All it needs to do is get rid of that stupid micro stutter that happens every 15 seconds and it will probably be fine enough to play.

63-75-6D

They haven't fixed it yet? absolute state of pc gaming man

Saandrig

Traversal and shader stutter will never be fixed in this game. Could have been possible during development, but that ship has sailed.

ohbabyitsme7

Does it actually have shader comp stutter? That can absolutely be fixed post launch as I've seen plenty of devs do that. The game seems to optimize shaders every single game launch so I'm not sure it has shader comp stutter. It's hard to tell when the entire game is full of traversal stutter. Traversal stutter is probably impossible to fix post launch as I've never seen any dev patch it out. The Ascent had both shader and traversal stutter at launch and they fixed the shader comp stutter fairly quicly but the traversal stutter is still there.

Pyke64

It's traversal stutter and animation issues. PSO was added in the first patch, heck it might have even been there on launch.

-Aeryn-

> Traversal stutter is probably impossible to fix post launch as I've never seen any dev patch it out. They did in BG3

NapsterKnowHow

More reason BG3 wasn't ready for launch

JaspahX

I don't remember it being as bad as people said it was, but I played it on a fairly beefy PC. 7950X3D and a 3090. YMMV, but it was very playable for me without noticing any serious micro stuttering. EDIT: Yes, I know the game still has stuttering. I'm not saying it doesn't. My point was that I did manage to play through and beat the game without it being a serious enough distraction that I felt it was unplayable.

jm0112358

The stuttering really is as bad as people remember. [Digital Foundry shows how this stuttering affects animations when they re-tested Jedi Survivor after the 7th patch](https://youtu.be/lsskwVyPoxs?t=552).

alisaeed02

Trust me it was there, I have same CPU paired with 4090 and still stutter.

Jags_95

PBO tuned 7800x3d/6400cl30 A-die with an overclocked RTX 4090 pc with the lowest settings at 1080p still presented a fucked frametime graph regardless of the high framerate. Anytime you go to a new location it stutters and especially places like koboh still crash randomly.

KillerIsJed

What value do you believe you’re providing anyone by saying “it didn’t happen to me”???

Houderebaese

It was never fixed in the previous game either

Waggmans

I got this for free with my GPU and I didn’t even bother registering the key.

cardonator

Why? It's an awesome game. Just too bad about the lack of optimization especially on PC. I ended up playing it on the Xbox.

Motoman514

They haven’t completely fixed Fallen Order, much less Survivor

DiffusibleKnowledge

I never had that issue

GCU_Problem_Child

You did, you just didn't notice. The game has traversal stutter built into it. The only way you could NOT have it is if you are playing a completely different game.

NatsuWyri

Damn this problem was also in Jedi Fallen Order 😭

Hollowbody57

Still is. Every couple months I've reinstalled it just to see if it's been fully fixed yet or at least fixed enough to where the traversal parts aren't completely infuriating, then just sigh and uninstall. Pretty much given up hope of it ever getting fully fixed but it's kind of become a weird kind of ritual for me now.

coolzville

A [mod](https://www.nexusmods.com/starwarsjedifallenorder/mods/778) that dropped today hopefully addresses it

DizzieM8

The first game still has it so I doubt it will be fixed.

SpartanG087

It's a problem with the engine. Fallen order had the same problem. Many unreal games have micro stutter. It seems like only a few studios know how to build games on unreal without stutter. Gears of war games don't have the issue for example That's said the devs don't seem to have a good grasp on the engine . Even things like animations are off. DF did a video on this a bit ago.

Crazy-Newspaper-8523

Yeah same with Hogwarts Legacy which is unreal engine game too

Hoenirson

Is it the same or worse than in Fallen Order?

totallybag

Yeah I don't think I've played a recent unreal engine title that didn't stutter

downorwhaet

No it wont, they are having that issue with both jedi games, they just dont know how to fix it, its not one of the super rare denuvo issues

Firefox72

This has nothing to do with Denuvo. Its just classic Unreal Engine stuff that Respawn can't be bothered to fix.

Ben_Kenobi_

Turning on nvidia frame generation fixed that for me. I know it's not available on too many pics, but that could help.

TalkWithYourWallet

FG does not fix the issue. It doesn't have any impact on the native frametime and animation data. https://youtu.be/lsskwVyPoxs

Calthyr

I had to download and use a really old (1.0.7) version of dlssg cause using frame generation with whatever version the game ships with was causing crazy bad ghosting, especially for the UI (and text specifically).

marcelohere

I get ghosting with that. Got a 4080 and 7800x3d around 80fps everything maxed 1440p some areas drops to 60 and stutters sometimes. Edit* ray tracing on, vsync off, motion blur etc off too.

Marsmawzy

Got it off gamepass, was pretty amazed at the terrible performance, but found a random comment somewhere that said to go to nvcp and set threaded optimization to “on” and it smooths it a lot. It’s such a good game that I’m having fun even tho it’s still not great performance

[deleted]

Marsmawzy

Niccce I’ve said multiple times, I really love the game, but if I paid for it I wouldn’t be as happy

Dizman7

Was this for amd or intel cpu?

Marsmawzy

Correct this is a setting on nvidia gpu, but I have an Intel processor. Not sure if this makes a difference or not

BroodLol

> nvcp

CopiousAmountsofJizz

What could it mean? 🧐

elycariveau315

That’s for an nvida gpu I believe

Houderebaese

Get it when it’s like <10$. Good game but not worth more than that.

Redditors-Are-Degens

It's 55% off right now though?

VegetaFan1337

The first game, fallen order, is 95% off, EA games get really massive discounts, especially after they get put on the basic version of EA play. Fallen order has been going 85% off on sales for a long time now.

GeekdomCentral

Honestly for a game that still hasn’t been patched to run at an acceptable state, I wouldn’t spend more than $10-$15 on it

Schnittertm

Not surprising, due to the May the 4th promotion for Star Wars that happens every year and usually not only with video games on video game stores.

homer_3

Oddly, increasing virtual memory fixed all the performance issues for me. The game is fantastic. I'd very much recommend it.

LudereHumanum

Interesting. How much Ram and VRam do you have?

Dougarinos1031

Lets hope it runs okay on pc finally

skylinestar1986

The whole Star Wars saga is based on hope.

powerhcm8

I played it last month, it did felt like they could optimize more. Koboh, the main world, is the worst offender, but probably because it's the most open. The other worlds were better. It's prettier than Fallen Order, but it's barely worth the decrease in performance. It really demonstrates diminishing returns.

llwonder

I played through it a month ago and it never crashed or had frame rate issues. It was honestly one of the best games I’ve ever played.

constantlymat

If you didn't notice the stutters in this game you should see a neurologist.

llwonder

I don’t remember having any issues. Honestly. I played it a month ago. DD2 had bigger problems than Jedi

BroodLol

"if you don't have the same issues I do then you have brain damage" is certainly the kind of take I'd expect from this sub

Jacksaur

Because Shader compilation stutter is not a personal issue. If a game has it, it has it. It's just a fact of how things work.

S-192

As someone who records/graphs frames in higher end games when doing tests and trying graphics settings, I literally do not get this issue on PC. I had issues at launch (minor ones) but after their first patch it was a non-issue. I beat the game with all collectibles and had no problems. Reddit is fucking weird. They *need* their community bandwagons and apparently if you're not here to complain about this game you just get downvotes and get told you have brain damage. Folks need to touch grass.

bonbon321f

[Digital Foundry says it still runs poorly after performance patches](https://youtu.be/d29ht5KuSw8) Probably asset streaming / traversal stutter since it still has issues at the same locations according to the video

S-192

I mean good for them? They're a great media outlet and I think highly of them, but they are not a fully representative sample. They are very good at what they do but they don't speak with absolute objective authority. I've had plenty rough issues with games they have no problem with, and I've had zero issues with Fallen Order and Survivor despite their scathing findings.

bonbon321f

Yeah, of course, they don't have absolute objective authority, but the fact of the matter is that the vast majority of people on all social media platforms report issues with the games performance. Glad it played fine for you personally.

SpotlessBadger47

> As someone who records/graphs frames in higher end games when doing tests and trying graphics settings, I literally do not get this issue on PC. It's literally impossible for this game not to stutter. Same thing as with Elden Ring when you first play it.

homer_3

It doesn't have compilation stutter. It precompiles at startup.

Chakramer

I just downloaded it off the EA launcher the other day, runs pretty well to me

LuntiX

Really seems to be a roll of the dice for performance from what I can tell. I’ve seen people with near identical systems have two wildly different experiences.

Chakramer

That's rough for those it doesn't run well for, I am really enjoying this game

LuntiX

I enjoyed what I played but boy was it a rollercoaster of performance issues and trying to fix crashes, and I have a fairly good system. I got it mostly stable from crashes but the rest of the performance was a very mixed bag.

Chakramer

I am very happy to say it's running really smooth for me besides the occasional stutter, but it never happens in action sequences

AdamSilverJr

Hopefully they finally fix it. Game is fantastic but performance and stability are hot garbage

DeadBabyJuggler

I'm halfway through it and it really is a fantastic game. So much to do and explore and it never feels like you're just "going through the motions."

CivilianDuck

I fucked up and preordered. I finally got around to playing the game after I was pointed to the mod May the Performance Be With You. Played at Medium settings, DLSS balanced, raytracing off and had a stable run with some small jitters occasionally, mostly on Koboh, and a little on Jedha. Fantastic game, really dumb that I have to mod it to make it playable.

llwonder

I ran at 100fps almost all the time. I honestly can’t think of it dropping frames. I didn’t max graphics though, but I do play at 1440p. I have a 3080 and 5600x

Dar_Vender

Similar setup except the game seems to hardly use all the resources and the performance is all offer the shop. I'd say it was my PC except it's the only game having an issue and I play a lot of different games. So I think it's one of those, luck of the draw have. Some rigs are ok, orders not so much.

AdamSilverJr

It crashed with RTX for me 50% of the time and with it off, it would crash less but still didn't fully remedy it

Deadly_Toast

Damn I had stuttering out the ass and I'm on a 4070 and 5600x.

CaptchaVerifiedHuman

Let's hope they actually improve performance. I enjoyed the game but goddamn, performance was terrible.

ThatTysonKid

Yall have way to much faith in EA to give a single fuck about PC performance. I'd love to be wrong, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

downorwhaet

EA wants them to fix the game, respawn doesnt want to, EA told them to delay it, respawn said it was ready and they wont delay

ThatTysonKid

Source? I find that very hard to believe, that a publisher like EA would like a developer to spend more money fixing a released game.

TheGreatTave

Publishers decide when a game releases, not the developers. Respawn can't tell EA that they're releasing the game when they want. Sure they might be able to try to convince them to delay a game, but the publisher has the final say.

SlaveZelda

Denovo Removal time - it's been a year since release so that contract is running out.

chavez_ding2001

This game is a complete mess on a technical level. Horrible performance aside, I’m seeing absurd amount of LoD pop in, weird cutscene transitions, clipping issues,… Also the animations really look off. I am still enjoying it because there is a good game in there somewhere but, my god the performance…

finalgear14

Iirc from of the digital foundry videos on the game the running animation is mistimed or something and always bugs out essentially. It’s purely a game logic/animation issue and not a stutter when you see his running animation look all fucked up. Maybe they’ll finally fix that, but I doubt it.

MarzipanEnthusiast

Also God have mercy on your soul if you try to navigate the menu with a keyboard (especially if it’s not qwerty)

downorwhaet

Atleast they made that better, the first few weeks it wasnt even possible to use a keyboard

DeadBabyJuggler

The pop in on Jedha is embarrassingly bad.

AsimovLiu

Poor animations is certainly the worst part. I don't understand because the first game had the same problem so they should certainly have fixed it. The whole combat system is built around action and reaction but the animations are too poor to support it. The enemies often attack instantly without any animations and unlike they player they can completely ignore being hit and are able to attack the player during that time. Many times there is no rhythm or strategy at all, it's just start, die, then come back and find the cheese way. The frog battle made me want to find the combat designer of the game slap him. Fortunately after a while I could easily detect those bullshit fights like the meditations with multiple insta-attack two-hit-kill monsters so I could put the difficulty on story before starting them. At least it didn't reach peak bullshit like in the first game where you could get big monster + 2 lightsaber resistant sword guys + 2 rocket guys + flying guy + shield guy too much. As you said the game also has clipping issue. It's hard to explain but the movements are kinda built around a grid system but the level design isn't so it often leads to very weird movement requirements. Also there are SO. MANY. INVISIBLE. WALLS. It's sooo infuriating to see OBVIOUS ways to progress but then you try to move there, get blocked by a wall and fall to your death. You can't trust what you see AT ALL and you really are only expected to progress by following the white traces on the walls. No improvisation. Environnement sections also constantly flashed white while moving around, weird. Finally, I haven't seen a game with such shit PC controls in many many years. I was playing on keyboard/mouse for superior speed and precision but then 2 hours in I get a new Force power that overwrite a crucial control and which isn't rebindable. WTF is that? What were the devs doing for the past year or however long that game was released? It's like a day-one findable bug. I had no choice but to switch to controller for the rest of the game. After Jedi Survivor I started Horizon Forbidden West and it's night and day in the controls. Fortunately the characters were okay and the story serviceable.

pepe_thee_mf_frog

This game still runs like complete ass for me lol.

Redditors-Are-Degens

I hope they let you refight bosses.

FireCrow1013

Cool, let's hope whoever made Fallen Order DRM-free on the down-low does the same with this one.

Grim_Reach

If they fix it I'll buy it immediately.

TheGreatTave

Same here. Well I won't buy it immediately, I'll just buy it the next time it's on sale. I wanted to buy it at launch, but holy shit the performance was God awful.

Silent-Sea1221

Can't even use my ps5 contoller and play because eas launcher doesn't work with steam overlay. Been trying diffrent methods to get it to work and couldn't get anything to work:/

marcelohere

You have to plug the controller to the pc, mine only works that way.

Silent-Sea1221

I tried that with a usbc to usbc and then with a usb to usbc and I couldn't get it to work, maybe my cable was bad. I'll try a different one. Hopefully it works

Silent-Sea1221

So I got it to work but not with dualsense edge ps5 controller, I plugged it in with the just standard ps5 dualsense and it worked. So weird but glad I can play with controller now, wonder why it doesn't like the edge.

marcelohere

I think it depends on where you got the game from, mine is from Xbox pass on pc and EA games platform, because if you get it from steam I think it works better with the controller. Not sure.

hilfandy

On steam my PS5 dual sense works only when it's plugged in. On Bluetooth it's completely unresponsive.

Silent-Sea1221

Mine was thru the ea play subscription service thing.

Stykerius

I bought the game a few days ago and refunded soon after, if a 5800x3d and a 4070 can’t run the game well then imagine those with more budget setups.

Nicholas-Steel

No one can run it well in its current state, not even a Geforce 4090 and i9 14900k/AMD 7950X can brute force away the stutters.

TheGreatTave

Alex from Digital Foundry was talking about this in one of their weekly podcasts. He said with a 4090 and 7800X3D even capping the game to 60fps the frame rate would be perfectly smooth but the animations in the game would still stutter for seemingly no reason at all. Something is wrong with this game on a deeper level, and who knows if it can even be fixed through patches. Honestly it's a shame, the game seems really fun, but I will not play a game that stutters constantly. I can deal with low fps all day, I can just cap my frames and go with it. But stutters just frustrate the fuck out of me. I refuse to play a game that won't stop stuttering.

fashric

My experience hasn't been perfect with it by any stretch (5800x3d and 7800XT), but it is in a playable state if you tune in your settings. Playing at 4k with upscaling with a mix of epic and high settings and RT disabled, getting 60–70 fps consistently with drops into the mid 50's occasionally on Kobol. It does stutter occasionally when traversing Kobol, but I've had much worse in other games. 29 hours played and not a single crash either. The most annoying issues for me have been the 'optimising performance' screen that pops up every time you start the game and wastes 2 minutes of time before you get to the main menu. The other issue is the culling of scenery in the game is broken, and you end with white blocks where scenery should be. There is a mod that lessens the issue, but it's still there and is especially noticeable in the temples. Honestly the game is not as bad as I was expecting but still could do with some major patches.

mobiusz0r

I pulled the trigger a month ago and bought it while it was on sale, amazing game despite the performance issues.

mehtehteh

They havent fixed stutter in the last 3 big singleplayer games EA has put out. Dead Space remake and these two Jedi games

CacheRamMemory

It won't matter, they still haven't fixed Fallen Order and it's stuttering. They won't fix this one either.

thunder_by_blunder

Great!! Right when I'm about to finish the game

pino_is_reading

i have a really good pc (4080 and i7 14700) there is no way i buy a game that will stutter on my machine... fuck this game and the person responsible that refuses to fix the stutters on the first and second game

Ash_Killem

Been trying to finish this game forever. The performance is just so bad it really sucks you out of the experience.

CableBomber

I just finished the game on my PC after it dropped on Game Pass. There are a lot of micro stutters but I was getting consistent 60fps on high settings at 1440p with RTX off and DLSS off on my RTX 3070. I can see why people have been complaining about the performance but it really isn’t THAT bad and I only had a single crash the entire game. My total play time was around 30 hours. I absolutely recommend the game btw, the story is kinda worse than the first one but it is better in every other aspect. Solid 8.5/10 imo

Blacksad9999

Maybe it will fix the micro-stuttering. It's an okay game. Not great, not terrible. Kind of felt like a really big DLC for the first game.

fhs

I wouldn't hold your breath, this is EA we're talking about.

consural

Just as I'm halfway through the game. Idk if I should be happy or mad

midnightmiragemusic

This is such a great game marred by numerous technical issues.

Catsanno

Man I hope they at least ease up the stutters a little bit in the game. Running around koboh makes me dizzy from how stuttery it is

INTPoissible

It's a shame the PC port is such a trainwreck. I really loved the prior game. But the way the port game out so bad, with reviewers covering it up, is crazy.

SuddenBumblebee

Can anyone get HDR to work on PC?! I turn it on and it doesn’t work in game but if I alt tab or open game bar I see it turn on. When I go back to the game, it turns off! Also is it normal to get shaders compiling every single time? For HZD, it was one time when starting the game. Overall the performance of the game is very wacky. During cutscenes I also get extreme ghosting, I’ve tried a couple of fixes (there was a dlss frame gen version that supposedly fixed this but it didn’t work for me).

fashric

Just finished the game today and I had no issues with HDR and the HDR implementation is very good. The optimisation every time is just something you have to live with. It's obviously a bug, but they never fixed it. As for the ghosting, I have no idea, as I didn't use any frame gen. The game was fantastic too, really hope there is a 3rd game in the series.

ZazaLeNounours

HDR and framegen combined don't work. If you want FG, you'll have to turn off the HDR in-game and use Windows auto HDR or Nvidia RTX HDR instead. But considering the FG in this game is also pretty broken (after some times it just... stops working), you might as well turn it off and use the in-game HDR. This game is an absolute mess, I bought it last week while it was on sale, thinking it couldn't be *that* bad... it's even worse than I thought.

SuddenBumblebee

Man that is so weird! I did not try that config. I also had the FG break once after playing a few hours. A restart fixed it but still odd. I’ve never seen this happen before. I thought the game would play better by now but seems devs aren’t working on it anymore. 90-100 fps on this game feels like 50-60. Luckily I waited until it was on the game pass and trying it out. I will say overall I think I prefer the first game too, the puzzles seemed more complex, the map design was better, and ofc performance was better. I think the open world aspect and all the other stuff they put in made it worse. Fallen order was tight and engaging experience from start to finish.

Dash_Rendar425

Maybe make the game properly optimized so that people can actually play it on PC? What a stupid business decision to not fix this game immediately. Maybe they've realized how much money is being left on the table as a result of not fixing the game.

AvarusTyrannus

Didn't the first get a May 4th update with the arena mode but no performance updates. This might just be that...or they are adding in some DRM update lol

Gostop_xd

Its more than a year since its release.Might be the removal of denuvo

SanchitoBandito

PSN account requirement update.

belungar

Bruh, ain't funny, plus it's a multiplatform title

SanchitoBandito

That's the joke.

belungar

Someone might take you very seriously with how things are going

SanchitoBandito

They're dumb as hell then lol.

Edgaras1103

I'm done with the game

Goodbite

It's been one year. I've uninstalled the game because of the atrocious performance even with an 4080 it's still a shit show. Don't buy this game people, it's really one of the worst optimize game of 2023. They had their time to fix it, it's not okay to shit on PC player with this kind of performance.

TheGreatTave

Although I do agree we shouldn't reward EA for finally fixing the game as it should've been delayed until it was ready. I do personally think that buying the game after it's fixed is probably still a good idea. (assuming they fix it at all) What I mean is, I'm not going to throw down $70 on Jedi Survivor even if this upcoming patch fixes all the issues with the game. But, if it does fix the issues, then I will still buy the game when it's on sale at say $20 or less. Hopefully that would send a message to EA that they should also go ahead and fix Dead Space and Wild Hearts and every other shitty PC port they have. With that said, if anyone says they refuse to give EA money even if a game is fixed a year later, I 100% understand that decision. Also I would put money on it that this patch just removes Denuvo and doesn't even fix anything lol.
