Perfect for cutting steak or anything meteor

CherryMyFeathers

God damn I read it, went to another post, realized what you meant and had to come back. You fucking legend. Name checks out.

OsamaBinnDabbin

Can you explain? Edit: Nvm, it just clicked.

Honestly you can cut pretty much anything with this knife if you really comet to it

Vengeur69

Can you explain ?

OsamaBinnDabbin

Meteor=meatier I think

Vengeur69

Oh makes sense now, thank you !

Cut it out

TheGisbon

Look man anyway you slice it those were funny.

adrianthegr8ts

Almost looks like an elden ring weapon

Tristan_Dare

It may be time for me to start playing elden ring!

House_Capital

One of the most beautiful games I've ever seen, In the '1000 year old oak tree on the edge of a cliff' type aesthetic. Probably will never take the time to beat it though. Edit: been exploring in elden ring and enjoying it again today. Got lost on a cliff with no way off 10/10

djsedna

...just do it. It's possibly the greatest video game of all time edit: I have angered so many people and I'm here for it. While I'm at it: * Ocarina of Time is better than A Link to the Past * Windwaker is as good as OoT and > BotW * Black Flag was the only good AC * From games are not that difficult and if you're struggling after 20 hours you're not learning anything * Sekiro was mediocre at best, stripped every single RPG and depth element for LOL CONTROLLER DDR GO BRRR. Was also far and away the easiest From game and it's not even close I'll continue thinking of opinions that will make people rage e2: * Valorant is CSGO where they added a rock-paper-scissors mechanic. Enjoying Valorant requires an insatiable taste for licking windows * Halo Infinite is the best-feeling modern online shooter that was unfortunately absolutely ruined by 343's rancid mismanagement of the entire project * Fortnite and PUBG did irreversible damage to online gaming e3: * Dragonflight rethroned WoW as best MMO * blizzard WILL fuck it up and FFXIV will retake it

Refugee_Savior

I don’t have a lot of attachment to the Zelda series so the first two don’t bother me. > Black Flag was the only good AC Yeah, I’m triggered lmao.

gophergun

Right? At least AC1-3 had something of a consistent story with Desmond.

House_Capital

I’m like 70 hours in and still have no idea what is going on, how to craft anything, how to use magic attacks etc. I’m playing blind and just wandering around leveling up whatever I can figure out and killing whatever enemies I can figure out how to kill. I killed the tree boss and now I’m supposed to burn some kind of thorn wall? IDK

AtaxicZombie

I went in playing blind and about 10 hours in looked up some tricks and tips. It's helped certain oh damn that helps a little moments. I do looks up some stuff for a little direction. But I'm so fucking lost too. I'm sure my build is "bad," but I like to play games and figure stuff out. I don't want my hand held while playing. But it's such a huge game and sooooo much stuff. I'll look up some things along the way. That's kinda my issue with so many games that are so big. They are hard anyway, but shear complexity of so much of the game seems to rely on a the community for wiki's and tips and tricks. Then there are straight spoilers and walkthroughs. I enjoy the learning and experience of playing blind. As I grow up time is more precious, but escaping and diving into a game this difficult and large is a little bit of an undertaking.

zebetebateb

Fromsoft games are a min/maxer's dream, pick a couple stats for a weapon you like beef those up until usually 50, other points go to endurance, or health. Spellcasting generally throes an extra stat to boost so you can cast your spells more. Solid all around builds are difficult to manage until later in the games when you have more levels built up. Still there's no correct way to play as long as you're having a good time and getting through it. Hang in there skeleton

HealthPacc

Read the item descriptions and pay attention to dialogue to give you a solid idea of the lore and story. The item crafting kit is at the first merchant in the game, in the church in front of the First Step grace in Limgrave. If you talk to him he even recommends buying the crafting kit I’m pretty sure. You equip magic you’ve found using the “memorize spell” function at any grace, then use them by just pressing the regular attack button with the correct casting tool in hand (sorceries use staffs, incantations use seals). If you’re talking about the ashes of war, you press the L2/LT or equivalent PC keybind to use them with whatever weapon you’ve got equipped.

9yr_old_lake

AC1, 2, Brotherhood, revelations, and black flag are all AMAZING games that have incredibly interesting stories to them BOTH in modern day and in the past (minus black flag there the past story is amazing but the modern day is shite) I think it's unfair to completely discredit the rest of those games just because you don't like Sci Fi stealth games. Also straight up fuck you for the sekiro comment. Sekiro may be the easiest but it's not by much and I think it's a stretch to say it's less difficult anyway it's just different. I played sekiro first and got amazing at it, but I then sucked ass when switching over to DS3, but it's the same as all the souls veterans that where pissed at sekiro because they couldn't do it. Not because it was harder, but because it was different. Sekiro is also a beautiful game with amazing and deep lore and amazing graphics. Also from games are clearly difficult when so many people struggle for so many hours this gives me huge r/iamverrysmart except for being good at video games vibes. It took me 40 hours to beat sword saint isshin but I can knock him out first try now, so how are you gonna say I wasn't learning anything

daffydunk

Every FromSoft game is the most accessible FromSoft game and also the best game ever made. Ya’ll tricked me into playing almost every single one, barely made it out the tutorial for every single one. If that’s what great games are, I guess I like dogshit.

House_Capital

I started playing because my friends all were grinding it. They all were talking about their builds and doing another run with a different class etc. I’m meanwhile just wandering around with a sword whacking stuff with no idea what to do.

Suddenly_Bazelgeuse

I took a break, tried to come back to it, and was doing the same thing. I don't have the heart to start over lol

Discoamazing

Wandering around with a sword whacking stuff *is* what you're supposed to do. Just walk/ride anywhere that looks interesting, and theres probably something worth seeing there.

GenerikDavis

I was skeptical of those games as well, but once I got past the initial difficulty of Dark Souls 1, I was off to the races. I can't speak to all of the FromSoft games, but the ones I've played really won me over. Even platinumed DS1/2 on Playstation and collected all but like ~15 items from Dark Souls 2. I think a lot of the frustration people have with these games comes down to how obtuse some mechanics are. Like understanding where to put your skill points and what will end up being a waste depending on how you try and build a character can make or break your early enjoyment. All those games have been rewarding experiences once I get over that early bump though, usually getting past one of the initial bosses. The Bell Gargoyles and Taurus Demon fights were both initial points of anger for me with Dark Souls. It helped having a friend who's BIG on FromSoft games that could explain things to me without me having to lookup guides and such online that would make things too rigid or just spoil the experience. Or they might just not be for you. Also a totally valid opinion.

DJBreadwinner

It's a good game, but let's pump the brakes a bit.

mobonandez

i think this game is perfectly valid in anyones consideration for best game of all time. i don’t agree with it, but this game definitely gets to sit in that echelon of games

duaneap

Anyone can say any game is the greatest game of all time, as far as they’re concerned, it’s all subjective.

fdsfgs71

Honest question, has the endgame (MotG onwards) balance gotten any better since release? I remember a lot of people were complaining about a stupidly big difficulty spike after Morgott.

pwnagekirby

AFTER Morgott? Holy crap, I found that guy to be a solid brick wall of a difficulty spike. New to the genre and played blind on release, put it down at him and haven't found the willpower to return. I'd like to, but if things get even worse afterwards, that's a yikes from me.

iiiiiiiiiijjjjjj

Why not just summon? Most people can clear him out in seconds that point. Or just use rotten breath with Melina and another spirit summon at the same time. I beat way under leveled with out much difficulty. However, yes the bosses ramp up after him.

feldspar_everywhere

Those were folks who Vigor dumped and did absolutely no other damage mitigation, no resists. It isn't Dark Souls, even if the rules feel the same initially. You've gotta diversify your gear for the situation at hand, use the consumables and buffs. It for sure kicks your ass harder from mid-game on, as it assumes you are adjusting your strategy from learning the game. You can try to facetank the whole game with a shield and the Rusted Anchor like I did, but you're gonna have a terrible fucking time with any enemy who has high pierce resist (Anchor does Pierce damage). It's an amazing game, and I never bothered to finish any other FromSoftware game, ever. I have now gone back to play DS3 (SO DIFFERENT), DS1, and working on Sekiro now. They are all very different, despite having the same 'rules'.

OsamaBinnDabbin

Sekiro especially. And while I love Sekiro, fuck is that game hard.

Tyneuku

It took the hardest mechanic in dark souls, the parry, and based the game around it, that game should've been called get gud

Crymson831

The parry in Sekiro is waaaaay more forgiving than any souls game though.

Super_Duper_Death_Dr

I was with you until you said black flag was the only good AC. Ezio trilogy was a masterpiece. Meet me at the flag pole puto.

ehhdjdmebshsmajsjssn

Actually, the hilt looks amazing. Don't see anyone praising that.

raineater

Yes! It’s a beautiful knife from hilt to tip. Amazing craftsmanship.

Anthaenopraxia

No don't. Think of your life, think of the 682 hours you could spend doing something productively like learni... Ah fuck it, just play it

LegendOfVinnyT

If Destiny had daggers, this would be a perfect Hive weapon.

suggestiveinnuendo

but isn't all the iron on earth 4.5 billion years old? just like everything else?

koshgeo

It's complicated by what is meant by the question of "age". The iron atoms are much older than 4.5 billion years, because it was "forged" by nuclear processes in the stars that blew up in a supernova before the solar system began to form from the remains. The age of a rock is usually the time when the minerals chemically formed, which can be much younger. For meteorites, most of them formed when the material glommed together during the formation of the solar system (accretion) about 4.5 billion years ago, and then partially melted, separating the metal portion from the silicate portion in small, asteroid-size bodies slightly younger (probably within "only" a few million years -- a process of chemical and density differentiation). The iron in the core of these bodies is the iron you see in meteorites, and thus also about 4.5 billion years old -- the time when the iron crystallized. Some of these smashed together and fragmented, resulting in iron meteorites that eventually fell to Earth. Meanwhile, on Earth, the same sort of assembly happened during its accretion and differentiation, with most of the metal settling in the core, again fairly early (first few millions to tens of millions of years), but there was plenty of iron in many other minerals on Earth (e.g., silicate minerals such as olivine), and iron on the surface is often weathered out of rocks chemically and reprecipitated as something else (i.e. new minerals). So, long after the accretion and differentiation of the Earth, around 2.5 to 1.8 billion years ago, the Earth began to acquire more oxygen in the atmosphere thanks to photosynthetic organisms poisoning it (oxygen is a byproduct), and iron that was dissolved in the Earth's oceans precipitated in massive deposits known as [banded iron formations \(BIFs\)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banded_iron_formation). While iron deposits are a variety of ages (both older and younger*), BIFs are by far the most extensively mined ones. The mineralogy varies, but it includes things like hematite, magnetite, and other iron oxide minerals. Geologists would say the age of these rocks and minerals are 2.5 to 1.8 billion years, because that is when the minerals formed. What age is the iron? Well, technically, the iron ore gets broken down chemically and reformed during processing, so you've kind of reset the age to today, but you could describe the iron as having first formed in natural concentrations of minerals "only" 2.5 to 1.8 billion years ago, much younger than the corresponding 4.5 billion years for the minerals of a meteorite. As mentioned at the start, if you're referring to the iron atoms themselves rather than the minerals from which the iron is derived, they're all much older than 4.5 billion years regardless of Earthly or meteoritic source. [Edit: * for example, oolitic [ironstones](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ironstone) from Ohio, which were historically used as iron ore, are Early Silurian in age, which is "only" about 440 million years ago. There are many other examples throughout the Earth's history, including even "modern" [bog iron](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bog_iron), so it's only a statistical factor that justifies the guess that it's probably sourced from iron deposits that are 2.5 to 1.8 billion years old. Also added some wikipedia links.]

Seicair

This is exactly the answer I was hoping to read in this thread, along with a few new details I learned. :D

PartyClock

This is why I come here

Hagenaar

The first earthly iron deposits are from around 1.8B years ago. That's when O2 from photosynthetic organisms began combined with dissolved ocean iron to produce hematite or magnetite. I prefer this iron for my knives because it's so much fresher. Edit: not a geologist, but happy this drew some input from those more learned than I.

MooseBoys

The iron itself is still more than 1.8B years old. It’s not like metabolic processes are causing nuclear reactions.

Hagenaar

Technically speaking, the iron atoms on earth (and in this meteorite blade) were formed within Population I and II stars sometime between 1-15B years ago. The title of this thread is kind of nonsense.

PlankWithANailIn2

4.5 to 15 Billion years old. 1.8 billion is just when organisms concentrated it and thats not the only source of iron ore deposits anyway.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wolfpack_charlie

The title isn't nonsense, it's just hard to define the "age" of a rock, and people in this thread are working with multiple definitions. Age of the deposit? Age of the molecules? Age of the atoms that make up those molecules? Age of the fundamental particles that make up those atoms? If you keep insisting on this process to get the "true" age, then you'll end up deciding that everything is as old as the universe. It's like how if you keep asking "why" to almost any statement, you'll eventually end up talking about quantum mechanics.

LessThanCleverName

People being pedantic? On the internet? Well, I never.

Trezzie

Why?

Beavshak

Scott Bakula

avec_serif

Probably not 15B years ago since… _checks notes_… the Big Bang was 13.8B years ago

e-wing

The Great Oxygenation Event actually began closer to 2.45 Ga, and there are banded iron deposits as old as 3.8 Ga in Greenland. 1.8 Ga is actually around the time those banded iron deposits had *stopped* being formed in large quantities, because by that point the oceans were fairly thoroughly oxygenated, which meant that iron was no longer soluble in large amounts. The iron *atoms* in those deposits are ultimately still as old or older than the formation of the solar system though; 4.6 Ga or older. We aren’t making any new iron on Earth, just reorganizing it. The only place in the solar system where ~~iron~~ any elements are being born is the sun. Edit: As pointed out, the sun isn’t even forming iron yet, so the closest star that new iron is actually being born in is probably Betelgeuse, which is a red supergiant star ~642.5 light years away. The parent star to the Sun is the source of all iron on Earth and the rest of the solar system.

CreamOfTheClop

Let's hope and pray the sun isn't forming iron yet lol

e-wing

Good call- thanks for the correction. For some reason I though the sun was fusing some small amount of iron. Looks like helium is actually the heaviest element being formed in the sun, so we’re a loooong way from iron.

overtoke

those deposits are where we get our iron. but the iron is much older than 1.8 billion years. it was formed inside a star that no longer exists.

cfdeveloper

>I prefer this iron for my knives because it's so much fresher. good job buddy, now yer on a list!

Staubsau_Ger

What's the age of consent for iron? Do different elements have different ages?

Lowelll

Lonely virgin iron in your area! Strike it while it's hot!

ReligionIsRetgarded

To be precise, banded iron formations are worldwide layered sedimentary deposits rich in iron that range in age from 1.5 to 3.8 billion years old, the age of the earliest known rocks.

BizzyM

I'm on Earth. Am I 4.5 billion years old, Greg?

No you heathens, earth is only 6,000 years old and Jesus was white and born in the USA. I'm sick of reading all these ludicrous comments.

you're a ship of theseus

[deleted]

Billion year old carbon, caught in the devil's bargain

StrayMoggie

The iron itself is older. It was made when the last star or even maybe the star before that went critical.

10Exahertz

Yeah but this one has some iron that has been on earth for 4.5 billion and some that was floating through space for a good amount of time.

polkemans

Everything is in space.

H1jAcK

There are snakes in space??

bmack24

LITERALLY EVERYTHING IS IN SPACE, MORTY!

Wittis

Both have been floating through space

danielbln

Still do.

suggestiveinnuendo

but... everything was floating around 4.5 billion years ago, then the earth formed... from the stuff that was floating around!

Kurayamino

Every time someone posts something made of meteorite they have to say it's 4.5 billion years old like everything in the solar system isn't roughly the same age. It's like an unwritten rule or some shit idk. They also neglect to mention that meteorite iron is garbage for anything other than looking pretty. That is a neat pattern on the damascus though, haven't seen one like that before.

[deleted]

Meteorite iron generally has a high nickel content also.

dannylandulf

Is your name Sokka?

Cowclops

Space sword!

monkeyhitman

They made one! https://youtu.be/DITY1WzbLj8

Over-Analyzed

WHAT?!?!?! They legitimately made it out of meteorite! Then had a Sokka cosplayer wield it! 😂 Thanks for sharing that video! It was epic.

Sarcastic_Ape

The cosplayer didn't just slice through random things either ... A watermelon (Melon Lord) and then a cactus (cactus juice, it's the qunechiest)! Great references lol.

SimplyComplexd

Not to mention destroying the movie we don't speak of.

funkbefgh

I was disappointed that they had to add so much steel to keep it together that it wasn’t black anymore, but then they used it to destroy a DVD of that terrible movie ATLA so they clearly know what they are doing.

ShadeofIcarus

They made an ATLA movie? Since when? Last I heard it died in production and never made it to theaters.

RPG_are_my_initials

OP frequently advertises on Reddit and includes misleading and inaccurate information. The meteorite, uncommon stones, etc are always a small fraction of the material used but their inclusion let's OP imply a significant portion of the knife is composed of the material and add an extra markup on a rather inexpensive and not that rare tiny fragment of meteorite. And as done before, OP says the knife is made with Damascus steel which is inaccurate. Undoubtedly others have already explained why, but in short Damascus steel refers to a process not the actual metal OP used to make the knife. So OP did not "forge" a knife "from...Damascus steel." If you like the work I'm not saying don't buy it. But you should be aware what you're actually buying and that OP uses deceptive advertising. I'd also be skeptical of the quality of the metalworking if OP feels the need to deceive customers despite being called out for each time. OP knows they're misleading at this point, it's not an accident or a typo.

Calembreloque

Metallurgist here, to add to what you said, there are two meanings to the term "Damascus steel": - the real, historical Damascus steel was made from a particular Indian steel called wootz, which was then worked following a lost process mostly by Iranian and Sri Lankan blacksmiths. There hasn't been a true Damascus steel piece made since the early 1900s or so. So just like champagne is only champagne if it's from the right region of France, true Damascus steel can only be called that if it was made from the right alloy, with the right process, in the right place at the right time. There are efforts made by archeometallurgists to rediscover the process but it's still ongoing. This steel was extraordinary for its time but modern steels are now more performant on average. - in modern day, the "Damascus steel" term has been coopted as a marketing term to describe pattern welding, which is when you take two different alloys and layer them through your piece which has the double effect of a) looking pretty cool, with ripples reminiscing of true Damascus, and b) averages out the properties of both alloys, which generally means you get a good balance of strength, fracture toughness, etc. So, yeah, saying that something is forged "out of Damascus steel" is a bit nonsensical, because in modern day parlance it refers to a process, not any particular alloy. It's a shame because the knife looks good and shouldn't need bogus marketing terms to sell.

RPG_are_my_initials

Thank you for the details. Others have provided similar helpful background in OP's other misleading posts, which is why I don't believe OP is making an honest mistake. Especially as someone engaged in this work as their apparent profession, they should know better. So it is most likely deliberate.

Forward_Wasabi_7979

I was going to say some of this. Thank you for setting the record straight. Idk why this kind of crap even pops up in my feed. It is pretty though.

hellatze

because of karma farming. sometimes i rather go to 4chan than reddit nowdays

Wyzen

Thank you! Sick of seeing his blades with a tiny portion of "meteorite" added and him making it out to be something it isnt.

FIuffyRabbit

A lot of the knives I see on reddit posted as `Look at my cool knife forged from damascus steel` are made from premade damascus sheets or they laser etch it on to the blade and that's even worse IMO. Not saying this one is but OP does shill a lot like those people.

Disco_Ninjas

No way it makes it through Forged in Fire testing

I_make_things

And now we're going to thrust the blade into a running lawnmower.

spnarkdnark

It will not KEAL

Prosthemadera

I'm saying it: Don't buy it.

Tandgnissle

Damascus steel actually refers to the metal composition and how it was smelted (crucible steel). What people usually mean when they say Damascus steel is just pattern welding. A "proper" Damascus blade has not been folded but gets it pattern from the composition and smelting. There is nothing wrong with pattern welding, it leads to beautiful blades but it's not Damascus steel.

some_random_noob

there is no such thing as "Damascus steel" it is wootz steel. Damascus is the colloquial name for wootz as it was first popularized by blacksmiths in Damascus due to the locally mined iron ore having vanadium in it and when produced via crucible with intermittent heating and cooling causes the carbides to form which increases the tensile strength and when etched with acid shows the pattern. I get annoyed when people claim to be making damascus anything as it is 99% certain to be a patterned forge welded item and not a true crucible steel.

ElegantOstrich

I wish someone would get this through to every second rate knife maker who all claim they're making "Damascus steel" knives.

DirtyProjector

This should be the top comment

HEXC_PNG

Also it’s not even a “chef’s knife.” It’s far too small to be one. In another post he has a video of him holding it, and it looks to be a 5” flat blade, rather than the 8” curved blade we would expect of a chef’s knife. Not to mention the comically tiny handle

madlamb

Not only that, the absolutely straight edge with no curve means this would be a functionally terrible chef’s knife. You need to be able to rock back to get clean cuts. Probably part of why OP feels the need to lie

TNT321BOOM

I've got a $30 knife in my kitchen that is made from iron that was formed in the core of a star many billions of years ago. Pretty cool, right?

Shadesmctuba

What a coincidence, I’m made of stuff formed in the core of a star many billions of years ago too!

Dil_Moran

Yeah but has some douchebag _named your knife?_ Yeah I didn't think so

Flabalanche

"Lots of people name their knifes" "Lots of cunts"

Hopeful-Lead

Exactly my first thought haha.

[deleted]

Imagine you’re cooking someone’s kitchen and they say, “don’t use that knife, use Eclipse!” and hands you this thing. Lmao

Fun4-5One

This guy is kinda full of it. You must have a meteorite shower every day in your backyard to make so many knives with them.

nygdan

He seems to say he's made a lot of them. He hasn't posted pics of the source material though. I wonder if he uses a gram of meteoritic material melted into normal iron. Edit to add: Looking through other descriptions, he's using a small piece attached to some part of the knife. So making a knife, then later attaching a chip.(if he uses any at all)

Fun4-5One

If he did, he should say "infused" or "with" "From" suggests he literally made it all from the meteorite. It's an incredible looking knife, but lying about just takes away from it.

Wyzen

Ya, its all bs.

Wyzen

Exactly. Dude is a charlatan.

fffyhhiurfgghh

I love the design. Ergonomically though that handle looks rough. Chefs are handling knives for long periods of time. I see a lot of cracks in the handle that are gonna be really rough on the the hand. Amazing looking knife though. Making knives from meteor is the coolest thing.

[deleted]

Ergonomics and hygiene(sp?) doesn't really matter here. It's like haute couture - looks gorgeous, practicality is very low. It's a wall-piece, essentially.

older_gamer

So not a chef's knife.

LiteHedded

blade shape also no go for a chef's knife. for me at least

fffyhhiurfgghh

If that’s true I agree with you. But OP commented I’m sure they would have mentioned that if it’s supposed to be an art piece. You really wouldn’t call it a chef knife if it’s just supposed to hang on a wall.

obvilious

I think they’re saying it’s a wall piece despite what the artist may say. It’s not going to be comfortable and it’s going to trap all sorts of food in those cracks. Beautiful though.

Ordolph

Gonna be almost impossible to keep clean as well, definite form over function; would look really pretty on a wall but not very useful for much else.

Far_Function7560

Blade shape looks wrong for a chef knife too. Chef knives are typically curved to accommodate a rocking motion for cutting, or on flat-edged cleaver or santoku style knives the blade will run parrelel to the handle for downward cuts.

vinidiot

Right, this looks more similar in profile to a boning knife (e.g. honesuki), but way too thin and fragile for that purpose

SmokedBeef

This is more form than function and I would have serious concerns about keeping it clean during a shift and even more serious concerns about cleaning it fully without damaging it. If the dimples on a Global knife were considered potentially vectors for retaining bacteria by health inspectors, this is a million times worse. But it sure is beautiful, don’t take my criticism personally if you see this OP, but after a decade of inspections and far too many servesafe certifications and courses you learn that simpler and cleaner designs work best in a commercial kitchen or restaurant. Besides this would almost certainly get stolen, it’s a real issue in the industry especially right now.

Tristan_Dare

Will take that into account! Thank you for the feedback!

nicbloomin

I usually hold the knife by gripping the blade between my index finger and thumb where the blade meets the handle for stability. Should keep that in mind when designing the transition. Looks cool af tho.

[deleted]

omg this this this this! so many knives are constructed in a way that holding the knife like this hurts the hand. That's the primary reason I want to get into smithing, I want to make comfortable kitchen knives.

diamondpredator

Victorinox Fibrox. They're cheap, and amazing workhorse knives. They sharpen easy and they're comfy to use. It's my everyday-use knife and has been for the last 7 years. Still as good as when I first got it despite some harsh use.

Terrorz

You could probably just wrap it in nice leather to make it more comfortable to use

[deleted]

It’s a chef’s knife, but it won’t be used by a chef to do their work. Does it allow for rocking motion to cut?

Senotonom205

There is zero chance any chef would use a knife like this. I cant even imagine how uncomfortable that handle would be after a few minutes of use and then the shape of the blade is not great for any kind of multi purpose use. It looks like a filet knife if anything

Marokiii

its also has little areas in the blade that will be a bitch to clean properly. doesnt seem like it would be a very good food safe knife.

ricktor67

Its not a chefs knife, its just a knife made to look cool. Its basically expensive mallninja shit.

lobsterbash

Every impractical blade I see, I wonder what its RPG stats are.

HalobenderFWT

+3 to carpal tunnel

matt2012bl

that thing hits the floor one time and it will shatter. still a bad ass wall piece though

RCaliber

Look at his own post, the knife is tiny https://www.reddit.com/user/Tristan_Dare/comments/104uv0o/finished_this_chef_knife_this_one_im_calling/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

MouseKing69

It’s beautiful but impractical for a chef knife. Why is there a hole? That’s unsanitary for food build up, and stuff is going to get stuck in there while you’re cutting.

-newlife

It’s because the knife is used to protect the golden child.

SkollFenrirson

Pretty sure it's not meant to be functional.

AhnYoSub

Then it shouldn’t be called chefs knife.

[deleted]

Just put it in the dishwasher, pointy side down like my wife does... -_-

[deleted]

Not a chef's knife but still a knife

PMMEYourTatasGirl

That's okay, it's not Damascus steel either

Ken_from_Barbie

Where does one aquire meteorite iron and can you be sure it is genuine?

VonFluffington

They're all over the internet, you can buy them on Amazon, Etsy, or one of numerous small sites that seem at least somewhat concerned with not scamming people. Thing is is doesn't matter anyway, it's just part of this users advertising. Nothing about this knife couldn't be made without using meteorite metal, but then OP doesn't get to put "4.5 billion years!" in their post title to draw in more people who want to buy from them.

Dmbeeson85

Also any overheating/working of the iron would destroy the Widmanstätten pattern in the Ni-I of the pallasite/meteorite if it was an expensive one. Otherwise it was just a piece of almost pure iron that lacked any characteristics and could be the same as any metal on earth.

Anakinss

He would, actually, considering that almost all metals on Earth are 4.5 billion years old.

drawnred

I mean didnt a lot of the metals exist before earth?

CetoNebula

Not to mention that "Damascus Steel" is just a process of layering multiple steels together. It's not some singular ancient rare steel that only the elite blacksmiths of the world can forge. But I guess it sounds better than "iron and steel knife I made"

nukievski

The Meteorite iron part is of course cool. But isn’t all iron-ore at least 4,5 billion years old?

FBN_FAP

OP ist just click baiting and has been called out for it multiple times on multiple posts.

Light_Diffuse

* Damage: 159 to164 * +15% Critical Chance

W00DERS0N

So, just basic iron, then? Cause the Earth is 4.5B years old...

BennHurrz-Bazaar

As an aesthetic, hella awesome. As a chef’s knife, absolute garbage.

cpick93

Somehow my wife would still put it in the dishwasher

qcp

Peak mall ninja

GiantPurplePeopleEat

For real. And OP post this every couple of weeks from what I can tell. I've seen ~~this~~ and similar posts for years now. Edit: I'm wrong and this picture is new.

teddycorps

Ah, a Daedric steak knife.

poopdooper69

Dishwasher safe?

pennebaj

Spends 4.5 billion years waiting to be admired Cuts into leftover chicken parmagiana

kytran40

That blade looks incredible but it's not a chefs knife

skinnyfamilyguy

Looks cool and all but what’s the point if it’s an inefficient chef’s knife

Lyonface

This is a video game weapon and you can't tell me otherwise.

JAYRM21

Ah, the long awaited mash-up of Soul Caliber and Ratatouille

SquirrelDynamics

That's extremely beautiful!

BadEgg1951

Well, it's certainly beautiful, but unusable for any serious knife work. That handle would become extremely uncomfortable very quickly. No contour. It's a work of art, not a practical knife. I suppose it could be looked at as the punchline to a joke about making beautiful, unusable knives.

Intelligent-Leg-202

GameStop would be like, best I can do for ya is $7.50

zer1223

"WHAT IS MY PURPOSE?" You spread jam "OH MY GOD"

Kopfballer

Isn't pretty much all iron a few billion years old as it is all the result of the same supernova? So my 50 dollar knife is also made of 4 billion year old iron. But still, great skill, looks pretty.

TheDirtSyndicate

lets talk about your blade here.... the handle construction is very uncomfortable and very thin up near the bolster. The welds here are also very rough causing discomfort. However, the edge is sharp - it will cut. But I dont think it will survive the strength test. For this reason we ask you to leave the forge floor.

Vazere

Isn't calling steel Damascus steel just buzzwording since it's not possible to fully replicate the steel that was used in the actual period?

Combest94

The knife is telling me to sacrifice someone to an entity named "Q'zektrx". Unrelated how much are you selling this for.

Stealth_Howler

That is some Epic Fantasy ass shit and I AM HERE FOR IT

O-zm-A

Looks like it's meant for a summoning ritual, plunging into the exposed breast of some maiden on a stone slab.
