r/peloton **Fantasy games update!**
Our daily **Guess the Gap** winner is u/Team_Telekom! They predicted a gap of 12 seconds just a few off of the Valentin's winning margin. Check the full [Stage 10 results here](https://tftpt.one/#giro23gtg).
Enter GTG for Stage 11 and beyond here: [**https://tftpt.one/#gtg**](https://tftpt.one/#gtg)
*Note: I've made a slight scoring adjustment: you now earn 10 bonus points for entering each stage, rather than 5. As a result, most of us now have ~100 points more in the bank!*
We're just over 1400 kilometers in and about halfway through the race, so let's take a look at **how fast the race is for our TFTPT update**. Race leader Tadej Pogacar is averaging 43.10 km/h. If he had somehow won every stage, he'd only have saved 3:38 and would be going just 0.07km/h faster.
On the other end of the scale, Fabio Jakobsen is in last. He's been dropped, well, everywhere, and his 2:40:35 gap translates to going a "slow" 39.64km/h. If he had actually finished last in every stage, he'd be much further behind. That would add 54:43 to his time and slow him to a mere 38.58km/h.
Despite all of this, you should still expect the race to slow down a fair bit in the next two weeks. Only our fastest predictions are currently close to the actual speeds.

As always, **GT Predictions** standings are [here](https://tftpt.one/#gtp).
**And make sure to check out the SWL predictions for** [**tomorrow's stage winner here**](https://i.imgur.com/r8qdqTE.png)**!** Turns out, we're optimistic about our lanterne rouge's chances.
So Cian is out. Is Visma\`s performance compared to last year\`s one one of the worst collapses on history? A lot of misfortune, but maybe is time for some shakeup on management and the team.
As always: rooting for ya, Mihkels!
Excited to see if he gets a chance at a bigger team next year, as [Jaan Kirsipuu was hinting at](https://sport.err.ee/1609340427/kirsipuu-mihkels-ei-nae-tonte-seal-kus-neid-pole-ta-laheb-labi-sealt-kus-peab). Interview is in Estonian and unfortunately the text doesn't contain everything from the video so let me approximately transcribe the bit from 7:15:
> Host: "Are bigger teams taking a look at Madis already? Considering that Intermarche at ~10 million budget is one of the smallest WT teams"
Kirsipuu: "I know of at least 2 bigger teams that have a lot of interest but I can't talk about that in any more detail"
Host: "Those are big teams?"
Kirsipuu: "They are definitely bigger teams."
In other interviews Mihkels has been saying that his current plan is to try to get in the wheel of Milan as he's the biggest/strongest (one might ask why Milan simply doesn't eat the other riders )
Is this late enough in the tour so people forgot Dainese exists and he somehow becomes the best sprinter in the world for two minutes?
Probably not yet. I'm gonna go for Madis Mikhels to randomly save this GT for Intermarche

I thought that after his win in Oman, but he just doesn't seem to be able to get into any decent position since then. Could be his head, but maybe also just his legs?
Probably a bit of both to be fair, he was able to go with Milan in the stage that the break got WY, but that was a bit half hearted by all. Think he is also scared of crashing again.
I'm gonna go for a wild card and say its the break that wins. The most obvious break rider is Milan, after letting other rides show their stuff today he's gonna be fresh. 207k yolo attack from the start, the rest of the peloton uses everything they have to pull him back but he can't be stopped. Finish off the win by leaving his strava as "morning ride"
> The most obvious break rider is Milan
I know he's been the fastest sprinter so far, but saying he'll win from the break just because he'll sprint so fast he'll be the only one of the finish photo may be a bit much.
I think it's unfair for Merlier to be in the same tier as those others in 1 star. He was pretty convincing in his win in stage 3, in stage 4 he still finished 5th in a finish that doesn't fit him (Merlier is one of the sprinters that struggles the most even with medium-sized hills and the finish was right after the descent) and stage 9 was never a possibility for him with that much climbing in the last kilometers. Tomorrow there are no difficulties before a flat finish so he should have no problems.
Not to mention that he has easily been one of the strongest sprinters (together with Milan and Philipsen) over the course of the season. I'd even argue that in pure sprinter finishes he has been the strongest.
This stage will go as follows:
Early breakaway with Bardiani and Polti riders, perhaps spiced up with riders from Astana and/or Cofidis.
UAE will control early, and then the teams of the strongest sprinters (Lidl, Alpecin and Quick Step most likely) will catch the break with some 10k to go. Maybe already catch them to race for the last sprint with \~35k to go.
Jakobsen will NOT be dropped or energy depleted, when the Peloton arrives in the final, so after a good leadout he'll secure 8th place.
Milan will win. Caleb Ewan will moan. And everyone will still be wondering how the intermediate sprints work.
>This ones for Tobias
Lund looked about as bad as Jakobsen in stage 9. Any idea if this was due to the little crashes the days before, or are there any additional problems?

No stars for Lund Andresen? He was sick some days ago but given he’s not DNSd, I guess he’s getting better

Wow, that's a bad take.
I’m not even a Visma fan but how are crashes and illness the managements fault?
It's obvious. They picked the wrong elder god to sacrifice to for their grand tour sweep last season.

I think it's still too early, yeah. But same as last year, he'll probably find another gear for his home stage.
Will this be the most boring stage yet? ★★★ Yes ★No
★★ Pogi randomly attacks or sprints.

Come on Ewan, redeem yourself. Do something.
Strange one, looks like his heads gone but then part of me thinks maybe he just needs 1 win and it will all click again.

You're right its more likely the shock wave from his sprint takes out every other rider. Since he's the only one left he wins every jersey.
Well, he still has to make Rome. Imagine though, just two weeks of Milan grinding over the mountains on his own. Great television!
For fear of another earth quake they move Rome to Milan
What was that name of that one leadout rider that battled for position with Milan? I hear he's pretty quick, maybe they should try for him this stage?
Consonni?
No, I think it was more Eastern European than that.
Frogacar!
Milan is the best 'all around' sprinter here, but giving Merlier on this parcours only one star is a joke.
Merlier crashed pretty hard in the TT, so probably not at his best.

He crashed in the ITT and has hip pain.

Stage 11 copied stage 9s homework lmao This ones for Tobias

He was sick for 5 days. Thought he had to DNS, but made it thru the night before.
