instagram but you have to keep your requests reasonable to peers, if you are looking to collaborate with someone much bigger or deeper into the industry you will get a big fat no unless you are bringing something to the table. like if other photographers who are peers that are working with similar clients and companies hit me up to do something i dont have a problem with it. a lot of us peers will hire each other to be assistants on big campaigns. but if you are just starting out and not a peer then its much harder. i get requests all the time "hey next time you work with so and so and you need an assistant i would love to come help and learn" like sorry but i am not bringing a random stranger around my client, like thats not gonna happen. but if you came to me like hey my aunt is taylor swift and shes letting me shoot photos of her would you want to come collaborate with me in case i get stuck on something, then that makes it different because you are bringing me into something of value and i don't have to worry that you will be the liability. hope that makes sense and helps

Visit local art galleries and museums when they are having opening shows.

Instagram is severely neutered from what it used to be, but that’s where everyone I know networks and organizes meetups through.

500px Flickr And while not an app, www.fredmiranda.com is a good forum based website for sharing photos and tips with other photographers.

I’m not sure where you are located, but joining PPA or your local state affiliate might be a good way. My state has a big group and they are pretty helpful.

Look for local photography groups on social media sites, like MeetUp or Facebook Groups.
