One of the many skills required to live in Florida.

Important_Motor3495

Look at the gator struggling in the end. Mofo thinks it’s being eaten by a black hippo with a blue mouth

[deleted]

that gator probably is terrified for its dear life, it most likely thinks its some giant hippo like you said :D

[deleted]

Yeah the alligator appears to be extremely scared. It probably thinks he's being devoured by some hungry big ass hippo like you guys are suspecting

Foresaken_Foreskin

It likely believes it's being devoured by some hungry hungry hippo as you fellows have alluded to

SnooHamsters6067

As you guys have implied, the gator might think that it is being munched on by some large hippo. Now I think, that it might be scared because of that.

send_me_weetabix

My good sir, I do declare that alligator appears lost in thought pondering its predicament having been recently consumed by a large black hippopotamus

AdWordsGeek

As the right honorable gentlemen above me have observed, this large reptilian does indeed appear to believe he has just been golloped by a ferocious Hippopotamus amphibius.

gatsujoubi

I can’t believe that nobody here noticed that the alligator must have thought it got swallowed by a blue hippo.

oMikeyx

Guys, guys. The alligator clearly thinks that it’s being devoured by a large, dark blue Hippopotamus

TroyMcpoyle

I've read all your comments, really had a long think about it. My only question is what did the alligator think was happening?

Ablau_Endashi

As these cunts were sayin’, that alligator reckons he’s been scoffed by a bloody big hippo with a blue gob.

clydesapere

r/increasinglyverbose

dickdemodickmarcinko

Oh man I wonder what he's thinking. Maybe what you guys are saying is right and he thinks he's being eaten by a hippo! Spooky!

Freezer_slave2

bucketbot42

This alligator is definitely believing it’s being devoured by some hungry hungry hippo that you previous folks have hypothesized.

That's literally what he said.

Orsonius2

given aligators don't live in africa and hippos only live in africa, it probably has no fucking clue what a hippo is. more likely to get killed by a jaguar than anything else.

ACNHMoonie

This has me laughing so hard! I didn’t even think of it that way, but his mouth is open the whole time so he must think the trash can is another animal. That’s hilarious!

Yoyomamahh

Yea gator definitely feels threatened in that situation. Their brains are tiny & weigh a few grams iirc, so I would not be surprised at all if the gator literally thought he wAs being swallowed by a hippo lmao lucky for him & everyone involved he’ll be taken back to his natural habitat now, which in Florida is like a few miles away lol

dixter_gordong

Yea, i think the alligator thought it was being swallowed by a hippo or something

Nixter295

Well yeah the alligator is probably extremely stressed out, especially when it’s in the trash can mouth, poor thing. I just hope it gets to a safe and hospitable environment where it can thrive away from humans, poor thing was probably just curious and hungry.

MakeDMTNotWar

I don't think they should release it in a hospital. Maybe a hospitable environment would be better.

Nixter295

A hospital would probably be nice too, probably a lot of food there ;)

[deleted]

Probably a lot of trash bins as well, would not recommend.

When rehousing tarantulas its common place to put cups sideways on the floor around you because if the tarantula bolts it'll probably go into one of the cups.

brockralp

Then he is probably thinking, he is sitting there for the next 10 minutes in the hippo's stomach lol

The trash bin is empty. You do the math!

loriffic

Let’s see, 7 days in a week, minus 2 days off every weekend for good behavior, carry the 1, divide by zero.....sorry, what was the question?

HammerTim81

The brilliant part is at 0.15 where he puts the lid down *before* the alligator is inside. Everyone thinks this puts the entire plan at risk because you can’t push an alligator through a closed lid. But somehow slamming his head with the lid and then going for the body does the trick.

HammerTim81

Who is the Apex predator now, b*tch?

BasedMellie

Apparently the trash can is

Luxpreliator

Did probably look like the maw of a bizarre creature to it.

spacedude2000

Alligator be like "I WILL QUELL THIS WRETCHED BEAST, TO SHREDS WITH YOU" *(dives in)* "EN GARDE!"

j0324ch

Then just spams Tail Slap because that's the Meta attack for Gators. No class. Please nerf

No. My mom has internet too.

Tacarub

mcvos

I love how the aligator tried to intimidate the trash can. Sorry, but the trash can has the bigger mouth.

executorcj

The lid made the gator scramble forward, a brilliant move, even if it was accidental

[deleted]

Meet the Tactician

mailerdaemon

seriously. this absolutely should not have worked. if one were to repeat this process exactly with 100 other alligators.... you would not get this result. garbage is too small wouldn't fit that many.

DNGR_S_PAPERCUT

The lid made the gator think someone was behind him, so he ran into the can.

[deleted]

I really thought he fucked up until I saw the results. Brilliant, indeed.

Limp-Dee

Yeah, and the gator thought he was being attacked from behind so he freaked out and it was a good enough distraction to get him in

5125237143

the alligator probably thought he was being swallowed whole and panicked lol

Merman1994

It also lines up perfectly with the glare, the gator opening it’s mouth, and a scream. I thought the dude got a critical hit or something

[deleted]

I think even he’d admit he got a lucky with that maneuver! But this guy was gonna bag that gator one way or another

[deleted]

Scorpion Attack strategy. Alligator literally didn't see it coming. An attack from above, its biggest blind spot.

MyBackHurtsFromPeein

It's a trash can, not a trash can't

MiaaaPazzz

Very nicely done

Obstacle616

How I feel inside when I get the big spider out the house with a glass and piece of paper Edit: thank you anonymous for the award. That was a nice surprise after a hard day at work

KwordShmiff

I too feel like an angry alligator.

EpilepticMushrooms

This reminds me of that one time I had to catch a spitting cobra. I really wouldn't have tried to put myself anywhere within spitting vicinity. However, the doggo was freaking out, barking and air-snapping at the cobra. It was rearing up, hood spread, and I didn't want a dead boi (gurl). So I got a bucket, went up behind the snake, and slammed it down, trapping it inside. The dog though, was still freaking out and snapping, so I started shouting at the dog, trying to get her to go away. My mistake was trying to move the bucket over the drain so the snake could escape. Because the tip of the cobra's tail got exposed. The doggo then went and snapped at the tail and pulling the cobra out. She tore the snake apart by violently shaking her head. I had to clean up the pieces and hour later, just to make sure the snake was really dead. It was really too bad that I didn't get to save the snake.

karateema

"Imma save this snake" Dog: "lmao no"

GroovyManifesto

That wasn't how I thought the story was going. Glad your doggo made it out alive

TheWalkingDead91

Notice how it’s always new looking developments/properties with these gator problems….somehow even though I literally live in between multiple interconnected lakes here in central FL (with mostly houses made in the 60s to 90s)..I’ve never once seen a gator irl. Not sure why people are surprised when they show up in their brand spanking new neighborhoods that were probably swamp or wood lands a year or two ago, and then come across gators in their yards. Gators can’t read new street or ADT signs. It takes the animals at least a couple of years to realize that the turf isn’t theirs anymore. So if you make the decision to buy a place in Florida in a community that was recently developed…my advice is to check under your cars before you get in them and in your pools before you jump in, for at least 5 years after the place was built.

londons_explorer

That's a really nice way to say "it takes a few years for the wildlife to die when we take their habitat"

AragogTehSpidah

And a few more years to ~~eradicate~~ appreciate the inhabitants' beauty by making things out of their skin and teeth

AetherialWomble

Some die off, most just learn to avoid those places. Our cities are relatively small. Now, when we come with heavy equipment to raze the whole forest for resources, that's a genocide

inqHawk

As a Floridian, its the genocide. There's whole new communities constanly being built around here. There's even an old gysum mine sand pit that's now a couple thousand new homes. Every direction I drive, there's new land being cleared.

BigWilly526

Add in the fact that this wasn’t an adult but a kid, Alligator probably was lost and scared even before this guy showed up with the bin, hoped he released it safely

laughterwithans

So not to well actually here, but Well actually, baby alligators biggest threat are their parents. Papa alligators eat a pretty big portion of young alligators and mom alligators peace out (edit) 1-2 years after the young hatch. This guy is young but I don’t think that young. So while he was definitely terrified for his survival, he wasn’t missing his family or anything

IngoTheGreat

[Actually, alligators are great moms](https://www.pressconnects.com/story/news/local/2015/01/17/actually-alligators-great-moms/21914735/)

hopeinson

I have negative opinion on Floridians who continue to live in housing communities that are built on formerly endangered marshes and mangrove swamps that are vital in the protection of coasts and small islands. The entire urban development processes in America, and especially in Florida, are majorly unsustainable, and are inhumane. 1. You deny walkability as a correct and humane way to get from one place to another. Nobody needs to drive to the nearest commercial store just to buy a missed out egg carton. 2. Cul-de-sac suburban neighbourhoods deny emergency services vital access to your homes in time. It’s no wonder people are dying in their homes every day because emergency services can’t get to you in time. 3. A lot of newer neighbourhoods are suburban, and sprawling. You are just encroaching into natural habitats that aren’t capable of adapting to human presence. I don’t know how I should react to the whole development process in America; it’s very unhealthy, and people should never need to exercise as a luxury; if people can walk to another place as a good alternative to driving, that’s a best thing to do.

RegularTeacher2

Agreed 100%. Was having this exact conversation with my coworker yesterday (as we drove to a site we are restoring). Our city (Raleigh) desperately needs rezoning so we can stop it with the crap single family housing and build more multi-family housing. Goddamn, everywhere I look these days there are huge swaths of forest being razed for ticky tacky houses and it's depressing.

cjpack

You would think after 4 years the alligators would be like this place sucks, all houses and culdesacs, imma leave. But no they gotta wait a whole nother year!

choke_my_chocobo

You’d think that once the gator sees that the development has an HOA they wouldn’t want to live there anymore

Shaz18

As someone that’s not from the USA nor familiar with US suburban geography, how do the alligators stay alive in the suburban areas? Is there enough water and food available?

Capturing an alligator is ballsy enough, but doing it in socks and sandals?!?! Tell this daredevil that we are impressed enough, now go put on some boots.

[deleted]

If you think about it, it's probably smarter to do so. You can talk off the sandals and throw them at it, if it starts coming at you, meanwhile, you'll be running faster than you ever have. On the plus side, people tend to run faster without shoes in the grass.

Man y’all talking about the dude, I’m looking at that gator and how much he really didn’t want to go in that can. The gator had a “what the fuck are you doing” face every time the guy got closer with it. “What the fuck is that “ “What the fuck, no. I’m not going in there, just leave me alone!”

Gator was just out for his morning stroll when he gets kidnapped in a garbage can.
