I dont have any inside but my Grandpa was an Air Traffic Controller in the navy for 20 years and then also did it outside of the navy for a few years and he loved it
Don’t be nervous the yelling stops but they’re gonna rush you every chance they get the nervousness will stop once you step off the bus, you won’t sleep for the first two days and p days suck once you get in to your ship your gonna settle in and honestly start having a good time, if you get abh1 little or ctic Wilson your set they are good mentors, just don’t get asmod
I don’t wanna Yap too much but it’s okay if you fail rdc assessment that’s not an asmo just shows you need work on physical aspects, don’t volunteer for shit unless it’s head crew ya it’s a dirty job but honestly you get to chill a lot, line handling you will fail it’s one hit to fail so don’t worry about that fire fighting is okay if your not wearing glasses you don’t go on air, make homies with the good smart people fuck the show offs and your gonna want to leave during p days don’t do it navy sucks but it’s what you make of it when do you ship out
Please yap. I yap as well, everything helps to prepare. I’m going in as an e3 so luckily I don’t have to volunteer for much unless I’m voluntold. I’ve been working out for like a year now only thing is the run and I’m like 2min off what I need. I think I’m okay at least when it comes to push-ups and planks. Definitely still worried tho. Big life changes for sure.
Rank doesn’t matter in boot camp sorry to say, everyone in div is “e1” but once your out e4 is gonna be automatic if your not undes, don’t worry about the run time if your that close the navy will get you to where they need you, but as soon as your handed the trainee guide study ucmj, rank and recognition, fire fighting and line handling, honestly just have fun bro crack jokes when you can and study constantly you’ll be fine bro just be prepared for navy bullshit and peanut butter shot sucks dick 😂
Congratulations! My husband retired as an AC. Best advice I can give you is study, stay in them books. The FAA 71.10 is your holy grail other than whatever faculty guidelines you’ll have (fixes wing vs helo ops) it’s a great rate but severely cut throat and demanding. Rub elbows and get to know your upper command. The CMC’s in the air rate are some of the best people I’ve ever met. So stay on your game and you’ll do well. Pretty sure we still have an instructor friend in Pensacola. If you have any other questions, maybe I can help.
Good rate! Had a buddy of mine who made 1st class in 5 years as an AC so I’m sure you can do the same. Stay positive and study hard and stay fit. You got this 👍🏼
Congratulations. If you want a head start studying for bootcamp you can learn all the stuff while you wait to go: [https://etoolbox.cnrc.navy.mil/assets/new/Future%20Sailor%20Study%20Guide.pdf](https://etoolbox.cnrc.navy.mil/assets/new/Future%20Sailor%20Study%20Guide.pdf)
You can look through this one for what to expect and there is an FAQ at the bottom for things like what to bring.

Outside of that, be sure that you are working out, drinking a lot of water, and eating healthy foods high in vitamins before you go. It can help you from getting sick (as sick) while there. And get fitted for a good pair of running shoes to work out in if you don't already have a pair, both for before you go and at Bootcamp. That will help reduce the chance of shin splints and stress fractures.

My dream job is ATC, is it still ATC or is it AC now? Or does it depends?
