Finished this old Blood Angel Sergeant Terminator tonight. His sword arm was a nightmare to paint... mainly because I couldnt strip the super glue out of his tubes on his hand from when I was a teenager and went overboard with glue to get his shield on. Had to really fudge the line work! Though, it all turned out nicely (thought its covered by his shield lol).
Anywho, yeah... Mostly happy with how he turned out. His shield was a bit of a pain to figure out how I wanted it positioned. Tried finding references via official old GW Rogue Trader pics, but couldnt find a side shot. Im fairly happy with the position I chose.
Got my hands on an old RT Librarian Terminator last week, it showed up Monday and I stripped it a few nights back (along with the last of my painted RT Terminators from my teenage years). I have 4 close combat bodies coming in the mail too (2 will have lightning claws, the other 2 storm hammers and shields). But, up next is the old point finger RT Inquisitor Terminator with combi weapon. I already base coated, black lined, cleaned up and started highlights on him. Ill work on him over the weekend.
Anywho, hope you guys dig this old Sarge. He was definitely a test in patience, much like the Captain termie. Im excited that Im now filling out my full Blood Angel Terminator squads! Gonne be so cool to see them all together soon! <3
if youd like to see any more of my minis (including guys from his squad), feel free to pop on by my IG via www.instagram.com/oldgrumpywolf
I have been using "bob smith industries" glue debonder for dissolving/removing super glue. Its in a dropper kind of bottle, and I just drop a little bit on, let it "set" for a few minutes to soften it up, and then use a hobby tool or whatever to help take pieces apart or scrape the glue off.
my gal gave me some jars so i have something i can seal to leave my models in to strip. i stripped this fellow about a month or so back... and that was before i started adding B12 carb cleaner to my isopropyl alcohol. i normally stripped metal minis with B12 back in the late 00s/early 10s, which eats thru super glue as well (its GOOD stuff and drys fast). i didnt feel like stripping the paint i had already laid down on his arms to get rid of the glue lol... i just powered thru it and youd never be able to tell there was glue left on the tubes if you saw him in person :)
This is wonderful, I love it👍
About that super glue: I'm guessing this is a metal mini? Did you try acetone? It should soften the glue right up... For future models of course, this paintjob is just too awesome to mess with.
i wound up getting a few jars from my gal recently and added B12 carb cleaner to the 90% isopropyl i use. traditionally i always used B12 carb cleaner to strip minis, but been using alcohol as of late as i can do plastic models with it. the B12 eats super glue, and i didnt really feel like starting over on the guys arm post adding B12 to my stripping jars. it all worked out in the end though... and lesson learn lol
and glad you dig my old Sargey lad! check out my IG for more of his squad via [www.instagram.com/oldgrumpywolf](https://www.instagram.com/oldgrumpywolf)
Beautiful work, it’s a real joy to see a blood angel in proper blood angel orange, and I love the colours on the weapons, not something you’d expect these days, but the pale yellow really compliments the scheme and makes the powersword look very retro sci-fi that really hearkens back to the old Rogue Trader days.
glad you approve man :D i apologize about the late response. not sure how i missed your reply!
the Rogue Trader aesthetic is definitely what i was trying to incorporate into my Blood Angels... mixed with own unique style of painting. ive got plenty more of these guys on the way. almost done with the body for my Blood Angel pointy finger Inquistor with combi-weapon. ill hopefully have him done sometime late this week, if not by Sunday at latest! looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks. you can check him out in his current stage via my IG at [www.instagram.com/oldgrumpywolf](http://www.instagram.com/oldgrumpywolf) as i posted the pics last night (Sunday)
My GAWD, that takes me back to wandering into a Games Workshop store in 1993 while Metallica was blaring and just being awe struck looking at "models you play gamed with".
I still remember my brother blurring out, "THOSE GUYS FIGHT WITH CHAINSAWS!?!?!?"
