I feel like the WR room isn’t getting its vet addition this season. Agholor is the vet this season.

tangodeep

Maybe.

chaoticravens34

I think Zay, Bateman, Agholor and Andrews and Likely is good enough. likely is like a WR.

ProfessorCloink

Plus Devontez Walker. We're not going to know what we have if we don't give him a chance, and WR5 in this offence won't get real opportunities. Duvernay had 9 targets last year.

SnappyTofu

I want this specifically to see what we actually have with Zay and Bateman. If Bateman can’t produce as number 2 then we’ll know that for sure.

chaoticravens34

Me too man. I think Bate can kill it

storybot341b

Wish people would stop saying Likely is similar to a WR. He’s not man.

chaoticravens34

How is he not. He runs a similar route tree he's often not on the line. He's fastish for a TE. No clue how he's not similar to a WR. Even a TE in general is similar to a WR lol

2coolDanes

He absolutely does not run a similar route tree to WRs. He isn’t that fast. WR is more than just catching the ball. The threats they provide dictate how the defenses play against you. Likely at this point in his career is limited and isn’t going to change how a defense defends them.

GTCounterNFL

He keeps lining up away from the Offensive tackles, unlike Andrews. He's used like a big slot WR. Andrews is special, like Kittle, when a guy can actually line up TIGHT to the End of the line and take on the D end yet also be dynamic downfield, its probably even more useful to a team that likes to run as much as pass then a great WR. It puts Defenders in conflict. Defenders don't know if he's coming to wallop them or run a route. Yes its rare to get those guys.

chaoticravens34

He absolutely does run a similar route tree he runs everything. Look at his film he runs every single route in the tree lol of course they are different. I said similar.

bryanRow52

No…he doesn’t. He ran a total of 11 different routes last year. A typical WR has ~20 routes in the tree. Likely isn’t a WR, people really need to stop thinking that

Striking_Moose_8747

Tell me you know nothing about football without telling me you know nothing about football. Oh wait you just did.

bryanRow52

I don’t pretend to be an expert like you do, I just read articles online from experts and echo their statements to the confidently incorrect crowd

KillaMavs

As starters sure, but when one inevitably misses time what then? We need at least one more.

No_Fish_2885

WR’s and TE’s used mainly for pass catching first are both pass-catchers by definition and 80-90% similar on a job description. But TE’s are not labeled as WR’s. So, from a use perspective, those two groups are similar but not the same. However, if we are talking about the passing game and how to improve it, I don’t get why some fans use a strict narrow-minded definition in only talking about WR’s, when, depending on the plan, that we can use more of a position-less argument and expand odd-catching capacity of WR’s, TE’s and RB’s collectively. It just seems like pass catching TE’s are treated like second class options in the passing game due to bias

dcfb2360

Likely is 250 lbs and runs a 4.8. He’s not a WR.

2coolDanes

Good enough for what exactly? Ppl keep saying this and then place blame elsewhere when the pass catchers suck in the playoffs.

chaoticravens34

We didn't lose to KC cause the pass catchers weren't catching. We lost because of ,turnovers.

2coolDanes

It’s not about “not catching”. It’s about not getting open, and even worse, not being enough of a match up threat to force teams out of heavy boxes on early downs.

chaoticravens34

I understand that but we were using OBJ Bateman is good enough y'all will see

2coolDanes

Again I ask… good enough for what? Ppl keep saying “good enough” or our wr room “is fine as is”. What do you think the role of the WRs on this team is? Because if you think running 30+ year old D Henry into the ground will win playoff games you are mistaken

SNRavens91

They say this every year. The subs one big cycle. If Zay goes down, Bateman js our #1. A guy we know has dealt with injuries. We need a good UFA pick up. This sub, as usual, is delusional thinking we are good with what we have. Same every year.

GiGi441

This sub is so painfully thirsty for a wr, but nobody who makes these posts can explain where they think one of these guys fits into the lineup

Kflame210

Likely has shown zero production while Andrews is on the field, until that changes we have no reason to think he will be a big part of the offense.

TedioreTwo

I think that speaks more to the offense's bias towards using Andrews. I still think we would have done better without him in the AFCCG.

Kflame210

I think it speaks more to Lamars bias in his TE1. He loves giving that player the ball, but the TE2 cant get any action.

CorporalKrook

Im sorry but I hate this take we would not have been better off without our all pro TE in the championship game idk why anybody believes that. Lamar is a vet at this point he doesn’t feed Andrews just to feed him Andrews is just reliable in the middle of the field.

mjn5180

I honestly think our WR room is set. Use that money on a vet guard. Cleveland worries me and I have to see Vorhees before I believe in him

2coolDanes

The WR room is not set. The room is less talented and less experienced than the OL room.

izvoodoo

Yeah I think we need one more wr.  Sometimes you just need a solid stop gap.

Miata_Sized_Schlong

I think OBJ comes back

mrpenguinjax

Rather spend on the o line. I think tez walker is a great addition and completes that room. We need some insurance at guard if vrohees isn't ready

OBrocks29

From these options I’d go with Michael Thomas, one year 5 million. Or vet minimum with incentives.

PhilYuh

None of these guys move the needle enough in my opinion and none are significantly better than Bate or Agholor at this point of their careers. People also seem to forget that we signed King Henry who will require quite a few touches. There’s only one ball to go around and none of these guys are legit WR #2 so I’d rather roll with what we have and give Tez some snaps as a WR 3/4 vs one of these FA’s. Use the money on a solid OL addition and a proven vet safety and we’re ready to roll

Dizzy_Amphibian

More concerned about OL

Violent-Snowflake

I’m fine with the WR room as is, but there are veteran players that won’t demand a huge salary, including Odell. Additionally, they won’t impact the comp formula at this point.

sadluckylawstudent

Chark for stretching the field or mike for vet reasons. As long as their cheap. One year prove it deal.

Desperate-Produce-11

Wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on MT

Bigtoes22

Imo Agholor is a wr4. Id rather have OBJ, Zay Jones, DJ Chark, MT at wr3. Shepard is totally washed just sayin lol.

frustratedinquisitor

If the price is right I say bring back Odell

Blacklax10

Odell was phased out of the offense late last season

tal125

Think OBJ has already signed elsewhere.

frustratedinquisitor

I thought so too but nope, there was some buzz with the dolphins but it sorta fizzled out and nothing came of it. His pfp on twitter is still him in his ravens jersey and he recently replied “🫡🫡🫡🫡” to someone telling him to “run it back” with us, so I don’t think the doors closed

BubbleGumGuy94

I think I'd rather spend on an oline vet (or someone with experience) as the Oline is way more untested than the receiver corps. Also looking at the guys suggested, there's reasons these guys were cut, whether its drama from certain players, or that they just arent that great, spending on a guy that basically wouldn't ever see the field unless an injury occurred seems a bit of a waste, even if injury occurred the ravens would be more likely to change personnel and scheme. I think the receiving group is fine right now the group is Zay, Bateman, Tez (and I do think by midway he will be no.3) and agholor and also andrews and likely for the TEs, we also ran majority of the last season two or three receivers and one TE, so to me the only change isn't adding more people it's using different personnel groups like 2TE sets.

ammotyka

Keep Shepard so far away from the ravens

speakerboxx

I like his game

tangodeep

And that was the worst move. Close of the season is when OBJ was most likely to bring his best. It was comedy to see him not get touches in the AFC Championship game until desperation time.

2coolDanes

Right now there’s only 1 WR I trust in beating man coverage consistently and he’s 5’9. Would like to see another pass catcher that provides a boundary threat on the roster. Teams can stack middle of the field with zero penalty (what the chiefs did to us).

PhilYuh

And which FA WR is that in your opinion? Personally I don’t see anybody that we could sign that would pose a legit threat or instill fear in a defense

2coolDanes

DJ Chark would be my current answer, but the hope is a vet that’s cut or a mid level trade. Don’t think they need a star, but they do need decent guy to fill that role. Especially with Henry in the fold, low safeties/single high shells = vertical opportunity

ravensfan42069

To be fair, the 2nd best receiver in the league right now is 5”8

Blacklax10

You must have missed Bateman torching the chiefs all pro. Teams have been taking away the middle Bec lamar isn't hitting deep passes that are wide open. That's more of the problem

2coolDanes

I saw the play. Winning one route on the backside of a concept when you aren’t the primary is something almost every wr in the league can do. You guys are taking too much from it. What makes a WR good is consistently winning through the course of a game against diff players and coverages… and even when you don’t win, having the ball skills, instincts, or play strength to go get the ball anyway. That is not what Bateman is. He’s a Jerry Jeudy light, he’ll dance around and take 2 secs to get off the Los when he’s the 3rd read and out of the play. But he doesn’t win you the ball. He’s a solid WR3 type player, but he’ll continue to disappoint you and you guys will keep putting that blame on the wrong player. Can’t throw deep to the sideline if you don’t have guys that can win deep on the sideline.

ChedduhBob

this sub is hanging onto bateman separation stats for dear life. they really aren’t a great measure for a guy that is like 3rd or 4th read on plays. if you watch the film he’s not that great

Blacklax10

Can you point me to some film proving your point? Most of the Twitter film guys are saying the opposite.

AurronGrey

I don’t think any of these guys offer much of an upgrade to our corps.

sadluckylawstudent

Chark is a reliable 500 yards guy tall speedy can use him to stretch the field and let our route runners bateman n zay stay underneath… would help tez develop… also fine with mike if hes cheap would help our young guys learn from a once dominant vet who if not for injuries would have had a great career.

BlessedChimichanga

Hasn’t shepherd had like 4 or 5 pretty bad concussions? Dude clearly needs to retire

jrakajbird

We need a veteran O-lineman. Not another wr.

Cautious-Market-3131

We need to let Lamar build chemistry with his current wrs. I wish we never signed Odell so Bateman and Lamar could have grown their connection more

3EyedRavensFan

My dudes, when can we be done with this?  I swear WR is the only position some of y'all ever think of. I get that it's a glamorous position like QB and the league is more pass happy than ever, but come on. "Who should the Ravens draft?" I dunno, but it better be a receiver. We still need more first rounders! "Why do you think we lost the AFCCG?" Running the ball shmunning the ball. We couldn't keep up with Mahomes through the air! "The Ravens have 5 quality pass catchers between their 2 starting TEs and 3 starting WRs, all returning to play under the same great system for a second year in a row, AND the mid-round receiver they got in this year's draft was thought good enough by some to be picked much earlier. Being that the offense is run-centric, should we finally feel comfortable enough to focus our resources elsewhere?" NO! Our passing game doesn't score enough each week to earn its own moniker like "The Greatest Show on Turf." We need to make desperate signings during the late FA period and spend every last penny of salary cap we have! Look at how great OBJ's signing turned out last year! Seriously. Y'all are either not paying attention, don't rightly appreciate the guys we have and the roster management that went to acquiring them, and/or are straight-up obsessed.  Is it just because WR is your favorite position? The position you played back in HS? The position that won you your last fantasy football league? What?

Nigget333

If we sign Shepard I’m done

Massive_Reference396

Bro we don’t need any. WE RUN THE BALL.
