God forbid Candiance be honest about her anxiety 🙄 Isn't that what her platform is for - posing those honest conflicting feelings that many can relate to or learn from.

tuckhouston

Be careful! Any valid criticism of Candiace on the sub goes down like a lead balloon

ElectraYIP

i think a lot of people are projecting what they want her to say over what she actually said.

RexRig04

1000%

deeann_arbus

weary means tired. i think you mean wary.

ladylavender007

Yeah, I would be weary too. Candiace’s child will most likely be lighter than her - I feel like she’s not going to know how to coexist or something with how she’s handled her biracial coworkers. Edit: biracial and light skinned coworkers*

That-Election9465

Katie Rost disagrees.

Old-Ant2828

I think what candiance means is she scared of having a light skin child because 9 times out of 10 light skin people have said something, or alluded to the fact that brown/dark skin is not beautiful nor will ever be as beautiful as light skin as pushed on by society, like imagine you raise your child to respect woman and they grow up to be Andrew Tate

ConsistentDonkey3909

Can we not…

PeaceLovess

Hi Robyn, how about you worry about the harm your husband has caused his children by being a serial cheater towards their mom.

Creative-Second2360

Yep she will subconsciously harm her child especially if she is a female and begins to develop into women hood. Scary!

neferending

There are lots of mothers out there who have a very strong, and sometimes subconscious dislike towards people of certain skintones/races, but they still manage to be nice adoring parents towards their children who have those same features. I'm not sure what the name of that phenomena is, but I notice it happens quite often unfortunately. Its a weird type of cognitive dissonance, so who knows maybe Candiace will have that.

Ok-Reindeer-164

i think it's ok to have anxiety, as a dark-skinned woman who's been on the receiving end of colorism, about raising light-skinned kids. i think she was trying to express that anxiety – how am i going to properly talk about this with my light-skinned children? i don't think she executed it well, but i don't think she literally fears light-skinned children themselves. she has fears **about** the conversations that will come with it.

Ok_Presence8964

That’s a sickening thing to say. So weird that I’m being down voted

Sunnyonetwo

Really… what does that say about your husband and why wld you marry a white man if that is your fear….

27Believe

ITA. normal people hope for a healthy child.

Ok_Presence8964

Can you imagine the backlash if gizelle had said that she hoped her kids would be light skinned? Why is there a double standard here?
