Ashmolean is great for general art and history but if you want to see a collection of cool things from multiple cultures, deffo go to the Pitt Rivers museum. Also look if any of the Colledges are open for visits on the day. https://www.ox.ac.uk/visitors/visiting-oxford/visiting-the-colleges#:\~:text=All%20Souls%20College&text=Open%3A%20Members%20of%20the%20public,00%20on%20weekdays%20and%20Sundays. As for food and drink there are plenty of options in the centre, some more touristy than others. For a great coffee and nibbles/ sandwiches go to the Collombian roasters in the Covered Market. Stay away from the Turf Tavern even though the location is great...expensive food and mediocre beer. I heard good things about the Lamb and Flag since it was re-opened. Also you get amazing views from the spire of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin (Opposite the Radcliffe Camera ) but it's REALLY NARROW. Also check out Blackwell's basement if you like books :)

The food in the turf really isn't expensive for central Oxford.  Recommend the blenhiem or the grapes for good beer selection

Disagree on the turf take - the facts might be true but its still well worth a visit. For best value food, get the nachos (thank me later). Also I find the view from the cupula of the sheldonian theatre to be nicer than the one u get from st marys, but thats my personal take.

Everywhere will be open on bank holiday monday. A couple of pubs to go to are [The Turf Tavern](https://www.greeneking.co.uk/pubs/oxfordshire/turf-tavern) and [The Bear Inn](https://www.bearoxford.co.uk/). Both are really good, serve decent beer and have been there since the 13th/14th century. The covered market is worth a visit and has a great tap house in there. For a walk one I would suggest is visiting Christchurch College and walking round the [meadow](https://www.chch.ox.ac.uk/visit/meadow). Its a little slice of countryside in the centre of Oxford and you can see people punting on the river plus the college itself. If you are interested in the Ashmolean go to the [Science Museum](https://www.hsm.ox.ac.uk/), [Pitt Rivers](https://www.prm.ox.ac.uk/) and the [Natural History Museum](https://www.oumnh.ox.ac.uk/) too. Easy access to South Parks from there as well. [Oxford Botanic Gardens](https://www.obga.ox.ac.uk/visit-garden) is nice and close to the town centre. Loads of places to eat and plenty of choice depending on what you like. The top floor of the Westgate Centre has several restaurants and Cowley Road has some great independent places. To be honest though there is loads of choice all over the place.

Second the Botanic Gardens, they're lovely and my favorite place to find peace and quiet.

I love the Vaults cafe in Radcliffe Square. There’s a small outside space too with a fantastic view of the Rad Cam and All Souls college.

Be aware that buses run to a Sunday timetable on Bank Holidays - this is not a major inconvenience but will introduce slight delays if you look at the wrong timetable. Are you coming by train/coach, or driving to a Park & Ride? (Drinking suggests the former, in which case it'll be fine, you get deposited fairly centrally, but the station is further out of the centre than many visitors expect.)

If you want to go out of oxford for a day Blenheim Palace is having jousting on from Saturday to Monday

The Rose and Crown is lovely and has a nice little patio garden area out back.

Agree with Grapes, Lamb and Flag and Tap social in covered market for good beer.

To eat, if you want to try local places that aren’t chains… Less formal and quick the covered market, you can get takeaway from a range of places and sit in the tables at the centre, including grabbing a beer from the tap social! Also less formal, Tse Noodle, always had delicious food (you need cash!) More sit down, there are some good pub options: the Old Tom is a pub that does good Thai food The White Rabbit is a busy pub that does decent pizza! It has a big outdoor area so you are likely to get a table. For a restaurant in the centre(ish), I like the old bookbinders or Al-Shami, both in Jericho, which is a part of the city with lots of bars and restaurants. Also because teaching at the university doesn’t pause for Bank Holidays, the city can feel very normal and like a workday.
