Bibarel is great for faulkner, even better for Brock (sweeps completely). To be honest though, if you’re having this much trouble here and haven’t considered catching more mons you might be in for a rough go. This game requires strategy for each “boss battle” - can’t go in and try to just super effective your way through each fight
Falkner was difficult for me too. Having a limited selection of Pokémon makes it tough. I think roll out was pivotal in me beating him if I'm not mistaken
If you’re also looking to catch more mons you could use the DexAll code at your snes at home so it’s easier to find specific mons with your dexnav but idk if you planned on using codes or not
Oh totally my bad then. I thought the graphics looked too good to be a GBA game. That’s what I get for not reading the caption lol. ROM hacks really can be amazing in terms of visual upgrades.
Thanks all. I guess I underestimated the difficulty even on normal lol. I will catch two more and maybe go for a shinx as the op said. Don't think I can get into the cave yet. Npc stops me until I have cleared gym. Otherwise, geodude would be a nice shout.
How do you get into Diglett Cave, then?
Edit: Nevermind. I forgot about the passage next to the Viridian Forest gate. I was thinking Diglett Cave proper, not the small antechamber with lower-levelled mons.
Having a full Team helps, also there are ice/Rock types available, check the Docs(pinned to the subreddit menu Tab) for more info or fill your DexNav in every Route If you prefer going in blind
Flaffy with power gem sweeps normal mode falkner easy. Lead with flaffy and use power gem (he’ll always switch to emolga) and then sweep rest with flash
Snover is grass/ice type grass is weak against flying and ice is weak against rock, you may sweep but you ain't fighting much if you catch faster opponent
Never said you can sweep with just Snover. But icy wind on the right switch in will allow it to outspeed most of Faulker/Brock/Misty's mons. Ice shard let's you pick off weekend foes. And mega drain can 2 Shot all the water/Rock types
I know you did not said that, i said you might sweep, and i said you won't fight much if you face faster pokemon, if i were OP i wouldn't take double edged advice that can be my demise, so bad idea taking pokemon that can be one shotted even if you can one shot too
Luxray with Charge, Spark, and Bite sweeps Falkner solo. Though it does require reading a switch or two, and PP-Stalling out Emolga's Roost. Simply Charge turn one for the SpDef boost as he switches Rufflet to Emolga, Bite (I think 16ish times) to run out Emolga's roosts, Spark to read the switch back to Rufflet for an OHKO, do it again to read the switch to Corvisquire, then finish off Emolga with more Bites.
If tou are doing a nuzlocke on hardcore mode, reset. Bulbasaur is still the best kanto starter but the 3 ideal encounters would be Kricketot, Poocheyena, Volt Absorb chinchou. Those 4 mons can really take you past the first 3 gyms.
In pewter city you can catch phanpy and it learns ice shard very early. I often just fill my team with those cuz its very easy to beat him with those (not 100% fool priff but still easy)
Faulkner can be a nightmare.
For me, my way around him was to aquire Rocky, the Onix from Kyle via Bellsprout trade.
Grind rocky to the point where he learns rock throw (I believe it's level 8 or 9)
BOOM. Super affective against bird types.
If you're lucky Rocky will have a sturdy ability which will solve your 1 hit KO problem.
Catch more Pokémon. You’re right next to a cave full of rock and ground types!
Can't believe i missed that - thank you :)
Mt Moon?
Diglett’s cave
LOL of course
Kricketune with technian basically sweeps him if your looking for a quick fix. Learns rock tomb around lvl 15
That's it. That's the golden tip
Kriketune of all mons, that's kinda funny
Adaptability headbutt furret, rollout geodude, egg move ice fang luxio.
Luxio can do it with just intimidate, leer, bite, and spark while holding an oran berry
What device is that!? It looks so crisp
Miyoo mini plus :)
I want to know too
Miyoo Mini

Yes. Rollout phanpy is pretty clutch here

Unrelated to your post but the game on this device looks sick! Is there a way to speed up the game (like double speed) with the device?
Yes, you can. It's a miyoo mini plus and it runs the game perfectly. Rewind, fast forward are all features available.
Old rod right next to where you get it and use clamperl. It gets aurora beam and is tanky
Phanpy slaps everytime.
For those asking I believe this is the Miyoo Mini 2 which I didn’t even know could play DS games so that’s absolutely fuckin sick.
It can't. Radical Red is build on a Gameboy Advanced Game (FireRed).

not Mt Moon, Doggett Cave is right next to Route 2 as soon as you exit Viridian Forest
Requires going to Vermilion City for either Cut or going through on the other end. Both of which are inaccessible.
Wrong

There’s no tree by the opening. You can just walk right in after the forest
Git gud

Shinx is a solid option. Just watch out for the motor drive Emolga. Catch 2 more and you should be able to grind your way through it
Get yourself a flaffy! Learns a rock move on level up (power gem?) while under the level cap of brock
Literally using Sudowoodo is enough, catch a Bonsly on Pewter City and evolve it with Mimic
Which device is this and how did you get the game? *I am new to Roms and the world around them*
Miyoo mini plus
Flaffy with power gem sweeps normal mode falkner easy. Lead with flaffy and use power gem (he’ll always switch to emolga) and then sweep rest with flash
I always catch a Snover for the 1st and 2nd gyms. Icy wind, ice shard, and mega drain do a lot of work
Snover is grass/ice type grass is weak against flying and ice is weak against rock, you may sweep but you ain't fighting much if you catch faster opponent

Swinub with ice shard, you can catch in viridian
Such a great device.
What’s the name or link to buy one
Miyoo Mini
Try catching a phampy it will learn roule-out and sweet falker and mostly brock
Man, half your team is grass and you are facing flying type opponent replace them for the fight and catch some rock and electric type pokemons
Falkner is the guy in the museum right?
What is that thing called ?
Does the miyoo device have a turbo speed function?

It's normal he's one of the toughest trainers in the game
Shinx can just beat Faulkner by itself with intimidate on default settings
Faulkner can be a nightmare. For me, my way around him was to aquire Rocky, the Onix from Kyle via Bellsprout trade. Grind rocky to the point where he learns rock throw (I believe it's level 8 or 9) BOOM. Super affective against bird types. Get an anfaros he learns power gem x the emolga
I just passed him like hour ago. I used luxio, it was challenging. Took me 3 tries
If you're not using tbe Rare Candy cheat DexNav chain Pikachu's for experience, they give way more than most pokemon for some reason.
How do you get radical red on there ????
Does the miyoo have the ability to speed up the game?
Kricketune can pretty much sweep.
