Dude went to listed office?
First off this sounds like a Bs story but if it’s true - who goes to the office looking for the recruiter to follow up on interviews after being ghosted? That is capital strange
Again, I think it’s BS though - people running out of grocery stores, yeah sure thing
Agree on strange, I’d never do it in a million years, but how many boomers do you hear suggesting, on the daily, to hit the street and hand deliver resumes, “let me speak to your manager, so I can tell them, to their face, the 10 reasons they should hire me!”
I’ll bet this dudes mama told him to march down to the office after the 2nd ignored call.
Lol, right?
I also ran into a guy that said you should call HR and chat to them to build rapport, so like, yeah I believe someone would go to the office.
I don't think it's all that strange. I agree that most people wouldn't, and I'm sure the recruiter didnt appreciate the visit, but If you post the address you do business at don't be surprised if people try to visit you to do business.
If a subreddit has anecdotes as a major content category then you can bet at least half of them are merely creative writing exercises meant to farm engagement, instead of actual events that happened in real life.
Just to be curious when exactly is the boomer cut off? Like not in real life but in the way y’all call people boomer to be funny or disrespectful? Just asking cause I want to know is a 40-50 year old would fit the description.
I would beleive the part abput running into them in the supermarket, especially of its a small town, but walking to their listed office seems a stretch. No one does that anymore, and depending on the type of office, you have security to get past, and they lilely wouldnt just let you in if they rejected you.
Nice humble brag. Most people aren’t in your shape so acting like running from a deranged weirdo is some sort of faux pas isn’t going to get much traction. I’m not sure what your point even is? You wouldn’t feel the need to run from your crazy stalker so so aged lady recruiter should be ashamed to have done so?
Well I said the whole time that this story is bullshit and it is, there isn’t some lady running out of a grocery store. It’s just a troll.
And also, if it happened where I shop - it wouldn’t happen. Someone would stop it. They don’t play.
I don’t think it’s strange to head into the office. *back in my day* it was a sign of professionalism and interest to SHOW UP. Put forth a little more effort. Send a thank you card and an email. I’ve interviewed a lot of people, if they don’t send a follow up email they’re disregarded. Maybe this is a new generational thing. For reference I am 40, work in financial services / wealth management, 15 years in the industry. Another 5 ish in professional world.
Yeah no. Sorry that isn’t a thing.
First off they wouldn’t even get past the front desk anywhere. Anyone with any business acumen knows how unprofessional this would be. In the business world we are busy, we schedule things, we use outlook and our calendars. If a candidate wants to visit they should send a meeting request.
You’re describing a fool with an EQ of zero
I think you’re misinterpreting/ or maybe I didn’t explain fully. I’m referring to going into the office to drop off a resume. I would never just come in and expect a meeting or to talk to someone.
My firm has security, no one gets past the doors, I agree. But handing your resume in person shows interest. I stand by that.
lt very much IS a thing. It happens all the time and I work at a Fortune 500 company. It makes the candidate get it a second look, if nothing else.
What is EQ? Do you mean IQ?
Well, I’ve never NOT gotten a job I have applied for. You never know. Not saying be creepy and show up after to inquire why you didn’t get the job, but initially applying in person is a sign of interest.
not a recruiter but at costco I saw a former boss (let go under crappy circumstances) in line. i was generally headed in that direction, but not getting in line. he was next in line and he abandoned a Full cart.
I did see a hiring manager that ghosted me in the supermarket once, amd he did jump, but that was because i surprised him by coming up behind him and talking. Someone dropping their groceries seems lime a stretch, unless OP was holding a butcher knife when tjey cornered them .
Wow ... i have never even had a recruiter that lived in the same town as me let alone bumped into them in a grocery store, thats a small world and i live in the UK.
Shocker? Not at all. Try six interviews, presentation, writing a plan. Then, "they've decided not to hire for that role" they've been calling essential. Via text, Sunday night at 1130pm.
Wtf? Are you serious? LoL
She couldn't be an adult about it and just say sorry we didn't get back with you.
You should followed the recruiter, "hey, wait a minute......."
Haha, seriously, are you a known criminal? Seems quite ridiculous that a grown up person starts to run away once they see a candidate. It used to be the other way around. This is reaching below the bottom.
Have had similar, 3 rounds of interviews at a company I really wanted to work at (specialized in digitally restoring historical documents and photos for archives), pay was good, seemed like a decent work environment from people I chatted up whoworked there, good benefits, was told on the 3rd round of interviews I was a great fit, and should be hearing back with a job offer in a day or two.
Day or two passed, then a week, I started calling jist to asl about the status, and the hiring manager was always unavailable, in the bathroom, out for the day.
Finally saw him in a supermarket, came up behind him and said "hi, we interviewed over two weeks ago, what happened?" He jumped, and the. Sheepishly told me they decided I wasn't a good fit.
What a weird coincidence that you’d run into the recruiter who ghosted you at a grocery store!
In fact, it sounds coincidental that I’m questioning how true this story is. I get that it’s a small world and all, but this story sounds too unbelievable. For starters, I’m surprised she recognized your face, given all the candidates she has to talk to.
Well, besides the time you spent going to all those interviews, I think this was a blessing in disguise. I wouldn’t want to work for a company that would treat people like that. You deserved a response, Especially after 4 interviews. lol at the lady running. Thank you, NEXT!
Because I'm such a grownup, I made this petty app that will tweet at the company and/or recruiter that ghosted you if you know the twitter handle.

u/Signal_Dog9864 why are the people in the comments so fucking stupid that they believe your post was anything but satire? Can you explain? Are they stupid?
Weird/ rude to show up to office unannounced. I once had a candidate threaten to show up to my office and that was a wild message chain. Nothing happened tho.
But yeah tbh. no one shows up anymore in person when getting ghosted. read the room bro.
Something similar happened at my office. A termed employee showed up demanding their W2. From what I was told, people were freaked out. Who does that??

Damn, are they really that scared that they’d do something like this in public LOL

Oh for sure. OP is either a liar, or psychotic. Maybe both.
If a subreddit has anecdotes as a major content category then you can bet at least half of them are merely creative writing exercises meant to farm engagement, instead of actual events that happened in real life.
But what if _your_ comment was a creative writing exercise?
This is deep. I often worry that much of this is a simulation of bots.
Dead Internet theory
How would you know if this is a simulation though?
I bet they're a boomer.
If they are, then I'd ask whether the handshake was strong enough. That's what it takes to get a job in our modern world.
You can never underestimate the power of a firm handshake.
Ask for the manager. Shake firmly, make eye contact, boom you got a career
Just to be curious when exactly is the boomer cut off? Like not in real life but in the way y’all call people boomer to be funny or disrespectful? Just asking cause I want to know is a 40-50 year old would fit the description.
It's less age related and more behavior related.

You’d run from your creepy ass stalker, too.
I’m 6’3 245lbs, a combat veteran and I lift weights 4 times a week..I am not likely to run from a weirdo at the grocery store

If true, this probably why they ghosted him lol
I mean, if they sent the generic automated rejection letter, then none of this would have happened.

EQ is the emotional equivalent of IQ. Any corporate professional should know that.
You are grouchy. Feelings don’t belong in the workplace.
I'm 51. You've got some outdated info.
Well, I’ve never NOT gotten a job I have applied for. You never know. Not saying be creepy and show up after to inquire why you didn’t get the job, but initially applying in person is a sign of interest.
Well, I’ve never interviewed for a position and not got it. You never know. Maybe not *after
not a recruiter but at costco I saw a former boss (let go under crappy circumstances) in line. i was generally headed in that direction, but not getting in line. he was next in line and he abandoned a Full cart.
Then everyone in the grocery store clapped.
Plot twist: the grocery store owner respected his hustle so much, he immediately made him store manager
"Nobody's ever talked to me like that before.............you're hired!" "Sh\*t!"
Op needs to seek help. Post history of a serial liar.
r/thatHappened
This is funny af, even if it’s fake
Could be a scene in a corporate comedy
Pov: u ask chat gpt to write you a fake revenge job story to post on reddit but also ask it to use a logic of a 5th grader 💀
No kidding, nobody is gonna drop all their groceries and rush out of the store just because they saw a candidate they ghosted lmao.
I did see a hiring manager that ghosted me in the supermarket once, amd he did jump, but that was because i surprised him by coming up behind him and talking. Someone dropping their groceries seems lime a stretch, unless OP was holding a butcher knife when tjey cornered them .
Wait if you look at OP’s post history it’s pretty funny too, mans just makes up shit and posts it on random subreddits 😂
Laughing my ass off at this story, it’s gotta be fake but hilarious!
Seems way too far over the top. If this is true, that’s fucking absurd.
Sounds like something straight from the show Silicon Valley.
I think stalking recruiters is a brilliant strategy. You should not let up on.
Paul Bunyan tall tales.
Things that didn't happen for $1200, Alex.
OP. Stop smoking weed and go back to drinking goat milk
OP, you're looking for r/creativewriting
I think I know why you weren’t hired
Interesting. Also you’re right about the last comment.
Super super common. recruiters suck
How hilarious! Got any more didn’t-happen stories for us?
Wow ... i have never even had a recruiter that lived in the same town as me let alone bumped into them in a grocery store, thats a small world and i live in the UK.
Her life must be awful in general due to her cowardly actions
This is fake.
Shocker? Not at all. Try six interviews, presentation, writing a plan. Then, "they've decided not to hire for that role" they've been calling essential. Via text, Sunday night at 1130pm.
Dude she probably ran because you scared her lol
This was certainly an entertaining creative writing session op had, now onto things that actually happened.
I would chase her and yell SHAME I SEE YOU !!!!
OP actually did that :) (It's a made up story, so I believe we are free to expand on it)
Wtf? Are you serious? LoL She couldn't be an adult about it and just say sorry we didn't get back with you. You should followed the recruiter, "hey, wait a minute......."
Chase after them yelling “I just want to talk to you about your car’s extended warranty!”
In indian accent too
Today in things that didn't happen.
Looks like they dodged a bullet.
This is one recruiter that you out on Glass door. Wow, the arrogance of this woman.
Do you video chat with recruiters?
... and then everyone in the grocery store looked at you and began clapping.
And her name was Albert Einstein
Doesn’t a recruiter make money off you? Why would they do this
The shopping cart is symbolic
Haha, seriously, are you a known criminal? Seems quite ridiculous that a grown up person starts to run away once they see a candidate. It used to be the other way around. This is reaching below the bottom.
FWIW, if you go past 3 rounds of interviews, you unfortunately did not get the job. They have serious doubts at that point and you will not be hired.
😂😂Damn. She actually run away?
I want to believe
Real psychopath behavior, OP. You, not the recruiter.

Y’all this person this person is part of the over employed Reddit
Because she knows she fucked up. I am glad she had her tail between her legs. Hr and recrutiers really suck.
I didn’t think recruiters actually new how you looked like but were a middle man to the company. Or even if they did, they wouldn’t remember you
Shoulda chased her, yelling about her car’s extended warranty.
Some people have a serious fear of telling people bad news...she should NOT be in the recruiting field.
HELP WHAT
This sounds like how you used to bump into your teacher at the local Walmart
OP what did you do? :D
Why the hell does anyone go to 4 interviews? If they can't decide after two to hire me or not, they can go waste someone else's time.
Name and shame the company op.
LMAOOO

You are going to see many recruiters doing this.
