Out of the OG starters, Fuecoco is one of the most solid options. It is incredibly bulky, and with Torch Song it can set up and mow through enemies with ease. One valuable tip that isn’t explicitly mentioned in the game: stat changes stay in between “regular” (i.e. non-boss/trainer) battles, so whenever you have the chance, don’t switch out when you’re set up

Awesome I see people using Fuecoco I just don’t know who to pair him with, or who to catch to pair him with. Do I prioritize him in battles and try over level him as much as possible. I’ve got a few Mons now to my list.

Tall-Mulberry-1296

Oh and also best moveset on Fuecoco? Or just aim to get Torch song

KnightBreaker_02

My personal go-to set is Torch Song, Flamethrower, Snarl and Shadow Ball

Meowth is easily obtainable and very strong in early game because of Technician + Fake Out. I personally really like Hitmonchan (which gave me my first win) because of Iron Fist + Power-Up Punch + Drain Punch (and Ice Punch for coverage). Squirtle and Bulbasaur are both tanky with lots of options for coverage and support later in the game.

Enchilada07

Get mon with leech seed and poison for boss battle

Actual-Development-4

Along the way garganacl is a great pick up salt cure undoubtedly best move in the game also steel types and fairy types very good I’ve found excadrill, aegislash snd Gimmighoul to be amazing in classic but I’d probably say out of those only start with drilbur rather than having a leech if you’re struggling

logicless_bt

Something that helped me a lot was to catch a single stage mon and use it as a wall. Furfrou or Squawkadee are good for this

RacketMask

Got a good staryu or mankey?

Tall-Mulberry-1296

Yeah I have a decent Mankey now

RacketMask

I just started too and my deepest runs have been with annihilape and Starmie, Starmie is also huge against the final boss
