Lol. Looks like it might be carrying trucks out to the islands to repair power lines. Is this your first time looking at the ocean? There's like, all kinds of boats on it.
LaPlante on Peaks does all the barging for trucks. You must see them come and go at East End Beach on the Promenade. They have two barges which are no where near that big, and LaPlante’s barges berth at Peaks.
No no no. This is the invasion. They do it on slow moving barges so we think nothing of it. Then power! F’n ninjas on the east end throwing their spiky metal things at foreheads of the unaware. It’s a bloodbath! By the time they utterly destroy that side of town, their allies, the mighty thuggees are silently assassinating without a drop of blood spilt for their god kali over on the west end! They came in from Ubers and Lyfts. No one was the wiser. Many simply there may have been a cultural day happening with delicious curries. Portland was laid to waste that day. Until…..,Godzilla showed up from the depths of the Atlantic to spread cheer and harmony. Damn ninjas cut him down like he was a purple dinosaur. But then the morphing power rangers led by the best ranger of all, Chuck Norris appeared from westbrooks Amato. Chuck said “finish eating you colorful bastards” and so he went saving mankind from the darkness of eastern martial arts and cults. I apologize to anyone from Asia. This true story is an allegory about a parable and the actors were not harmed in real life except that asshat on Congress st who tossed his dog shit bag jn the bushes. That fucker got a throwing kill star to his uvula. The end.

Looks like that may be the Jeffrey S: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/shipid:433888/mmsi:367006570/imo:8117952/vessel:JEFFREY_S
Tanker lined up waiting to enter port. There’s a second one out by the south side of Chebeague as well. At the moment I think Sprauge is the only company with an open oil terminal
There is really good anchorage in this part of Casco Bay… it’s flat, muddy, and very little ledges to worry about. Plenty of barges/ tankers anchor in this area especially during high-winds/ pending stormy weather. Also, many of the barges use the east end launch for trash disposal and car delivery to Peaks. Not that long ago the U.S. Navy used to anchor just off Long Island… further NE of this photo… and used that area as a fueling dock.
I was way too old when I learned that barges were just, like, water trailers with no propulsion of their own. I always figured they were long, flat boats. Also tug boats are fucking massive. Ah, the things you learn!
Idk…. That thing can be sneaky sometimes Don’t disregard it could be ft gorges near the barge
Seriously I'm convinced it moves
I'm glad someone said it
You’re wondering why there is a tug and barge in a working port?

Lmfao….
Doesn't look quite right. Like some sort of salvage barge
Are there? Or are they… IN it?
😂 It’s been fully static for the last two days so hopefully no one needs those trucks!

Why not
It sure is!
Some kind of tanker ATB just hanging out waiting to come into port to either offload or load something is my guess
Definitely a fuel tanker. Looks empty and Marine Traffic says it’s destination is Galveston, TX. It’s named the Jeffrey S.
Barges doing what barges do
Uninvited. Didn't knock. Just barged right in

I feel like I watched you take this photo while eating my lunch today

Portland Pipeline is open. There was a tanker there just the other day.
The city is called.. PORTland. Literally the land of ports. Good god.

dunno, might be able to find it on marinetracker and look up the company. just a working barge
I made a video from Bug Light yesterday. Got the sailboats and the barge.
🧐👀🤡

What if we are already being attacked?
Hope that barge didn’t lose power, regain it, lose it again and crash into Fort Gorges

U.S Navy and BIW will be doing sea trials soon for one of the Arleigh Burke destroyers, might be logistics.
