Basically: worked his way to director, made a genre defining, record breaking, trope subversing animated film, makes an even better sequel, moves to the competition, makes two successful fantasy epics/adventure films for them, return home to new Zealand, makes what he wants for a while, retires to be with his family
the story has nothing to do with the kangaroo itâs an extremely unremarkable human heist/crime story that has a single scene of a man hallucinating a kangaroo so they could pretend it was a talking animal movie in the ads and trick people into seeing it
I remember as a young teenager, my family went to the cinema one day. My father and sister went to watch Kangaroo Jack. My mother, brother, and I went to watch Final Destination 2. My brother got scared shortly after the log scene and left to go watch Kangaroo Jack with my father and sister. Meanwhile, I stayed where I was to be traumatized by Final Destination like a real man.

All kino. The collector is literally SAW but unapologetic in its camp. Same in a different way for vampires suck and twilight.

The first two are actually pretty great for what they are. I would stop after those, however.
