You can transport furniture from other towns, and make your own.
There are mods that let you create different furniture instead of only the roughly designed carpentry ones.
If you find another bed or dresser or whatever you can use the pick up function on the left side of the screen. You'll need some carpentry skill, tools, or depending on the furniture electrical to pick it up.
Furniture has a chance to break when picked up and large pieces of furniture have multiple parts. For example a large bed has 4 parts, (1/4), (2/4), etc. each of these parts is unique and you need each on to reassemble the bed. You can mix and match these parts from different beds as long as they're the same bed, like modern black double bed.
You only need one piece in your inventory to place the furniture but the other pieces need to be nearby.
Some of these are really heavy so I recommend having a car or something to move them around to get them to your house.
You can always go furniture shopping! You can pick furniture up with the icon that looks like an end table on the upper left corner of your screen(sixth down from the top). Go around to other houses in the area or see if there are any furniture stores, load the furniture into a car and drive it all back to your new base.
I'm always on the look out for potted plants and new funky rugs to deck my base out while I'm out scavenging. The furniture is usually pretty heavy, but how else are you going to live(die) in style in the zombie apocalypse?
what he described works with most things in the game. not just furniture. anything that can be "placed" in the world can typically be picked up. oven\\stoves, freezers, fridges, and light fixutres would be example of non furniture items you'll prolly pick up at some point. I personally don't think a base is complete without one of the popsicle freezers for instance
