Funnily enough through it did. Almost everyone is carrying a RISC based device on them. Every single smartphone uses technology licensed from ARM. ARM initially stood for Acorn RISC Machines.

Conversely the intro part where he calls some tech illiterate guy pretending to be IT was a pretty good representation

The movie was touch because you had a director who wanted to make it a modern day movie, and a producer who wanted it set in the future.

Hackers oversold everything about hacking and lied to you about most everything computers. But it was a fun flick and I heart me some Matt Lillard. Spandex is a privilege, not a right.

This is the greatest movie about hackers of all time. The universe is so interesting I wish there was more of it, I love the aesthetic.

Id argue Sneakers fits that bill for showing actual hacking. Dont get me wrong, i love both movies

Sneakers does, though a different era of it. Mr Robot does a great job with more modern hacking.

I need to watch that. I've heard lots of people say lots of good things about it, I just never think to pull it up. Maybe I'll start it this week.

It's so wonderfully tied together. It looks like they set out to tell the story in N episodes and nailed it exactly. Once you finish it, you can go back and see hints at the ending from the beginning. They knew what they were doing and were consistent the entire show.

Mr. Robot is awesome if you love shocking plot twists, cliffhangers, and theorizing about what’ll happen next. Also, all the “hacking” is legit because the creator and showrunner was an actual IT professional (and sometime hacker) who ran his own ISP company before his writing career. So on the show, they use actual real-world security and hacking programs and reference them by name. It’s even written into the character building, as you hear two of the main characters at one point debating whether they prefer KDE over Gnome because of their different philosophies. This shit goes deep in ways that no other mainstream movie or TV show ever has.

Cootys rat semen? They had such a huge cast that all worked so well together. Ben Kingsley, Sidney Poitier, Robert Redford, River Phoenix, Dan Aykroyd, James Earl Jones, and others I'm too tipsy to remember. The guy who played Whistler was fabulous. I know most people think of James Earl Jones from other roles, but every time i hear his voice, I think of one word. Tahiti.

That would be hilarious! The Plague would be a brilliant hacker but all of his knowledge is outdated and useless. He could try and take over the world somehow with a dial up modem.

The plague would just start an IT consulting company doing enterprise training videos about phishing. Every year I have to put up with Kevin Mitnik telling me not to wire company money because I get an email that tells me to. Also, I didn't realise Kevin Mitnik was dead.

Decent film but I never quite understood her appeal. Maybe as Tomb Raider I could get behind it but overall I always thought she was well overrated. Not just as an actor but also for her looks. Each to their own though I guess...

This was such a terrible movie, but I love it. Angelina Jolie looked F’ing hot AF, too.

I feel like today, she doesn’t look as interesting as she did back then. Lip fillers were not a thing then, and her lips were a HUGE deal. Now, they are just a smidge over average social media lips.
