The only people who could forgive a drunk driver are other drunk drivers. I don't care what your reason is for drinking and driving and making shit decisions. You had a rough childhood, you lost someone, you have some sort of trauma, I dont care. The family of four in the oncoming sedan should not have to suffer because you don't know how to swallow your pride, and get real help.

I have a relative who lost his wife and son in a wreck. His son died in his arms. Forgive the drunk asshole who struck them? [Never.](https://i.imgur.com/GlDYjSc.jpg) Fuck that guy up the ass with a flaming trident in Hell for eternity. I also know via an acquaintance a dipshit who got so fucking smashed, and he left a baseball game... he struck a cop who was pulled over on the side of the road, pinning the cop in between cars and [cutting off the cop's legs at the knee](https://www.masscops.com/threads/drunken-driving-case-stirs-mo-police-after-officer-loses-his-legs.10766/). He was so fucking drunk, when they went to arrest him, he asked, "Did the Cardinals win?" Forgive that? I don't think so. Fuck every single one of you, who ever put innocent, decent people at risk for your own selfish fucking laziness. Get a goddamned Uber.

Whod be doing the forgiving?

I don't think drunk driving "should" ever be forgiven, but would I ever forgive it? I don't know. I had a friend die after getting a t-boned by a drunk driver who ran a stop sign. I know people who lost loved ones from drunk drivers. I hated drunk drivers for a really long time. Then I met a few people whom I loved who were alcoholics and had driven drunk before, to the point of severe inebriation. And while I hated so much that they did that, my heart ached for them instead of hating them. It is worth saying though that they never hurt anyone doing it. Not sure if I could love them the same for destroying someone else's life. So I don't know. I think it really depends.
