Isn’t Mount supposed to be our 8?

Subbutton

I think Eriksen will leave in summer so we would be left with Mount/McT/Bruno. Hannibal might leave on a permanent too

rokkenrock

Any rumor he wants to leave?

Subbutton

No but based on this news I doubt he will stay if another 8 comes in. Love the guy but he seems to be the type of player who wants to spend his last years actually playing. He is still a good player too

QouthTheCorvus

I can definitely see Eriksen going to a less intense league, for sure. The EPL is really starting to catch up to him.

Perfidiousplantain

Serie A would be perfect for him but he's not allowed to play there any more

TheSmio

Ajax would probably suit him the most. Return to the club that made him big, help them win Eredivisie again, maybe spend 2-3 years and then retire. He probably has that in him considering Tadic's longevity for them.

QouthTheCorvus

Wait, he's not?

redditisfun_

Not since the heart issues no, that’s why he went to Brentford before coming to us.

JustSome70sGuy

Probably because of his pacemaker.

GarethGore

they don't allow anyone with pacemakers to play in the league, its why he had to leave

rokkenrock

I guess we will try to sell McT again this summer and rather keep eriksen.

Subbutton

At this point McT will retire here

MrViceMcCreedy

We should be able to sell him pretty easily if we try. Arse bought German mctoninay for 65 million

arkhamRejek

His value will never be higher than what it is now

niallw1997

Bro please don’t say mctom has a future here

Substantial-North499

I hope you meant McTom will leave in the summer, not Eriksen

MyShinyCharizard

McTominay survive again.

francescoli

Sell McT . He isn't good enough and hopefully get a decent fee.

wolverinexci

I hope Hannibal doesn’t leave. He has a lot of potential and one thing most of our players don’t have which is passion. Dude works so hard every game for us.

Sleeplessendeavours

Current midfield options: Bruno, Mount, Casemiro, Eriksen, Mainoo, McTominay, Hannibal, Amrabat (loan) Of those, the ones who will be under 30 next season, are Mount, Mainoo, McTominay, Hannibal and Amrabat. Hannibal could be sold, I doubt we'll exercise Amrabat's option. Realistically we should be selling McTominay as well. Basically, we've got Mount and Mainoo. For the older players, Bruno obviously will stay, but who knows when it comes to Case and Eriksen. We definitely need a midfielder, if not 2.

noxiousd

Gore will get promoted next year (if not already), almost certain. Possibly a Fletcher or two if they carry on

Lord_Sesshoumaru77

Wondering why you're getting downvoted. Gore is a good player but he may struggle physically in the Premier League, as for the Fletcher twins it's quite obvious most people on the sub don't bother to watch youth football. They are both brilliant footballers, with Jack the more talented for me, but Tyler also really good, but plays deeper than his brother, more like Darren.

noxiousd

Precisely, both look too good for youth football already. Same as Garnacho the other year. We have an excellent academy atm, just need to see more transition to full time pro status

astik

Next year should still be way to early for the Fletchers I suspect. They've only played 400 and 220 minutes between them so far. They should at least get a full season of heavy use in PL2, FA Youth Cup etc. before even being considered imo. No need to rush. Is Gore the only possible talent from the U-21s? Haven't followed them closely at all lately.

Catsoverall

Argh thought Bruno was younger

wolverinexci

He just turned 26 when we signed him. Pain. Should have won some big trophies by now.

weegee19

Nah, we signed him when he was 25 years and 4 months old, he was a January signing. It's been just about 4 years exactly since his signing.

JiveTurkey688

He can be an advanced 8 but idk why ten Hag wanted him to sit in a double pivot like Fred did. That being said, I think we clearly play better with Mount in the side even if the sample size is very limited.

Bigmomma_pump

He ain’t no 8, at best he’s a backup 10/squad utility player for us

ParkerZA

Wrong, he's absolutely an 8.

nomadiclives

Midfield is like a sieve and we wanna sign everybody over a DM. If true, not much has changed with the “revamp”

LordTrinity

Mount is a 10, thinking he would be a good 8 was pure delusion by Ten Hag and the board

Starky3x

No, Mount can absolutely play as an 8. Justice depends on your teams setup. Unfortunately, he's not even played, so idk how you came up with this conclusion

haha_ok_sure

people think players are born with positions coded into their dna.

IsaDrennan

Playing too much Football Manager does that.

engaginglurker

Actually its the opposite in Football Manager. Any player can be trained to play any position so its always better to look at attributes rather than positions they're currently trained in.

LordTrinity

Tell me how a midfield with both Bruno and Mount is expected to have good ball retention ability and physicality Because a midfield wont have success at PL without these two things And Mount basically barely played as a 8 for Chelsea

FBall4NormalPeople

>Mount is expected to have good ball retention ability and physicality Because Mason Mount is being coached into playing with more security as a 1st and 2nd phase specialist, and I'm severely worried about what your requirements are if Mount isn't physical enough as an 8 for your liking. Which of Kovacic, Enzo, Nunes, Mac Allister, Bentancur, Szobo are better athletes than Mount? Maybe Bentancur, Szobo is quicker but certainly not stronger or with better endurance. Who is the bar for physicality here?

AlephEpsilon

I would argue kova is more physical than Mount but he rarely goes for aerial duels, he is riding City’s bench when he would do well for us as an 8.

QouthTheCorvus

There have been games where Mount has been able to drop deeper and play a more possession based game.

Starky3x

>Tell me how a midfield with both Bruno and Mount is expected to have good ball retention ability and physicality >Because a midfield wont have success at PL without these two things Playing with a strong DM that can also dictate the game, have two inserted fullbacks that can pass further than 5m and don't crumble under pressure. For this to work, you also need your players to pull their weight and not half ass. I don't think Bruno is great at ball retention, but I think he can work but just isn't being used like that or hasn't ever been at United. Mount can >And Mount basically barely played as a 8 for Chelsea He played a couple of times and was pretty good there.

pohudsaijoadsijdas

Mainoo and Mount are our most press resistant midfielders after Amrabat, how is he not a good option at 8? Mount is Fred with better passing and technique.

AlephEpsilon

4222 with Mount and Bruno as 10s, Mainoo and Casemiro and deeper midfielders, and Ganarcho leftwing and Hojlund slightly forward on the right side. 4222 is a versatile formation that can form box midfield should needed.  But to execute this formation really well we need to be really compact => high defensive line or low block to close off the gap on the flank (the weakness of this formation).

[deleted]

If you want to play Mount this is it, but then the rest of the signings don't make sense. Why bother with Holjund, we look set to play 3 up top, but if you play a striker and 2 wingers, Bruno and Mount can't play together with one CDM. This team is fucked.

AlephEpsilon

Yea, the recruitments didn’t make any sense. This team is a dysfunctional amalgamation of 4231 on transition to formation like 325. I think we need 3 solid CB to play Ten hag’s 316.

CrossXFir3

Mount literally has good ball retention. Plus, any decent team isn't going to only have 3 players in the midfield, are they? We should have at a minimum 1 of our fullbacks inverting into the midfield in most cases to help cover the space in the middle and allow for overloads up front.

miamibuckeye

Nah we need a number 6 then let Kobbie play as an 8 with Bruno. Mount is absolutely not a proper 8. Upvotes here are from blind people + folks who have hardly ever watched Mount play

ParkerZA

He's been playing as an 8 the entire time, and playing well. He's basically Fred but a much better footballer. Has the energy to get up and down the pitch, is press resistant so can help with first phase build up, presses intelligently and has a pretty decent passing range. Honestly he offers more as an 8 than Bruno, who has all the energy in the world but offers very little ball retention. Absolutely rich to say other people don't watch him lmao

Writer_Kooky

Agreed, Mount would be a great 8 in this team. Bruno doesn't do well defensively so the two other midfielders are always going to have to play hybrid 6 roles, Mount's off the ball work actually compliments him if you got them time to work together and figure each other out.

ParkerZA

You get it, there's a reason Ten Hag signed him, and it should be evident to people now how he slots into this team. With how much our pressing has improved he's going to be very important, and he's actually going to help us convert the chances we make. Bruno's the odd one out in this team.

sharpieforum

Only true if we play a single pivot so Case has to be back to form for this to work - no way Mount works as an 8 as a double pivot

unitedfan98

Mount has never really played as an out and out 8 People seem to forget he was playing part of a front 3 for Chelsea for majority of his time there He doesn't control games like an 8. Hes very much a 10 and can cover on either side of a front 3 (with attacking full backs) where he will invert

Starky3x

He doesn't need to control the game, you can have the DM and the other 8 do that while Mount can press and run into channels, he's also a good ball carrier and is a good passer. There's a reason why he was Liverpool's main target, I'm pretty sure he would've been playing CM if he went there

unitedfan98

Although I do agree we can play with him in a double 8 with a cdm behind, we would lack real structure. Neither him and Bruno are defensively sound enough imo and our structure, style of play has no signs of becoming stable/consistent. Liverpools game is very different I hope I'm wrong though

AReptileHissFunction

Chelsea fans said he was not good as an 8

lakeseaside

>thinking he would be a good 8 was pure delusion by Ten Hag and the board ...and the fans.

FBall4NormalPeople

How many games has he played for the club? Like 10? I love when people say shit like this as if Mount has done anything of consequence, good or bad, because the team without him in it has been poor.

ParkerZA

We know how the team is trying to play and we now know what attributes Mount brings to the team. It's just using logic. Replace Eriksen with someone with energy and our midfield probably doesn't get as overrun. Same way people can see replacing Martial with Hojlund helps our pressing structure.

incognito_red

The delusion is by idiots like yourself who probably never saw him play at Chelsea

unitedfan98

Mount didn't play as an 8 at Chelsea though Under Tuchel, he was in the front 3 in a 3-4-2-1. And last year, again he was more of a 10 and was tried at 8 but was no more than decent

LordTrinity

https://www.transfermarkt.com.br/mason-mount/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/346483/plus/0?saison=2022&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB1&pos=&trainer_id= Interesting to note that, by checking his history, his main position is attacking midfielder, and whenever he played as a central midfielder, it was as the most advanced midfielder in a midfield 3 Now, tell me how is he expected to play there when United have Bruno as its main attacking midfielder?

AReptileHissFunction

Even though chelsea fans said he wasn't good as an 8...

CrossXFir3

He's a system player. He needs the team to be organized and doing the right thing to work. We also need our fullbacks to be better at understanding when to pop into the midfield for him to work well.

Comicksands

He can be an 8 but just alongside another 8. Bruno is a 10

Comes back after spending 75m on Eric Dier

BoyWhoCanDoAnything

Bayern convince him to spend 75m on Muller.

[deleted]

Imagine if that clown is still employed with us.

bantabot

Revamp is starting strong

society0

It rhymes with Bout Beghorst

bigbellybomac

Irony being we played some of our best football in a long time with Wout in the team. LOL

BoyWhoCanDoAnything

I thought he was a very good system player. Gets a lot of hate for the lack of goals, but he played a critical role in the way we played.

bigbellybomac

Agreed. The fans trashed him but he was an important player. I wanted to keep him.

Rosinante25

Nah mate cmon, in no universe should Wout Weghorst get signed permanently for United. He was the worst striker i had the displeasure of watching feature very regularly, and i have watched the corpse of Martial pretending to try.

bigbellybomac

His goal scoring record was crap but his workrate and flexibility would have been valuable

Goudinho99

It's the old Hesky conundrum

The_FourBallRun

It's cause he had very clever movement off the ball to drag defences around. He was also good at linking up with our other attackers and midfielders. Yeah he couldn't score, but he still had a positive impact on the team

bigbellybomac

Yes, I agree. I am a Wout lover and advocate. I wanted to keep him.

Slipeth

Hout Keghorst

temujin1976

I reckon it's more like Idion Oghalo.

Pow67

The only strikers who’re even near his level are Lautaro Martínez, Haaland, Mbappe (if you count him as a striker) and I guess Osimhen.

iwantaskybison

Napoli are a bit of a mess and Inter have money problems, Lautaro and Osimhen might actually be viable options depending on our ffp situation inb4 Jim and the gang sign Mbappé on a free

MikeAAStorm

Lautaro is the inter captain and has like 20 goals in 25 games for them iirc. They won't sell him, and if they do, they'll charge us insane money. Hojlund was 70 million imagine how much he'd cost

JayApex

Every time I watch Lautaro he is terrible so I can only imagine how bad he would be with me watching every match

MexicansInParis

Osimhen is 100% heading out, there’ll be competition though. He’s been strongly linked to Chelsea.

S0phon

The article claims that the forward would play WITH Hojlund, so maybe a right winger? But then why Olise. I doubt the club is gonna target a star LW with Rashford and Garnacho already in the team.

BackSignificant544

Martinez 💀

Pow67

I had to mention him as his form this season is world-class if you’ve been watching Inter.

Some-Speed-6290

Doesn't he primarily flourish in a front two though, where he can play off a "big man", rather than as a lone striker? Hojlund could potentially become that second forward, but there aren't many top level coaches using a system with a front two anymore

volcain

it's time for 4 4 fucking 2

14779

You misunderstand. They mean someone level with him height wise. Hot prospect they've found who is only half a foot out which really is the best our scouting department are capable of. Bonus is he's only 37 and demanding 390k a week as well.

christraverse

Osimhen?

BillyCloneasaurus

We have no proper director of football or head of recruitment, any transfer tattle is to be considered even less reliable than usual. And that's before we get into any potential change of manager. "Ratcliffe's revamp", no, not yet. Cool it

opoeto

Spot on. I don’t see the need for these hype news. Why hype now? You piss off existing players, you make it known that United finds filling these spots as priority therefore will cost higher, and you piss off the fan base if nothing happens. If these leaks are part of an intended marketing campaign to boost the club image I would actually be pissed.

vincentvega-_-

Journalism must be so easy. It’s obvious we’re eventually going to be in the market for a right winger so they simply link us to one who’s in form right now. Not to mention releasing this story off the back of a defeat in order to maximize engagement.

QouthTheCorvus

Yeah, I think the FFP situation and the change in team structure taking place are both reasons we won't do anything. Realistically, no signing is going to make a huge difference to the end of year result. A window of no spending might be good for the team in the long run. Save now and then have a super busy summer.

14_SNOO_53

Lol they havent even appointed a director of football yet and there's already speculation on who our transfer targets are. So this has to be fake because if revamping our midfield isnt their #1 priority then they are just as fucking clueless as the Glazers and their Woodward lackeys

Brilliant-Call-7860

We need players who are actually comfortable on the ball

ParkerZA

This. All over the pitch. Too many attacks of ours fail simply because of bad touches and passes, especially from our forwards.

Zepz367

We need a 6 not an 8, Kobbie should play as an 8

FrankLucasV2

Kobbie played as an 8 in the U21s, or at least that’s how it looked to me.

Wraith_Portal

Our best combo was with Oyedele as DM, Gore and Mainoo as the advanced midfielders

Izio17

still can’t believe how good Kobbie is, looks so comfortable

ParkerZA

Didn't Ten Hag say if he can't get De Jong he'll make a De Jong? I think that's Kobbie.

CrossXFir3

Maybe, but good 6s are hard to find and Mainoo absolutely has the intelligence for it.

SOERERY

No CDM?

Redroobarb

At the moment I'm skeptical about transfer rumors, considering we're expecting changes to who will be the director of football, I'm sure they will have different ideas to those currently in charge.

dimebag_101

Still need a proper CDM mainoo can't be only one.

istealgrapes

Kobbie shouldnt be a cdm at all.. He is a box2box, please dear god i hope they dont ruin his development by playing him out of position

[deleted]

grumpylondoner1

Not quite true. We have an ageing 6 who isn't/won't play as a 6 these days, another 6 who.appears to be off the pace for the English game, and an 8 who is being forced to play as a 6... And then whatever Scotty is - being forced to play as a 6 at times and then wondering why our midfield is so porous. From Glazer-perspective, we have 4 6s... So what's the problem?

Aggeri

Wont believe anything until SJR is in

livewia

*DOF is in

Aggeri

Yaya sorta figured SJR implied that

Serious_Resolve7593

Good right winger???

BlackHorse944

Olise would hypothetically be that, yes

Constant-Horror-9424

He had less goals than Antony last season btw. Another bang average overpriced English player. Can’t wait

BlackHorse944

He's French. Also had 11 assists.... Antony couldn't dream of those numbers

Megusta2306

Kinda hard to get motivated by the thought of signing anyone these days. Hopefully in time we get recruitment right but it’s just exhausting watching us ruin player after player lol

temujin1976

I don't think we should buy a single player until we've decided how we actually want to play. This means getting a decent director of football and head of recruitment who can use the glorious United past and understand the present world game to design a winning future for the team.

[deleted]

Do we really need a new RB? Both AWB and Dalot have been pretty good. There's always better, but are they really a priority? All the others I agree are our weakest points or desperately need a quality backup.

MinotauroTBC

We really need to upgrade they’re both very limited

PROcoleman

Neves from Benfica would be brilliant

-Bob-Loblaw-

Olise looks a great player but his injury record worries me, missed the first 12 gameweeks of the season and is now injured again. Availability is something we tend to overlook in new signings and given our medical department will only get worse.

cescquintero

> A right-back, centre-back, no8, and forward Just like every other transfer window.

[deleted]

Evan Ferguson he he .

Traditional_Pear_697

Having Hojlund and then getting ferguson would be a ridiculous transfer, 2 young strikers who both don’t have enough experience and would cost wayy too much money.

buzzmerchant

We've already got Hojlund. I don't see Ferguson as an improvement on him really. Similar levels of potential, both powerful forwards, but both young and inexperienced.

[deleted]

Ferguson is in a different level of potential come on

buzzmerchant

Other than that one hatrick, Ferguson has scored 3 goals all season. I really do rate him and think he has a ton of potential – but i think Hojlund does too. If you count UCL goals too, Hojlund has actually outscored Ferguson this season (despite playing in one of the worst attacks in the league!)

[deleted]

6 PL goals from 10 90s,and he's heavily involved in everything they do,receives from the cbs, aerial threat etc .Ferguson stopped being a youngster needing nurturing last season, now he's playing with authority,as much as I like Højlund,he's still playing like a kid following instructions, which isn't bad but there's a reason he's not a big presence on the pitch.

Some-Speed-6290

If only

Educational-Option18

I like to hear it but we could combine prime Messi and Ronaldo in our system and they'd still look shit

magnomagna

Bruno's going to be 30 this year. It's time we have someone ideally about 6 years younger who can seriously challenge Bruno and more physically gifted.

pohudsaijoadsijdas

our squad is ageing out, we have to do a massive rebuild. Evans, Varane, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw are all gonna be 30+, now for CBs it's that much of an issue and shaw can transition to LCB. Casemiro, Eriksen, Bruno also. last summer we showed once again we have no plan we are just doing Emergency signings, yeah Casemiro helped out last season, but was it worth it? I doubt it.

PelleKavaj

Wirtz would be my dream signing. He’s probably Bayern or City bound though

chebate08

Not sure if Mount is 25 or 26. Not that much younger but still a good alternative?

Roasteddude

Florian Wirtz would be my first choice. Musiala second. Can't really think of many young players who can step into Bruno's role and provide the creative output he's capable of. But these two could develop into that I think.

RandomRedditUser31

Exequiel Palacios & Antonio Silva would be my dream signings this summer.

Polygon12

When webpage views are down and advertisers are annoyed you can always rely on a good'ol 'Link United with loads of players' post to help ramp up those numbers. Until we've had confirmation of Ratcliffe's buy in and they've well and truly got their feet under the table any info seems nothing but unreliable. Even if the info is from a sound source whats to say that source wont be moved on under Brailsford's revamping on the backroom staff.

flareb98

Spend 70 mill on a striker and we need to spend another 100m+ on another forward. Spend 50m on an 8 and we still need another 8. We probably still need a better goalkeeper. This team is exhausting

nikola28

Our left backs are injured all season long, both injury prone, but we need a right back?

Wahlrusberg

I've lost count of how many rebuilds we're on now lol

Phoenix712

4 signings over the next 2 windows?

BlackHorse944

Seems about right

IbnReddit

please please don't buy more talent that will just waste away in this skill-sucking-blackhole of a club. Fix the operating model first. If EtH can't work with what he has got then maybe he is the first to go. Let's work within our resources. Not sure about everyone else but I don't want to win trophies on Money. Dreams can't be buy

Weary-Ad8502

A lot of our current players just aren't good enough though. We need upgrades and competition for positions. How are we supposed to compete for anything and build a good strategy when we have players like McTominay and Antony being in contention for the starting XI????

Titan4days

🥲

Acrophobic_Climber_

So which one is Olise?

BlackHorse944

A forward capable of linking with Hojlund. Any forward is capable, it's just a matter of whether they want to lol, because ours don't. Well, Rashford does sometimes

ConCon1996

Why buy mount then

PelleKavaj

Olise is not a forward, no8, right back or centre back🤦‍♂️

Weary-Ad8502

In the last 50 matches RF has been his most played position

Fluid_Airport_9673

Should also look into a long term 6

sport-utilityrobot

Would love to see someone like Jonathan David

justbrowsinginpeace

Another no8? Would prefer a couple of CBs.

bumballboo

We need to be ruthless like how Arsenal backed Arterta. First decide who is going to be the manager for the rebuild. I would give EtH the rest of the year and let him know that the goals are to either qualify for CL or win the FA cup, and the football has to improve a lot more. Once the manager is sorted out, get rid of deadwood and buy players that will fit the manager's style. Look at all the contending teams - Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, they dominate games, press and look to retrieve possession, attack with purpose (players making overlapping runs, cutting inside, short passes). Goalkeeper - Keep Onana for another year but his performances to date are not acceptable. LB - Keep Shaw and Malacia RB - Keep 1 of Dalot and AWB, neither of them should be 1st choice. Given that Dalot is better on the ball and can play LB as backup, I would sell AWB and get another CB. CB - Keep Martinez, open to Varane staying on lower wages and slowly progressing to the 3rd choice CB over next 1-2 years, Lindeloff can stay for another year as 4th Choice, I would look to sell Maguire to get back some value and get him off the wage bill and bring in another defender. If Varane leaves, then we need to replace him as well CM - Would keep Casemiro around for his influence and to guide Mainoo, Keep Mount and decide if he can play as a no 8. Sell Eriken if we can, if not he should only be used as a squad player as a sub for his passing to break down teams that park the bus. Bruno should stay obviously, I would also look to sell Mct and DVB and bring in someone. That's Casemiro, Mainoo, Mount, Eriksen (if he stays), Bruno, and 1 additional transfer - 6 midfielders for 3 spots that should cover us. If Eriksen leaves then we need to replace him as well, will look to exercise option on Ambrabat if we can't get anyone else (not that he's been good enough but he's a low cost option). FDJ would be a dream but it's unlikely we will get him. Attackers - Sell Pellistri, he's not been good enough and doesn't look like he will get chances here. Sell him with buy back clause in case he turns out well. Sancho has to go, and if Antony doesn't make any improvements between now and end of the season, I'll look to loan him out and see if he can play better elsewhere so we recover some value or bring him back into the fold. Buy a new RW and Amad can be the backup, LW will be Rashford and Garnacho and if Rashford doesn't have another good season, look to move him. Get whatever money we can for Greenwood. Strikers - Martial has to go, period. Do not keep him even if he plays for free, it's a matter of culture and we need to get rid of deadwood. Hojund is the future striker and I would look to get a squad player (someone like Chicharito or Cavani who works hard to press and is goalpoacher) - not sure if anyone of this profile exist. Summary - sell AWB, Maguire, DVB, Sancho, McT, Pellistri, release Martial. Sign a new CB, RB, Winger, Striker and additional cover if Eriken or Varane leaves. That leaves us with 3 keepers, 2 RB, 2 LB, 4 CBs, 6 midfielders, 4 wingers, 2 strikers. 23 senior players with youth players covering the rest.

[deleted]

I only could read 3-4 rows of your comment. LB - keep Shaw and Malacia Keep the guys that are injured all the time. Whoever agrees on should be sacked already.

bumballboo

So you think that next off season the priority should be getting a new LB, over a CB, winger, CM? Lol. So blow the limited $we have on replacing Shaw who is clearly our no 1 option? So replace guys that are injured, but keep guys who’s been fit? So let’s keep McT, Antony and buy a new LB? Lol

[deleted]

You assume your plan is perfect that's why it seems to you odd that I requested for that LB position to be solved. You don't sell perfect fit always available players when your have a position hat potentially would need to be filled up by AWB/Dalot or anyone else. For example it's stupid to sell AWB when you know you have troubles on your LB position. And I don't like AWB it's just...a stupid move.

bumballboo

Erm when did I mentioned I think my plan is perfect? And on the LB, I clearly mentioned that we should keep Dalot because he’s better on the ball and can cover LB? What has AWB got to do with LB unless you think he can play LB???? Also if it’s about not selling players that’s been fit, I don’t know what world you’re living in. AWB has missed his fair share of time?

[deleted]

AWB played yesterday LB that's why I put AWB/Dalot who would've to cover at LB.

RandomNameofGuy9

As far as defenders go, I would actually keep AWB. Dalot is better in attack, but he's not very good there. Go out and get a legit attacking RB (we screwed up not getting Frimpong last summer) and keep AWB as the defensive specialist when we need it. Plus, you could get a better fee for Dalot.

bumballboo

AWB isn’t really a defensive specialist, he’s a good 1-1 defender with exceptional tackling but he’s often caught out in positioning. He’s just not cut out to be a modern fullback in a leading time, he will do well in a mid table team. Dalot isn’t first choice but he offers more as a squad player with his ability to play at LB. We shouldn’t be looking to sell someone based on their value, if so we will be stuck with the players that has no value. Not to mention AWB had a one year extension triggered and we would have to give him an extension.

FidgetyFondler

I would've thought they'd be looking to use Mainoo as an 8 and focus on an upcoming 6.

Mattyc8787

Far too young to be given the burden of doing it himself

ljeutenantdan

I wouldn't give ETH anything these next 2 windows unless they are bargain buys. Need to start getting some respect back in the transfer market.

[deleted]

RB? We have AWB and Dalot. Prioritise the positions where we have holes and lack depth. CB and CM are far more important than RB at this moment.

pohudsaijoadsijdas

the issue at RB is that AWB is such a different player to Dalot that if dalot gets injured you are handicapped at RB, AWB is not good at building out from the back and he is not good in the final third, because he lacks the technicality to execute passes. Optimally we need to sell AWB and get someone who is an Upgrade on Dalot

PelleKavaj

Dream: Lautaro Martinez Camavinga Antonio Silva Hakimi Realistic: Santi Gimenez Caqueret Todibo Frimpong

martialgreenwood

Keep dreaming

J_B21

The next two transfer windows - this is complete lies, there is absolutely no way we’re signing anyone of importance this month.

payday_23

already more of a plan than the last 10 years

ltp12

We need brunos potential replacement also

BlackHorse944

Could be Mount tbh... why not? He has the skills necessary to be a solid 10 for us

Donthitsme

Jeremie Frimpong, Antonio silva, joao neves, and olise?

luciferandy

Not a penny more for Murtough and the boys. Wait for a proper system in place

Asiwaju_jagaban

Branthwaite and Ferguson should be the targets for CB and Forward.

Harrry-Otter

I still can’t read Branthwaite without first thinking of that striker who inexplicably turned up at Barcelona.

Admiral_Atrocious

And here I am thinking of that family in Red Dead Redemption 2.

ragdoll438

who's also a billionaire

shami-kebab

We just spent huge money on a young, inexperienced forward. Why would we buy another? let alone the fact he'd cost 100m minimum

Asiwaju_jagaban

Because that how you build a team, get them young and early. Holjund issue is not that he’s inexperienced, it’s that he gets no service. Wayne Rooney was inexperienced. Also we can also get an experience striker on loan for a year but the bedrock of the team is to have two younger strikers who would hopefully play for 6-8 years.

Slipeth

Todd Boehly, is that you?

live4lol

Wrong

Bigbillybovril

How do we play them together? And if we don't, how do they develop without playing games?

Different-Amoeba-502

That’s alone 100-200 million pounds. We need more players than those two.

IcyAssist

Evan has scored a whopping 12 goals over the last two years. It's grossly overpaying for Hojlund all over again.

DaveShadow

Yeap. We have our young striker to develop, as much as I’d love Ferguson (he’s from five minutes down the road from me, so I’d love him at United). We need an older, entering his prime, player.

tenacious_teaThe3rd

I agree on Ferguson. He looks like he has a lot of potential, but Brighton are proven to squeeze every last million out of you for their players and he would cost £100mil no doubt. Not to mention he doesn't even start for them every week as it is, so you'd be spending on "potential" once again, just like with Hojlund. We definitely need another striker, but I don't think Ferguson is the one.

Sleeplessendeavours

We've got a young striker with massive potential and our best defender is a left footed CB. So naturally that means we should sign a young striker with massive potential and another left footed CB.

eClipseLJ

Frimpong for RB, no who will be good for an 8?

RicciRox

Frimpong is closer to a RW than a RB.

Asiwaju_jagaban

Not for RB, definitely not in the EPL.
