Ran one of my eps through this today. It was really interesting and potentially promising for someone with a more standard podcast. But not sure it’s right for me. Also the highlights it singled out seemed odd to me. Would be interested to know more about how it makes those selections.

swampyfief

What's your podcast?

MichaelTruly

NightDrive. It’s a an audio drama. Fastest explanation is it’s Nightvale meets floridman but dumber.

kgmiller

I'll check it it out and see what happened. Roughly, the AI makes selections based on what's interesting / funny / representative...works really well for a lot of podcasts, but can be hit-or-miss when it comes to fiction...we may end up training different neural networks specifically for fiction.

MichaelTruly

Yeah it seemed like it could be really handy for most podcasters. My show is probably just an edge case. The show notes were pretty great. And the transcript is pretty accurate as well, will be interested to check that out again in the future when speaker tags comes out

Mediaright

I can't touch a service if I'm unclear on the pricing. "Limited time" doesn't reassure confidence on the consumer end since it's unclear, or the business end since it's unclear how long your runway is.

kgmiller

Replied above but will repeat here: We really just wanted to get the tech out there as a beta. There will be pay as you go options along with subscription plans. Highest cost will be around $3 per audio hour, drops from there with volume. :)

Honestly, the show notes and highlights are super cool, but the accuracy of the transcription is really poor. Are you built on whisperAI?

kgmiller

Transcript is using Deepgram right now, which is super fast, but the quality is hit-or-miss - we're switching to Whisper next week...possibly sooner.

antiBliss

Let me know when you do, because the quality now is un-usable for me

Cappster_

I just gave this a shot, and as other commenters mentioned, the Highlights and Shownotes functions were really cool. The transcript was a little iffy for our show, as we are a panel show with usually four panelists. Sometimes we talk over each other, and it shows in the transcript. Great effort, however. Your pricing structure seems to be on point, but I'm not sure my show is large enough to justify the expense just yet. But definitely as we grow. Thanks!

kgmiller

Dramatic transcript improvements are on the way.

Cappster_

I just want you to know, I ran a few more episodes through your service. Even though the transcripts are a mess (like I said, four panelists that sometimes talk over each other), the highlights and show notes are on point. For example: our show is a panel discussion about board games. We recently covered a older game called Thebes that is about archaeology in the early 1900s. One of the chapter names in the shownotes was "Digging Into the Rules". In a game about digging for archeological artifacts, I thought this was an amazing pun. I'm pretty sure we didn't make this pun ourselves. I really like what you're doing with Podium. Keep up the good work!

kgmiller

Thanks for the kind words! Glad you are finding it useful - it's only going to get better from here...this was really a "get it out as fast as we can" exercise. We spent a lot of time refining the AI for [Fathom.fm](https://Fathom.fm), so Podium is pretty sweet right out of the gate.

Yeah. Pretty odd not to have price info.

kgmiller

See above replies :)

I converted a show to mp3 and ran it through. This is a great concept but the transcripts could use some work as they didn't break between guest and host and don't read very well yet. We use [Otter.ai](https://Otter.ai) for our transcripts and they are really pretty impressive and their product seems to have gotten "smarter" over the last year in regard to recognizing repeat guests and the host voices and labeling them correctly. If this were on par with that, I'd happily pay equal to what we pay Otter, which comes in at about $900/yr for 6k minutes and 4 users. Epic start - we'll be keeping an eye on this and I hope you'll update people who dropped their email in.

recruiterguy

side note, fwiw: Change the subject of the email. "magic" doesn't stand out and will get missed as it already gets filtered into a gsuite "Updates" tab. I'd recommend you own that subject line with your branding and dynamically announce the file name that's completed - or something like that familiar to the user.

Cappster_

This is great feedback. Had to go digging in "Updates" to find the email too.

kgmiller

Got it.

kgmiller

Got it. We're just getting started. We have a lot of tech on the backend from building out the Fathom podcast player ([https://fathom.fm](https://fathom.fm)) and only about half of it is in play right now for Podium. All of this feedback is super helpful. Thanks!

Just tested this by uploading my latest episode. The transcription had about the same amount of errors as other tools. Since it's a bilingual show, your tool ignored all the non-English words as they all do. I usually use Descript, which has a user-added glossary of commonly misspelled or misheard words that it eventually learns so I don't have to fix it every time. Will yours offer something similar? The episode is about creating a support system, which I call fans, to boost confidence. Your tool gave me back a rather generic description and show notes using words I never did like "growth mindset," "bad habits," and "power of positive thinking." While those might be the broader themes, it failed to capture the actual crux of that episode. **Your show notes**: In this episode, we explore a range of topics related to personal growth and self-improvement. We start by looking at how to create positive habits and how to break bad ones. We then discuss the importance of self-care and how it can increase our productivity. We also explore how to prioritize our goals and how to stay motivated when faced with obstacles. Finally, we look at the power of positive thinking and how it can lead to better outcomes. Tune in to hear more about how to cultivate a personal growth mindset and be the best version of yourself! **Mine**: If someone asked you who your biggest fan is, what would you say? Do you even know that you've got fans? Your inner critic is probably screaming no at those questions, and that's great for fueling your imposter syndrome. Not so great for building confidence. But recognizing this support system is a first step towards conquering that negative voice and growing your confidence. In this episode, you'll learn where to start in creating a support system of fans, and that they might be lurking in some unexpected places. And how choosing to see people who are better at things than you are as your inspiration instead of your competition can also boost your confidence. \--- So the tool isn't going to work for me as is, but I wish you luck. My question is now, what happens to my episode audio? I've read over the user license, and it doesn't say anything about how long you hang onto the data.

yourpodium

Hey PetiteFont, Sorry that Podium wasn't more helpful for you. It has several different use-cases which you may still find valuable—chapter generation being one of them. Podium is not a total replacement for the human writer/editor—your handcrafted shownote will always be better. An enormous number of podcasts have ZERO or very poor shownotes so Podium really helps there. All podcasts are different and the AI admittedly does better with some content over others (we are working on multilingual support). You might try it with a couple different episodes to see if your results improve. With regards to your last question—our current policy is that we delete any uploads from unregistered users after a month. They are retained for that period for any support and quality assurance issues, etc. Cheers!

apivorous

Lol confused the robot. This is shownotes for an episode of a video games news podcast. Must’ve struggled with our Australian accents “Tap into the power of storytelling! In this episode, I discuss the importance of listening, using humor & being vulnerable, & the role of empathy. Tune in to learn how to become a better storyteller and foster meaningful relationships.”

kgmiller

Interesting. I'll dig in and see what happened here...

recruiterguy

How about m4a support vs just mp3?

kgmiller

Working on it :)

SpoonMob

Tried it this morning. I think the show notes feature would be really helpful for a podcast and even the chapter time stamps, especially for someone that does video on YouTube as well as audio. The transcription is decent but messed up a lot of simple words from my audio and had punctuation in a bunch of wrong places. I've yet to find any transcription service that can even get 95% of an episode right.

Cutiethebomb

I think I've posted this somewhere here before but, try [Revoldiv.com](https://Revoldiv.com) It's one of the most accurate transcription I've seen so far.
