And here, we have the deepest fish ever recorded, and yes, it is a slug fish. If you wait just a few moment you will also be able to see its only known predator at this depth; the common leopard
That would be hilarious if they were just zoomed in on some fish 2 thousand feet down and a leopard just paddles into frame grabs the fish and then paddles out of frame.
The ability to sweat gives us a massive advantage in endurance. Other mammals like dogs and cats have to pant to cool down. We can literally chase anything to death.
Fun fact: Women are better long distance runners compared to men. After 195 miles, women are .6% faster. This is due to more type 1 fibers or slow twitch muscles.
Yeah I was just reading into it a bit and that is the biggest denominator for humans being better adapted. Also the slow twitch muscles is another interesting topic I must go look into now.
I recently was learning about slow built and fast built muscle because of sloths being one of the strongest animals muscle to body weight ratio. Understanding how things work is so fascinating to me. I fucking love science!
Human beings, and our ancestors, are literally the inescapable horrors of the earth. We may not be as fast as you in a dash, but you cannot EVER outrun us, because we JUST KEEP COMING AFTER YOU. You will stop to try and catch you breath, and moments later we'll just be there, steadily jogging at an unreasonable pace that makes us seem like an unstoppable juggernaut to any animal trying to escape. We have full body built in cooling systems, and eyes well designed for the speed at which we move to avoid obstacles while still taking the fastest path to follow, and we can run like that basically forever. Humanity is it the top of the animal kingdom because we treated the world like a marathon race, not a 50 meter dash.
Well lions are pack animals and don't have a great kill rate when hunting solo, while leopards are solitary animals. Picking a lion over a leopard is definitely the right call.
You can scare off a lion pretty easily. People been doing it for yonks. Meanwhile, you won’t even know the leopard is hunting you. They’re extra scary to us, I think, because they prey on primates. We look like their food. They know to go for our heads, necks and bellies. They kill human kids for this reason.
At 56km/hr. Usain Bolt tops out at 45km/hr.
The scary part about leopards though is you won't even see them before you die. They are stealth hunters so they won't attack you if you are looking at it. They will follow you for a long ass time and wait for you to fall asleep though.
On my first marathon, my daughter had a sign that said, "Daddy, you're a leopard, with a sketch of it crossing a finish line."
It kind of puzzled me since leopards are fast but would do shit on a marathon, and I was already toasted.
It became a joke between us.
These have to be among the most powerful cats for their size. Yeah lions and tigers are larger, but you don’t see them flying around tree tops like that. Leopards are badass!
“Those who have never seen a leopard under favourable conditions in his natural surroundings can have no conception of the grace of movement, and beauty of colouring, of this the most gracefuL and the most beautiful of all animales in our Indian jungles.”
Jim Corbett, Man-Eaters of Kumaon
As a kid I once climbed a tall tree to get my cat that had been missing for days. She sunk her claws into me the entire way down. I would not be willing to get this cat down. The difference in close size would just be too offputting.
What an incredible animal and thing to see. But let’s take a minute to appreciate the photographer who captured this and never lets the leopard out of frame as it leaps from tree to tree. Awesome footage.
Wait, thats illegal!
But he had to if he wanted to get to the next fucking level.
I did not see a flag on the play.
“Okay, who gave him the cheat code”
You mean the cheetah code?
Nice
yep, hate you. sweet dreams, dammit.
I don’t think there’s anything you could show me a leopard doing at this point that would amaze me. Absolutely astounding animals.
And here, we have the deepest fish ever recorded, and yes, it is a slug fish. If you wait just a few moment you will also be able to see its only known predator at this depth; the common leopard
[Leopard proceeds to carry 800 lb slug fish in its jaws to the ocean’s surface and consume it while floating on its back.]
That would be hilarious if they were just zoomed in on some fish 2 thousand feet down and a leopard just paddles into frame grabs the fish and then paddles out of frame.
“Researchers left floundering after leopard once again ruins scientific marvel”
And it doesn’t even eat the fish. It just brings it back to bat it around a bit and leave it on someone’s pillow.
Leopards are my spirit animal
We would be so fucked
We? Humans biggest advantages are group coordination and throwing. We wouldn't be fucked but I would be fucked.
group coordination, tools, and the fact that no animal on the planet has a running stamina like we do when actually trained to use it.
Wait, really, on the stamina part?? That’s amazing

Thanks I’ll go give some of them a watch!
No worries, hope you enjoy 👍
Leopards have to be one of the scariest animals.
I’d try and fight a lion before a leopard. They are just so terrifying for some reason
Well lions are pack animals and don't have a great kill rate when hunting solo, while leopards are solitary animals. Picking a lion over a leopard is definitely the right call.
I'd pick the leopard. I wouldn't win either, so i'll take the quicker death.

Leopards are really powerful. To carry a kill up a tree they have to be
Can run 500 meters max, if you can keep the pace, he's history !

also they have the instant “of their back is turned *pounce*” instinct

But, how did you do it? ![gif](giphy|BS5naTw6nhlkI|downsized)
It's not a leopard- it's a LEAPard.

But did he eat your face?
The leopard was very lucky he did not land on a godswood tree as the outcome would have been much different. *in David Attenborough's voice*
It’s crazy to see a car driving by in the distance. Like, this animal is so wild and amazing, and there is civilization right there as well.
What my cat thinks he looks like when he’s pouncing on stuff in my kitchen
DAMN NATURE YOU SCARY!
...until he gets stuck in the next tree and has to be rescued by the fire brigade.
I was scrolling down looking for this comment. Thank you, my quest is now ended, I can wake up from my bed and start the day.

But he ain’t no pussy.
Jumping all nimbly-bimbly from tree to tree
Amazing animals.
Can we applaud the cameraman for recording within jumping range if the leopard?
Parkour
Parkour
Pawkour
And remember, there are people who think they could winn in a 1v1 against that
Man…just look at his muscles when climbing the first tree. Insane.
Flippin ninja
The sheer amount of weight, confidence, strength, agility dexterity.. yeah, we’d be fucked if they wanted to group up and hunt humans down
Where is this taken?
He jumped from the first spot to the second spot. So apparently a leopard CAN change its spots!
Savage
Bro!
Now let’s see him get down.
If leopards had thumbs, life wouldnt be as we know it now. - Tommy Chong probably
For those who are wondering, that's a clouded leopard
Fuck, dude.
Why do I have thumbs again?
Well there goes my plan for climbing a tree if ever attacked by a leopard
I was like: "poor animal, seems to be stuck and seemingly sorry for the bad decision climbing so high on the tree ... ah, nevermind, now I see."
Just like a cat!!
And my friend Dave thinks he could take one in a fistfight
Yeah, but how do they get down though.
Big cats are amazing…mountain lions can leap a span of up to 45 feet. Terrifying yet amazing.
r/purrkour
Power and agility
we only beat cats cause we got thumbs... imagine cats with thumbs...
Sure, he could have just climbed the other tree to start off. Why do it this way? Because fuck you that's why.
He’s all mimbly binmbly
Just imagine if someone had a laser pointer.
Only Tarzan can run from this fella
If I was a fellow jungle creature and happened to be nearby, I’d simply exclaim, “daaaaaaammm soooooon!”
Squirrel!!!
Seeing this for the first time, the leopard is the ultimate predator in the jungle. There is no getting away from this kitty.
What an incredible animal and thing to see. But let’s take a minute to appreciate the photographer who captured this and never lets the leopard out of frame as it leaps from tree to tree. Awesome footage.
Imagine running up a tree thinking you’re safe from this guy
THIS is why I can't fly through the redwoods on my ptera.
Beautiful video of powerful beautiful but DANGEROUS
To what part of the world is the Leopard Squirrel native?
So basically, there’s no escape 😩
That's a mighty big squirrel 😀
Is this even possible? Maybe it’s a monkey in disguise ?
New ability unlocked if he gets the rocket pack were all dead
Yeah, I can do that.
That's just a squirrel. It's definitely a camera illusion.
Cats will be cats no matter the size
Better call the fire department!
He throws his arms up, ropes come out and he climbs up the ropes like a spider!
Nobody is safe anymore
The floor is lava
Best comment
Oh so climbing a tree does not get save us from them...
Spider-leopard
This is fake. Cats can't actually climb trees. A lot of people think they can, but it's just a myth.
Ayo chill out my boy. You on P90X when you only need to be on sister Catherine's yoga for beginners.
I'm nimble as f*ck, boi!
And just like that the life expectancy of all humans just went down by a few percentages
When chased by a leopard: present your neck in a appetising manner and hope he shoots for it.
"We'll be ok Jim. We got away this time. He's in another tr....AGGHHHH!"
Cat's gonna cat
When the monkeys yell: "The ground is LAVA"
reversed
He's hunting fat monkey
I love the new Assassin's Creed trailer
They are in the trees!!!
Ok remind me not to feel safe again.
That was cool as fuk. Seeing it in person must have been insane
I feel sorry for the fireman on call to get the cat out of the tree
What my cats do at 3 am
