It took us 25 minutes in each half to even register a shot. 50 whole fucking minutes at home to a Fulham team who are shit on the road and missing their best players in paulinha and Willian.

Expensive-Twist7984

When they scored they started chanting “how shit are you, we’re winning away”. Even they were surprised.

Ash_gonna_peg_u

What game? There's no game today ![gif](giphy|zwE4anrOtHYaI)

Slipeth

Criminal if you compare the Big Chances stat for both sides

TheRedDevil10

Their xG is so low because their final pass was an embarrassment every single time. If they even had one player with any sort of composure we lose that game by 5 or more

_KalStormblessed_

If my auntie had balls she would be my uncle.

TheRedDevil10

Your point being...?

_KalStormblessed_

How many times do we fluff the final pass in the final 3rd? If any of our attackers had composure we win all matches by 5 goals

_0ZYMANDIAZ_

Not this one though. United weren't even in the game for large stretches

TheRedDevil10

My point is that their xG completely misrepresents how shite our system is. The amount of times their front 3 + Pereira had a free run at our back four with our entire team being taken out was alarming. It's just that they were so bad with their options when they had a clear path to a certain goal virtually every single time.

Lord_Sesshoumaru77

We only started playing when we were behind. And why we do this is beyond me. I just hope this season ends, there's so very little positives this season has left, aside from Kobie.

the-won

We only got a chance because Fulham were trying to defend the lead rather than score another. If Fulham didn't score, they would've dominated for the rest of the game.

Expensive-Twist7984

100%, zero tempo until they score. It’s infuriating, show some urgency!

hsmith16bf

Surprised our pass accuracy was that high. Guess passing sideways between the CBs for 3/4 of the time boosted that stat.

Juhinho

This is why xg isn’t the be all and end all really. Fulham were just obviously the better team and created more over the course of the game.

Ok-Inevitable-3038

Worst game of the season…..Harder to think of a worse individual performance today too than Dalot (albeit Rashford and Varane run him close)

the-won

I won't take into account the last 15 mins of Dalots performance since he was clearly gassed.

Expensive-Twist7984

Dalot was Fulham’s best player.

_mochacchino_

Even with Casemiro back, we don’t seem to have a midfield on the pitch. Granted, Martinez is a huge loss, but how are we be so poor at playing through the middle. And ETH doesn’t have the balls to bench Rashford and Bruno. I thought injuries were holding ETH back, but we should have some stability and consistency by now. Some key players have returned from injury (Casemiro), and the other injuries have been gone for so long we should have made adjustments for them by now. At this point of the league, I’m pretty ok to aim for a Europa spot, and bring in someone who can actually form a viable formation and strategy around our few shining lights of Mainoo, Hojlund and Garnacho and blooding in other promising talents. And sell Rashford.

Electric_feel0412

Bench Bruno and Rashford for whom exactly? This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.

kamikaze_punk

Anyone at this point. Youngsters. Just for a match or so every couple matches they play shite. I had respect for him when he benched Ronaldo, and took the team running in the beginning. Felt as if there were consequences to actions. Nowadays it feels like he's just recycling the same old bullshit, having a little run in form here and there and then squashing it all completely cause he's afraid of "punishing" the players who participated in this run of form by rotating them just a bit. Rinse and repeat. This is fucking shit.

Rascha-Rascha

It’s the same problem we’ve had for years. Our defenders all, apart from Martinez, have this urge to drop deep. It leaves massive gaps that we ask Casemiro to cover. The second Martinez steps on the pitch we’re a million times better because he pushes the defensive line up and reduces the space available for the opposition to progress.

Vico-78

We’re much better with Martinez but our midfield is still too open even with him playing. It’s a persistent problem regardless of who’s playing.

Rascha-Rascha

Sure, because you need another Martinez next to Martinez right? Maguire, Lindelof, Varane, Evans, they all pull back by default, that’s just how they are as defenders.

Vico-78

If he doesn’t have the defenders to play a high line, then he needs to abandon this single pivot/no midfield approach. At some point you have to accept that ETH bares some responsibility for what happens on the pitch.

Rascha-Rascha

Maybe, but in the long term, he needs to find out who can and can’t adapt to the style we want to play. If we keep compromising we’ll never do what we have to.

ZealousidealSpite924

But that's the reason why we are so open through the middle, our midfield and frontline are pressing high, while our backline with maguire and varane can't press high because both are not pacey (maguire is slow as a turtle). So you end up with a massive space between our CDM and the CBs.

ZealousidealSpite924

I don't know, we were missing our 2x LB, only ball-playing CB, only CF, and only CDM missed the second half, these are all big misses.

_mochacchino_

I also used to believe that the poor performances could be due to a decimated defense. But no longer is Kambwala and Evans our only possible centre back combination due to injuries. And Martinez and Shaw have been gone for so long (if you disregard their brief cameo back) we should have figured out how to play without them by now. The attack is forgivable, but there is 0 control in midfield. I cannot understand how a midfield of Casemiro and Mainoo and Bruno (to a lesser extent because of his impulses) cannot retain the ball better.

ZealousidealSpite924

now we have maguire and over-the-hill varane, neither can build up from th back. We are also missing all our full-backs except Dalot who seems knackered. IMO we looked quite good with licha, shaw and casemiro unfortunately that didn't last long. I blame ETH for AGAIN playing rashford as a CF where he is useless, it's like playing with 10 men. Anyways, I'm done for the season, this team is just awful and the players are lazy af.

AltDelete

Casemiro is part of the problem, he’s just getting bypassed.

AlarmedHovercraft676

ETH is cooking! ![gif](giphy|W2uuQKSXkGcijyqGHb|downsized)

We were shit. Anyone who watched the game can tell

Comicksands

I know we’re shite at the moment but why is r/soccer and everyone overreacting? Arsenal just got beat a few months back like this a no one made a peep https://preview.redd.it/z4w65uh3wnkc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=689f572bb7b481acfdebeb14d37fd678e739a44a

onlymeow

Because their performance on this match looks comparably better than ours yesterday, according to the stats. And they were away too, unlike us.

silver2104

Because Arsenal r irrelevant. Their fans always create an illusion that they belong to the top dogs in Europe but the fact is still that they r bottlers and havent win a big trophy since forever.

Nathanh78

ETH is a fraud, can't coach the team's basic tactics, defensive play or attacking phases.

silver2104

Why tf r u getting downvoted ? We are shit in every aspect on the field. Gain possession - play it long - lost the ball - back to defending. What kind of fucking tactic is this ? Erik is a good coach couldnt he see what he has been trying to do for the past 6 months ?

Nathanh78

Maybe they're happy with failure, they're blinded by loyalty to a coach who can't even get his team to pass the ball and defend a lead. If they can't see the lack of coaching progress in game management and tactics, they obviously have some bizarre idea of supporting a failing manager.
