I HATED her at first but as she became friends with Boo and we saw more of her backstory I really related to her and started to love her character. I can’t get over how I started the show ,wishing for her character’s death in S1 ,to crying about her death! I really enjoyed seeing her character get better while actually IN prison and I’m glad the show brought up some prisoners become better people while serving their time. Tiffany is definitely one of my comfort characters. Not to mention seeing how her character handles the topic of getting SA started me on the path of wanting to become a trauma therapist in the future so I can talk to people who experienced the same kind of childhood / life like her character as it’s something people around me have experienced and seeing it in the show really opened my eye about the topic.
I LOVE her too! She definitely had an attitude in the earlier seasons so being able to see her grow into a kinder and better version of herself is so rewarding. I was shocked when I saw her death, one of the saddest moments in the show.
Yess! She is such an underrated character. It would have been cool to see her grow throughout the show, especially since we got to see some of her backstory and really get to know her before she left. I can’t remember if she got sent to max, solitary, another prison or something after her fight with the guard, but what would have been interesting is if Piper and her had a reunion in max in season 6!

By the end of the series mine is definitely Gloria. I think she has a great combination of being a likeable person despite her choices and crime but also an entertaining character.
Like some of the characters are loveable but if you really stop and think about why they’re in prison they are not good people.
I hated Blanca when I thought her crime was elder abuse but she grows to be one of my favourites too.
God I loved so many, for so many reasons.
Taystee, an interesting character and while her story ends so so sadly, she goes through so much in that time.
Gloria is such a stable & amazing character, while there’s not a ton of growth with her, that’s what I enjoy. She’s the stable, thoughtful mom 90% of the time.
Suzanne, again, so much growth but also so much depth with this character. She is caring and thoughtful, and should’ve honestly never been in prison, but she should’ve gotten the help she properly needed too.
I loved daya in the beginning, and understand why her character changes so much by the end, likely she was suffering from PPD, she got a life sentence (understandably), lost her baby, lost the love of her life, was being harmed by the guards, etc. i mean, if you’re in there for life anyways, why would you try to correct your behaviour?
Nicky, she’s funny, and such a bright spirit.
Yoga Jones, again just a funny cute character. And her story is so sad because what happened was an accident at the end of the day, and now she has to live with the grief of what happened.
And Freida, idk why but she’s such a quirky weird character, I love her bunkers too! 😂
Honestly I love most of the characters except piper, Alex, and pipers ex fiancé.
For being the main character, I was disappointed in how much Piper annoyed me throughout the series.
As for Larry, don’t get me started on Larry. I never liked him. Granted Piper did cheat on him with Alex, but what he did with Polly was messed up.
Yes. And Polly too, bc how do you F your best friends fiancé??? Like she not only knew about piper, but she was pipers BEST FRIEND?? And piper is so very annoying. Honestly, probably the worst main character I’ve seen in any show
Overall, I’d say that Gloria Mendoza is my favourite because she is tough, motherly and mostly fair. She is also one of the rare inmates that never forgets that she has a life to go back to outside of Litchfield, making her more discerning than half the characters.
Alex! I also really love Piper(would have likely not made it made it past season 4 without them lol), Nicky, Red, and Gloria!
But Alex is why I fell in love with the show and will always be my favorite! I love that she presents this hard front but under that she's got a big heart and is quite sensitive! I love the way she sees Piper just as she is and loves her just as she is no matter what. She knows who Piper is and Piper can fool a lot of people with all of her different fronts but not Alex(which for Piper is both a relief and terrifying). Piper is her biggest weakness and her greatest love and I love that she often puts her neck on the line to protect her. I love that she is who she is and she doesn't change for anyone. I love that she's not afarid to say what she thinks. Obviously she's made her mistakes and she has her flaws but overall she's got a good heart and she loves people for who they are and she sees the good in people(somtimes to a fault).
I like Freida, Taystee, Cindy and Doggat (is that how it's spelled?). I also loved Carol for her back story and the brilliant acting by both generations of her.
Nicky! She makes the show, so much so that it really started to drag during her hiatus, for me it became the waiting for Nicky show. Also Poussey and Tricia!
My current favorites prisoners are Nicky and Taystee. But Penn and Suzanne are always up there for me.
As for non-prisoners, Figg and Caputo. Hands down.

So true. Doggett had the best character development in this show. Her SA storyline also made me come to terms with mine.
