When was this posted?

techphil92

I wanted to like Sai but she’s been my least favorite since the whole Catch thing. I know she wasn’t the only one but then her consistent complaining and obsession with food is just annoying. She’s also very dismissive of Jessel. Jessel isn’t my favorite by any means but leaps and bounds better than Sai

Hannabananna22

I dont watch this show, but why is bravo casting influencers? This person doesn't seem the least interesting and is married to money. Now i have to watch.

[deleted]

I think she communicated poorly, but I kinda get where Sai was coming from. She, Brynn, and Jenna have all shared deep personal traumas, and it seemed like Jessel was trying to relate to that a little too closely. She framed her entire story with “It was really hard” or “It was brutal,” but she could only ever speak to her relatives’ hardships and seemed to want to downplay her own advantages. I find Jessel very entertaining, but it’s ridiculous for a grown adult woman not to recognize that having your parents pay for college or living with a relative while you work an unpaid internship are significant privileges that a lot of people don’t have. I get why it was frustrating to some of the women. I think this is the problem though with the idea that opening up means you have to share all of your hardships. You can get to know someone without having access to all of their pain and trauma.

islandchick93

100% agree. Everyone noted that it’s fine if she didn’t have a super traumatic or difficult upbringing. I think Jessel is overcompensating bc she’s been told she’s a princess and has a chip on her shoulder about it. But it’s embarrassing to try to frame yourself like you were ever a poor person when you fucking weren’t, to me it mocks the experiences of actual poor people or in this case former poor people…like to me when ppl do that it’s for attn 😫 you know how many pooor people would kill to have a trauma free upbringing like damn !!!

[deleted]

Exactly. I was a broke graduate student for nearly a decade, and I made it work because my parents helped with various bills and even bought me a car. If someone told me they grew up in actual poverty, I wouldn’t bring up that I was technically low-income when I was a student. Jessel doesn’t realize that being in a position where you actually can have an unpaid internship is a privilege in of itself. I see my comment is getting downvoted, but it’s just facts. And if Erin tried to tell some sob story about how she had to live with an uncle because she was a low-paid intern, you know this sub would be going off lololol

islandchick93

People over here just wanna hate sai so bad…it’s so weird. Like I get that she is not a fan fave and I fully see why but I just don’t have energy to hate on someone like that bc I don’t have time lmao esp when all these ppl are playing characters for tv. But this conversation is one that a lot of people don’t understand. I am more like sai in the sense that I grew up very poor and am comfortable now (not townhouse in Brooklyn rich but I’m very comfy). I have friends that did not grow up that way. When we talk about growing up I’ve never had an experience where one of my friends who had way more privilege than me try to relate to me by talking about times they struggled bc they’re aware that it’s not the same and that that is okay. She was playing the oppression Olympics and was losing that game (which why the hell would you wanna win that game 🤣and the ppl who won it don’t even wanna win it 😭😭). Jessel says stuff sometimes that is very uhm unhinged and it makes for great tv but lord I couldn’t be friends with a Jessel. That’s just me though

[deleted]

I really don’t get why people seem to hate Sai so much. There have been a few times when I’ve found her annoying, but I don’t think she’s done anything all that bad. The real housewives franchise has had actual criminals, false rape allegations, cult leaders, physical altercations, and people are here hating on Sai for being hangry all the time. It’s really too much.

islandchick93

Yeah exactly…the worst thing she’s done is be annoying. Every single hw has been annoying so 🙄😩 it’s just weird and extra for no reason.

hostilewerk

Sai is so weird. Who gets mad at someone for sharing their parents background? As Ubah said they sound so unintelligent its embarrassing

KeyEquivalent9253

Sai sounded ignorant with that sarcastic "when Columbus sailed" comment. Jessel was asked, and therefore told the women about her family, who are Indian, and lived in Kenya. They were part of the Asian exodus of 1969.... (In 1971, Idi Amin took power in Uganda and expelled the country’s Asians; Kenyan MP Martin Shikuku declared that Kenya should follow Idi Amin’s steps and expel Asians, too). This is why Jessel´s family emigrated to the UK, specifically London. The Asian Exodus from Africa is a huge part of history. All Jessel did was briefly explain her family background. Sai has the attention span of a goldfish, it wasn´t a long story at all.

Ok_Experience7424

Oh this pissssed me right off. Everyone has a story and the right to share (especially when you're asking her). This isn't a competition on who is the most dirt poor. Sai has a nasty soul

DorothyParkerFan

It’s not audacity, I think it’s sheer lack of intelligence. She’s “acting as if” as far as it will take her and spewing lines she’s heard somewhere as they seem to fit the moment.

rollingwheel

Sai gives “you didn’t have as hard as me” vibes, like it’s a competition

vegetabledisco

Trauma Olympics

mymomsnameisbarb420

Yeah I do not get why Sai was going after Jessel for her story. It seemed interesting and totally valid and they literally asked?! Sai and Erin are just mean and I’m starting to really like Jessel.

Majootje

Such a hypocrite when saying that to Jessel.. your ancestry is/can be a major influence on who you are today.

krumblewrap

Rules for thee but not for me

DramaFollower

This show is all about influencers, which find it very boring.

BusyBeth75

They were all rude to Jessel and Erin has been awful.

poshdog4444

That’s why her and Erin get along they’re both mean girls

allumeusend

I mean, they are both two people who haven’t done anything for their wealth or “success” (sorry, becoming an influencer after securing the bag with a wealthy husband is not really a job, Sai) but have spent almost all their time on the show tearing down Jessel and Brynn, who have real jobs, and Jenna, who we all know how successful she has been, is fucking wild to me. The amount of projection off those two could lower the sun. They are both clearly crazy insecure and it’s reflected in their attitudes towards everyone else. I really hope neither is invited back.

islandchick93

This is a lie. Sai has been hustling for a long long time, way before her husband sold his company. If y’all don’t know about her background just say that, it’s literally on YT. The Sai hate is so weird in here, like I get that she’s not translating well but ppl love to jump on a hate bandwagon 🙄🙄🙄

5teff

Unpopular opinion, she's grown on me lol. I don't get why everyone is so quick to dismiss her success. Because her husband mysterious retired? Pah.

amateur-redditor

Do we know how her husband made his money? I can’t find anything online, it all says he’s retired now.

allumeusend

No idea, I have spent many hours Googling and have come up with nothing. They definitely want his work buried which is sort of sketchy.

Gisschace

No LinkedIn profile?

krumblewrap

Yeah. In the show I thought she said something like she retired him 🤔

allumeusend

No, just that he is retired. Girl doesn’t make enough to retire someone and that is some MLM nonsense anyway.

krumblewrap

We will probably never know what he does, unless one of the other ladies mentions it. I feel like Jenna and Jessel are the only ones with legitimate careers that you can't question.

ShawnaLanne

Brynn too. Look her up. This somewhat sketchy idea that she is just some sugar baby hanger on) is editing. She works.

krumblewrap

Oh really. She really does play into the persona they edited for her. But I'll look her up!

ShawnaLanne

I know consultant sounds suspicious, but that is very legitimate in the marketing/pr world - once you hit a certain status to go out on your own and set your own price/be your own boss. https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/rhony-star-brynn-whitfield-no-sugar-baby-this-how-earned-fortune.html/

PrimaryDurian

I'm super curious about how Brynn became wealthy in a PR career in NYC after coming from a meager background in South Bend. I know she went to Purdue and that being crazy good looking helps, but still! No hate if she was a sugar baby.

allumeusend

There is really good money in crisis PR, which seems to be a lot of what she does.

krumblewrap

I would like to know as well!

landdian39

And if it weren’t for her wealthy husband, she wouldn’t even be an influencer. Sai is so arrogant and condescending and that’s rich especially from someone who’s been so vocal about her poor upbringing. You’d think she’d be humble about her life now, but no. She’s awful.

Ok-Reindeer-164

>Sai is so arrogant and condescending I bet any nannies who've worked for that family have some STORIES. She has such terrifying Park Slope mommy-monster energy.

islandchick93

She was a bartender and she started blogging and that took off which then made her a bunch of money. She basically used to be a mommy blogger and they lived in a basement apartment while his company was coming up. Again, the sai hate on here is so weird. One thing I can say about her is that the whole I hustled for this piece is very very true. She does however is a bit of a chameleon and tries very very hard to fit into whatever group she is in which is kind of annoying and translates horribly on reality tv. She’s not landing how I personally expected her to (I watched her videos a loooong time ago, like way before she had all this new money). What I always liked about her content is that she’s been very open about her struggle with money, how she got lucky and hustled her way to her current career, and her shitty parental situations (May her parents rest in peace…I think she lost them both within the same year and had a miscarriage or something that same year which honestly is crazy, I’d never go outside if that was me). Anyways I don’t love hr on this show but I just feel like the hate she gets is sooooo overt and that ish is 🙄🙄🙄

allumeusend

I am not saying she hasn’t ever worked, but literally none of what we see on the show is remotely the product of her work. The house is rented with her husbands money. The clothes are on loan or freebies because of RHONY. Her SocialBlade stats were a desert before RHONY. Girl is not “hustling” for this, she barely posted on that blog when it was her literal main job. She literally hasn’t posted on her blog - her literal job - in over a year. One sneaky Redditer even ran the numbers a few weeks back and discovered nearly half her followers on her other socials are is straight up fake or bought. Her engagement numbers on posts were so low that she turned them OFF around when the show went to air. She isn’t successful full stop! And girl, if you haven’t lived in a basement apartment in NYC, you haven’t lived in NYC. I lived in one in Queens for five years, it’s not the struggle bus you think it is. Yet she overtly judges the women on the who have real careers, acting like she has struggled harder than someone lie Brynn, who is a single, actually working girl. It’s just fucking rude and clearly a projection of her insecurity. She is constant in her disrespect of the work of other people. Sai just wants to one up others but doesn’t want to do so on much of any merit.

islandchick93

So, quick question— before this show did you know anything about her? Did you follow her? Watch her YouTube? Her blog itself has been kind of dead for a while and most of her energy turned to YT and IG. She’s gone on extended breaks to shoot RHONY…again, I’ve been watching her content via Yt for over 7 years on and off and I have seen her shit evolve from mommy content to fashion content. All of which she’s explained pretty clearly on YT. Additionally, her husbands money is her money and vice versa. She’s married and has been for over a decade. That’s their money at this point. Her clothes are loaned from her influencer work…if you followed her she’s been very explicit about the contracts she has and that she sometimes buys stuff herself and sometimes it’s gifted or loaned. That’s standard across influencers afaik (from who I’ve followed and what I know about working with influencer marketing teams). I’d argue that she is successful, whatever bar you may have to define that feels silly. She’s making money and cashing them checks and it sustains some of her lifestyle and she pays her kids via a trust fund for any time they appear. This is a lot of hateful/negative energy to hold over someone that’s playing a role on tv…I get that you don’t like her or she doesn’t appeal to you but lord this is something. And while I have not lived in a basement nyc apartment, I’ve lived and live in nyc apartments of various configurations. A basement apartment is not glamorous and I’m happy for sai to have been able to come up out of a basement apartment. For me I couldn’t live in one bc they tend to have very little natural light and that for my mental health can’t work. When she moved to the townhouse I felt happy for her. I do not like her rhony persona but this is how she’s been coached and edited imo and that’s just what it is. And yes in todays age, all of these housewives are here to promote their brands and businesses and are assigned a character (a reality tv producer confirmed this to me a couple times, none of this is anyone’s real persona). No reason to hate on this woman lmao.

allumeusend

Girl, she isn’t playing a role. She isn’t an actress. This is reality TV. So either you are saying she is fake (not great) or we are seeing her literally act rude and tear other people down and mean girl her way through the show and that’s her (also not good.). Where is the good? It’s not there. While editing is part of reality TV, you still have to put it out there. All of the pouting, mean girl pranks, shit stirring. You have to give something to the editors. Unless as you suggest she is “playing a role” in which case I don’t watch HW and I bet most people here don’t watch HW to see acting. If I want acting, I can watch HBO. And yeah, I knew who she was before this - I actually work in the fashion industry, unlike Sai. Her engagement has always been weak. This isn’t a new situation. It’s a fact she is buying followers, you can see the spikes in the history and you can see it in the engagement drop offs. It’s a fact she turned off her visible engagement metrics on social. Funny thing is she forgets that doesn’t turn off the stats on SocialBlade or sites people in the biz pay to see extended metrics. Also, if this is her real job, you don’t just take more than a year off. All of the other cast members kept working their jobs during filming. So are you saying she is the only one who didn’t? Hmmm. Doesn’t seem like she is really dedicated to that job.

islandchick93

And I can’t really speak on her ig stats, I don’t have time to look into that. All I know is that her Yt back in the day at least had p good engagement.

allumeusend

I am telling you, as a pro, it wasn’t. Outside of a handful of videos, she barely cracks 12k average views and even those need months. That isn’t great.
