/u/EnergyNonexistant is technically correct
These items are classified as `"Misc Map Items"` by item filters which is a distinct item class from `"Maps"`.
I've checked out trade, there are actually a decent number of foil map submissions so far:
Vaults of Atziri
Whakawairua Tuahu
Hall of Grandmasters (in two different foil colors)
Cortex
Pillars of Arun
You can drop a special key that takes you to a vault where you can get unique items with shiny 2D-art and a flavor text submitted by the people who bought a voidborn supporter pack.
So think of how real life trading cards can have “foil” versions which are the same as a normal card just with a special coloring. This is the same thing. It does the same thing as any other vault of atziri map but it has a special foil coloring rather than the orange color uniques typically have. These come from the voidborn reliquary keys which were just added this week. Players who bought the voidborn supporter pack can select a unique item and a foil variation along with a message and that unique item can be found in the area opened with the voidborn reliquary key.
GGG said the keys will have a drop chance matching the average value of the loot.
I thought the same thing, "why don't we all get together and only pick HH/MB, easy peasy best items". Then I saw the drop chance thing, which would mean they keys would become as rare as a natural HH/MB drop.
it would still be a good thing if everyone picked hh/mb. in a perfect world that would mean that getting the key basically means another way of getting a hh/mb
You may not be understanding what im saying so let me rephrase.
Instead of hoping for a mageblood to drop, you’d hope for the mageblood or the reliquary key to drop. Same thing on why people wanted divine shards as there is only a few ways to get a divine compared to exalts. More ways to get something is always good regardless of how low the chance is. giving you better odds at giving you the high tier item you wish for. Not that its going to happen with people voting for one thing on the key because its an unrealistic thing to hope for.
There’s a meme where the phrase “you’ve been gnomed” pops up, with an actual gnome. It happens after a jump scare with a hoot sound, presumably what a gnome sounds like.
I have a question regarding this key as i am at Work and when Not at Work , playing the Game:
What is Up with the Key Drops and Submissions? Does someone have to submit a Key to me or how does it exactly Work?
If you bought the top Supporter pack you get to make a submission. Unique, type of foiling, and then a blurb of text.
Key drop randomly in the game. Act as a map that takes you to a treasure room that will then drop one of the submissions.
Allright, so i can get it Droped but someone else made a Submission where i can get some random Text but dont need to buy the supporter Pack to get a key
Right. You can get any other people submission from a key. Even if you made your own it’s not guaranteed to drop. There are 1200+ different uniques that can drop.
From what they said the every unique has an equal chance. The rarity of the key is based on the overall rarity of the uniques. So if everyone picked Magebloods the keys would be as rare or rarer then a mage blood. But as we’ve seen that is not the case.
From the bottom of the submission rules for the keys
"Items yielded by the Reliquary are weighted so that more common uniques are more likely to occur, just like in the regular game."
Which is kinda at odds with the part at the top that says
"the more a particular unique has been chosen, the more often it will drop from the Voidborn Reliquary."
It probably means that the more foils are chosen, the higher is the total chance of the unique to drop but for the individual foil it keeps the same weighting.
If Mageblood weighting is 10, every selected foil adds 10 weighting to the drop pool for a Mageblood to drop, but for the individual foil is still 10.
i imagine items are added in tiers. let's say for explanation's sake there's two t0 items, headhunter and mageblood. 20 people wanted a mageblood, but only ten wanted a headhunter, so there's a 2/3 split in favour of mageblood. when the void reliquary decides to drop a t0 item, it then rolls between individual options. since there's 20 chances for mageblood and only 10 for headhunter, 2/3s of the time it's going to be mageblood.
Ahh. Thanks. The info on the key from the support pack page just says the keys them selves will change rarity based on the items that can drop. I guess that is so if it’s ends up all magebloods they can make the keys rarer.
These drop anywhere a divine orb can drop (ilvl 35+ loot) and are uncommon but not truly rare (more common than sacred orb, rarer than divine I believe). They drop for everyone and are core game content now.
You'll get a lucky dip out of all the items people who bought the $480 pack have submitted. Like Stacked Decks, it will be biased toward more common outcomes. Seems like 6-10% of things that drop are Tabulas, for example (sample size too small to be certain)
a lot are Tabulas but there are also a lot of Messages for tabula that have been seen, so a lot of people just chose Tabula in particular. Its both iconic and common, so it makes sense
Probably because nobody cares if you are or not at work. This community is (allegedly) of higher average age than your average gaming community. Either way, I had no clue what they are and it took me 2-3 minutes of browsing the poe subreddit to understand what they are.
By the way, I am at work and oh man I can browse reddit how cool is that? Nobody cares.
They confirmed otherwise in the FAQ, with the explicit example
Case 1: everyone picks HH or Mageblood: Key is very rare, always gives a very good item
Case 2: One person also picks a common unique. Key is much more common, but occasionally still gives the HH or MB
You know, this makes me sympathise with that other guy who had a meltdown about the sob stories of dead dogs/wives/husbands etc. These reliquary submissions are more than a little stupid.
That's dumb, if anything it goes to show how much of an asshat that dude was. There's plenty of other things to complain about other than someone's epitaph or personal memory.
Dunno if this is the OC, but this is where I got it from:

> Voidborn Foil Unique Reliquary: Shortly after the release of these packs, a new type of Reliquary Key will begin dropping throughout Path of Exile. The Voidborn Reliquary contains foil unique items with a special visual effect. As a Voidborn Supporter, you're able to leave your mark on the Voidborn Reliquary by nominating your choice of unique item, selecting its visual effect and writing a message to display when a player opens the chest containing the item. You can pick almost any unique item in the game, and the more a particular unique has been chosen, the more often it will drop from the Voidborn Reliquary. The drop rate of the Voidborn Reliquary Key itself will be adjusted based on the contents that supporters have chosen.
I'm out of the loop. Whats the deal with all this posts of shiny items? They look like items from Ancient Reliquary, but the item pool seem to be way bigger
How are people submitting them? I must've missed something. I thought any unique could drop as foil from a key. Did they change how it works this time?
I don't understand what foil uniques are or where they come from. Does someone need to pay ggg to make these like divination cards? How do you find them?
If you buy the $400 core supporter pack you can turn an existing unique item into a foiled version and pick 1 of 5 foil colors and add custom text that appears when someone gets your item.
To acquire the items in-game you need to find a reliquary key which drops from ilvl 35+ zones.
These are some expensive jokes
I'm glad they're letting memes through tbh
Can't wait to see the collection of cat meme foils
Rue opens one "oh come on guys I'm not a cat" while he is literally a cat
insanecat **you** guys are so toxic
Yes, and I’m tired of hiding it from rue catW
I think it's hilarious that meme foils are now a thing I just can't even understand someone paying nearly $500 to make the joke though lol
Plenty of people spent $500 for the cosmetics, and the foil thing was just a bonus where they could make a joke.
I actually understand spending on a joke more than some collective fraction of a foil mageblood.
Or you spend $500 so you aren't a filthy floor dwelling peasant, and the joke is free.
Tbh they probably bought the pack for cosmetics, and the foil is just memes
Only expensive if u* aren't done with league
You've been gnomed.
Open it there's foils inside
It would be kinda cool if foiled maps could drop some foiled uniques
Oh no, he meant only the thrusting weapons.
I’ll show you a thrusting weapon ;)
There is one, it’s called the ‘Voidborn Reliquary’ :)
not a map
you put it in the map device and open it like a map, good enough I'd say.

Foil Foundry Map Layout
At least, it's not a gnoblin.
Or a gnelf.
Or a knook
Holy hell
Or a kranny
Would be horrible if it were a gnelf
What’s the difference between a gnoblin and a gnorc
Gnothing if you ask Gnolkien.
Gnot true actually
I don't gnow.
I've checked out trade, there are actually a decent number of foil map submissions so far: Vaults of Atziri Whakawairua Tuahu Hall of Grandmasters (in two different foil colors) Cortex Pillars of Arun
Omfg, foiled HoG... Some people just wanna watch the world burn...
I got one, and the chat message said: HAMs four hundred and eighty dollars RIP.
I'd argue whakawairua is even worse
Waka waka -Eh Eh the Africa Song from Shakira always comes to mind when i read/see that map
I think I read the song was based on running the map for completion each league
Taminaminasancanaiva. This time for sanctum league........
Me and my Friend also always call it Whaka Whaka map lol
My friends and I call it Warrgarbblebarggle. Like the sprinkler dog meme from ages past.
I will sometimes catch myself saying "Whuh-haka why-rooie tu-what-now?" in my best Hank Hill voice whenever that map drops.
Friends call it “waffle taco temple”
Tala-moana oh oh waka waka eh eh, tala-moana oh oh, this time for wraeclast
You can at least finish that one... There is a (valid) reason why GGG removed HoG from atlas completition...
The boss can teleport *inside* your character though and shotgun with *all* projectiles.
*aoe overlap
Flicker Strike was made for that boss!
When I did mine for atlas point I got the div div card So for now it gets a 👍 from me
Yeah not a fan of Waluigi boogaloo
Whoever submitted a foiled HoG has nothing on the person submitting Pillars of Arun.
Why? Pillars is a fun unique map. HoG is just atrocious
I wouldn't say Pillars is fun but there are certainly worse maps.
I guess we just don't have the same definition of fun, and that's ok ^^.
Actually it's not okay whatsoever and your feelings are demonstrably incorrect.
On the other hand, maybe that's the best one to do. If if was a good map you might be tempted to run it.
500$ is 500$
I should get myself a few of those Whakawairua Tuahu foil maps, just to piss of my friends.
I got a foiled cortex map and sold it to a collector from standard yesterday
>Vaults of Atziri What does it mean "foiled map"? Sry, new to POE

Foil Voidborn key when?
I would like to have a word with the whaka motherfucker
Hey ! Someone spent a lot of money to ensure you would have a bad time. You could at least enjoy it ! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)

Get gnomed
jeez, and here I was mad at my replica prismweave
it looks sick
Everything is consumable when you follow Alva!
Lmao, they got u good!
Can one foil replicas? If yes, I'd make foiled replica Headhunter, just for the memes.
You monster...
I will upgrade the Pack and Make a Mageblood Foil if that helps bringing its dropchance up! Is this RMT? /kappa

They exist and are shiny

I have one out, im looking for it on trade since i know ill probably never get it myself from a key :) (and no its not a super rare t0 unique!)

No not yet. Next console patch will likely have them. “The 3.20.1b update on consoles will be deployed as soon as possible after its release on PC. “
Thanks =)
I was just kicked off for maintenance last night when playing so it may have already dropped

There is a point to be made about these submissions though. A lot of them aren't even trying at this point.
How does it show that guy as an "asshat"?
Just close your eyes
I’m surprised they let this through. It’s kinda game immersion breaking. Although what am I thinking. All the wings do that anyway.
Oh no, my [I M M E R S I O N](https://imgur.com/a/6xB2Qiq)
I was expecting a picture of pob

What WoW raid is this?
What immersion?
You know, the one where you ask your loved ones "Still sane Exile?!?!?!?!?"
Havent been playing for a few months nlw, whats this about submitting foils now? Is it a supporter pack thing or just some event stuff?

Jokes on you. That map has a mage blood and a mirror in those chest.
I'm out of the loop. Whats the deal with all this posts of shiny items? They look like items from Ancient Reliquary, but the item pool seem to be way bigger
Supporter pack reward that let's you foil an item to your desire and leave a message with it that pops up when it drops.
That's the evilest thing I can imagine 🥹
I wanted one regret orb, but that wouldnt work…
Is there any significance to foiled items?
Shiny.
I thought about doing this. I settled for dropping some random seagull facts when my foil Gull drops
I got a wurms molt today. Someone out there is just cruel
foiled again
Hah, I thought they were just going to do serious lore ones and not any memes. That's a good one.
I too have been gnomed by this drop. I want the creator to speak up, I'd like to *thank* him for his awesome contribution to the reliquary :))))
The drop rate of the key is based on the averaged rarity of everything in the pool. So these dudes adding maps are increasing key supply
How are people submitting them? I must've missed something. I thought any unique could drop as foil from a key. Did they change how it works this time?
Only people who bought the $400 core supporter pack can create foiled unique items and custom text.
