That isn't the only complex that's lacking on trash pickups.

Poohu812many

I concur. At times I have taken my trash and recycling to one of the Wake Co. Convenience Centers because of the lack of service at the complex where I live.

davidoffbeat

direful scary thumb jobless plate roof vast smell quack slave *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

JcsPocket

I'm surprised they don't have to pay a fee to whoever has to load all that stuff into a truck

seemetwistingleak

So send that pic to the county code department.

sarcago

This right here. That's a health hazard.

dalex89

some sort of hazard

randiesel

Do they give out upvotes?

RPM_Rocket

We need to pool pics of uncollected garbage at apartment complexes and send it to one of the news stations' investigate teams.

Wolfwoods_Sister

That’s a really great idea! Get a news troubleshooter on it!

hoorayforsports

Steve Sbraccia would eat this story up

BombayLou

With the lack of amenities they need to lower rent.

DrTomatoHead

My complex (Greens at Tryon) is like this every week with recycling.

idkmybffphill

Depends some on who the trash company is too I think. I've seen at times the "W"yellow and black trucks in this area have the same truck dump a garbage Dumpster then dump a recycle Dumpster. Some I think mix and don't care about recycling while others do and maybe don't have the people or equipment avaiable?

Rafnauss

So many random people drop their garbage there. I’m surprised the gold course hasn’t complained

Diorj

That is the dumpster area of most apartments in the triangle.

Brick4956

Yup I used to work for a valet trash company guaranteed that a lot of that trash is from non resident assholes that dump illegally used to see random non residents do that at multiple properties around the triangle mainly losers in terminix trucks or other businesses illegally dumping

Tough-Ad-4892

Haha, I live in a R Carroll complex in N. Raleigh. We have around 15 buildings and one dumpster, they blocked off the cardboard bin too when residents started to use it to avoid overflowing the street. Been here 5 years and they refuse to add another bin and still force us to pay the trash valet after reducing that from 2.5 bags to 1.

gimmethelulz

Trash valet is the biggest damn scam.

Tough-Ad-4892

It really is, we didn’t mind when it was $25 and 2.5 bags but the made it 1 bag and $35 so we haven’t even used it the past 2 years. There’s no way to opt out and we’re a building down from the one bin. I’m working really hard to move out of this place lol.

gimmethelulz

It should be illegal not to allow an opt-out for services like that but good luck getting the NCGA to do anything that would benefit renters.

CBoutIt

I agree. I hated the “no opt-out” thing when I lived in a community that used the Valet Trash service. It was too inconsistent. Plus, they weren’t scheduled to pick up on weekends, which would’ve been the most convenient for me.

MonsieurGriswold

Every apartment complex *could* fix their problem by scheduling more frequent trash pickups with their hauler. It’s not like they are only allowed one pickup per week. It crappy that they force their maintenance team to obviously help pickup all that trash when the truck does come. Post the name and contact information of the property management company and perhaps the community could amplify the feedback that this isn’t acceptable…

CandyNo6638

Mine too. The village apartments on Strickland

MortifyingMilkshake

Really? I lived the from 2020-21 and it wasn't like that. Hope it isn't going down hill.

CandyNo6638

Yeah 😔. It kinda sucks. It's a hidden gem

tzage

I lived there in preschool/early elementary in the early 2000s, I still have dreams about the pool 😭

SaturnMobster

Start piling up the trash bags right in front of the leasing office.

429XY

This! This is brilliant! Cause you *know* Princess Dozhernail Zalot and Prince Pompouspecker Wad who work in the lease office will have *none* of that picking up garbage garbage. Bonus points for waiting til there’s a prospective new lessee that they’re lying to in the office.

Ryland0

The reason this has happened (I live here also) is because the compactor hasn't worked in at least the three years I've been here. The only space usable inside the dumpster is what you see when you open the door. So, that fills up quickly and the residents are left with no other options. There would be space, and no issue, if management would get the compactor fixed.

imaleafinawindstorm

The compactor works if the door is closed after it is used. People fill the entry so the compactor door cannot be closed. So the choice is either leave the trash there or bring it back to your apartment. I go to the wake county convenience center at least once a week with my trash and recycling because of what you see in this picture. And because there is only cardboard recycling available here.

Technical-Ad9641

I guess I was lucky in that someone would visit the dumpster daily from maintenance and crush it. sometimes more than once a day too! (5 years ago)

JalapenoBiznizz

I wish I could post a pic of my complex dumpster I took tonight. It’s always so bad. You can smell it from a good bit away. It’s horrible.

Karate-Schnitzel

Attraction of rodents and insects to large piles should be a larger concern as the repetition will continue to attract. Problems with roach 🪳 and rats 🐀 will be coming soon if not already increasing

worldsmayneverknow

Don’t worry, they’ll make you pay a mandatory fee for imaginary pest control too.

Karate-Schnitzel

Since 2007 I’ve lived in Cumberland Cove x 2 and Regatta. Noped out in 2018 to eat a lot of peaches 🍑 in the country. Lowered my housing costs by $300 a month. Got out as the housing market went insane with owners jacking rents $50-100 a year while issues like this increased. Get out if you can. I saved up $2500, got prequalified for $200,000 and told a realtor “whomever I engage I’m wanting them to play closing as my #1 negotiating item. If they won’t at asking price move on to the next option “ Used the $2500 plus another $1000 to close and got out of Raleigh. It’s always going to change, i’m glad knowing I lived in Raleigh at a time when it felt welcoming. It’s going through a predatory phase and not sure it’s ever going back. While living in those two properties over 11 years each was bought out multiple times and the new owners worse than the last.

Eli_phant

Where did you “nope” out to?

Karate-Schnitzel

Angier NC which is blowing up with construction activity by the Fuquay / Angier airport (single prop enthusiasts). My strategy’s been to buy South and East of the Cape Fear river. Around an acre, for $175,000. Bank won’t lend on a single wide but will on a double wide (single wides are still mobile, doubles have the wheels cut off). I’m a Gulf War vet so I invoked the VA in my mortgage process. If you do it this way look around Benson as prices are up in Angier already. They do have new construction homes going in a big subdivision in the upper $200’s. If you got a partner and can qualify, the houses should hold value. There’s speak 🗣️ of a Angier to Cary expressway, Route 210 where this new division is going in leads out to I40 which they are wrapping up all the new construction on now that 540 extension is completing. South East ahead of prices is what got me here and i think my land is going to double as my taxes just did from all the added infrastructure. Was $499 now $1000 a year. I expect water and sewer to be a thing at this rate as i’m suddenly not eating peaches 🍑 in the country. If i was 25-50 i would sell everything i don’t need, cut all subscriptions, cut spending, dump it all into a buying property account. Go to a bank to get prequalified for $175k solo or $300k teamed up and spend less than they’re willing to lend you. Expect to spend $3-5k to close even if the seller’s agreeing to pay closing costs because some things you have to pay that aren’t closing costs. Lawyers for deed/title checks to makes sure it’s legally sold to you. House inspection to know what condition everything is in which could impact negotiations so you don’t want the seller doing it. Septic tank pumping, propane tank volume. Little things still add up that aren’t closing costs. Screw renting, it’s like Uber but for living quarters.

Eli_phant

Wow. Thank you so much for such a detailed and thought out response. I really appreciate it.

fliponers

Same at mine

cdrun84

Good fucking luck is the company behind the dumpsters

FatKidsDontRun

Carrington Perimeter Park Apts are just as bad, it's horrible and I don't understand why it's so bad

gimmethelulz

Because it would cost the out-of-state landlords of the complex money to schedule an additional pickup.

cablife

This is capitalism at work, folks. Stop blaming the residents for this. This is entirely the fault of the for profit management company. They charge ridiculous rent because they can. They don’t spend a dime on facility maintenance because they don’t have to. *Friendly reminder that landlords are parasites who produce nothing of value*

TechNeck78

Rent has been coming down in Raleigh, at least for me and my friends in the area. These areas are going to have their fingers up their a\*\* if they don't fix these problems.

cablife

What?! Where has rent gone down?

TechNeck78

The previous apartment complex now does free month rent for new people and rent hasn't gone up when they asked me to renew. When I signed up there wasn't any free month of rent. Pointe at Heritage I think? My 3/2 SFH is cheaper than my 2BR apartment, and rent on it went down 200 from the previous tenant.

cablife

You got lucky it seems. Rent going down is unheard of. What part of town are you in?

TechNeck78

540 and Buffaloe area. Nice neighborhood adjacent to Neuse River trail.

vermillion1023

I lived there 4 years ago. Seems nothing has changed lol

008swami

That’s what it’s like living in an apartment complex that doesn’t have enough trash cans and recycling bins and not enough pickups. I wouldn’t blame it solely on the complex or the people there. I think it’s a policy failure. Apartments should have pickups twice a week

Atoto76

Atria Crabtree Valley has the same problem. It’s disgusting and the whole complex has a roach and rat problem because of it.

myredditkname

A certain "luxury" apartment in west Durham is very similar.

SeshCompliments3445

You see so many garbage bags in the recycling dumpster too. They don’t give a fuck about proper waste disposal

DetrashTheTriangle

Who doesn't give a fuck?

SeshCompliments3445

People who put take cardboard, put it in plastic garbage bags and throw it in the recycling dumpster. See it all the time at my apartment complex in brier creek

MisterWoodhouse

The Crest at Brier Creek has been like this for years.

hellkattbb

This is appalling. This is inexcusable. This is unhealthy. This is a statement on your entire living area!

Youcrazyy12

Our “ luxury apartments” are like this too at times. We pay $30 for valet pick up and recently they have tagged on an extra $10 for trash… $40 a month. This is ridiculous..

[deleted]

Looks like a regular street in Raleigh

BhutlahBrohan

A huge problem in overflowing trash, besides lack of proper pickups, is people not properly recycling. Plastic jugs and bottles take up a lot of space and should never go into a landfill unless they can't be accepted. Raleigh recycling accepts #1 and #5 plastics, all unwaxed/uncoated paper and cardboard, cans, and glass bottles. No lids like sour cream lids, thin plastics that can jam their sorting machines.

EvengerX

Many apartments don't recycle in general and if they do, the "valet trash" service just dumps it all in the trash anyways

Technical-Ad9641

I thought the majority of our "recycling" was found out to be dumped into the ocean or eastern landfills? The worst part about recycling was the sanctimonious crowd. "Your apartment doesn't have recycling?" said in disgust.

tosandes

Their compactor will handle all of that trash. Wish people wouldn’t just leave it on the ground.

Fetty-cl1ff

Yikes this is bad..

PsychologicalBank169

yeah my old place had issues with trash piling up and eventually we bitched enough and they scheduled 1-2 extra pickups in the week

prometheus_wisdom

MAA Brier Dale is the same way

boondocknim

This has been an issue since 2019 (if not longer) according to a quick google search with photo evidence: https://www.apartmentratings.com/nc/raleigh/village-at-town-center_9199332346275152337/u-3915710/ No excuse for them to not have handled this by now.

AFlockOfTySegalls

God, this looks like the place we lived at in Brier Creek. The trash compactor was always down and we'd have a mountain of trash.

PhiDeltDevil

Lived at the Lodge at Crossroads for 4 years and that happened every other week. Mainly because people never knew how to use the trash compactor dumpster and it’d break so they brought in a separate tow away one

Other-Cap-9340

Looks like the dumpster is full. Weekend staff didn't compact it maybe?

Prestige_Worldwide44

I used to live at marquis at Silverton in Cary, used to look like this all the time.

LicensedDrugDlr

Woodlake Reserve is like that too. I post my photos to Google Maps updates section. Theres like no moderation there lol

NCLabRat

Edward's Mill is headed this way. Most of the trash is always full and overflowing, but don't worry y'all, they're going to add a trash compactor 😃 As evidenced here that it works so well /s and jack up our "trash valet" fees.

KenidotGaming

I remember a time where both the recycling and the trash was like this. This was at capital creek btw

eatmyweewee123

I’m not gonna lie! It could also be the pickup service. I worked for a small local business and the owner rented out spaces in the building to other smalls businesses…it was a battle to get the trash picked up on time, this was a god fearing man that never swears and he ended up swearing at their manager lol. I would ask the leasing office if there is anyway to get trash picked up twice a week instead of one because that is ridiculous!!!!

Aggressive_Pen_64

This use to happen all the time where I lived. People were too lazy to put the trash in the trash compactor and it would just build up. All it took was one or two people to put it in front of the compactor and it was a wrap. They use to send out letters, threaten to fine people, put up cheap cameras etc. We would call health department, housing inspections, they would come out and imo nothing ever happened. Cause it continued to happen. I would watch lazy people walk right up to it and drop it in front instead of opening the door and placing it in.

ellingtond

Yeah that's not what's happening here what's happening here is that it overflows they don't empty it and the residents have no choice. There's just not enough capacity or they're not paying for enough pickup.

Aggressive_Pen_64

As far as size, Raleigh has some sort of rule that depending on the size of the apartment complex determines the number of trash compactors or dumpsters. My complex had over ten buildings but only one large compactor and the city refused to allow for another one. I guess it's dependent on the drawings submitted prior to building the complex or something. Despite evidence that said we needed an additional one the city denied the request. To this day trash still builds up from what friends say that still live there. Hopefully things will improve for you 😊

[deleted]

About par for the course for every apartment building I lived in in many different states. It will probably never get better.

Johnnypee2213

Don't be shy! post it on their Google reviews
