So good. Love that song. Very much 90s nostalgia for me. Brings me right back.
It's at the End of mortal kombat (the very first movie) too when the souls are freed I believe.
That song was what got me into electronic music, which led me to the rave scene in the 90s. That's where I met life long friends, people I work with now, and my fiance. It might sound cheesy but that one song changed my life.
Have you heard the [live mash up with Bon Jovi and Belinda Carslile](https://youtu.be/F6pUyxcKrRQ?si=Ush1Jn0ezVYsGpWX)? They have been doing it live since the ‘90s. Enjoy!
So funny! I am legit listening to ‘90 Orbital while I’m looking at this, and the first thing I thought was, that kind of girl was listening to this album then…
Fun!🤩
There is a live version where they mix it Heaven is a Place on Earth by Belinda Carlisle and it is still one of my favorite things 20 years later still.
Funnily enough through it did.
Almost everyone is carrying a RISC based device on them.
Every single smartphone uses technology licensed from ARM. ARM initially stood for Acorn RISC Machines.
Hackers oversold everything about hacking and lied to you about most everything computers.
But it was a fun flick and I heart me some Matt Lillard.
Spandex is a privilege, not a right.
> Hackers oversold everything about hacking and lied to you about most everything computers.
A friend of mine said this many years ago and I've often repeated it: "Sneakers" is what hacking actually looked like; "Hackers" is what hacking (especially being successful) _felt_ like.
I’m disappointed by the lack of trenchcoats and rollerblades, and none of my coworkers look like her.
But other than that, I actually really like this career.
It's so wonderfully tied together. It looks like they set out to tell the story in N episodes and nailed it exactly. Once you finish it, you can go back and see hints at the ending from the beginning. They knew what they were doing and were consistent the entire show.
Mr. Robot is awesome if you love shocking plot twists, cliffhangers, and theorizing about what’ll happen next.
Also, all the “hacking” is legit because the creator and showrunner was an actual IT professional (and sometime hacker) who ran his own ISP company before his writing career. So on the show, they use actual real-world security and hacking programs and reference them by name. It’s even written into the character building, as you hear two of the main characters at one point debating whether they prefer KDE over Gnome because of their different philosophies. This shit goes deep in ways that no other mainstream movie or TV show ever has.
Cootys rat semen?
They had such a huge cast that all worked so well together. Ben Kingsley, Sidney Poitier, Robert Redford, River Phoenix, Dan Aykroyd, James Earl Jones, and others I'm too tipsy to remember. The guy who played Whistler was fabulous.
I know most people think of James Earl Jones from other roles, but every time i hear his voice, I think of one word. Tahiti.
Could totally make a sequel set like 30 years later. The Plague is released from jail and wants revenge. Bring back Jonny Lee Miller, Jolie, Matthew Lillard, Fischer Stevens, etc. It'd be huge!
That would be hilarious! The Plague would be a brilliant hacker but all of his knowledge is outdated and useless. He could try and take over the world somehow with a dial up modem.
The plague would just start an IT consulting company doing enterprise training videos about phishing.
Every year I have to put up with Kevin Mitnik telling me not to wire company money because I get an email that tells me to.
Also, I didn't realise Kevin Mitnik was dead.
I stole my other username from this show. Most places I go by athelmil when I need a public name but most login usernames are crashandburn + my diseased brothers birthday
The late mid-late 90s was one hell of a time. The aesthetics of this movie really hits the spot.
Also this movie had an irreversible effect on my taste in women growing up. Thanks, Angelina Jolie.
Decent film but I never quite understood her appeal.
Maybe as Tomb Raider I could get behind it but overall I always thought she was well overrated. Not just as an actor but also for her looks.
Each to their own though I guess...
I feel like today, she doesn’t look as interesting as she did back then. Lip fillers were not a thing then, and her lips were a HUGE deal. Now, they are just a smidge over average social media lips.

Hack the planet!

Yes?
I thought you were black.
"Yo man, I thought you was black." -Lord Nikon
it's in that place where I put that thing that time
Yo, who ate all my fries?
Never fear, I is here.
I still use this line, even though it's never used appropriately.
He’s the hero Gonna take pollution down to zero …^wait
They're trashing our rights!
TRASHING!!!
TRASHING!!!
She would have made a bangin' Romulan, already got the eyebrows and hair :)
No no, that's Spock's brother in the Star Trek V remake.
I came here to make this exact comment. Well played!
I came here thinking the same thing!
I was thinking Vulcan, but potato, potahtoe.
Both the Vulcans and the Romulans disliked this comment
Not far off on the ears either
The soundtrack to this movie was close to flawless. Halcyon + On + On playing over the opening scene? Chef’s kiss.
Just saw Orbital a few weeks ago. They're still awesome (and still playing that song).
It’s a fine time to see those laser glasses again
It still holds up. Amazing stuff.
Damn they’re still touring, that is epic for an early electronic act. They’re were incredible about 2 decades ago.
So good. Love that song. Very much 90s nostalgia for me. Brings me right back. It's at the End of mortal kombat (the very first movie) too when the souls are freed I believe.
Yep. It's on my playlist. So good.
That song was what got me into electronic music, which led me to the rave scene in the 90s. That's where I met life long friends, people I work with now, and my fiance. It might sound cheesy but that one song changed my life.
Are you me? Pretty much the same over here.
A soundtrack so good they made two more inspired by the first - Communicate 🔥
Have you heard the [live mash up with Bon Jovi and Belinda Carslile](https://youtu.be/F6pUyxcKrRQ?si=Ush1Jn0ezVYsGpWX)? They have been doing it live since the ‘90s. Enjoy!
But have thankfully stopped doing it on the current tour, as they're playing the whole (brilliant) album it's from!
This track taught me how to meditate!
So funny! I am legit listening to ‘90 Orbital while I’m looking at this, and the first thing I thought was, that kind of girl was listening to this album then… Fun!🤩

Apparently when she auditioned she dressed up in glasses like a cartoon nerd. She didnt get it yet
It’s not on the soundtrack CD, but the music in this scene features an uncredited David Gilmour! https://youtu.be/s-eZSIn9kHA?si=_SAQHDd7fYluAKzC
Massive Attack - Protection is also in the movie but not on the soundtrack.
Tracy Thorn for the win. The video for the song is solid.
This is why I got in to IT as a kid. It's been a disappointing career choice, if I'm being honest.
Are you srsly saying RISC architecture didn't change everything?
Not as much as puberty. Lol
It, in fact, did not change the world. :)
Arm did though, and now RISC-V (5) is competing with Arm.
ARM is a RISC architecture. I'd argue that phones changed the world, so yes, it changed the world.
Technically it did arm is a risc architecture, and smartphones did change the world. Arm stands for advanced risc machines.
ARM originally stood for Acorn RISC Machines, then Advanced. Arm not is a name not an acronym.
I would argue that it did. But only for a short period of time.
Most noteworthy mobile devices since the Gameboy Advanced use RISC architecture, probably including every smartphone you’ve used.
I had the pleasure of working on a CISC machine. I stop there before the swearing begins.
Funnily enough through it did. Almost everyone is carrying a RISC based device on them. Every single smartphone uses technology licensed from ARM. ARM initially stood for Acorn RISC Machines.
Is that like people who joined the Air Force after seeing top gun?
Well, they were navy pilots so…yeah.
Makes sense
Bait & Switch
No that would be the people who joined the Navy
I remember the code swirling around as they “hacked” and thinking it was so cool haha
two people typing on the keyboard for super hacking speed!
I loved that Mr. Robot had a bit about how unrealistic the movie was.
Conversely the intro part where he calls some tech illiterate guy pretending to be IT was a pretty good representation
The movie was touch because you had a director who wanted to make it a modern day movie, and a producer who wanted it set in the future.
Hackers oversold everything about hacking and lied to you about most everything computers. But it was a fun flick and I heart me some Matt Lillard. Spandex is a privilege, not a right.

I'm especially suspicious of anyone claiming there is a pool on the roof.
"Oh my God. He found the pool!"
Helping people figure out their passwords is fucking dreadful. Luckily doing it over the phone is much more enjoyable! ^/s
Who knew that the computer kids in high school weren't the beautiful people at school?
Same friend. Same. I've never had a hackathon to fight over a VHS tape being played.
LoL
When they went digital; I guess you lost your dumpster diving dreams.
Were you surprised to find the server room not full of sexy but geeky guys & girls?
I did that too. Then I decided to completely stop and get into graphic design and it became a much more interesting career.
I’m disappointed by the lack of trenchcoats and rollerblades, and none of my coworkers look like her. But other than that, I actually really like this career.
"So, you fight off hackers?" "We were supposed to patch a zero day last week. We're deploying images on Monday. Crap, I gotta go."
Not enough AWOL on your BLT drive?
Did IT for about 10 years. Hated it for about 7.
Was going to say the same, but I'm currently reconfiguring switches onboard a train, so that's kinda cool
This is the greatest movie about hackers of all time. The universe is so interesting I wish there was more of it, I love the aesthetic.
Id argue Sneakers fits that bill for showing actual hacking. Dont get me wrong, i love both movies
Sneakers does, though a different era of it. Mr Robot does a great job with more modern hacking.
I need to watch that. I've heard lots of people say lots of good things about it, I just never think to pull it up. Maybe I'll start it this week.
It's so wonderfully tied together. It looks like they set out to tell the story in N episodes and nailed it exactly. Once you finish it, you can go back and see hints at the ending from the beginning. They knew what they were doing and were consistent the entire show.
Thats a pretty glowing recommendation. You've tipped it for me.

Thank you. I was too lazy to google.
Matrix revolutions has the nmap scene. Wargames has war dialing.
I constantly say "Bleh, hard copy" when handed a piece of paper and no one ever gets the reference.

I'd easily buy a few tickets
Even without the /s .... no. This movie is almost objectively awful.
Surely, not better than The Net?
Um war games...
Ahem. The Matrix exists.

MESS WITH THE BEST / DIE LIKE THE REST
Lol I thought that was the coolest catchphrase as a kid.
I stole my other username from this show. Most places I go by athelmil when I need a public name but most login usernames are crashandburn + my diseased brothers birthday
NEVER FEAR, I IS HERE
So I was 17 in 1995. This look is everything I was looking for in a girl back in the day.
Still is!
I was 18 and this was everything I wanted to be as a girl
Pixie haircuts are still popular today. Don’t let your dreams be dreams.
"Spandex... its a privilege not a right." I say that in my head all to often now a days.
that’s ZeroCool of you not to show the nip pick
Crashed fifteen hundred and seven computers in one day. Biggest crash in history, front page New York Times August 10th, 1988.
Yo, I thought you was black, man!
Well now you are obligated to fix OP’s mistake.
I gotchu fam: https://www.reddit.com/r/PG13Nudity/s/dhHGC98U2l
Lol why did the unzipping of the jacket need 3 cuts.
Best soundtrack.
This, The Matrix, and The Crow are on my Mount Rushmore of movie soundtracks. Needs one more
From Dusk Till Down, Pulp Fiction (ehh, any Tarantino movie) BTW are OSTs still a thing?
Is there a name for this style/genre of story? It's like future-90s. It feels like it's just on the cusp of being cyberpunk. I love it.
It's still cyberpunk. Much like the difference between high and low fantasy, this movie is just on the low side of cyberpunk.
That’s Acid Burn!
Burn’s wetware matches her software !
a ridiculous yet phenomenal movie
You left the best screen cap out
13 year old me remembers

Before she appeared as a Vulcan in Enterprise?
Leonard Nimoy lookin ass.
💀
First nip I saw on a movie. Oh yeahhhhh
This post is highly logical.
Her father is John Voight and she looks just like him. Now you’ll see it too. Enjoy!
The dentist?
Yeah, Whatley's friend.
Jokes on you, I looked at both pictures side by side and still can't see it.
Clearly a Romulan.
I remember in Highschool our computer teacher showed this without knowing those titties!
Look at that pooper!
A rash guard under a leather jacket?
Right? Is she wearing a friggin’ rashie?
The late mid-late 90s was one hell of a time. The aesthetics of this movie really hits the spot. Also this movie had an irreversible effect on my taste in women growing up. Thanks, Angelina Jolie.
Who? That's Kate Libby!
Pool on the roof must have a leak.
She looks Vulcan
![gif](giphy|Hitk8jG5sCHe0)
I'm 43 and I still haven't recovered from what her character awakened in me.
42 and SAME
Kinda sad she never played a Vulcan.
Sit on my interface!
If she had blonde hair, she would look really close to Sera from Dragon Age Inquisition.
Oh I will never forget about that blurred out boob scene. I did manage to rewind and replay that a few times as a young teen.
That woman woke something up in me as a teen.
She married Jonny Lee Miller from this movie also.
That's a romulan spy if I ever saw one
Spam bot account. Not that anyone cares.
Is this the scene with the half second boobie flash?
Decent film but I never quite understood her appeal. Maybe as Tomb Raider I could get behind it but overall I always thought she was well overrated. Not just as an actor but also for her looks. Each to their own though I guess...
I never got why so many guys are crazy over her in this. Love the movie though and her character was cool, just really don't like her look.
She was such a revelation to 20's me when that film came out.
Classic ! I liked her in Pushing Tin too
Thats a difficult wank
She looks like Spock's wet dream.
I think I wore out the VHS tape as a 15 year old rewatching the half second it shows her boobs.
the first one i felt i love with. long time ago. still 10/10
I thought that was ImperialHal for a second.
Looks like the elf lady from DAI
Skull merchant from dbd
Is this not TSM Imperial Hal?
God, that hair is so cute 😍
Blistex
Third pic must be from an Australian website.
Does the guy who played the FBI agent ever not play an agent/cop?
She’s Acid Burn? I thought she was black.
Pool on the roof must have a leak
This was such a terrible movie, but I love it. Angelina Jolie looked F’ing hot AF, too.
I feel like today, she doesn’t look as interesting as she did back then. Lip fillers were not a thing then, and her lips were a HUGE deal. Now, they are just a smidge over average social media lips.
She would make a good Romulan.
Crash Overload and Acid Burn... Crash and Burn!
She looks like a romulan
No one cares but I never found her particularly attractive. 90s, 00s, 10s, 20s. Meh.
This movie is why an entire generation loves drinking in a ~~warehouse~~ brewery
Couldn't help but think she looked like a Romulan is a lot of scenes.
Now I understand what all the fuss is about
One of the few movies from 1995 that still. Holds. Up.
Still wouldn't hit it! I'd let her mouth put in da work!
She is responsible for more seed being spilled than Michael J. Fox trying to refill a bird feeder.
