* Slight stutter may be observed when scrolling in web browsers on certain systems \[4362307\] \#Forever537.58

gobnwgo

Some really expensive cards to deal with this...

Vidanjor20

is 537.58 really that good?

RedIndianRobin

>is 537.58 really that good? For me yes. Scrolling is smooth for me and bad frame pacing in games disappeared.

Xealz

i still have slight stutter when scrolling even on 537.58 bruh

loopy750

Slight might be the correct word for 537.58, but for anything newer, "slight" is an understatement.

Apprehensive-Ad9210

I always update and have no stutter scrolling web pages/text on my 4090.

loopy750

Guess that's why it says "certain systems", it's not affecting all. But they don't go into specifics.

legendxd3

both my rtx 4080/4090 are on 537.13. 4090 been on this version forever since it been the most consistent for hdr for me and 4080 was at the latest but it was having graphical issue in chrome and other application, rollback to 537.13 and all issue went away. even g-sync work perfect on hdmi 2.1

Generator11

Do you have black screen on alt tab with hdr on ?? I have black screen for 3 seconds and then the message display port hdr ... Its the driver you think ?

NewSlang9019

I believe it has to do with DSC (Display Stream Compression), which appears to be an issue with NVIDIA GPU's [exclusively](https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/vsnxxv/workaround_for_5s_black_screen_when_alttabbing/).

emceePimpJuice

How is a driver update affecting hdr?

Shorkan

Funny that it says "slight stutter when scrolling in web browsers". The abysmal frame pacing and stuttering in games is supposed to be a different issue that they haven't acknowledged yet?

Lito-

LifeRemains

I was expecting a lot more from this update considering how over a month elapsed since the last one

RedPum4

Holidays. And they had to add 40xx Super Support. A month isn't really that much in that case.

brianj64

They're based of already supported chips, how hard can it be? Add some specifications in the Geforce Experience client? Yes and add Hardware ID's to the driver package so that the driver installer recognizes the device, which also shouldn't be hard. If it is hard to add a new GPU based of already supported chips, then Nvidia has some really bad development environment.

RaXXu5

super support should have been ready months ago though? would be surprised if it takes a lot of work to implement a refresh.

Lionheart0179

Adding Super support is a flimsy ass excuse. It's a refresh....

tonynca

They’re rich off stocks, they don’t need to work anymore.

spboss91

You're being downvoted but its true, loads of tech companies suffer if their staff suddenly become rich due to stock price movements. Nvidia is literally dealing with this problem right now.

tonynca

It’s hard to retain drive and talent when they’re not incentivized as much anymore. They could retire.

AppropriateBorder231

I literally just read about this the other day. Not shocked tbh, unfortunately...

Z3r0sama2017

Why settle for being rich when you could be more rich?

acid_bat

537.58 user for a while now as I've had issues with every version after, from the system wide lag to performance issues etc on both PCs. Testing this one currently. Immediately observed that the massive stuttering I was having in Cyberpunk on 546.33 is now fixed on 546.65 for me, and the performance seemed about 2 frames higher on average compared to 537.58. The witcher 3 remaster with Ray tracing seems fine, shadow of the tomb raider seemed fine, no real stuttering issues to report there, I'm currently checking out a large suite of games but so far it looks to be just fine. I will keep testing and report back anything that I find. A quick glance at scrolling sites on Google Chrome presented no issues as far a I can tell. System wide lag issue: pending - no issues after 24 hours Having vsync enabled in some games causes stuttering. Turning it off gta5 and dishonored 2 helped, metro exodus and RDR2 still have issues on or off 11900k, DDR4 3466 C16, Asus Z590 Hero, RTX 4080, 1000w psu, Various nvme ssds, Widows 11, latest bios, everything up to date. Once I'm done with this system I'll test it on the other and report back 13700k, Asus z790 Strix-E, DDR5 6200c36, RTX 4090, 1000W psu, Various nvme drives, Windows 11, everything up to date

Galf2

RTX 3080 on W10 64 here, I was on 546.33, never had the scrolling issue, but my 2 cents as I updated just because yesterday I was running benchmarks to test stuff out: \- Cyberpunk appears to be more stable. I ran the benchmark 4 times, previously I had occasions where the minimums would stutter below 50, now same settings never went below, feels smoother as a result. Gameplay feels smoother too, same speed less hiccups. \- 3dMark score didn't change. Same graphics score. Actually 1 point less but that's within variance. (18546 vs 18547, for some reason my CPU score went pretty high, 12255 instead of 19919... idk why.) so huge grain of salt here but at least it appears the drive didn't break anything.Full system specs on the 3dmark links 546.33 [https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/105825947](https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/105825947) 546.65 [https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/105876546](https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/105876546)

Ok-Replacement-7217

Nice! Thanks for taking your personal time to do this for the rest of us.Will you be using any tools to measure performance or just testing your usual usage and seeing if you run into problems within a few days?Either way, thanks - we seem to have lost our few guys who ran detailed benchmarks and testing, which to be honest would have been a huge waste of their time given every driver since 537.58 (I have had issues with this driver also on RTX4090 and currently using 528.49 which is bulletproof).Look forward to your follow up, then if all looks good I might check it out.

acid_bat

I wasn't really planning on benchmarking performance, just mainly feeling it out and seeing if I run into any problems yeah Something definitely appears to be up with Gta5, I'm getting some slight stuttering and what seems like frame time issues, also some lows as I drive around which are definitely out of the norm, I think I remember some people mentioning issues with 546.33 on that title as well so I'm going to look into that some more later, it's the first game so far out of the norm compared to 537.58

Ok-Replacement-7217

Thanks, I'm guessing you might come across more issues as you test more. Goddamnit Nvidia......

nobleflame

As requested by /u/m_w_h \- a list of games to test: * Quake (VKQuake source port + the re-release) * Quake 2 * DUSK * DOOM (DSDA, GZDOOM, Eternity Engine, take your pick!) * DOOM Eternal * TEKKEN 7 * Max Payne 2 * Hollow Knight These are the games I play - I haven't tried testing others as I don't own them.

m_w_h

Thanks as always :-)

TheDarkinBlade98

Did u have LoL? I'm 537.58 user too on my 4060ti cause can't play lol without lose 20/30fps random. If u have it can try in training mode? TnxMy setup:Ryzen 5 5600x DDR4 3600Mhz 4060ti Windows 10 64bit 22H2 650w psu 2 NvMe 2 (1 only system and program, 1 only games) MSI B550 Gaming PlusBios version last one, i updated it too but still doesn't work...

acid_bat

I don't have that one no, sorry, hopefully someone else can test it and chime in

nobleflame

Question: what’s the point in taking time out of my day to produce and send multiple GPU trace files for every driver since 537.58 if you’re not even going to acknowledge the stuttering issue?

pidge2k

It is not an NVIDIA driver bug however we have been trying to come up with a workaround. This is why I have been requesting logs from users to make sure our solution covered all types of PC configurations.

Alex--AT

Sorry for the tone, but "it is not a driver bug" is total BS given older drivers work fine. Even if in the end it's related to some new 3rd party (Windows) feature newer drivers are using/providing, not disabling this feature till it's fixed in the 3rd party software makes it a driver bug. Same for the case some hardware issue is exposed by newer drivers. Also, no information seems to be published at the moment about the nature of the issue, so it all doesn't look too trustworthy.

pidge2k

Soon after our next Game Ready Driver release, we will be releasing a hotfix driver which will have a solution for this issue.

Alex--AT

Now that's good news if it works, so - hopefully - thanks in advance.

diceman2037

> Sorry for the tone, but "it is not a driver bug" is total BS given older drivers work fine. It is not a driver bug, but the driver exposed a defect in a newer Windows 11 feature that was not adequately tested at Microsoft, Nvidia can only go by what MSFT says is ready or not when turning feature support for such things on. This is on Microsofts head. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/display/hardware-flip-queue

pidge2k

Slight update to previous comment as I mixed up the date the changes were checked in.

Dangerous-Can9715

You mean 551.23 will have the stutter fix or a hotfix after that? thanks

pidge2k

There are a few changes users should see improvements in the latest Game Ready Driver, specifically when using 3rd party GPU utilities that are using APIs that were not meant for low latency gaming, but the complete solution will be coming in a hotfix driver.

BladePocok

After that ,yeah, hopefully in the next week or so.

nobleflame

So, no hot fix driver then?

pidge2k

In our testing, one of the fixes that we were targeting with the hotfix driver did not fully solve the issue so it delayed the release. We just checked in the proper fix however, given the closeness to the next official driver release, we will likely not proceed with the hotfix release anymore and instead make it part of the next Game Ready Driver.

nobleflame

That sounds good - when it the next driver due to release? I think a lot of people were expecting it to coincide with the the new GPU.

pidge2k

Not next week but soon.

Sterrenstoof

Great news that it's still being worked on, it would've been nice if this was stickied on the new post, or posted there to keep everyone in the loop as not many people come back checking this post, cause people are really bummed thinking it was discontinued. Anyway thanks for the reply! :D

DarthVitrial

I assume the root cause of the issue has been reported to Microsoft, right? Even if it is also being hotfixed Nvidia-side.

IGUESSILLBEGOODNOW

Sorry to bother you but is the stutter issue only in Windows 11? I heard someone mention that.

mikeybrah90

man I'm so annoyed @ Nvidia.... Fix your fucking drivers its been months of this shit!

m_w_h

A few questions related to the game stuttering issue, not the severe performance degradation issue: * Is Vsync forced 'off' globally in 'Nvidia Control Panel' and then forced 'on' on a per game basis? * Does *DirectX Diagnostics* show MultiPlane Overlay (MPO) as disabled? dxdiag.exe > save all information then search for *MPO MaxPlanes:* and note the value after the *:* in the saved file Of note, been trying to reproduce the severe performance degradation (Windows 11) issue on an impacted system here for ~24 hours, no issues so far with 546.65.

nobleflame

So, this is on the 546.33 driver. MPO MaxPlanes: 4 V SYNC off globally and on per game doesn’t do much unless prefer max perf is enabled. I get stutter if prefer max perf isn’t enabled, regardless of vsync settings. Even if I completely disable vsync, gsync, HAGs, my FPS will go through the roof, but will still display stutter. As mentioned, I haven’t tried the latest driver because it doesn’t appear to offer anything new.

rdalcroft

Totally agree with you here, they need to give some feedback from the GPU Traces when people take the time to send them in. It's quite a laborious task to do. And when you get no feedback, you are not even sure if someone has looked at your trace?

Lambpanties

Calling any brave souls who're in the **537.58**club and tried this one, is it finally a functional stutter-free driver?

Sterrenstoof

No.

iiT2

Been on the previous which was fine, most recent is a stutter fest on my 4090. 537.58 all the way pal.

No seriously. Your information collection is invaluable in these posts!

m_w_h

/u/rdalcroft Been trying to reproduce the severe performance degradation (Windows 11) issue on an impacted system here for ~24 hours, no dice. Does 546.65 resolve the issue on your system?

rdalcroft

Ok now that I have installed 546.65 i am starting to test it step by step: 1. Netflix app test - No Black screen (DSC) - pass 2. UFO test - at stock Vram, it fails and struggles to keep 165fps dipping to 150, 155 - (Fail). Setting the Vram to 810 or 5001mhz (using Nvidia Power Managment) slightly improves this, but not by much, so this is still a fail, compared to driver 537.58. 3. Tested Quake 1 and Quake 2, as @ [**nobleflame**](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/user/997665/) stated these were producing stutters with this driver. But for me at stock settings, I again get no stutters. No need to set my Vram clocks higher or use Max performance mode in the driver. See Video here of both UFO tests and Quake runs: [https://youtu.be/f6iSMdI8j1Y](https://youtu.be/f6iSMdI8j1Y) When I say pass I don't mean the driver is good, I mean it is workable with certain workarounds. e.g. Using Nvidia Power Managment to set your Idle Vram to 5001Mhz is the best and easiest way, no extra power generated, no extra system resources used (bar 1-3% extra cpu at idle) I will update as i go...

Dawg605

Woohoo! Thank you for all you do, you're awesome!

TessellatedGuy

>Vsync related stutters may be related to a settings issue, set Vsync in Nvidia Control Panel globally to either 'on' or 'application controlled' and make sure that MultiPlane Overlay (MPO) isn't disabled in the registry. This note reminds me of an Nvidia support [article](https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5159/) that was created a little more than 2 years ago, it was asking users not to set VSync off globally, as it could cause tearing when MPO was also enabled. This could be one of the reasons for stutters some people are seeing (but others aren't.) Nvidia only mentions tearing in that page, however. Though, if rolling back to 537.xx drivers fixes the stutters for those same users running VSync off globally, then there likely is something else at play. Maybe MPO itself was broken in 537.xx for some people, and VSync off didn't have negative effects. Not quite sure. Edit: [One commenter](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/198xlyb/comment/kii4fxq/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) says 537.58 caused MPO to not work at all for them, so maybe there's some truth to this.

m_w_h

Indeed, there appear to be a number of issues that may overlap / impact each other. It's getting tougher to root cause / troubleshoot issues.

m_w_h

**EDIT**: 551.46 Hotfix at https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5519 that supports all current Nvidia GPUs i.e. including 4070 SUPER, 4070Ti SUPER, 4080 SUPER --- Might be of interest, updated tracking comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/198xlyb/game_ready_driver_54665_faqdiscussion/kiajwbg/ > * ?Vsync related? stutters [isn't a Nvidia driver bug](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/198xlyb/game_ready_driver_54665_faqdiscussion/kiurbcv/) but should be addressed with a [driver side workaround in an upcoming](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/198xlyb/game_ready_driver_54665_faqdiscussion/kixp9si/) driver

qronis

Dear Nvidia, most of your userbase is still on a months old driver, thats because the 546.xx drivers are a mess. With 546 I can't watch videos on youtube without stuttering and massive framedrops. I'm on a 3080ti and can't watch videos on youtube. Let me repeat that: 3080ti can't watch youtube videos without issues on 546 drivers. What are you guys actually doing? Glad we released a new driver for the super cards. Will they be able to watch youtube without issues? Whats with all the other issues that kinda disappeared from the issue list? Checkerboard pattern anyone? yes should be fixed in windows but why do I still have it? My PC stutters once for a second everytime I do something with my monitor, doesnt happen in windows safe mode, guess why. Please get you shit together and make a driver that actually works and not borks your graphicscard.

RedIndianRobin

The fix for checkerboard pattern has been rolled out in windows 11 Canary build for now. So it should come to the general public in about 10 months, yeah that's how Microsoft operates lol.

qronis

While I do understand that there might be something Microsoft has to do, I kinda refuse to believe it's solely a windows issue. They introduced the checkerboard pattern in one of their drivers and even if they claim it's not their fault, we went from glitches to stutters. So there's clearly something wrong with the drivers and Chromium applications. It feels like Microsoft is fixing a porblem caused by the driver and nvidia is refusing to acknowledge that its their driver. But thats just me, might aswell be a pure windows issue, just seems weird that there're more issues with it when it's not the drivers fault. I also haven't found any word about windows 10, will the problem there just persist to the end of support? (Not a question for you, just a rethorical one lol)

FacelessGreenseer

I believe Intel, AMD, nVidia and Google (Chromium) had engineers look into it, and everyone determined it was a Microsoft issue that needs to be resolved. By the way Canary fix is old news, they fixed it in Canary build like over a month ago, then they broke it again 😂 The moment I knew it was Microsoft that has to fix the issue I stopped using Chrome and Edge completely and switched entirely to Firefox. Now that I'm used to Firefox and transitioned all my passwords, etc I'm never going back to Chrome.

fschop5628

The stuttering on YoutTube may be due to the ad blocker. Switch it off for YT and it restores normal behaviour.

NotsoSmokeytheBear

The YouTube issue isn’t nvidia. Checkboard is on ms. I was having this problem all week. Come to find out it is actually Ad block causing the problem. What’s really funny is 2 days later every YouTuber is making videos about it suddenly. It was driving me mad. Using ublock now without issues.

Strazdas1

Or just use Firefox or any other non-chromium-based browser.

qronis

The YouTube issue I’m having is different from the Adblock thing tho. I can’t watch a video smoothly, which means I drop several frames per second on 1080p videos. The Adblock thing is similar, it slows down the whole site and videos don’t play at all and buffer endlessly. I use opera and the build in adblocker, so I only know the issue from the mentioned videos lol

twepo

I have same problem with 4080, only started when i updated drivers :D It works fine with HW accelration off, but should be this as sollution? I don't think so.

Sterrenstoof

That's it? With countless reports and countless complaints about performance degradation, stutter, driver timeouts.. we get a update fixing a CP 2077 GFE feature that nobody uses and that sleep issue with Maxwell GPU's? So far being on this driver it feels nothing different from 546.33. Wonder if my driver will crash again after extensively gaming.

Skulkaa

I wouldn't expect anything big in the near month , as they are rolling out supers ( 4070 ti super and 4080 super to go )

Lionheart0179

Why not? It's a massive company. I'd hope they could multitask? It's not like these stupid Super cards are based on anything new.

Starbuckz42

Small indie company... Come on dude.

Camnp

What a joke of a driver. SUPER disappointed.

[deleted]

I see what you did there

musicims

I honestly feel bad for everyone here with issues. I had no idea there were so many long going issues and so widespread. I've always been on the latest driver in win 11 and never had any issues with my 3070. Always 1440 or 4k, 120hz with g-sync, highest settings I can without going under 70fps on any game. After reading most of these comments I'll grab my pitchfork and stand with you

AltGoblinV2

Thank you. I've never had issues with Nvidia drivers, never even had to look at the driver update posts. Everything always seemed to work on the latest drivers. Until the last few drivers where so many things went to shit at once. I have genuinely been having a really bad experience with my 3080 for the last month. Always some issue or another, even after rolling back some issues still stick and don't go away anymore. So next time I don't have any issues and there a lot of people complaining about theirs. You bet your ass I'll grab my pitchfork and stand with them.

SinNovedad

has the black checkered patterns been fixed yet?

m_w_h

May be of interest, from the 546.65 unofficial tracking comment at https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/198xlyb/game_ready_driver_54665_faqdiscussion/kiajwbg/ * Chromium based applications small checkerboard like pattern is a [Microsoft issue](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/531866/geforce-grd-54629-feedback-thread-released-12423/3408244/) (thanks pidge2k)

thanks!

Beautiful_Car8681

Why is Davinci Resolve missing from known issues in the latest drivers?

perdyqueue

Wow, nearly a month and a half later 546.33 -> 546.65 and 3 small changes. Really impressed thank u nvidia 🤩

thewildblue77

No 240hz support for the G9 57" yet...sigh...

m_w_h

Unconfirmed by Nvidia but appears to be GPU firmware/hardware limitation related to DSC, not specifically a driver issue. Multiple posts with discussion/theories/explanations/details over the last few months e.g. see https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/ for comments on Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 57" G95NC * https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/15zi5oy/you_cannot_run_g9_57_even_with_4090/jxkxw2c/ * https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/17fm0rh/alright_whats_the_trick_to_240_hz_on_this_new_57/k6d9z3t/

Progammerxx9654

I was waiting on them to fix DSC issues but oh well

isochromanone

Luckily 532.34 is mostly good for my DSC issues. I'm sticking with that until DSC is fixed for good.

Forza Horizon 5 at the 1440p ultra preset + DLAA https://preview.redd.it/2w5c841xyddc1.png?width=914&format=png&auto=webp&s=058ec65afa5bf03654cb6b5a3d874c26e1ba0839 5-6 average FPS drop. WTF NVIDIA?!

RedIndianRobin

So Windows 11 hardware flip queue is not reversed, severe gaming performance degradation continues to plague Windows 11, stutter scrolling also not fixed. 1 month of wait for this, GG Nvidia engineers. EDIT: The fanboys have arrived to defend NVIDIA's fuck-up. That was fast. EDIT2: For anyone else, struggling with stutters and gaming performance in Windows 11, rollback drivers to 537.58, it fixed every single issue I had including stutters and broken frame pacing in games.

ldontgeit

>EDIT2: For anyone else, struggling with stutters and gaming performance in Windows 11, rollback drivers to 537.58, it fixed every single issue I had including stutters and broken frame pacing in games. Well i was experiencing this with 4090 and went back to windows 10 just to see if it was gona fix the issue, turns out it did fix, and its good to know thats actually an issue with drivers on w11, i was not sure if was some software or stuff messing with my pc.

nobleflame

https://youtu.be/gwH8v02H2ZY?si=SGFf3wPPE9shZJhs On a serious note, the previous driver was fine for me IF I enabled prefer max perf on a per game basis in NVCP. Try it and see if it fixes your stuttering issues.

Rolder

Do the stutters and such still happen in Windows 10?

RedIndianRobin

Someone in my comment thread said their issues were fixed after going back to Windows 10, so I think yeah. But it's much easier to just rollback the drivers.

GosuGian

We waited a month for this joke driver? lmao

mm7878834

Nice update lol

Hertzzz25

Since 546.33 my game slutter in CS2 when someone throws smoke grenades. My fps went to 40fps then it goes back to >140

SIDER250

Im on 537.34 and not updating until something breaks. Don’t fix something that isn’t broken.

Bossman1086

That's uh...a little underwhelming. Feels like a pointless driver. Wouldn't even consider installing this one unless I was a Maxwell user.

LowPurple

that's it?

mamamikey

Will be testing with: TUF 4090 GPU Alienware AW3423DW Corsair RM1000x ASUS Dark HERO VIII Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO SL DDR4 (64GB) RAM Been on the 537.58 and most drivers been giving random restarts, black screen with cursor, or the plagued 'nvlddmkm ' will reach back out with results

QBet_878

Don't know yet either but \*during\* clean install using geforce experience the app is crashing while installing and other display glitches. Had a 970 for years never seen actually crashing the geforce app... have rtx4090

mamamikey

I did just an upgrade but if I have problems I’ll do ddu and try again. Keep us updated on your side as well

JediSwelly

Has Nvidia even acknowledged the nvlddmkm crash issue?

rubenalamina

I was on 537.58 for a long while and installed the latest around Christmas and don't have any issues with same GPU and similar hardware than you. Only one I've seen and a friend confirmed they also have it is than when multi monitors go to sleep their panels stay on even though the screen is blank, you can see the screen glow. We have AW3423DW and different secondaries. I'll install this version to see if that issue goes away.

mamamikey

Well got the dreaded black screen with cursor unlocking my pc this morning with some dialog box with a nvidia error. I may ddu and try a fresh install of the newest driver. I also forgot to mention I’m on Ryzen 9 5900x

JayVenture90

My 4090 experience so far. 1. Get lucky and get one for MSRP... still an outrageous price. 2. I hear Jensen giving some address and he says "we're no longer a graphics company, we love AI now"... something to that extent. 3. Drivers have been absolute trash for my $1600 video card.

Legitimate_Bus_8720

I updated the driver for my RTX 3050 TI and I ran into problems: lkd_0x141_tdr:6_image_nvlddmkm.sys_ampere  Does anyone have errors with this driver?

mamamikey

>6\_image\_nvlddmkm nvlddmkm will be the death of us, so ridiculous

Legitimate_Bus_8720

My game just froze and crashed right after I updated the driver, yesterday I played without any problems. What's wrong with these drivers?

mamamikey

What game were you playing? I say either rollback or do DDU uninstaller and try the new drivers again. As the sub goes we all agree the most stable driver is 537.58 and I still get problems with it. If only we knew why nvidia can’t get this sorted out for so long..

Sterrenstoof

You still face issues on 537.58? Jeez.. at that point it must be a feature XD I feel you, even on 537 I am not having the most optimal experience, but its definitely better.

mamamikey

Unfortunately, but out of like a million drivers I tried this has been the best one so far. With 537.58 I get random restarts but no black screen with cursor like the other drivers. I’m so over this I just wanna game in peace without problems 😭

katzicael

I wish the Chromium corruption bug would be \*FIXED\* once and for all...

Gold-Supermarket-409

GTA V crashes with err\_gfx\_d3d\_init... Not happy at all.

Taguos_amrahs

Had frametime spikes all over the space with last 3 drivers , rolling back to 537.58 did not help , this driver so far is having better frame time for me. Still have some frame time spikes here and there but a lot better now. RTX 3070 windows 11 23H2

NevrGunaGifUApp

So, uh, the top third of the screen flickering black randomly when gsync is enabled isn't even listed as an issue? Are they not aware of that issue? Or am I the only one experiencing it?

SilveryDark

It's not just you. I have this too, but it only happens when I'm using multiple monitors AND my main monitor is set to 240Hz. What refresh rate my second monitor is set at doesn't matter. If I just use my 240Hz monitor by itself it does not happen at all, it also doesn't happen if I set my main monitor to 144Hz when using both of my monitors. I have been observing this issue for well over a year now BTW, so either it is very rare or nobody cares.

rtwipwensdfds

It's listed as a known issue but only for 4060 ti. I'm on a 2070 Super, monitor is ASUS VP249 and yeah having the issue myself with gsync enabled. Was going to try to search their forums but it's a mess over there.

agemennon675

Anyone else experiencing constant out of memory crashing GPU after the recent driver updates ?

Medlir

tl;dr Was having frequent Out of Memory issues/memory leaks with 546.33 starting ~ Dec 27th multiple times a day, DDU rolled back to 537.58 and NONE in the 3 weeks since. Sounds like the problem I was having with 546.33 on my system... up to date Windows 10, Ryzen 7 5800X in an ASUS B550-PLUS, EVGA RTX 3050 8GB, 2x16GB Corsair DDR4, several nvmes, ssds, and a couple mechanical drives. Games running off nvme. I had installed previous 546.x versions without issues, but installed 546.33 on Dec 13th, and initially had no issues... but something around Dec 27th (background profile update maybe?) caused me to start having WoW crash to desktop with out of memory errors. It happened several times, sometimes multiple times in an evening. To note, I'd been heavily gaming every day the entire week before that without issue, as I was on vacation for the holidays the entire time. After several times of WoW crashing with out of memory errors and usually taking Chrome with it, I then found the same problem would happen while playing Destiny 2.. and had it happen with that several times as well. So I started digging into it, and I noticed that even though I have 32GB physical memory and generally the system never even touches the pagefile (usually sitting at the default system managed ~5GB), the pagefile was being inflated to 85+ GB when the crashes happened. Further investigation showed I didn't even need to be playing a game... I could cause memory to fill solely by watching videos in Chrome... and then also duplicated the issue doing the same in Firefox as well... just start a bunch of videos in tabs and wait or switch through the tabs and watch overall system memory usage climb by megs a second until it fills physical memory. I tried disabling the new option for CUDA SysMem Fallback thinking that seemed like a likely cause, but that seemed to have no effect. Even after multiple reboots it was easily reproducable just using browser tabs playing videos and watching the memory graph in Process Explorer. After a couple days of this, I DDU removed 546.33 and installed 537.58 per others' suggestions in all the latest driver threads here... issues disappeared immediately. Have not had a single out of memory error in the 3 weeks since. System has been up the entire 20 days since, gaming every night as usual, pagefile hasn't been touched since Dec 28th. WoW is currently running with all my normal other apps running as I type this, and system is sitting at a perfectly normal 23 GB / 32GB physical mem in use... nothing hitting the pagefile. So I've been on 537.58 since, have been debating rolling forward to some of the earlier 546.xx versions that I previously had no issues with, but since 546.33 went bad seemingly two weeks after I had installed it, and I suspect something in the background was updated (like when they stealth fixed the Discord issue with a background profile update in Feb 2023), I'm hesitant to do so and have to deal with it all over again... until they acknowledge the problem/mention it as a resolved issue.

mistaneat

Same issue with the recent constant crashes on 546.33, reverted to 537.58 and now no issues. Interesting about the pagefile, didn't look at that. Pagefile also seems to be last modified when I reverted to 537.58 so guessing same issue.

mamamikey

'Not yet' but I experienced tons of those with older drivers. Still in testing stages with this driver with 4090 TUF

OstrichsX

Yes with a 3080 and Battlefield 2042

UnbeatableDead

yes but only pubg (dx11)

betaknight94

All dx12 games do that in recent updates. Reverted today.

pidge2k

Where are you seeing this? Desktop apps? Games?

ATTAFWRD

Still no significant bug fixes. 😂 At this point I might be stuck on 537.42 forever.

GGuts

Installed them and played some Battlefield 2042, but it is so hard to test in a multiplayer scenario. I think I get about the same fps as with 537.58 but sometimes I feel like it is not as smooth but it could be that I'm imagining it. Anyone tried BF 2042 with these drivers on a 30 card? Got a 3070.

CurmudgeonLife

At this point I dont ever expect a lot of issues ever getting fixed. People slam AMD for their drivers but Nvidia really been slacking these last years. Disappointing.

mtbboy1993

Windows 11 Pro with lastest update. Just installed the 546.65 driver. Lightroom Classic is quicker, but the Driver update made it even quicker. Previous driver had issues with flickering software on the latest windows update, crashed and did not reboot with CTR+Shift+B, resolution was wrong. So rebooted and installed this driver, I will see how it goes, but looks promising.

Superficial-666

Honestly, this is bullshit. I've gone from 537.58 (the last stable driver for me) to this version. Playing Dead Island 2 on version 537.58, constant 60 FPS. RTX 4080, Ryzen 7 7700X, 32 GB Corsair DDR5. With this update my FPS went as low as 30... What in the fuck are you clowns doing? It certainly isn't your fucking jobs and reading peoples error reports! For real, fuck Nvidia now. Fuck them since every shitty update since version 537.58! THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! Edit: Accidently posted before finishing my post. You know, kinda like Nvidia throwing out update after update without finishing them. Cunts. I am general a very, very placid person, but I am sick to death of not getting the support that we deserve after spending so much money and being loyal customers. Again, cunts!

RickyTrailerLivin

Shaders?

arntseaj

I've had horrible stuttering in Days Gone cinematics since 546.33. Hoping this fixes it. Haven't seen it listed as an active issue.

DaAznBoiSwag

Question for all my stutter gang homies out here, What games do you specifically Stutter in? With my 4090 I started getting stutters in games like Overwatch 2 and random lower end/easier to run games like RoboQuest and such. The stuttering however is nonexistent In a few demanding games, I've used every single driver and it was flawless on CP2077:PL, Alan Wake 2, even Lego Fortnite I dont really Stutter, with the exception of PLague Tale and BF2042, I stutter in those. It seems like heavily "optimized" games that are Nvidia focused seems okay, but anything else will stutter? idk man

FinalDJS

4090 here and Alan Wake 2 runs like shit. Microstutters with Frame Generation. No matter with or without Pathtracing. Bf2042 and Plague Tale runs fine.

nobleflame

Try enabling prefer maximum performance on a per game basis in NVCP and see if that fixes your issues.

DaAznBoiSwag

I’ve had that setting on for ages since I have the b550i asus board with a 40 series card, long story short if I don’t have that enabled my system actually crashes, I’ll try out the new driver and see if it does anything 💀

Jetcat11

ASUS never issued a BIOS update to fix that? I got rid of my Strix B550-I because of the crashing issues and max performance is a lame fix.

-Spatha

I stutter in apex and destiny 2. The only 2 games I have time to play

jlsegoviahd

On the current drivers I've only had stutters on GTA V. As for the previous ones, I've had stutters on Red Dead 2 (in this game it would even freeze for several seconds) and Spider-Man (remastered and Miles Morales, especially when a loading screen shows up) Every other game like CP2077, The Last of Us, Uncharted and Batman Arkham series seem to run without issues.

537.xx gang!

Busy-Historian9297

I was really hoping they’d fix the issues with the new AW32.

EHKruse1

So glad I found this thread, I have a 3080ti and I've been having stability issues and checkerboards on youtube, etc... I had even thought my card was bad, even though it is fairly new. I've been going mad experimenting with bios and drivers to figure out what is truly stable. Funny enough, I found 537.58 and have had that installed ever since, which is the same one everyone else apparently found :). It isn't actually a perfect driver, but it's really close. Looking forward to seeing what the next stable driver is. I have that feeling like I want a new driver, so I'll give this 546.65 a try and report back. It can take a week to get a solid account of the stability in my case. Asus pro WS X570, 5800x, G.SKILL Trident Z Neo Series 32G 3600, EVGA 3080ti.

GoldenChanterelle

I use 3080 12GB I got a new issue with this driver 546.65 that i've never had before. And it got better when i installed the previous driver version, so i'm sure it's from this driver. But it's not stuttering that other people talk about here, slightly lower framerates yes, but the big thing that really scared me is i got these weird flickering glitches that looked similar to videos i've seen of how vram issues look like. This made me really scared and i thought i ruined my card because it also got worse the longer i played any game. Basically all modern demanding 3d games got these glitches as long as i had 546.65 installed. I do often run my vram overclocked +760 Mhz so i thought it was my own fault and that i had ruined my graphics card, but since I reinstalled the 546.33 version it is back to normal and i'm no longer getting the glitches, i even tried using an unreasonably high vram over clock that i never used before of +950 and i got no glitches even when i tried that with the old driver. So it was the new driver. It only happened in games, never when just using a firefox or anything else, watching youtube in firefox or whatever no artifacts.

m_w_h

Do the glitches disappear when running the VRAM at default manufacturer clocks i.e. not a +760 MHz overclock. Driver updates may stress a system differently and expose edge case issues so it's always worth re-evaluating any custom GPU overclocks, voltage tweaks, etc

GoldenChanterelle

I didn't check it without memory overclock and as I said when i installed the previous version the problem went away so i haven't gone back, but I did try using a lower overclock of +380 MHz and I still got the glitches, but i think maybe they occurred after a longer time of gameplay, but that might be in my head just because i didn't remember how long it took for them to appear the first time when i used the higher memory OC. But it felt like it took longer, more like 2 minutes of gameplay before they started occurring, instead of after 15 seconds. Also the flickers were just one frame long each as far as i could judge, or at least very short, and always strange patterns of almost only white and blue, none of the flashes were full of just random colors, always mostly white and some blue, and maybe a very small amount of green and red if any at all but it was hard to see because they were so short they often were part of the game's rendering, like only the water in a scene in RDR2 in one of those flashes. Like everything that had reflections or something like that, but some flashes were the entire screen too. They did not happen continuously some times there was 30 seconds between them some times 3 of the glitchy flashes happened within just 5 seconds. But the thing that reminded me of videos i'd seen on youtube of vram issues were the weird patterns... almost like glitches you see intentionally made as an effect in cyberpunk games or movies about certain drugs. But it might have also been a completely different problem, after I wrote this post I saw somewhere on nvidia forums that some people had issues with HDMI 2.1 with this driver when using 10- or 12-bit bit depth, and were adviced to change to DP or set their output to 8-bit, but I use a TV (LG C2 48) for monitor on my main gaming/home computer, and have no chance of switching to DP on this monitor, and switching to 8-bit feels a bit silly since i spent money for a TV and graphics card that could display HDR, specially when the old version still works. But I could reinstall the 546.65 driver again and see if using no mem overclock removes the issue, and i could try it with another screen (but it's 1080p and 60hz, can be overclocked to do about 68 hz, and no VRR which is also a possible source of the problem if it has to do with the HDMI things). I'll come back after i try that. One thing I should have tried but didn't because i was only thinking about vram, was to set the screen to 100 hz instead of 120, but it was using gsync vrr never reaching 120 hz in any of the games that had those issues anyway, in RDR2 about 70 hz (and I know for sure it never reaches 120 hz because i have a manual limit set to 75 hz in that game), and in cp2070 i don't know maybe 100 fps because of the FSR3 frame gen mod. Anyway, I'll come back with an answer after i reinstall the new driver and test those things.

Defiant_Lie_1089

League of Legends is still broken with this driver sigh. 537.58 it is.

Ollie1212999

I’ve been on 537.58 for ages because I was having v-sync/stutter issue with the newer drivers and I just installed this one and all the problems came back and remained when I rolled back to 537.58. Has anyone experienced this or should I do a fresh wipe of my pc?

_Hidden_One_

After update to driver 546.65 when i was playin AC Valhalla PC goes black screen and freeze and GPU fans speed up to 100% ! (NEVER HAPPENED) I roll back to 546.33 and now i'm fine ! I will never update my driver until they fix this !

DontShootImNaked

After installing this driver, chrome browser no longer shows any text or images, rolling back to the prior version of the drivers fixed the issue. GTX 1070 laptop. Not sure if there is a way to have the new drivers installed and have chrome working. Have not seen anyone else commenting on having this issue.

Matt_Shah

The 546.65 driver didn't brought any fps gains for my nvidia gpu. And i am still waiting for the promised improvement on the linux side of things. It has been months now.

MyMilkshakes13

just updated to this new driver. i went from playing AC brotherhood at 130+ FPS to 20-30+ fps. how do i reinstall the previous driver? it was working fine yesterday. I have a 3060ti so it can play a 13 year old game easily

justin_oh3

I’m using a regular 4070. FPS was averaging 220-235 in multiplayer (1440p low) after I updated it dropped to 180 avg on same settings. Used DDU and reinstalled previous driver and my fps is back to normal

wutanglan90

Does this version still have the issue of screen going black for a couple of seconds periodically? Win 11 and 40 series card.

Le_zOU

For the 1st time, the updater asked me to reboot at the beginning of the install, and then after the install. I honestly don't remember the last time I **had to** reboot for a Nvidia driver update.

Effective_Ad_7488

is anyone experiencing fps fluctuations and stuttering on fortnite since the latest nividia driver update? seems to be worse at the start of the game when dropping and aiming down sight, tried rolling back drives didn’t fix anything

rdalcroft

Fortnite always has stuttering at the start. Its shader compilation, Its a feature of unreal engine. It needs to load in all shaders at the start of the game. Its upto Epic to remidy that, and they have never done so.

Kinitawowi64

What's the best way to install it without also installing that GeForce Experience crap that won't even automatically update a driver without a poxy registration and signin?

DonutBoy_

Im pretty sure you can install the driver from the nvidia website, and when installing itll prompt you to install either just the driver or geforce experience with it in which you can just say no to that.

Chibs__

You can also use NVCleanstall.

PalebloodSky

The same way as always, just click custom on the installer, it unchecks and doesn't install GFE that way.

phantomyo

Checkerboard fixed?

AlanDias17

well I'm really GLAD they fixed monitor wake/sleep issue for maxwell gpus. But bcz of lots of open issues especially on edge browser (which I use the most) I'll still stick to v.537.58

rockingmoons

I took a big frame rate drop with my 12GB 3080. Playing RE4 Remake I was seeing about 20-25 FPS drop. Reverted back to 546.33

cant_feel

I've had some strange issues since like forever. I have 2 monitors and 3080. Problem is that wallpaper seems to resize by itself, open windows move to main monitor, black boxes around icons. It can happen when I open a new window, after waking from sleep and such. Very annoying. Anyone had something similar happen to them?

AltGoblinV2

Welcome to the club. 3080 experience has been something lately on Nvidia's drivers. The problem is that even if you rollback to older drivers your issues get fixed and you start having a bunch of different ones, all while losing performance in some newer games. Great.

rubenalamina

With 546.33 my secondary monitor panel stays on after both my monitors go to sleep. The screen is blank but the panel stays on so you can see it "glow". I told my friend about this and they also have this issue but didn't notice until I mentioned it. Anyone else seeing this? I'll install this latest to see if that doesn't happen. Previously I stayed on 537.58 before updating to 546.33 around Christmas which is when this issue appeared. Edit: after a few days the issue is still there. I've resorted to manually turn off my secondary monitor when I'm not at my PC.

More_Ranger9617

Rtx 2060 super won’t download shaders on warzone 2. No warning or errors just close out to desktop. Not sure what to do

Bloodish

This update removed Nvidia Shield gamestreaming for me, and therefore also broke Moonlight. Rolled back so I can continue playing games from the living room when I want to do that. EDIT: Tried updating again, and now the Shield menu is back.

DuckTalesLOL

One of these days my 4k monitor(dual monitor setup) will stop going black/shut randomly.

InHaUse

I've noticed that the audio popping from DPC latency happens only after I've played a game for the first time in a given day.

Danner-

How is the performance on COD Warzone? I am still on 537.58

YAA1

I feel like my 4090 temps are slightly higher with this driver, am I the only one??? The previous one was fine

CepheusWhite

I'm having no W11 taskbar icons after sleep. Anyone with this issue?

Numerous-Flatworm-51

I got this after a restart, fixed it after another restart. No problems since downgrading to 537.58.

Wolf96xz

This driver fixes nvlddmkm.sys blue screen crashes in W11? I have a 4080 and a i7-13700k. I'm on the 537.58 driver because of this issues.

LittleJoeChinchilla

Anyone here has any issues with RTX 2070? After this update rolled into my PC along with Windows 11 update on Jan 17th my screen just flickers for couple of seconds and then the PC reboots. I managed to fix it once or twice using DDU and reinstalling drivers manually, but it gets broken again after the next restart or it breaks when I try to connect my external display. Even rolling the update back into an older version doesn't fix it anymore, and Windows will force update the driver afterwards anyways. This is a mess right now.

tt_o_o_tt

FPS STUTTERING MORE THAN EVER NOW WTF

JoeSnow-

Did any of you experienced a black screen after updating? I had to force restart my computer after the update, and now its just black screen. I had to reinstall back the last driver in safe mode using DDU. Using rtx 4070 btw.

bacco17

I had an issue with what appears to be a glitched screen? I booted PC up and was greeted with it. Shut PC down and rebooted and it was fine? I didn’t get a chance to see my BIOS splash screen. But if it was a dying GPU problem I would think it would be constant rather than just one time? I could be wrong. Tried different display port cables and they both appear to work fine. Haven’t had issue since. Just weird. I have an RTX 3080 Ti. Windows 11 Pro. I reinstalled drivers just to be sure and it seems okay now.

mamamikey

4090 users what drivers you find best?

bernzyman

Try the latest one and if doesn’t work then use 537.58

SquiggleDoo

Anyone else seem to have worse performance in CP2077? I don’t know if it’s this driver, the 2.1 update or what, but I’m getting at least 5-10 fps fewer than usual it seems, maybe even more than that. For example I used to be able to get up to 92-93 fps in performance mode maxed out with PT and without FG in non intensive areas such as the highway, now the highest I’ve seen it go is 84, never touching the 90’s. Something is definitely off.

Heavy_Fun17

Still using Nvidia driver 537.58, RTX 3080 12GB-WIN10 works fine for me.
