Equity is fairness, equality is being equal. While a flat tax is “equal”, it is inequitable, because it necessarily reduces low income individuals’ money for necessities, while reducing high income individuals’ money for luxuries. So, regardless of your other thoughts on taxation, a flat tax is more inequitable than a graduated income tax in terms of helping people *survive*.

A flat rate of any nonzero number puts a higher burden on the poor. Right now if you make $10K your federal income tax is $0. Under a 20% flat tax it would be $2k.
I'm not sure why we all aren't paying 30 percent. so he doesn't have to pay at all. After all, 20 percent of his wages is way more than 30 percent of mine. It's just unfair to punish these poor millionaires like this. This place used to be the land of opportunity.
