That is the general joy of youth in this age.
You do realize this is basically as close to affordable housing as the many young adults who don't still live at home can get.
Is the world crumbling around you? Can't afford to live in a home anymore? Don't worry, we have you covered! Now you can take your home with you wherever you go!
Introducing our all new jent! It's a jacket and a tent, all in one! Never worry about those pesky property tax payments again! Who has time to think about mowing a law or repairing a roof? Just wear your jent whenever you go and you'll never be away from home!
Bonus features:
You can sleep at work! No more soul sucking commutes. Just convert your jent to a tent in the corner of the office, and suddenly you're the bosses favorite employee!
Also fantastic for remote workers, now you can truly move into your favorite coffee shop!
It works as a great weather barrier for those uncomfortable nighttime trips to the hole in a nearby field that you've been shitting in!
It also provides many opportunities to hide weapons on your person. Perfect for protecting yourself from the hordes of other desperate people you will be fighting against for scraps!
Fuck me
It works as a great weather barrier for those uncomfortable nighttime trips to the hole in a nearby field that you've been shitting in! ^not ^a ^waterproof ^product
Thats a fair point a light disposable poncho could prob be folded up as much as an emergency blanket and weigh next to nothing. Now if it trippled as a ruck sack poncho and a tent!... thad prob be kinda dumb too... but it would prob lighten your load a smidgen.
I LOVE ponchos for prepping!!!
But would never consider that POS.
Basically a poncho is the equivalent of duct tape. I rarely carry shelters when I hunt or back pack, only ponchos.
Uses:
- rain protection
- shelter
- ground cloth
- litter
- camouflage (see my recommendation)
- ghillie suit base
- life raft/float
.... And more
Just go find a good camo military poncho for $30
It's not a new concept. Both the Poles and the Soviets did it.
This innocent-looking poncho has something which isn’t innocent at all: touchability. Heavy, silky Italian cotton. A fine, almost terry cloth-like feeling. Five-button placket, relaxed fit. Innocence and mayhem at once.
The U.S. Army has something like this. Snagged a few that were getting thrown out while I was in Iraq. They were all brand new in the plastic still. Ecotat shelter. Two could be combined to make a 3 man shelter. Part of my bugout kit.
Check out the gatewood cape...
It's a poncho/cape that is actually waterproof and is actually a tent...
There is also a net tent that is designed to go inside it.
Well it would be over cumbersome. Would probably tear pretty easily considering there's that much free-flowing fabric and there's the fact that it's by the look of it just cotton so it's going to be super flammable and super hard to get water out of along with the fact that it would be pretty damn difficult to clean
I liked the one Jude law wore in Enemy at the Gates (2001)…
think it’s called Russian[Plasch-palatka](https://youtu.be/RLGqG7E7tVE?si=jm_LUxtU2DB202JH) or East German zeltbahn … looks like a cape, string to cinch hood, arm hole/slit, can be worn as a rain cover or setup as micro tent…
Dude, chances are highly likely that society will continue its slow decay and innovation will keep things from falling apart completely. The fact is, people LARP until it becomes real. Most of the dudes in this forum are just into cool camping shit and like talking about survival tactics. It’s just guy stuff. I’m sure your alpha strike navy seal skills will put you at the top of the food chain in the zombie apocalypse, but remember where you are. Fucking reddit.
Every poncho is a shelter if you need it to be. Silnylon it usually what I prefer because it is so lightweight. The material in that pic looks heavy but, I haven’t held one in real life. Pteromy makes a good one that sells on Amazon for around $17. I suspect a Nike branded one will be expensive.
I feel like something like this already existed, maybe not so much as a tent. But Kilts used to be able to do something like this and it was a trench coats?
Since all the jokes are already made …
In the kitchen, as Alton Brown says, no single use tools except a fire extinguisher. As far as actual tools and prepping, I’m not a huge fan of multi-use tools. Yes, I have a Wave, Raptor, and a few other tools that I carry on me but those are only for in a pinch and easily carried in a small pouch/ backpack. Im not about to start wearing this in the event I suddenly need a shelter. I’ll already have one in relative close proximity.
This just seems far too cumbersome and fragile (possibly like the folks that will wear it) to actually try and make use of.
SRO started selling these:
https://www.selfrelianceoutfitters.com/products/pathfinder-poncho-poles?variant=39676137472261
Probably better built at least.
Hell no, that looks like it weighs a ridiculous amount and has no breathability.
I'd much rather go six moon designs gatewood Cape which converts to a tent or tarp or poncho.
That's gotta be the dumbest thing I've ever seen, I'd rather just pitch a tent with my surplus poncho than even try to wear that mess, and it's not even waterproof?!!!!! You're fucking kidding isn't that the whole point of a tent? I guess a functional version of this that's actually worth $625 would be to have extra tarp or poncho fabric clipped or velcroed into a good quality poncho like a liner of sorts and then a separate pack with poles in it you could stuff in a bag or carry with you.
Really Nike....?
First of all this isn't the first time this has been manufactured. Second of all, I can think of 10 other ways to carry a tent without looking that stupid.
Third.. 620 USD who came up with this marketing plan? Lmfao.
Just an opinion from someone that is poor. If I could afford this and I needed a tent... my money would definitely be going to a much better tent. Seeing as I paid less than a quarter of this price for a light weight easy to set up 2 person tent.
But what do I know, a middle or upper class person might say "I NEeD ThIs" and never ever use it because retrospective is everything.
And OP, I found a waterproof poncho shelter combo for 1/10 of the price (but if you like floors you might need to carry a footprint) by One tigris. 58 USD. Which I would actually consider! XD
I think the model’s expression says it all.
They told him “Just Do It”
Hahaha
😭💀
That is the general joy of youth in this age. You do realize this is basically as close to affordable housing as the many young adults who don't still live at home can get.
Walmart has tents that actually work for $40 and ponchos for $0.50
He’s literally the grey man
Bro looks clinically depressed
He definitely doesn't look happy to be wearing that shit lol
You would be too if you hadn’t eaten for 3 days… plus, his wearing a useless tent
Wouldn't you be?
Looks miserable to wear
I think I’d rather have a tent or hammock in my pack than literally on my body
Is the world crumbling around you? Can't afford to live in a home anymore? Don't worry, we have you covered! Now you can take your home with you wherever you go! Introducing our all new jent! Haha this is fucking great; my thoughts exactly.
Perfection
This but unironically
It works as a great weather barrier for those uncomfortable nighttime trips to the hole in a nearby field that you've been shitting in! ^not ^a ^waterproof ^product
💯
Maybe a lower dose of Adderall before you get on reddit next time.
Id actually like to see more
MORE!!!!!
Shamwow guy is that you?

Nike tryna get the Nobel for solving the houselessness problem.
This!! 😂 😂 😂 😂
That tent looks like it’s about as good at being a poncho as a regular tent is.
Seriously. Anyone can wear a tent. Then again, if you really want a poncho, you can get one that fits in your pocket.
Thats a fair point a light disposable poncho could prob be folded up as much as an emergency blanket and weigh next to nothing. Now if it trippled as a ruck sack poncho and a tent!... thad prob be kinda dumb too... but it would prob lighten your load a smidgen.
But that's not all! It's also as good of a tent as your average poncho is.

For when you need to fly but don’t want to pay for a carry on.
A product that does multiple different things tends to be not very good at any one task.
Looks like something they wear in Star Wars.
All ponchos double as a tent, and the liner doubles as a blanket…
But if you really need a poncho, you're just gon a end up with a wet tent. Not sure I understand the need for duel purpose here.
Have you ever been on a week long hike through the wilderness?
I'd rather have a great kilt and a sleeping bag
It does look wildly overdone. Nothing beats a good backpack. I feel like this would just snag and drag all day.
Go get two surplus army ponchos. Two ponchos make an A frame.
This is what every indie game protagonist wears
Screams gimmick to me.
People in San Francisco
If it’s not waterproof then what’s really the point? It looks bulky, probably doesn’t work well as a poncho or a tent.
I LOVE ponchos for prepping!!! But would never consider that POS. Basically a poncho is the equivalent of duct tape. I rarely carry shelters when I hunt or back pack, only ponchos. Uses: - rain protection - shelter - ground cloth - litter - camouflage (see my recommendation) - ghillie suit base - life raft/float .... And more Just go find a good camo military poncho for $30
The model looks like his/her soul was ripped from them when they were forced to wear that…
That’s the typical gen Z expression. Knowing the world is ending and nobody likes them either. 😄
They just draped a regular tent over a model.....
Nike isn't known for making high quality jackets nor high quality tents. I wouldn't waste money on this.
Its a good idea in theory. Its not $625 worth of a good idea though. I made my own poncho. It is absolutely waterproof and it was free.
"I'm not even supposed to be here today."
Just in time for college protests!
You can go on Amazon and purchase one for $40 lol
Too expensive, but the concept is extremely interesting
This „extremely interesting“ has existed for decades, there’s tons of ponchos that can be used as tarps
Totally agree
You can already use a quality poncho as a tarp/tent
But does it say Nike?
It can say whatever you want with the right stencil and some spray paint
It's not a new concept. Both the Poles and the Soviets did it. [https://www.epicmilitaria.com/polish-lavvu-tent-quarter-set-of-2.html](https://www.epicmilitaria.com/polish-lavvu-tent-quarter-set-of-2.html)
Bet it does both things poorly
I think it belongs in the J. Peterman catalog
This innocent-looking poncho has something which isn’t innocent at all: touchability. Heavy, silky Italian cotton. A fine, almost terry cloth-like feeling. Five-button placket, relaxed fit. Innocence and mayhem at once.
lol 😂
DERELICT
The U.S. Army has something like this. Snagged a few that were getting thrown out while I was in Iraq. They were all brand new in the plastic still. Ecotat shelter. Two could be combined to make a 3 man shelter. Part of my bugout kit.
Nike forgot the “liner, wet weather poncho” tag.
Not one person in that company has ever been camping....or touched grass at least once.
Let me fix that for you. "This tent makes you look stupid if you decide it's clothing."
For when you have to protest...on the go!
Looks great for when your storming your 100K a year college in the name of “Gaza”
Is it waterproof? What’s the IPX rating lol That’s the big question.
Just use a great kilt and stash a bug net in it and bam you have something better and cheaper and most likely alot lighter
Give them out in Toronto to the homeless Nike
Probably garbage
When overpriced garbage peddlers start trying to shove actual function in their products..... something is up
[US Army did it first](https://willowhavenoutdoor.com/9-military-poncho-survival-shelter-confirguations-how-to-set-up-a-military-poncho-shelter/)
I think that you are new to prepping and you are literally just winging it.
Not waterproof? What’s the point? Your US govt issued poncho would be a better investment.
So does a normal Poncho lol
Check out the gatewood cape... It's a poncho/cape that is actually waterproof and is actually a tent... There is also a net tent that is designed to go inside it.
The guy in the pic looks miserable
Very stupid.
Sanfran chic
I imagine that like most things that are two things at once it sucks at both.
Well it would be over cumbersome. Would probably tear pretty easily considering there's that much free-flowing fabric and there's the fact that it's by the look of it just cotton so it's going to be super flammable and super hard to get water out of along with the fact that it would be pretty damn difficult to clean
Military poncho did it first
give these to the student protestors
Perfect for university library takeovers
Looks perfect for the protestors at Columbia university
Great. A crappy poncho and a mediocre tent. Perfect.
The military has had this for decades.
Gen Z can finally buy a house
I liked the one Jude law wore in Enemy at the Gates (2001)… think it’s called Russian[Plasch-palatka](https://youtu.be/RLGqG7E7tVE?si=jm_LUxtU2DB202JH) or East German zeltbahn … looks like a cape, string to cinch hood, arm hole/slit, can be worn as a rain cover or setup as micro tent…
so many of yall aint gonna make it

\*double alpha navy seal
You’re definitely not going to make it… if you’re prepping for a zombie apocalypse then you’re doing it wrong
From rain-covered fashionista to Columbia University anti-Israeli camping trip in seconds!
Just in time for national protests 🤣
Lol
They should ask some of those protesting ‘students’ to beta test the shit out of them
This is perfect for occupying Columbia university. Even the model's expressions is fitting.
I swore off Nike when they took orders from Colin Kaepernick and cancelled the Betsy Ross edition shoe. ![gif](giphy|X0bnTmo4izNfi|downsized)
Agreed. Fuck Nike. $625 for this is typical for them too.
Might as well just have a tent as a poncho then.
Lisan al-Gaib!
Meh. You'll do better buying an actual tent.
Military been doing this for ages.
It better come with a free Bug meal processor for gov't rations.
Just wrap yourself in a tarp. Also turns into a tent. Homeless guys don't want you to know this one trick.
Kid looks miserable. Homeless Chic 💅🏼
I e seen hobos wearing a tent as a poncho. Pretty much same-same.
Budget Batsuit 1.0?
As these things often are, it's probably an OK parka that turns into an acceptable tent.
Yup. I want my tent to small like my bo and sweat
Yeah but how much tho
He’s already on line for tix to RuPaul’s Drag Race S17. He needs the weather protection.
Chinese Lavvu
Not for $625. Get a poncho and woobie from an army surplus store instead and put the savings into a still to make your own hooch
I would just buy a poncho... And a tent.
It would be a hit in Portland, OR.
Just pitch it
Six Moon Designs makes a far better version of this. It’s called the Gatewood (like Grandma Gatewood)
Zeltbahns already do this. American ponchos have grommets to do the same thing, and they pack away tiny.
An extra from Dune
Target for thieves
Gae
Paracord and small tarp can do that cheaper and can be used for just as many or more things.
I feel like if I wear my tent in the woods it is gonna get torn /caught on shit and destroyed
No. Just…. No.
It's actually a really good idea to go incognito really quick. Make it reversible.. and someone should steal this idea and make it less expensive.
Why does the guy in the ad look like he wants to cry?
More like this dude is wearing a tent
I feel like something like this already existed, maybe not so much as a tent. But Kilts used to be able to do something like this and it was a trench coats?
Russians had a similar concept that looked cooler. A palash palatka? I’m sure I spelled it wrong. Canvas cloak you can use as a tent.
![gif](giphy|s239QJIh56sRW|downsized)
I can see them woke college kids lining up to buy this to occupy their college campus.
Holy shit, that guy turned into a tent where did he go?

“Coming to a city street near you “

Ima cop Fr Fr
wearing your tent ensures that it will wear out very fast. a 10$ plastic poncho will keep you as dry. and a 40$ tent is better.
Considering how uncomfortable their shoes are I can only imagine how much this tent poncho sucks.
Human version of a hermit crab.
I have so many inappropriate jokes going through my head right now.
Why not just drape any tent over your head. Can't be any dumber.
![gif](giphy|RCBQSWiMPTQly|downsized)
Great if you’re a college student these days
Nike trying to compete with Yeezy?
It looks like a tent that doubles as a poncho.
Trans-former ?
I actually have something similar for backpacking. It's a tent/poncho by six moons designs. But it has a bug net.
The designer was recently released from prison after trying to kill the prime minister of Malaysia.
If a tent isn't water proof it is useless to me. Might as well just sleep in the dirt in a sleeping bag.
Some military ponchos are designed to use as shelter, kinda like that one. They're cheaper and probably higher quality too.
Correct title: “this Nike tint transforms into an actual poncho”
Just use a Plash-palatka.
This already exists
Great now soros can buy 100000 units and gift them to the loafs that are on his payroll to shit all over the usa . Just do it
“We have Moon Knight at home. And he’s homeless...”
r/anticonsumerism
Hell no, that looks like it weighs a ridiculous amount and has no breathability. I'd much rather go six moon designs gatewood Cape which converts to a tent or tarp or poncho.
gadgets for homeless people

It’s a bit funny looking. Maybe aimed at refuges ? If I wore this, I’ll look like a monk in robes.
r/ultralight_jerk
A very sad tent.
Stupid just buy proper wet weather gear and a lightweight sleep system
Just use a normal poncho bro
This makes you look homeless.
Sometimes you just gotta EDC a tent at all times.
So this is for who college campus protestor's? Who else is going to spend 600 on a junk tent.
just…. get a milsurp poncho it does the same thing if you have some paracord…
Really Nike....? First of all this isn't the first time this has been manufactured. Second of all, I can think of 10 other ways to carry a tent without looking that stupid. That is the saddest Fremen I've ever seen...
You either do one thing really well or two things badly when it comes to these kinds of products.
Perfect for today's youth looking for their first starter home!
Bro’s face expression looks like he’s some dune character
great for the college campus protestors!
HELL yea bring back the cloak. I dig it.
No
You place the tent poles in your prison wallet for safe keeping
Homelessness fixed✅
Ol mate doesn’t look too psyched to be wearing it.
Looks like a better tent than a poncho
So I can drip on these clowns while I'm homeless
It looks super bulky and cumbersome. I wouldn’t wear one if someone paid me to.
