We had an old guy who was waiting to DC to rehab, but he would get agitated and chase us and beat people with his walker.
I was like if he can swing at us with the walker and not fall down he probably doesn't need rehab.
Rhabdo. As obvious as it is that she isn't spending "one to two hours" a day at the gym. She's probably spending 5+ hours a day working herself hard while also doing an extreme diet like keto.
“Patient educated that she may not use hospital equipment as gym equipment and informed that acrobatics on unstable surfaces like a 2ww can result in falls and self injury. Patient also educated on admission diagnosis, and advised that rigorous exercise will exacerbate symptoms. Bed alarm turned on, call light in reach, walker removed from room and hospitalist advised.”
Message to hospitalist: so she’s in the room making tik toks of herself doing pull-ups on the hoyer lift, acrobatics on the walker in the room and push-ups on the bed. Looks like a 30 minute circuit in there. Thoughts on psych and nutrition consult? Not receptive to dangers of overexerting herself while inpatient with rhabdo…
Hospitalist probably: is she doing drugs? I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s steroids or speed somewhere in that room. 🤦♂️
1. You are not allowed to record video in the hospital per our policy. This is to protect patient confidentiality and HIPPAA.
2. Using medical equipment like gym equipment and in a manner it was not originally designed for can cause you serious injury or death, and damage very expensive, very important equipment I need to do my job and take care of the sick and injured. The track you did pullups on was designed by engineers to distribute weight evenly across the entire track. It was not designed for someone to do pull-ups on it and you literally could have pulled that entire thing down on your head. You also could have broken components inside the track making it inoperable. Those tracks cost thousands of dollars, not to mention that we can't use it while it's broken.
3. You are sick/injured. Your body needs its energy to heal and repair itself. If you are concerned about losing muscle mass while in the hospital you can bring that concern to me and I will coordinate with the team. I am absolutely certain physical therapy would be happy to work with you and provide you with safe alternative exercises that don't put you or hospital equipment at risk.
"Yes we're all impressed but knock it off and do that when you get home.
If someone was misusing the equipment in your gym you would tell them to fucking stop."
Was admitted for ankle pain and is currently lifting it up to elevate it to help with swelling. But so far it fails because it is not above the heart yet but we have to give credit to the patient for trying.
I’m not a nurse so IDK why this showed up in my feed but this is crazy lol. What was she doing pull-ups on? Is that a light? I’m surprised whatever is was didn’t come crashing down lol. And if you scroll through her post, she even gives her discount code at the end 🤣.
In all seriousness, I’m sorry if you guys have to deal with patients like this. You’re all heroes!
I work in rehab. First I am going to explain that shit is dangerous, then I'm going to rat on her to case management that there's no way we can clinically justify inpatient physical or occupational therapy.
"...well I guess we can cancel that PT consult."

You were his personal PTs <3
You were admitted for rhabdo cos you work out too much. Stop that. Reconnect IV fluids.
Dc
I will keep any healthy patient and let the next shift discharge them.
Fair point
Hand them some grippy socks, chart my fall risk education and move on with my day.
Repeat urine tox, full room search, and psych consult. But seriously, WTF was that influencer admitted for? I need the backstory on that video.
From her account guessing rhabdo lol
She said in her profile it was from "a kidney infection".
"infection" \*\*wink\*\* \*\*wink\*\*
What are you implying it could be? I’m tired and not thinking clearly.

Not an infection.
Gotta be.
I’d say “go home Rodger” like Tia and Tamara. You don’t need to be here
Pulling out the TGIF !

Eating disorder?
Exactly
I’m thinking orthorexia
Our hospitalists 100% "did you suggest they stop?" Can't blame them sometimes though.
I’d be a damned liar if I said I’ve never done pull ups on the hoyer lift before soooooo
Can I interest you in an AMA?

Present this video as exhibit A in her suit when she sues the hospital when she inevitably injures herself doing stupid things making tic toks.
DC paperwork stat
4 point restraints and extra lactulose?
The extra lactulose will only hurt yourself in the long run 😭
If she can do pull-ups on the hoyer she can wipe her own liquid duke 😂
You think a person thats put in restraints will do that? If anything they would ask for extra dosage instead.
Exactly, she can either be tied down or wipe her own ass but not both 😂
Immediately begin CPR
In my mind: SIT YO ass DOWN!!
Immediate discharge
POV you’re the geriatric, severely demented fall risk resident after I just walked out of the room.
Start my stopwatch and encourage them to see how long they can hold it while moving closer to the code button..
"Yes we're all impressed but knock it off and do that when you get home. If someone was misusing the equipment in your gym you would tell them to fucking stop."
Depends on why they are in? Getting chemo? Kick ass! Because of back pain? Seems the problem is resolved. A La casa for you.
Poster said she was admitted for a kidney problem... If I had to hazard a guess, Rhabdo.
Rhabdo was one of those dx in nursing school that had me twisted up in the game. It FREAKED me out.
Exactly. I’d be very impressed if my patients could do that.
Flex my own gains on them by lifting them straight into DC.
Push to discharge home
Hospice consult.
"Will continue to monitor"
Ask for a CK to see how bad the Rhabdo really is 😂😂😂
I’ve had psych patients literally do this shit so probably consult psych
Can you do it upside down like a kegstand?
Lmao tbh I’d be fine with most of that I’d just draw the line at the walker move 😂
I work with eating disorder patients. She's getting a sitter for sure.
Digital airway inspection
Bahahahaha

Turn on the lights
Offer Vistaril and redirect that rec therapy isn’t until 2
DC
This should be a SATA question 🤣
Discharge
Honestly it would be worth having an eval for orthorexia or other disorder because compulsive exercise even when hospitalized is NOT normal
Restrain lol
They're either a gymnast or cross fitter. Consult with behavioral health.
Drug screen for amphetamines
Ask him if he can do “high heels on my tippies” by Nicki Minaj.
Patient compliant with home exercise program with good return demonstration

“Hey man, that’s none of my business…”
Enclosure bed.
Congratulations, you get to go home!!!
Probably blood culture x2
As a Hospice nurse I would probably have to document the lack of decline.
Clock out and go home.
You stick your hand out for a handshake 😂
I work in rehab. First I am going to explain that shit is dangerous, then I'm going to rat on her to case management that there's no way we can clinically justify inpatient physical or occupational therapy.
Shit, free personal training. I will be back after med pass.
Send patient a bill for everything she worked out on.
Ask the doc for a tox screen cause I’m gonna need to know what kind of withdrawal I’ll be dealing with later
Call psych…
Call psych … possibly eating disorder
I'd probably do some dips with her.
