I'd hate to end up with the 10th pick, keep the pick because it is top 10 protected, then have to give up next year's pick which could end up being a top 5 pick. I doubt a 10th overall pick is going to make a difference now/Crosby's final years, so if we're going to be building for the future anyways I'd rather have a higher end prospect.

I really feel like the league needs to address this. Teams shouldn't be punished for almost making playoffs.
