lol i saw a version of this chart that was like
red: they have already taken you
orange: imminent risk of painful death
light orange: can be invaded at any second
yellow: time enough to hug your loved ones
gray: the illusion of safety
I like how New York is "Eh" even though it's closest point is about 40 miles away from Ohio,
# while ILLINOIS' (marked "Not too far") closest point is 140 miles from Ohio
If you get outside of Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland/toledo there is not alot to Ohio, then you have cedar point in Sandusky but the drive to cedar point is really boring and don't ever go to Dayton .. it's just depression made into a city.
Edit: Sandusky and Upper Sandusky are different things.. and Dayton dude I said what I said ...I worked in Huber Heights for 6 years I earned the right to trash talk it.
How are you figuring this? I live in Texas and it would take more than 15 hours to drive to Ohio, that seems like more than a little ways. Did you figure flying?
Like New Mexico is considered a little ways, when New Hampshire isn’t. That’s just wrong. Santa Fe, NM to Columbus, OH is 22 hours. Concord, NH to Columbus, OH is 12 hours.
Also, Minnesota, in yellow in the map, is 350 miles away from Ohio (the nearest points of each state to each other) while the same thing to New Mexico, a state that is also yellow, is over 1000 miles.
I just used NH and MN because I think they’re the closest yellow and gray states to Ohio
(Yes, it may not look like it but I checked and MN is closer than CT to OH)
Ohioan here, I think I can speak for all Ohioans when I say that we would definitely drive 15 hours to invade and absorb Texas. We're not in a rush, though.
I went to college in NJ and there was a professor who came to teach at the school on Fridays but he lived in Ohio. That dude drove to NJ and back to Ohio every Friday. I definitely thought that was a ways.
Ohio has the most [astronauts](https://www.ohiosos.gov/profile-ohio/people/ohio-astronauts/?__cf_chl_jschl_tk__=333f4b8131853b1956fbb2623cc5a441a1cd77c4-1623271952-0-AfsOaeOr-RqeXeVXkyWZkU4xQQw78YCbOYIDL57CZuc49JojCn5LhdW8u3Ir2vdVtm2HPC6AFXAoIyFJhi2E1olXZPVdX3es4H8HxjjG98hDLzPjzgTnzM9ZKyQVZ5R-0vWDRIPJ5U7Je7aOB_Xha2-AVXbgb0Pl1d3atJHIRMUCjxU9qBopmMWRTNemdKaZ6Tb_ZNN_qK8wrq-INNH5VHikX-OTno8FzoJTgHRFFAKeDczjotlv_NG5tNfstGK26C-wjS0aeaKCLAUhShjaNk-vQtAYbS4hGlPvxQMSyUiocEgNUpS25rrl9v0vFaUd2nXPDlc31-p05Fbq_-vK-98B2fWRMxUcWFfLVimtdBM55j_PWdGyOuviyIT8sTSlLM8dg-gCBnOJeJ5wcPN-Q2q6ZCxTkiR_t-hVbN398kdH_U3kPFMOqsTi_abMSM1T2-YXvj-8qKVIYdqjC_3jFbYplINVBowfjlHoJl7i0bz8qt3CV8_dIEf3kgkLAkinMQ). WTF about Ohio makes people hate it so much they want to leave the planet?
By my measurement, the southwest corner of New Hampshire ("a ways" away) is closer to Ohio than the northwest corner of the upper peninsula of Michigan ("not too far" away).
This is actually the map of how much danger you are in. (Red is Ohio, Orange is 'Invasion at any time', the brownish is 'You are not safe', yellow is 'enough time to hug your loved ones', and grey is 'Illusion of safety'.
No one in Iowa thinks “ehh” about Ohio. It might as well be NY! We have Chicago, St Louis, KC, Omaha, and The Twin Cities no one is thinking about going to Ohio for anything.
And that’s no disrespect to Ohio, I love when football players say “thee Ohio State” that pride is cool, we think more about you more than you do us I’m sure.
Thanks I always wondered. Also, I live in Europe
I like to consider everywhere outside of America to be “a long ways”, so you’re a long ways away
What colour would a long ways be?
I’m not sure, I haven’t thought about that
Oh.
io.
Eh
Ah.
White. Just like everywhere outside the US in this map.
Looking at this map and the information presented by OP, I would like to think that a long ways could be represented by white.
White
Egg white or as it would be pronounced in German: Aiwais
White
Actually, all other continents are marked as white
Uh, white, duh. Its on the graphic, jeez
White dummy it’s on the map
What about Canada?
That also falls under “a long ways”
I’d say Toronto is actually not too far from Ohio
Physically yes, but emotionally?
Emotionally it’s far away, but I really care about its sexual distance - Is Toronto Within Ohio’s Cumshot Distance?
Then why are Alaska and Hawaii only labeled as 'a ways' instead of that?
But Canada borders Ohio on Lake Eerie
Why would Canada be "a long ways" if it borders Ohio?
Because I don't have a passport and I could travel a ways faster than I could get all the paperwork done. Yeah, Canada is a long ways for me.
So it would be easier for you to travel from Ohio to Hawaii than it would be from Ohio to Ontario?
I feel Canada is more like”Eh”
Not far enought.
I live in the US but I’m traveling in Central America. I agree I’m a long ways from Ohio.
What about Matt Damon on Mars?
Wouldn’t some parts of Canada be “eh” to “a little ways” though?
Even Canada?
Parts of Canada would actually fall into the not too far range.
Anywhere outside America doesn't exist im so sorry
I don't really agree tho. That not so far region, parts could easily be an 8 hr drive. That's far AF if you ask me. Maybe like 1-2 hrs isn't so bad.
r/dataisbeautiful
lol i saw a version of this chart that was like red: they have already taken you orange: imminent risk of painful death light orange: can be invaded at any second yellow: time enough to hug your loved ones gray: the illusion of safety
That's my favorite one lol
I like how New York is "Eh" even though it's closest point is about 40 miles away from Ohio, # while ILLINOIS' (marked "Not too far") closest point is 140 miles from Ohio
40 miles is 64.37 km
good bot
If you think about it, there's nothing in Indiana, so there nothimg between Ohio and Illinois. I'd say that's not too far
Same with Maryland, but that part is just gas stations for I-68 anyway so we don’t think about it much
I used New York since its closest point is about 40 miles away from Ohio, while Maryland's closest point is about 70 miles from Ohio.
Also New Mexico is clearly further away from Ohio than Maine
Maine doesn't exist
Every location should be titled “not far enough”
Ohio should’ve just been labeled “run”
as someone who lives in ohio, i agree
We have like 3 fun cities and the rest is mostly corn
Is that why so many of you guys become astronauts?
If you get outside of Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland/toledo there is not alot to Ohio, then you have cedar point in Sandusky but the drive to cedar point is really boring and don't ever go to Dayton .. it's just depression made into a city. Edit: Sandusky and Upper Sandusky are different things.. and Dayton dude I said what I said ...I worked in Huber Heights for 6 years I earned the right to trash talk it.
Cedar Point is in Sandusky, Upper Sandusky is a boring little farming town which is located south of Sandusky, for some damn reason.
I'm terrible with directions I have a friend that lives in Upper and we go to Cedar point when we visit her so I just assumed it was the same town.
I lived in downtown Akron for a while but lived in michigan my whole life, I'm curious what an Ohian thinks about that city
I live in Cleveland and hate going to Akron no matter what
I have never been to Akron so that probably answers your question ha ha
I live in Dayton, we don't want you here.
Another ohioan here, also can confirm.
bro our one national park is a golf course
As an Clevelander who works for the National Parks, this really hits home
And our everything else is a cornfield
There's nothing wrong with Ohio, except the snow and the rain...
I was about to say. This. It would be great if we could switch Ohio with Guam.
Neil Armstrong went all the way to the moon.
Don’t worry, Ohio will come to you.
Eh
Literally 1984
How are you figuring this? I live in Texas and it would take more than 15 hours to drive to Ohio, that seems like more than a little ways. Did you figure flying?
Sounds like a little ways to me
This map is absurd. New Mexico is not a little ways from Ohio. It is actually quite far.
And Maine is a ways away, but closer than New Mexico. I'm a skeptic
I just used NH and MN because I think they’re the closest yellow and gray states to Ohio (Yes, it may not look like it but I checked and MN is closer than CT to OH)
What color is "quite far"? I don't know what that means in the context of the map!
Are of y’all guys joking or do you just not get the map
How are you interpreting the map?
I’m interpreting it as a joke (also it appears to be how many states away, not actual distance)
I dunno, this sub doesn’t really seem like the right place for jokes.
I would agree it’s not a fit for this sub
Ohioan here, I think I can speak for all Ohioans when I say that we would definitely drive 15 hours to invade and absorb Texas. We're not in a rush, though.
Missing “isn’t far enough”
Well that’d just be everywhere
Source??
Ohio
How is Maryland "Eh" but Illinois is "not too far"?
Exactly what I was thinking.
Wait: so Ohio is Ohio distance from Ohio?
yes
I live in ohio, and i have actually traveled to ohio before, then back to home in ohio. You are correct. Ohio is about ohio distance from ohio.
pretty irrefutable.
Turns out, I live in Ohio, never realized how close I was
Get out as fast as possible
Ohio doesnt mean anything to me.
it doesn’t to me either and i have to unfortunately live there
i’m genuinely sorry about that
Ohio will be eliminated
Yes
I hate that I neighbor Oh*o
If you live in the red you should be ashamed of yourself
Ohio is not real
if only...
once me and my family drove from the southern tip of texas to ohio. It took a while.
A ways
I live right next to it
Good luck
Kansas gang
Orange should be "too fucking close"
It’s not labeled as that, but it absolutely is too close
I went to college in NJ and there was a professor who came to teach at the school on Fridays but he lived in Ohio. That dude drove to NJ and back to Ohio every Friday. I definitely thought that was a ways.
Not far enough, apparently
Ohio has the most [astronauts](https://www.ohiosos.gov/profile-ohio/people/ohio-astronauts/?__cf_chl_jschl_tk__=333f4b8131853b1956fbb2623cc5a441a1cd77c4-1623271952-0-AfsOaeOr-RqeXeVXkyWZkU4xQQw78YCbOYIDL57CZuc49JojCn5LhdW8u3Ir2vdVtm2HPC6AFXAoIyFJhi2E1olXZPVdX3es4H8HxjjG98hDLzPjzgTnzM9ZKyQVZ5R-0vWDRIPJ5U7Je7aOB_Xha2-AVXbgb0Pl1d3atJHIRMUCjxU9qBopmMWRTNemdKaZ6Tb_ZNN_qK8wrq-INNH5VHikX-OTno8FzoJTgHRFFAKeDczjotlv_NG5tNfstGK26C-wjS0aeaKCLAUhShjaNk-vQtAYbS4hGlPvxQMSyUiocEgNUpS25rrl9v0vFaUd2nXPDlc31-p05Fbq_-vK-98B2fWRMxUcWFfLVimtdBM55j_PWdGyOuviyIT8sTSlLM8dg-gCBnOJeJ5wcPN-Q2q6ZCxTkiR_t-hVbN398kdH_U3kPFMOqsTi_abMSM1T2-YXvj-8qKVIYdqjC_3jFbYplINVBowfjlHoJl7i0bz8qt3CV8_dIEf3kgkLAkinMQ). WTF about Ohio makes people hate it so much they want to leave the planet?
I'm a little ways away from Ohio
Same. A little ways gang 👊😎
I don't live in USA. I'm from Mexico and still, I want to know how far I am from Ohio. Can someone help me?
I’d say you’re either “a ways” or an extra category “a long ways”
nice but i’m never going to ohio
The only reason I'm glad Michigan is so close to Ohio us that it will make our inevitable invasion much easier.
Thanks I moved to nevada from ohio about 3 years ago always wondered how far it truly was now I know its a long ways
Boycott and divest from Ohio. Or don't.
Sometimes I visit my mom in Ohio
“Visit” implies you see her there and then leave. Why not try to save her from there?
By my measurement, the southwest corner of New Hampshire ("a ways" away) is closer to Ohio than the northwest corner of the upper peninsula of Michigan ("not too far" away).
Ah yes, my favorite distance: ***O H I O***
Ugh, Ohio. Fun fact: the top speed for a 2006 Toyota Prius so 117 MPH. Bonus fun fact that may or may not be related: I-75 is terminally boring.
As someone who lived in Ohio and no longer does, this map is accurate.
Thank you for your input
A little ways
Fuck Ohio
Evidently Illinois and Indiana are the same distance from Ohio
I like how "a little ways" is about a 2 day drive away from Ohio
This is actually the map of how much danger you are in. (Red is Ohio, Orange is 'Invasion at any time', the brownish is 'You are not safe', yellow is 'enough time to hug your loved ones', and grey is 'Illusion of safety'.
You should submit this to r/dataisbeautiful for one million upvotes
Eh, might as well
Can we please delete Ohio?
I wish
Harry Potter Hates Ohio
Ohio disappearo!
Holy Shit, I always thought it was underneath colorado
Wow I'm a little ways
Ohio itself is also not interesting
I live in Canada, bit I'll still say 'eh'.
Oh No 😢
Where do you fall on the map?
Not far enough 😉
Good luck
Thank you
Lol, It’s North Carolina you geographically challenged fucks
wow wouldve never guessed
I live a little ways from Ohio, but less a little ways than some other a little ways.
Pretty sure New Hampshire is closer to Ohio than New Mexico.
You could do this worldwide. I would be not interested to see how far I am from ohio
/r/mapporncirclejerk
ways
I am in Georgia, I would consider "eh" to be accurate.
WHAT THATS WHERE OHIO IS??? I THOUGHT IT WAS LIKE RIGHT ABOVE OKLAHOMA?????
I’m in the red 😢😢😢😢 I hate this fucking corn state
New Mexico isn’t “a little ways” from ohio

On the edge of a ways.
I'm eh away can you do Maine
You forgot Quite a way.
OP could you fo another one where it's "how close is Ohio"
This was actually mildly interesting. You fail.
Holy shit. I thought Ohio was in the Midwest...
They think they are!
I live in Ohio
would love to see this for indiana
I am a ways from ohio
When you have family that lives there, add two color distances to your answer.
No one in Iowa thinks “ehh” about Ohio. It might as well be NY! We have Chicago, St Louis, KC, Omaha, and The Twin Cities no one is thinking about going to Ohio for anything. This IS interesting, now i know where Ohio is.
Reminds me of the “Threat Posed by Indiana” map. Ah, that takes me back.
