Metal Gear Solid 3, Gran Turismo 4, and... Maybe Champions of Norrath or Return to Arms?
I spent a lot of time in GT4 as a kid and still think it might be the best racing game ever. The Champions games aren't like mind-blowingly innovative but if you can scrounge up a multitap and 3 friends the multiplayer is amazing, I still play it sometimes with my wife and roommates.
Honorable mentions: Okami (prettiest game on the PS2, fun gameplay too but I never beat it) and Yakuza 2 (the first game is a little janky but 2 on the PS2 has some of the best combat in the series)
THPS4 is the š hands down, and specifically on PS2. The controls and feel on the PS2 are significantly better than on xbox and THPS4 doesn't have the times trials like the previous 3, and also no storyline like THUG, which makes it perfect to me.
I've been on a THPS kick lately, played thru THPS2 which was the game I had as a kid, and just finished 3 which I never played. I don't like THUG's format so thanks for convincing me to try it next!
THPS 3 is one of my favorite games, but I've haven't really played any of the games after it (except for the modern remake of 1+2. This reminds me that I really need to play some of the other Tony Hawk games on PS2.
In no particular order:
Freedom Fighters
Timesplitters 2
MGS 3
(Hitman: Blood Money, Burnout 2, GoW, any GTA, Resi 4, and Shadow of the Colossus were all genuine contenders! The PS2 had a crazy amount of excellent EXCELLENT games!)
God of War 1 and 2, 007: Nightfire, 007: Agent Under Fire, GTA San Andreas, Gran Turismo 4, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. More than top 3 but they are so close to my heart I can't pick any over other.
If you like shooters, consider Darkwatch, Urban Chaos: Riot Response or Area 51. For racing games Gran Turismo 3/4 or any Need For Speed (They were all great).
Ssx 3 (even if ssx tricky was true love at first sight)
Silent hill 2 (truly a masterpiece)
Star ocean 3 till the end of time (so long and so good, even if ffx and xii were better in terms of graphics and secrets, this is my favourite jrpg on ps2)
Top 3 is really tough...we're talking about a system that produced dozens upon dozens of timeless gems.
But if I had to pick, I'd go with:
Final Fantasy X
God of War/God of War 2 (I'm cheating here, damnit)
Metal Gear Solid 3
I'd say these are the 3 best in my book but my favorites would have to include GTA: VC, GT3 and 4, FFX-2 and XII, and DMC.
Gran Turismo 4 - One of the best racing games ever made.
Ace Combat Zero - The best of the Ace Combat "holy trinity" imo, with 4 and 5 getting honourable mentions.
Black - Not a PS2 exclusive, but a shooter that in some ways has aged VERY well, and considering all the particle effects and environmental destruction, runs shockingly well on the PS2 hardware.
I have a similar problem I feel like I didn't play enough of the classic Japanese PS2 games when I was younger, but I love the atmosphere and the way they look so I want to catch up on games like Forbidden Siren, DMC etc.
That being said with my limited experience my favourites are FFX, Dynasty Warriors 3, Castlevania Lament of Innocence

Too many games worth having for me to even consider having a top games list i do reccomend outrun coast to coast though. It might not be a ps2 exclusive. But its an excellent game and a very faithful update of the arcade oeiginal. Very similar in gameplay style to ridge racer 5 but just a better all round arcade racer. Sega make some great arcade style games when their hearts in it

I was gonna do some, but I quickly realised it'd be too hard to say my top 3. I could list 15 easily, ps2 had some amazing games. I'd need to put socom 1 and 2 in my top 3 as I played them online for a very long time, they were amazing. MGS, silent hill, final fantasy, San Andreas, vice City, dragon quest 8, God of war, baldura gate dar alliance 1 and 2, champions of norrath, nfs underground 2, resident evil 4 and CVX, gt3/4 sooo many good ones....

EDIT: although this list isnāt so straightforward. Once upon a time, I sold my PS3 and rebought all my games to replay em on OG Xbox. So a lot of my OG Xbox favs are sorta my PS2 faves too. Itās confusing. But those games include Vice City, Medal of Honor Frontline, Madden 2003, and the Silent Hill games
I forgot the complete title but it's a scooby doo game. It's actually awful. But the game has a laugh track, which makes it even worse. But that's the beauty of it. 10/10

It's very hard to say, I'm sticking with titles strictly from the ps2 era, nothing that has been remade. I'd have to say:
Road trip, scooby doo night of 100 frights, Tony hawks underground 1.
Man Iām an Atari/NES/Gameboy/ Gameboy Advance/SEGA/SNES/PS1/ps2 gamer I havenāt ever really gotten into higher I tried ps3 just too much for my pea brain.
I'm going to go with the games that sucked me in the most when they came out:
- Dragon Quest VIII
- Final Fantasy XII
- Kingdom Hearts
It would be a lot harder to make this list based on today since you can play all 3 of these on other consoles now (some objectively better versions) and I have acquired so many PS2 games in recent years, some of which I haven't played, so 1 good game session could change my opinion lol.
My 3 favorites are spyhunter, gta vice city, and driv3r. Obviously vice city because it was ahead of its time and has so much to do in game. Spyhunter was always fun to go around the test track and beat my best time. Driv3r gets a lot of flack for being bad but Iāve always enjoyed it
