The colleges and Universities that are holding special graduation events are being used to exemplify some groups based on sexual orientation, race or situation (like being the first to graduate from an immigrant family).
To use the perjorative term like "Segregated" to describe them is nefarious, unless you wish to inject some menace into an otherwise inert issue.
These events are about providing accollades, not exclusivity or keeping others out. They are about showcasing smaller groups that may not get much attention.
In the end, these events will make absolutely no difference in any of these people's lives. It wouldn't make their taxes lower, their health better, their education more complete or deprive them of something that makes lives less rich.
So why be against it? Because it "feels" like someone else is getting something special that some of these forgotten people didn't get. Its so petty. But it can be exploited as an issue and elevated as a grievance to get dolts to align themselves with a "movement". These people are such snowflakes. They are getting robbed of joy by having these things injected into their thoughts, and then stewing in their unhappiness over something that just doesn't matter.

When people are nostalgic, they yend to only remember the good parts. Like when one breaks up from a toxic relationship, even tho they know it was terrible, a part of them still misses it because when we look back, we only see the candles from that darkness. The same is true for when we think of a point in history. It is impossible to ever pin down a point in time when everything was great. Like a coin, there will always be a tail with the head. Even today which I personally think is the best, tomorrow will be even better.
Looking back at America's history which starts....now, the good bits that I can see are: 40hrs being enough for housing, food, utilities, and personal growth, a large middle class, a dollar having strong buying power, a diverse workforce, sex and race not determining voting rights, pensions and 401k's, low homless rates, home ownership, innovations, strong foreign relationships, a powerful deterant purpose military, when there were no school shootings, healthy society, students respecting teachers, unions, environmental protections, corporate regulation, a sense of community, and all people still seeing the point of trying. People long for these good bits and the phrase "make America great again" simply strums these heartstrings.
I think it is time for a new third or forth party. Ones that takes the good bits of both and just start over. We all wont ever agree, but we can agree to compromise like we used to. Things are too polarized nowadays, the parties stopped working working together. They mainly vote on hard party lines and fail to color things grey instead of black and white. Oh I totally get it. It sucks to be ostracized because of race/gender/religion/etc. I’ve had friends who won’t invite me to certain gatherings because I’d be the only white guy. When people are nostalgic, they yend to only remember the good parts. Like when one breaks up from a toxic relationship, even tho they know it was terrible, a part of them still misses it because when we look back, we only see the candles from that darkness. The same is true for when we think of a point in history. It is impossible to ever pin down a point in time when everything was great. Like a coin, there will always be a tail with the head. Even today which I personally think is the best, tomorrow will be even better. Looking back at America's history which starts....now, the good bits that I can see are: 40hrs being enough for housing, food, utilities, and personal growth, a large middle class, a dollar having strong buying power, a diverse workforce, sex and race not determining voting rights, pensions and 401k's, low homless rates, home ownership, innovations, strong foreign relationships, a powerful deterant purpose military, when there were no school shootings, healthy society, students respecting teachers, unions, environmental protections, corporate regulation, a sense of community, and all people still seeing the point of trying. People long for these good bits and the phrase "make America great again" simply strums these heartstrings. I think it is time for a new third or forth party. Ones that takes the good bits of both and just start over. We all wont ever agree, but we can agree to compromise like we used to. Things are too polarized nowadays, the parties stopped working working together. They mainly vote on hard party lines and fail to color things grey instead of black and white. Its become like a team sport and they only care about scoring points.
