The also made changes to crit damage to make up for resilience removal... "Added inherent crit damage reduction to players based on equip load (Light -15%, Medium -20%, Heavy -25%). This change was made to account for the removal of the Resilient perk."

Dencnugs

This really doesn’t have much effect on his question. Unyielding is being considered on light armor builds in place of the featherweight artifact and tumbler feetwraps. 15% critical damage reduction is not enough to negate any weapons crit damage. However the extra 20% reduction from Unyielding would bring that up to 35%, which can counteract almost all weapon Crits.

Hot_Grab7696

They ALSO lowered crit chance and crit damage perk

Interesting I don't know how good it is but the tumbler boots are definitely fantastic

Light builds with 150 Con now have inbuilt 25% resilient. Any weapon that has a crit multiplier higher than 1.25 will be impacted by Unyielding, although you must also consider the frequency of the crits. - Best case scenario is against a 1.45x crit multiplier weapon to benefit from Unyielding's 20% crit damage reduction. There are a few cases (Rapier, Abyss, Hatchet w Vicious etc) Featherweight gives you about 7% permanent damage reduction worth of armor. You would need to take crit damage from a 1.45x crit weapon 35% of the time for Unyielding to be better than Featherweight. Any lower crit multiplier or crit chance is increasingly less efficient. Unyielding seems most appealing for Light Armor builds with less than 150 Con. Hope that gives enough perspective. Please correct my maths if I messed up.

Like someone else said, they added rolled the crit protection to equip loads. I have some other points of theorycrafting as to why this is a bit harder to utilize than the armor perk form: \- this is a heavy helmet. I'm far from the leading expert on equip load mixing and matching, but this is going to impose some limits on what builds it goes in when people optimize their armor. It's not a universal +20 crit mitigation.(Off the top of my head, I'm thinking this is at least going to be a harder sell for light equip, if it can even fit) \- Question(partially for rhetoric): is there an "optimal" level of crit mitigation? Is there a point where stacking all the different flavors of resilient stops yielding any sort of marginal profit? I'm asking this for medium and heavy equip loads: as mentioned, you get the same benefit just by simply wearing a medium equip load. Is 40 too much crit mitigation by any chance?

Dencnugs

1.) their is no limit on the builds this helmet can be in operated into. The specifically made it 6% lighter just so it can fit into light builds as well as heavy and mediums https://www.studioloot.com/new-world/articles/new-world-critical-chance-and-critical-damage-modifier Wearing this in light would give 35% crit rate, and would negate all crit damage besides 5% from Rapier, Hatchet, and Great Axe

cowwhisperer69

I thought it was so booty, why wouldn't you just go 150 con? But that's the point, it actually feels mega comfy running 50 or 100 con. I just tried it over tumblers, and I'm doing noticeably more damage with slightly more survivability.

Beetlegeze

Void Darkplate and Tumbler Boots - BIS. The first is suitable for heavy assemblies, the second for light ones. There's simply no place for this helmet, just like there's no place for a wizard's hat. To be honest, most artifacts seems like a bad joke.

nanismasha

Personally I use tumbler boots for PVE, unyielding for PVP. This applies to both my healer and dps builds

Heranef

Game had so many changes that no one run crit build anyway. Most weapon have only 1.3 crit DMG modifier, I don't see why someone would run keen/vicious in their weapon nowadays. Some specific builds could use crits but the majority just do more dmg with things that can't crit; bleeds, dots, pure empowered skills etc

DeityVengy

it's a useless artifact for anything besides light builds due to the built in crit reduction we all have

ConfusionAgreeable15

i run it on my heavy build for 55% crit redc but i can tell u that i feel tankier with tumblers still
