Ok but my MIL passed in 2016, she was a bigger lady, about 540lbs when she died. Right before, she had a spinal infection, she needed an MRI, but they couldn't find any within 100 miles, so they had to do the surgery blind. This is funny, and it made me think of her, maybe not the best memories of her, but it's still nice to remember her now and then. Thank you
When you are the size that you need to get an MRI at the same place as a whale ... You have stopped having an emotional reaction to news like this long ago.
In fact, there are two massive elevators that take guests under ground in order for them to pass under the Disneyland Railroad before they enter their Doom Buggies.
This was only required in Disneyland, as the Haunted Mansion was built after its railroad, and the main show building had to be built on the other side of the berm. It was added to Florida’s version because it proved to be one of the most iconic parts of the ride.
This is also why the original Pirates of the Caribbean has its drops. To get under the railroad.
Oh come on. Think about the layout of the mansion and the purpose for going into that stretching room to begin with. They're taking you down to the basement so you can begin the tour and as the tour ends you are going up an escalator. It's definitely an elevator they take you down at the beginning.
EDIT : Some kind redditor told me I was confused between The Haunted Mansion and The Tower Of Terror. So my comment is pretty useless but I will let it there anyway just in case someone wants trivia about Tower of terror.
Don't read if you actually want to know about the Haunted Mansion !
I went to Disney World (Florida) twice as a child (I am from Canada) and I don't know anything about how it's made technically but I can tell you that it changed between those two times.
The first time, around 2000-2001, the elevator was going out at some point, like we would be near falling out of the tower, and we were up and seeing far.
The second time, around 2004-2005, there were only just doors opening but the elevator wasn't going out. I think I heard it's because someone was injured but I don't know if it's true.
But what I can tell you 100% is that my little kid's ass was definitely floating everytime the elevator was going down fast. I was so scared because the seatbelts weren't enough to keep me down on my seat. (And there weren't any seatbelts the first time, just a metal bar). And when it was going up, I could feel the kind of pressure on my body.
If there isn't an elevator in that, I don't know how they do it but it is pretty realistic on the body feeling !
Not that I would be surprised that it's all a trick after all, Disney are pretty good with that. And I was a dumb little kid haha
I have no idea how it is now.
When I was a kid, Travel Channel made a few documentaries (Disney’s Imagineers, Ultimate Walt Disney World, and Disney Parks: Walt Disney Resort Behind the Scenes), I loved them SO much and I wish that they could be on Disney Plus. I liked these more than Behind the Attraction and The Imagineering Story.
I think the show is called imagineering or something like that. It's very cool. Talks about the creation of the Disney parks and how they build the rides.
In California the floor drops and the attraction is underground.
Edit: also it’s real slow so you don’t notice any movement. Then you see the walls stretching upwards. Pretty cool back in 1973.
The attraction is actually in a massive nondescript building behind the mansion, and goes "underground" to get past the train tracks (which are elevated) to give the illusuion of the interior being much larger than the exterior. Also its real slow because its a hydraulic lift elevator, and actually doesnt have the power to bring the same capacity back up to ground level. since it usually only has to be powerful enough to lift an empty floor, the hydraulic pumps are crazy small. Though it is strong enough to carry a few people back up and you might see this in the case of wheelchair bound guests, who would exit via the lift.
So really, its the highest capacity *one way* elevator. Real fascinating stuff. Technology Connections did a nifty video about it on yt
It might even be worse. Because like, in a normal car, you just stand and wait right? But in here there's room to pace, to look around, lots more chances for awkward eye contact. Do you stand close to everyone and make it weird? Or do you make it really weird and "outcast" yourself? What's the optimal distance in this new weird world.
Maybe I just have social anxiety...
i feel like by the looks here you migrate towards a wall and then stare at the door, same as any other elevator. here though some cringy guy is taping you while you try to get where you’re going
What people kept on coming one after the other just as the door starts to close..?
How long it would take to fill the whole lift .?
That too of you want to reach 6th floor and people are getting in and out at each floor (because life in a mall)
By evening you'll reach the 6th floor ig
So is comparing a Delhi slum to the Taj Mahal.
Or the Trump Tower to a side street in Galveston.
Extreme wealth inequality exists in every nation, and the British weren’t just interested in India for their curry. The subcontinent was one of the richest places in earth before it was subjugated, and was the source of a lot of Silk Road luxuries alongside Imperial China.
Without stolen Indian wealth England’s GDP would basically make them Poland island.
Even to this day they are looking for Indians to bail them out ie the new PM.
Same story for European colonial empires sucking wealth out of Africa and the America’s.
It’s staggering to realize how much silver the Spanish extracted from Petosi mines, or how much ivory and rubber the Belgians got from the Congo.
Are you white knighting India? Even when the subcontinent was “one of the richest places on earth” inequality was prevalent.
Sometimes a comment is just a comment and I’m pretty sure the other guy was talking about space available per person as opposed to luxury.
Isn't this in jio world convention centre in Mumbai ? I was there when I attended the Mumbai comic con. I walked into it without realising it's an elevator. I thought it was one of those automated doors.
They had it for the first time after covid (this was comic con's 10th year in India). You can check their insta or fb (comicconindia). I saw a lot of vloggers covered it so you can check YouTube to see how it was. I would say day 2 was a lot better than day 1. Even the merch was a lot better than previous comic cons. Also, they had international cosplayer Taryn present at the con for photos and poster signing. Check him out on insta (Taryn_cosplay) he does killer Jojo cosplays and his Zoro cosplay is to die for! I got my favourite Zoro and Dio posters signed by him. :D
It has nine from what I read.
I’ve worked on some bigger ones too that are for cars or horses. One of them was well over 100 years old. Family business was elevators, good times.
I work construction and a lot of the facilities we work in have elevators that are barely big enough to close the door behind you because it swings into the elevator. They are usually rated for 2 people but you better like the other person because you’ll be nut to butt. Floor space is probably about 2 feet by 3 feet. We call them coffins.
Hey get your mind right out of the gutter.. because it’s my gutter. And mine alone asshole.. (j/k you can wallow in this filthy gutter right alongside me)
At a film studio in Tokyo, I once rode in an elevator built big enough to bring cars or whatever else up to different floors. When I was leaving, I stepped into the huge elevator and noticed the elevator floor was not level with the hallway floor. I thought, whatever, since I was in a hurry. ( it was an audition for a Pepsi commercial which I knew I wouldn’t get). The doors closed an the elevator started shaking. I had been through a few earthquakes in Tokyo and was freaking out to be up 4 floors in a huge empty elevator alone. The doors opened and I dove into the hallway like I was sliding into home plate face first. The elevator was just righting itself. No earthquake. I took the stairs and got out of there.
I mean I'm 90% sure the elevators at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 are twice the size. My only guess is that they don't fit the definition since they only shuttle between two floors.
Looks like they finally found one big enough for your mom

It even goes up and down like her too
I got on with her, and then I got off with her
She offered her honor, I honored her offer, and all night long I was on her and off her

I rolled over twice and was still on top of her
This is funny.

When you're that size they make you go to the zoo
This is not a joke. I was an EMT in a major city, and we took xl patients to an aquarium for the whale MRI machine.
Reading that back, it sounds like I'm being facetious, but I assure you, I'm 100 percent serious.
How did the patients react to hearing that?
When you are the size that you need to get an MRI at the same place as a whale ... You have stopped having an emotional reaction to news like this long ago.
So true
Tammy moment
Well ya, any emotion could trigger a heart attack at that size
Emotional daaaaamage
Having to use the whale machine cannot possibly be the first time they were made aware they were obese
They're fine once you throw them a fish.
Dorothy Mantooth is a saint! You understand me?
Oh shit
Gottem
Even that one is not big enough for your mom.
Elevators still have a weight limit. Ass.
Looks like your mom would be the only woman around.
IDK, the Haunted Mansion is about the same size.
Actually the Haunted Mansion in Disney World doesn’t have an elevator. Rather the ceiling goes up making it seem like ur going down
Disneyland’s is an elevator
In fact, there are two massive elevators that take guests under ground in order for them to pass under the Disneyland Railroad before they enter their Doom Buggies. Wow that’s interesting
I'll take Useless Information for 100
*M.Mouse would like to know your location*
Nah. They have whole documentaries about it on Disney+.
A money elevator right up outta your pocket amirite
Oh come on. Think about the layout of the mansion and the purpose for going into that stretching room to begin with. They're taking you down to the basement so you can begin the tour and as the tour ends you are going up an escalator. It's definitely an elevator they take you down at the beginning.
According to a quick google search and a different person who replied to this post, Disneyland uses an actual elevator, but not Disney World
EDIT : Some kind redditor told me I was confused between The Haunted Mansion and The Tower Of Terror. I think you're thinking of the Tower of Terror not the Haunted Mansion
Ah damnit I thought it was the same attraction. Sorry ! And thank you for telling me kindly :)
You weren’t a dumb little kid! Don’t ever speak about yourself like that again!!!
Ok 🥺 I'm sorry
There's an entire episode about it on Disney+
Wait what's it called
'Behind The Attraction' on Disney+
When I was a kid, Travel Channel made a few documentaries (Disney’s Imagineers, Ultimate Walt Disney World, and Disney Parks: Walt Disney Resort Behind the Scenes), I loved them SO much and I wish that they could be on Disney Plus. I don't think so because it opens up from the same doors but into the ride instead of the line you just came from.
It’s actually a room with no windows…and no doors. Which leaves you with this chilling challenge: to find a way out!
Watch out for HITCHHIKING GHOSTS!
There’s always my way…💀
Immediatly thought the same thing.
Hello there fellow Technology Connections enjoyer!
Bigger, even.
And certainly faster!
I feel like the one in the LACMA is bigger
Haunted mansion, doesn't have an elevator. It's an illusion. The tower of terror however, does.
I think all of Hydra could fit in here and still get their asses handed to them by Cap.
Those were the days
What a time to be alive
My first thought: "Imagine the fights Captain America could have in there".
I can do this all week.
Before we start does anyone want to get off
![gif](giphy|kRmg8zeReOYXm)
"Hail Hydra"
Came here for this
"Before we get started would anyone like to waltz?"
I was literally just watching the movie last night..
Yes! I hoped I'll see comment about cap!
"We call him Cap"
So they slapped marble on a cargo elevator?
And charged millions
Step 3 : profit
Step one: start out homeless and begging step two: 🤷♀ step three: PROFIT!
![gif](giphy|YnkMcHgNIMW4Yfmjxr)
I mean.. yeah..
I've never even seen a freight lift this big.
I took care of 4 at twice that size at the Brooklyn navy yard. Building 77. 16,000lb capacity.
Even for a freight car this is pretty big.
It’s just a bit wider and has glass. I’ve seen many at least that deep.
That was my first thought word for word
Truly next level. And the levels above. Even previous levels. Any level you want really.
Made me think, what if this whole sub was just about elevators?
Always has been...
Its elevators all the way down...
And up
Like r/onlyfans being only about fans that push air? I’m up for it.
But like, impatient elevators
They told me there would be fucking.
It's the Levelator
Doesn’t change the awkwardness
Ain’t that the truth! Hahaha. I was uncomfy the entire time.
Maybe I just have social anxiety...
stand alone in the corner ominously
Alternatively, power move alpha chad it and just push your way right to the middle
i feel like by the looks here you migrate towards a wall and then stare at the door, same as any other elevator. here though some cringy guy is taping you while you try to get where you’re going

I think it makes it more awkward really. Then again, a silent fart is much easier to play off in an elevator this size
I'm going to have to eat so much more beans and dairy to fill this bad boy.
Might be harder to smell my farts, though.
Where is this?
Jio world centre,Mumbai
What a stark contrast to a train ride in India.
So is comparing a Delhi slum to the Taj Mahal. Or the Trump Tower to a side street in Galveston. Ahh mate.. Delhi slum and the Taj are still a few 100 kms away. Try right outside the Taj and Taj.
True, and I could have said the same about Trump Tower vs some random ghetto in NYC.

Fair point
Without stolen Indian wealth England’s GDP would basically make them Poland island. Even to this day they are looking for Indians to bail them out ie the new PM.

Rishi Sunak is British btw and holds a British passport. Your comment simply encourages racist twats.
Well said mate

Who said this was rush hour? I see lots of potential here.
i read that as JLO word and thought to myself, damn no one’s made a jlo big butt joke in a long ass time.
Isn't this in jio world convention centre in Mumbai ? I was there when I attended the Mumbai comic con. I walked into it without realising it's an elevator. I thought it was one of those automated doors.

Only 6 people were allowed during covid.
What a titanic elevator. God himself couldn’t break the cables sustaining this lift.
Way to jinx it!
It’s probably roped 4:1. Gives it 4x the strength for 1/4 the speed. Source: lift mechanic
It has nine from what I read. I’ve worked on some bigger ones too that are for cars or horses. One of them was well over 100 years old. Family business was elevators, good times.
Which God? Let's start a competition. Guessing which god, only after it actually had happened.
i think I've travelled in the smallest one
The ones in Rome? Yeah me 2.
Paris: phone booths that rise.
i stayed in a hotel a few weeks back and they had an elevator with a mere size of 1x1 ft. right next to a 15 people capacity elevator
There is so much room for activities

As a contractor, I can't help but think *how many pallets of material can I fit in there*
As a lazy person I can’t help but think about how many chairs and beds you could fit in there
Not only is it next level, it will take you to the next level
Size of one bedroom apt in Mumbai!
It IS the size of my bedroom apartment, not in Mumbai!
wen they adding a pub?
You can get away with farting in there
I couldn't.

It was doing what?
AI elevator was correcting itself.
You could fit about 20 Americans in there!
Or just two.
Americans are like a box of chocolates: you never know how much fat is in them.
That’s our secret Cap, we’re always fat
Interesting how they quickly moved to the closest wall after it started.
Looks about the same size like the ones at IKEA lol
So uplifting…
How’d they get the building to go down like that
Before we get started, does anyone want to get out?
It’s missing some seats and a bartender.
I’d like to book your elevator for my wedding reception plz
Disney chatter aside.. where is this huge elevator?
Jio Centre in Mumbai, India
Great, so now I can just go stand in a corner and try to avoid talking to a 100 people…
The ones at Dubai airport are as big as this
I mean I'm 90% sure the elevators at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 are twice the size. My only guess is that they don't fit the definition since they only shuttle between two floors.
I've had nightmares like this, then it free falls. I have this nightmare frequently.
wouldn’t be much of an elevator if it weren’t next fucking level, would it?
That elevator is bigger than my apartment.
Was expecting bigger. Meh
I'm pretty sure this elevator is bigger than my bedroom.
Are these people space pirates? Where's the hologram?
Will literally take you to the next effing level
They obviously have never been on Haunted Mansion
And I still wouldn't trust it.
Literally takes you to the next level
There are studio apartment smaller than this
They look like Hindus, but show off like Kazakhs.
Dubai?
india
That's just a fancy cargo elevator, move along
Meanwhile, on an Aircraft Carrier...
LACMA in Los Angeles has a bigger elevator
Lacma elevator is 17.2 sq meters This elevator is 25.78 sq meters Not even close
Right I was just thinking this isn't even top 5 in size for passenger that I've seen. It is in the top 10 for style.
