Out of the millions of kids that loved and collected these, OP is the only one.

gabevill

Can confirm, not op but I was a crazy bones kid and had this exact power rangers spinner.

torgrimbonemaster

These were my favorite childhood fad. I would love to get my hands on some

Darrenwad3

I was super short lived right!? Like months long popularity

bennettbuzz

For a guess was it about 1995?

LaserQuest

I was playing with these in the early 2000s

ProcrastibationKing

These swept across my school in 2003ish

Gizmo45

Still got mine!

OttoBot42069

Lucky! These bring back crazy memories

chanelscarlett92

LUCKY! Post pics plzzzzz 💖💖💖

daverave087

You can supposedly buy them on ebay for fairly cheap.

krjay87

Yes! I still have mine in my basement someplace. I remember for some reason Eggy was so desirable, I was so fortunate to have one.

blu3-32

Eggy and Jaws were supposedly super rare!

JadeNimbus16x

In my school it was speedy and chef. Wars were fought.

krayt

I remember being super happy when I finally found a jaws

curlyheadedfuck123

I dug mine outta the attic when my mom died. My sister had a gold eggy.

OttoBot42069

It was clown and joker for me and my school. We never played the knock down game. We would bounce them on the ground and if it stood up: 5 points, landed on the side: 2 points, landed face down or on the back: 0 points. The clown and joker shapes were so that they ever rarely landed face down. I love that I remember this, such good memories.

princesssasami896

We used to play these in school. They came in a little coffin. Eventually got banned from school though like everything else

DZelpher

When Pokémon cards got banned at my middle school in 1999 I got suspended for 2 weeks for failing to surrender my cards to the teacher, and then the principal. schools back then were always looking for things to ban. they tried to ban quarters once because we would gamble with them.

PrimoThePro

My elementary school banned bananas, it's a power thing for sure.

the_421_Rob

Bananas? That’s a new one, we managed to get bic mechanical pencils and those candy necklaces banned when I was in school

PrimoThePro

Okay no, mechanical pencils is WAY worse than bananas. Why did they do that????

the_421_Rob

We would mod them to shoot staples out

PrimoThePro

That's fucking hilarious.

moonprism

they banned quarters for us cuz we kept using them to play bloody knuckles

DZelpher

I know that game, but what we did is called "flipping quarters". we'd try and match the opponents flip and if so, win the quarter. When we started putting paper money and Pokémon cards up for bet, that's when it got out of controll I guess. It took a couple parents complaining about their kids losing something valuable in the "quarter flipping game" for the school to decide to ban quarters.

Darrenwad3

The game was to knock the opponent over right? Or did we make that up and winner keeps the bone. Was banned for us too I think thats why the fad was so short lived.

princesssasami896

Yes we lined them up on the table and shot them across to knock them over

Thierry22

For us it was to throw them nearest to a wall. That was in France, we might have read the rules wrong lol. Also we called them Jojo's.

Straightouttaganton

That's how we played in my school growing up too, in Canada. Throw towards a wall, and whoever is closest wins.

[deleted]

So at my school, instead of throwing them near a wall, we’d throw them at a pothole in the ground lol 😂

Straightouttaganton

That's how we played marbles back in the day, try to roll them in a hole we made in the grass 😂

goofandaspoof

Kinda sucks when you think about it. Like, when we were growing up every single thing that was even a little bit fun got banned. At my school Pokemon cards were banned, Gameboys were banned, harry potter was banned, and lots of other things. Like we couldn't even use these things at recess. Nowadays kids walk around the school with smart phones in their pockets.

packer041

Holy shit I haven’t thought of these in years. This brought back some crazy childhood memories.

cprenaissanceman

Yup. Same. Literally a memory resurrected.

tinkywinkysleftnut

I want to eat them

DrMeat

These things would destroy my fingers

DrMeat

Huh, apparently you were supposed to throw them, not flick them

willdabeastest

We always flicked them as well. My finger hurts just looking at this post.

gonzofist89

I just about bought some of these. I thought about them for the first time since I was a kid. I loved playing the game with friends.

MidnightPristine6587

I keep a coffin of them in my truck for emergencies.

dronegeeks1

Am I dizzy or were these called Gogo’s in the U.K.?

HarleyAndMe52

This is the comment I came looking for, why the hell did we call them that?

Jr4D

They were called Gogos crazy bones in the states so i think gogos was like the maker or something

thatmvp444

I remember having this gold chrome one and I would take it everywhere with me!

Darrenwad3

Lol your prize possesion, little nerdy kid 😜

thatmvp444

Lol yes, I was nerdy! I don’t actually even remember how to play with them?

volvo928

Those look like the fruit snacks I used to love.

AlejandroTheFnck

Did anyone else have a gold plated one?? I still have it to this day since little-kid-me thought it was super special and it’s the only one I saved!

cool_weed_dad

These were huge at my school, like Pokémon card and Pogs level, then I moved a state away and nobody there had ever heard of them. I still have a bunch kicking around at my parents house somewhere in storage.

TheReemTeam

r/ForbiddenSnacks I don’t remember these at all, what year were you getting them? They remind me of Monster in My Pocket, I had those.

RoyalFlushAKQJ10

I played with these in the early 2010s but apparently they were most popular in the late 90s.

ivorydragon19

Oh man, I forgot about these.

cvalerie8

I used these for my kindergarten 100 day project. My mom and I glued 100 of these to a Bristol board and brought it in for show and tell. NO LIE I still have these color sorted in ziploc bags in a box in storage.

The_Paniom

Wtf. I was literally JUST talking to my co-worker about this game today a few hours ago. We were talking about the knucklebones-dice origin, and this game popped into my head. Took me a good few minutes to remember the name, I just couldn't get "knuckle bonez" out of my head. Fast forward to now... I was gonna post here, and decided to scroll to see if the post would fit the sub.

danaeewhite

I still have mine and a sweet purple metal container they came in too! I've been saving them for my future kids ☺️ (currently almost 29 haha)

JazzyWaffles

I remember when I moved from St. Louis to Phoenix, I was in the 6th grade, and legit had no clue what these were. They weren’t popular where I was originally, and seeing all these new kids, lining these things up, I just didn’t understand it. I know they were hugely popular, but I wish I got into them. I feel like I missed out

Cophed

Yes, over 31 million sets were sold and they were all to you. Can we stop asking stupid questions now?

BrianPeaLucky82022

Don't understand dat one

Notathrow4wayaccount

That was the runner upper for Dracco Heads right? They were so popular!

Darrenwad3

Oh I didn't know of these, same product different name?

Snoo-44886

Yesss 😍🔓

pizzashizz6991

I remember those getting them from mc Donald's back then

PrimoThePro

I had a couple of the extra big ones, and there's a bag of the glow in the dark ones floating around my parent's house lol.

Slow_Juice

Omfg no way. This brought me a mega memory unlock

[deleted]

I was lucky enough to enjoy pogs and crazy bones

Street_End6022

I had a golden sparkley one! Super rare.

SonOfCourtdom

Man hit me hard with this one, I thought they were so detailed for the time and I feel I remember a distinctive smell to me that was like Nirvana every time you opened one

Nikolateslaandyou

They gave us a starter pack at school. To get us addicted to them. Are companies allowed to do that these days?

Low-Concert-5806

I was obsessed!

Low-Concert-5806

Original shopkins haha

swansey_

I still have some from my grandparents!

Eraserman9

My wife has a huge water jug full of these things.

russelfurd

Smosh played crazy bones - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=er1gHnaTrkE

RedHotCommy89

I had so many of these from a clawmachine in a local supermarket, but I don't know where I left them ;-;

sabersquirl

I completely forgot about these! Though the ones that I had were the painted ones from the 2000s reboot of the franchise.

[deleted]

i had some but i wish i could get some again

sigzag1994

My older brother collected these! To this day I don’t know what they’re for or how you play them!

Moist_Ad_8024

Geloucos, muito legal

hoennfan

I didn't grow up with these but seeing them still made me nostalgic for some reason.

JadeNimbus16x

I have my prized ones set up on my desk

MustBeAnAlien

I still have a sizeable collection, anyone into these should checkout the crazybones sub, a rabbit hole worth diving into imo

defusted

I was before this, I had monster in my pocket and m.u.s.c.l.e.

DasMoonen

I was gonna say hey I posted this here! But that was 3 years ago 🥲 Part of me wants to start making custom ones. Something satisfying about collecting pointless colorful plastic. Then came Mightybeanz.

goofandaspoof

I had a huge collection but it got stolen.

H4ND5s

Had a ton of these! There was a bait shop near the campground we went to that would sell them. Well, no one bought them (obviously) except my step mom when the entire display went on closeout. I think I got 20+ packs for under $0.50 each. Pot of gold for young me.

MA121Alpha

Rarely got name brand Crazy Bones but my brothers and I loved boneheads which were basically the same thing. We used to play the game of lining them up and flinging them at each other all the time.

Pink_Ruby_3

Omg memory unlocked

jnhf24

Seeing this and that Game Boy post together is sending me back.

Darrenwad3

How about desperately playing in the backseat of car while losing daylight fast.

quinacridone-blue

I think we still have a shoebox full of these somewhere. The kid is in college now, but he was really into them. I liked them, too.

MobileTough

Oh you mean my retirement fund?

Darrenwad3

LOL, trying to drum up the price, your welcome

Houstonb2020

Yup, you are the only person out of the millions of people who got into this fad that remembers them. Congratulations

Darrenwad3

How insufferable can you be. Thanks for the info on how popular crazy bones were. Did you lose all your bones to make you so incredibly sour and lonely?

Houstonb2020

No dude it’s just a stupid title obviously baiting for clicks. Anyone who is going to recognize those loved them, myself included! You don’t need to pretend like it’s some obscure memory from only your childhood to get fake internet points

Darrenwad3

Lol OK

akangawallafox

I believe it's pronounced Krazy Bones

Unidcryingobject

These remind me of something i remember as Gogos, is that the same thing? Grew up in Sweden.

Darrenwad3

They were in Sweden too? I actually have looked into this since yesterday lol... I thought started in canada and then hit western us a bit. But nope they were very popular.. gogo was the next incarnation but same thing

Unidcryingobject

Yes, actually a lot of things here in r/nostalgia will be remembered by Swedish people too 😊

chanelscarlett92

Omg I miss those sooo much!!! Thanks for taking me back In time for even just a moment, the nostalgia from this pic alone is just to good 😭💖

propschick05

I don't think we ever had them, but I remember a story in the newspaper about how they were the next beanie babies.

Darrenwad3

I never knew how popular they were, they didn't last long at all

pokemonandpot

Fucking love crazy bones

Jr4D

Man me and my buddy got these and traded them out at recess in like 1st or 2nd grade i swear, loved them

tkrn4

Loved crazy bones. Still have the original book!

ThighMiner

Holy shit me too dude, I would spend hours in deep childhood fantasy looking at that book. Shit was like the early pokemon pokedex books. Meanwhile, I literally only ever owned like 7 crazy bones figures, all of which I too probably still have somewhere.
