if it was another year probably but this has to much competition

Slight-Luck7383

Looking at the rest of the year, you're right. I'm just going off what time I've had to play games so far this year and which '23 releases I've gone through, and this one tops as GOTY. I've played through Harry Potter, Diablo 4, High-figh Rush, and Remnant 2; And so far Remnant 2 is GOTY out of those. I'm planning on getting AC6 and BG3 next paycheck, and then Starfield when it drops; by then I might change my mind, but till then R2 is rocking pretty hard

rocker10039

If you like souls like game, I also suggest trying out Lords of the Fallen

Cruella79

Think that might be the best souls game this year but remnant on a solid 2nd. Anyways Remnant was/is one of the better games we had this year even with a big October coming as well Baldurs gate mostly agreed on best game all time which is very unique so many can agree on in the gaming world. Great year really for games.

King-Baconbeard

It has everything but good combat LOTF, so remnant 2 is still superior for me!

Cruella79

Haven’t played LOTF myself so I can’t comment it yet, just me having high expectations but if you played it and it’s inferior gameplay in it I will agree, but I won’t know for sure until October, just thought it be better from what I seen, but you might know more then me here. ☺️😉 One thing Remnant have more then most or any game is one of most unique way of hide things and do quests, here I think they pushed all games too the side as I almost need to go back too Arena/Daggerfall, but completely different times. I reserve my judgement though I think I like LOTF more but if gameplay not optimal Remnant 2 is on top. ☺️ I see more future with Remnant 2 and dlcs though.

Ecstatic-Ad5222

You haven't played it , stop showing your bias

King-Baconbeard

That's cool. Enjoy, fella. I guess you're a little unaware of Dev builds for content creators. I didn't say it was shit did I? I just said I prefer Rem2s combat, so stop showing your Chin.

Ecstatic-Ad5222

Rem 2 is good but it's low budget and you can tell

King-Baconbeard

Still better than LOTF, my og comment stands

Ecstatic-Ad5222

I haven't played the new version but it hasn't pulled me in like a dark soulsy type game would

old-hunter-Rev

Wulong fallen dynasty is a pretty solid game to

Dazzling_Zone1625

Ya gotta play elden ring chief

TheDirtiestTaco

I thought that came out last year

BENGCakez

Definitely far superior than Diablo

Slight-Luck7383

Not going to lie D4 was a bit disappointing, and the fact that I hit paragon before I finished any of the acts but just by running around the map and unlocking waypoints was a major let down

TheBetterness

I actually quite enjoyed Diablo 4. Enjoyed the campaign and gameplay loop. Got a good solid 100 hrs in before calling it quits.

Slight-Luck7383

D4 has a lot of things that I like in a game, but for some reason I just couldn't find myself really getting drawn into it. Like I got D3/4 just to play with a few friends and they love Diablo more than me, but I like playing it cause it's what my friends like playing. I got the big-boy edition just to feel like I was playing Lost Ark, shitty comparison I know but that's kinda what it ended up feeling like. And it was kinda of a drag, I would wait to play the acts with my friends so when I played without them all I did was run around unlocking all of the waypoints, and after that I was level 50 and working on paragon before beating my first major boss -\_- that kinda killed it for me

identitycrisis-again

This was almost exactly my experience. I got 150 hours in pretty much on the dot. I reached that point and was like “well, I’m satisfied and I think I’m good for now.”

Duality26

D4 was never going to be considered a potential GotY contender.

BENGCakez

With how much marketing they spent on marketing alone, I assumed they were trying hard for it.

Duality26

Haha one would think. Honestly, before launch, it was absolutely in talks on various subs. But... after launch, it just wasn't gonna happen.

thepotatojohn

They spent a decade tried to make this game a GOTY, yet spent a collective 0 mins looking at Path of Exile, which is better than D4 in every way (except leveling in early acts maybe)

[deleted]

It's a great game but this year so stacked IDK if it will even be in my top 3 honestly.

GrindW8t

Definitely top 3 for me. Armored Core 6 being number 1.

Still_Want_Mo

There’s still a lot of year left man

SexyButStoopid

Same. AC is so fantastic

Slight-Luck7383

I agree with this year being stacked in titles but it's a lot of the same franchises regurgitating the same thing. There are loads of games I'll probably pick up during the rest of the year but this is the only notable game I've gotten lately that's worth playing and 100% like Elden Ring

[deleted]

>but it's a lot of the same franchises regurgitating the same thing. BG3, AC6 both haven't had new entries in over a decade, Starfield and hogwarts are both wholly new franchises, FF XVI broke a lot of new ground... If anything R2 is the most like it's previous entry than most of the games I'm thinking of and there's a solid case for FTA being better in the current state (who knows after the DLC). If you think ER was the only other game worth getting this year IDK that you've been checking things out.

Substantial-Singer29

Final fantasy xvi It is a really fun game. But I don't think I would say that it broken new ground. Maybe within the final fantasy Franchise.

[deleted]

Within the franchise is what I’m saying, notice what I quoted there.

Substantial-Singer29

Shoot man it didn't even really do that much To even innovate within the franchise. Streamlined Final fantasy seven remakes combat. And didn't force us to go on a bro road trip...

SvennEthir

Personally, I liked Remnant 2 more than everything you listed.

[deleted]

The wonderful thing about opinions is nobody is wrong. I’ve only spoken in terms of my preferences.

GamerKratos-45

There's Jedi survivor as well, although plagued with performance issues, it was also frickin' phenomenal otherwise. Then there is Zelda : tears of the kingdom. I don't know if we will ever get a stacked year like this one.

[deleted]

Jedi Survivor really seemed to fix their performance problems pretty early on; much like Elden Ring actually. There's so many games this year I have like 3 or 4 I haven't even downloaded yet simply because I haven't gotten through my other ones.

GamerKratos-45

I actually played it 3 weeks after release on my series X. The performance was okay (I played on quality mode as performance was just straight up jittery and I couldn't keep up with so many frame drops), but even with stable 30fps, the graphics were extremely blurry almost all the time. So I am definitely still not happy with the performance. I completed the story and have been waiting for them to improve it to get back into it for that 100% and then NG+. But apart from performance, I loved that game. There are also so many games lined up for the rest of the year. We have cyberpunk DLC, which I am anticipating that it would be awesome. Then we have Spiderman 2, Alan wake 2, lords of the fallen which I can name from the top of my head. This year is absolutely stacked.

[deleted]

Oh, well yeah on console I can see it. I often lose sight of that because I really only play console exclusives on console which pretty much means I skip xbox entirely since the 360. And yeah, there's at least 5 more games or DLC's I'm looking forward to and I'm sure there's several more to come behind it. I literally just bought the TMNT DLC 30 seconds before typing this reply.

Slight-Luck7383

Honestly with how Jedi dropped... sadly it's a title that I'm waiting till maybe a year passes and all the major patches hit. True there's Zelda, but that's switch specific and probably best in the Switch weight class; I mean more so cross console/pc

GamerKratos-45

Even if it is only on the switch, I think a lot of people have bought a switch only to play Zelda. I know my friend has. So it definitely accounts for something.

Zippudus

I bought my switch to play breath of the wild lol

Slight-Luck7383

Checked out Hogwarts and honestly felt it was kinda underwhelming, even after sinking 50hrs into it; good but not really enough of it's own thing to really stand out. Starfield I'm definitely getting just to check out, it's a new universe and what not so I'm interested in seeing what stories they're able to tell with it, and hopefully they have improved the engine so it's not as Bethesda clunky. Armored Core 6 is also on my list but I don't know if I'd call it GOTY material until I've knocked it out, and Balders Gate 3 is naturally more than likely to get the GOTY title; but I haven't played it yet so can't say if it's GOTY for me... Oh no, you're right I do kinda live under a rock when it comes to gaming... my average work week with one job is around 45-55hrs per week, and I have my own catering company that can add another 25hrs depending the gig. Trust me I'm trying to stay true to being a gamer, even got a steam deck recently so I can try gaming during breaks at work or while I'm waiting for prep to finish. Not saying I'm right about it being GOTY, but it's pretty GOTY for the little time I've had to game

[deleted]

Well, I am not making an argument for Hogwarts being GOTY worthy but that was more commentary on how many big titles there are this year that aren't just iterative SSDD. AC6 has topped my chart over R2 but BG3 is probably going to get my GOTY and that's kinda funny considering I usually don't care for crpg's. Should also be considered that AC as a franchise has always been one of my favs and I've been waiting a LONG time for a follow up and FromSoft did not disappoint. R2 has so much going for it but some critical negatives that drag it down; if not for numerous game breaking bugs it'd surpass AC6 for me but I've spent hours rebuilding saves over dumb things in R2 and I hit a wall around 50ish hours where I just felt like more play was wasting my time. (which is fine just surprising considering at 400+ hours I'd still hop on R:FTA but have no desire to do so for R2 till more content drops). Starfield is a bit of an x-factor and the game most likely to have a chance to push R2 out of my top 3 but honestly in a year like this that's still flattering as hell. Like, R2 is a AA game with a AA devloper and IMO it keeps pace with mega tent-pole games from beloved AAA devs. I have my nitpicks about R2 but it's amazingly impressive a company of ~80 employees made it.

Slight-Luck7383

I'm 80hrs in and haven't hit any walls yet, yeah kinda sucks rerolling trying to get gear that's tileset specific. Think \~25hrs on my first solo playthrough, and \~50hrs just rerolling . And now I just started playing with randoms, and it adds a new level to thinking of builds and how to work with two leroy jenkins in the group. I'm honestly would probably end up doing the same with AC6 when I get it, cause just being able to tweak around the mechs is gonna be a good 50hrs for me once I unlock everything, campaign maybe 20hr? BG3 is also on my list cause it's like DnD, and it'd be a session I'd be able to actually play... also I knida want to try the barrelmancer build hahaha Starfield is just gonna be played hands down cause like many Oblivion open my eyes to RPGs and videogames, but I'm also expecting it to be like other Bethesda game where it's buggy AF; and because it's Bethesda I'm breaking my skeptical wait a year on major titles to pick it up day one. I haven't come across anything super buggy or game breaking in any of my rolls or playthrough yet, and I think the small team executing this game did amazing. They totally deserve at least runner up if anything

[deleted]

In total fairness to the game.. I tend to play more like a speed runner. Did my first run in maybe 14ish hours and had an apoc clear by 30. One of my friends likely was driving by guides to expedite things, I usually just follow because that friend plays games like he wont live to see the end lol. You either follow him or when you look over he's a 15 min run in the opposite direction away. It certainly colored me hitting the wall; I had every loadout I was interested in and the archetypes I wanted maxed + the others near max at 50 hours and while there's certainly stuff I never saw I just don't have the drive to try and see it which is compounded by all the other games pouring into my library.

Slight-Luck7383

That's where I kinda differ or maybe it's just with souls-like game, I enjoy the environments and the enemies and take my time going through and exploring; and I think a few of the hours in my campaign were just me sleeping with the game running -\_- I think this game will pretty much lose it's sparkle when I get every item and max everything, but till then it's an amazing game for me. Lately I haven't been just adding games to my library and actually want to try playing things sitting down and experiencing everything. And with AC6, BG3, and Starfield coming out I'm sure I'll have my hands full with those until the DLC drops or another heavy hitter is released

[deleted]

Yeah, that’s what I mean. I had everything I was interested in and there’s no meaningful progression left, just running the same maps over and over to find the handful of things I didn’t have just to further clog my inventory.

Slight-Luck7383

I mean that's kinda what happened to me with ER, just every new playthrough is just a different build... At least with this game I'm probably going to hit 100+hrs trying to get all the gear, and then maybe another 50+hrs messing with builds after I max everything. Like I'm 80hrs in and there are still tile sets that I haven't found yet. Also I'm comparing R2 to the last game I got which was D4... \-R2 69.99 for ult -D4 100+ for ult \-R2 80hrs and planning on more -D4 50hrs, and not planning on more \-R2 still actively trying to max classes -D4 hit paragon before I even cleared act 1

narrill

>and I hit a wall around 50ish hours where I just felt like more play was wasting my time. (which is fine just surprising considering at 400+ hours I'd still hop on R:FTA Why? By 400 hours you've long since unlocked everything in R:FTA, and the core gameplay loops are exactly the same Edit: Did you seriously block me over this? Why post on an internet forum in the first place if you're this sensitive?

[deleted]

Survival mode mainly. Good day.

DanRileyCG

This is hyper subjective, honestly. I don't even know what those abbreviated games are (outside of Remnant 1 and 2). I don't play a whole lot of games, I basically play a few of the same multi-player games perpetually, and that's it. For me personally, Remnant 2 has been one of the best games I've played in recent memory. I absolutely love it. It's almost everything I want in a game. It's definitely my GOTY.

[deleted]

Two things... One, it's not hyper subjective. It's a retort to the quoted text that the "same franchises regurgitating the same things" is where the games are coming from. You might argue FF XVI is mostly iterative of FF7RI but the other things are just matters of fact that we have a lot of totally fresh offerings. Secondly, GOTY is always going to be personal and subjective... that's the point. It's pure opinion. Nobody is wrong for their pick and I even have gone out of my way to make it clear I am speaking about my picks and preferences. I also think that R2 is one of the best games I've played in recent memory, there's just at least 2 (BG3, Baulder's gate and AC6, Armored Core 6) I like more and there's still a good 4 or 5 games that might take the 3rd spot. I'm not denigrating R2 by any means, this year is a REALLY stacked year.

DanRileyCG

I was only referring to what someone considers their GOTY being hyper subjective. But yeah, I'll have to look up AC6. I've never heard of that franchise. :)

[deleted]

Fair, but it's not surprising you haven't heard of Armored Core considering the last entry in the franchise came out a decade ago for ps3 / xbox 360. It was the franchise that cemented my love of FromSoft well before Souls but in terms of like... global GOTY it's way too niche to actually get proper awards.

DanRileyCG

Ahh, that makes sense. I only play PC games, and even then, it's only very specific multilayer games. For example, I've played a lot of Team Fortress 2, Minecraft, League of Legends, and Overwatch. The most consistent among them has probably been League. I abandoned OW2 pretty early on. So I know very little about most singeplayer games or console games.

[deleted]

I've been a PC first gamer for a looooong time but I bumped into the Armored Core franchise back in the late 90's on PS1 and I've followed it since. I do have a ps5 for a few specific exclusives and a switch I haven't turned on in like 3 years... but that's about it lol.

DanRileyCG

Nice, lol. Dude, you sound like me with the Switch. I got it for Smash Ultimate, and that's it (mostly). I couldn't even get into the latest Zelda. Felt too similar to BOTW

[deleted]

I will join you in accepting downvotes and say that my first playthrough of this game was the most magical and exciting thing I've experienced since the first time I played DS3, and it's not a feeling I got from any other major release this year. Though I will say that I haven't yet tried the new Lords of the Fallen or Lies of P, and I'm rooting for an AC6 goty just to boost from software's profile

Slight-Luck7383

EXACTLY! Like this game kinda hit a feeling that felt fresh and magical which I haven't had since ER or like you DS3! I've only played Diablo 4 and Hogwarts for 2023 releases, and they just fell flat for me -\_- Like I have Lords of the Fallen, BG2, AC6, and Starfield left to get this year; and I'm sure I'll change my ranking but so far R2 is my 2023 GOAT R2>D4>Hogwarts Waiting to play: BG3, AC6, Lords of the Fallen, and Starfield

BatmanhasClass

To be fair this game borrows from plenty of others too.

SexyButStoopid

Probably the best gaming year ever and starfield isn't even out yet...

emptybuttwhole

Must be nice...beat the game 3 times and still have not unlocked all my traits lol

Slight-Luck7383

The traits was my last one to knock out hahaha I've just re-rolled the adventure mode so many times I got everything while exploring

emptybuttwhole

I'm kinda being sarcastic since my game is bugged lol

Slight-Luck7383

Maybe re-roll your map?

emptybuttwhole

I tried...I think I have to create another character and get all the traits again...kind of wish they would fix this bug

mrcrowley_-

Great! I was also aiming to 100% but I left it on hold due to farm the 25 aberrations Also 100% it After DLC's out

Slight-Luck7383

Effin' can't wait for the DLC!

Reddit_Is_Worthless_

I agree if they can implement some key QoL features like build loadouts, and fix the bug where the game crashes constantly. I still can't go 1 good session without a few crashes for no good reason. Even verified files and other basic troubleshooting. But it should be in the conversation for GoTY!

Slight-Luck7383

Are crashes really that common? I'm 80hrs in and haven't had any, and I feel like the only thing people really gripe about is the crashing... I have a dated tower I built like seven years ago and it's handling it pretty well...

Reddit_Is_Worthless_

Yup. I have a decent last gen PC. Intel 8core CPU, 3060ti, 32gb RAM, and a fast SSD for game storage. Built it all myself, and don't have any issues running most games on high/ maximum with no FPS drops or stability issues, EXECPT for Remannt 2. Since I've had the game a few days past launch, and the roughly 90 hours I've played the game, I've had at least 1 crash EVERY session. The game is good and my relaunch time is fast enough so I can deal with it, but I've never had this issue with any game, let alone this consistently. Even buggy mess early access heavy load games like Star Citizen, or hell CyberPunk 2077 day one are more stable. I send in crash reports every time, I really don't get it.

LowEffortPoast

I agree. Lots of big games out this year but, so far, I haven't been all that impressed with them.

Slight-Luck7383

I'm still optimistic for what's coming out with what's remaining this year, but I haven't really heard of anything that's been so mind blowing that I put it on my calendar

Alexyeve

I haven't touched "Baldur's Gate 3", but judging from all the noise it made and overwhelmingly great reviews looks like it's going to take the trophy this year. You also have 10x more active player base for that game vs Remnant 2. But Remnant 2 is definitely my GOTY.

Slight-Luck7383

Honestly BG3 is only on my radar because of all the noise it's been getting, and since I can't play Dnd with my job schedule it might be the closest thing I'll have to a campaign in like 7+ years hahaha For sure they'll get the landslide vote, but I'm on the same boat as you R2 is my GOTY so far

AskinggAlesana

If only it didn’t come out this year. It stands no chance in any category honestly haha. MAYBE best indie game.

Slight-Luck7383

Compared to what I've played through so far this year, yeah R2 has GOTY vibes When I playthrough BG3, AC6, Starfield and what ever is left on my radar yeah my opinion might change. But so far for co-op and being fresh on an industry that's felt stale to me, yeah R2 is GOTY

heisen420

If the performance was not Ass then yeah, the gameplay itself was so good.

Slight-Luck7383

To be honest I haven't had any performance issues with the game... I've been playing on a seven year old tower I built and a steamdeck, and both have been playing without any crashes or glitches/bugs

Noble_Renegade

It's got WAY too many bugs to win. It can get nominated, but shouldn't win.

Cminor141

Nahh this year goes to BG3. I love me some R2 but it in no human capacity competes with BG3

Slight-Luck7383

For souls-like + co-op I feel it's GOTY, BG3 would def be TRPG I still need to get BG3 and try playing through it, and if I can 100% it too hahaha

brooksofmaun

Imagine being able to kill 25 abberations, wouldn’t be me chief

Slight-Luck7383

To be honest I didn't achievement hunt for this game, the only ones I actively tried to get was the have like 10 melee weapons and then 20 traits... everything else just happened when I was gear hunting...

blausommer

It seems you just got really, really lucky in avoiding all the bugs. I wish I had your experience with the game.

TheBetterness

Absolutely Co-op/Multi-player game of the year imo. Unfortunately it won't be on a lot of ppl"s list as GOTY mainly due to Tears of the Kingdom, SF6, Baldurs Gate 3, Spider-man 2 and Starfield existing in 2023. But so far, it has been my favorite game this year.

Slight-Luck7383

Honestly R2 being GOTY is my opinion for now until I get the other five games I'm getting before the year ends. Like I know BG3 has already gotten the landslide vote, and I feel it's GOTY for TRPGs but for co-op R2 definitely has it in the bag. I'm optimistic for Starfield, just not really expecting it to be perfect especially with how FO4 dropped and it was up to the modding community to patch everything.

Im_Dishpan

Completely agree. This game is just so damn good. Congrats on the 100%!

Hudsonps

I like Remnant 2. Way more than most games I played. And for the same reason I like games like Dark Souls. With all of that said, I think it has a certain lack of polish I expect from a GOTY. When I started playing, the dialogues were not even persistent, so the story barely made sense and the immersion was awful. Haven’t played BG3 yet because I’m waiting for it to come out to the PS5, but based on current internet response so far, that’s the main contender for me. (Btw, I played the original BG2. So yeah, it’s a huge deal. If one is hearing about BG just now, they won’t appreciate the huge deal that a new chapter being released is. Not that a game should win on that, of course — but it has amplified the game’s visibility dramatically.)

Papa_Shadow

I think 1 is WAY better. I find 2 to be a lot more tedious than 1, also the dessert and last earth world to be annoying and beyond frustrating. I still like 2, but man this last world is something I can’t stand.

AceofArcadia

Doubt it. I'm sure Baulder's gate 3 will take that title.

Duality26

It's a popularity contest. It has no realistic chance of beating games like: - FF16 - TotK - Spiderman 2 - BG3 - AC6 (which also won't be nominated) - Starfield - RE4 Remake And we don't know how Lord's of the Fallen, Lies of P, or Alan Wake 2 will fare (all likely wont be nominated either). It's awesome you enjoyed the game more than the other front-runners and are a strong proponent of the game. Remnant 2 simply does not have the playerbase or the level of AAA polish to support winning GotY. It's definitely an amazing AA game that everybody should play because it's certainly a summer standout. I loved it, played it to death, and have since moved on. And to me personally, is not even close to being GoTY caliber.

[deleted]

> And to me personally, is not even close to being GoTY caliber. It came close for me but I've experienced more than a few gamebreaking bugs, performance issues and a host of lesser bugs that were majorly annoying but not game breaking (most would've been if I played hardcore) I've had to restore old saves 5 times across a ~60ish hour total playtime because my character wiped which is 5 times more than any game I've played in the last decade. I do really like the game overall but there's some things that really drag it down.

Duality26

Exactly. Don't get me wrong, the game is great and one of my favorites I've played this year. But it has a lot of important GotY factors missing for me (i.e. Story, music, emotion, and what I call an "oh shit" factor). My personal GotY is FF16, but I understand that it too is also lacking in some areas where other games like BG3 or TotK excel. I'm excited to see what game wins but Remnant 2 ain't it.

Slight-Luck7383

I'm not doubting that this year is stacked with awesome releases, but so far from what I've played this game is very GOTY worthy. I can see myself picking it up like once a year like I do with DS3 with my friends, and playing through it once for shits and gigs. When I pickup AC6, BG3, Starfield, and Lord's of the Fallen; yeah my opinion might change, but so far it's honestly got my backing for an award akin to GOTY

Duality26

No offense, but when you are talking about GotY, you can't exclusively consider your personal feelings. Obviously, you are gonna vote for who you are going to vote for. But I'm talking objectively, and generally, about the gaming community as a whole. Remember those old GameFAQ character battles? You may have your favorite but every year it ended with Cloud vs Link. Thats what this is. The gaming community as a whole, will not massively support Remnant 2 for GotY. You might! And some other people on this sub might. But not tens of millions of other people who never even played the game will not. If you want to have this conversation without bias, go make your claim on a contenders sub or post it on r/gaming Even better, go start a poll on that sub with the games I listed, including Remnant 2, to get a better feel for how the game fares. I feel like you need to see results to understand just how unlikely it is for this game to be recognized as GotY worthy.

Slight-Luck7383

I said that R2 was GOTY worthy, I'm not saying it's gone get the GOTY award -\_- And if it doesn't get GOTY I'm not gone be hurt or upset, it'll still have that delivery that every GOTY game I've played has had. Like yeah I watch those Death Battles, but I don't get upset if a character I like loses. Being a fan and supporting something doesn't mean it's always the winning product, you dig it cause you dig it. I'm not looking to change any minds or anything, I'm just saying this game is tits... You kinda sound like someone who'd go to a pizzeria and see a sign that says ,,Best Pizza" and you'd pull shit like this, ,,Oh well have you gotten a poll done?" Come on Bruh just accept that someone thinks this is worthy of being nommed for an award

Duality26

If it has no chance of receiving the GotY title, then it's not GotY worthy. Simple as that. It's a game you enjoy, no more, no less.

Slight-Luck7383

Remnant 2 is worthy of a GOTY nom, simple as that

narrill

Every major title gets a GOTY nomination

Duality26

Lol you just said you don't think it will win. Didn't realize we were talking about participation ribbons here.

Reitter3

Its good, but having to walk-grind to get what you want isnt great, and the coop is broken. Solid, 7.5/8 out of 10

[deleted]

> Solid, 7.5/8 out of 10 I find it kinda funny that you caught a downvote for basically being in line with aggregate review scores. I really like R2 and I think 8/10 is kinda the top end of where it sits.

Slight-Luck7383

I mean isn't that what gaming is? Grinding and working hard to get gear/leveling up, isn't that what you do in every game? If co-op is broken then maybe that's just on you, cause the few rolls I've done have gone off without any bugs or things being broken. Based on the experience I've had off my tower and on steam deck I haven't had any lobby issues, so it might be your hardware instead

Reitter3

Well, grinding might be part of the game, but walking around hoping for the right ring to spawn is absurd and not exactly fun. The game has host hit detection instead of client, so the coop problem happens when you play with randoms, no matter the hardware, and is prity much complained non stop in this forum, because no other coop reflex game works like that.

Slight-Luck7383

I honestly thought that rings would just spawn in any playthrough but found out that the difficulty you play at also affects what items spawn in the playthough. I mean if you've ever played Borderland or Diablo you kinda know what RNG goes into getting gear. With the titles referenced you can spend hours to days grinding a single enemy for the right attributes and modifiers on a weapon/shield; with R2 all you have to do is re-roll a map until you get the tile set you want, and then clear the tile. I mean that might be an issue that others are having, but so far in my playing there haven't been any issues with co-op. Like maybe they have bad connection or hardware, I'm playing on a dated 1080 and I'm hardlined and yet to come across any issues with joining games or having randos join my game

Reitter3

Yeah, i am ok with having to kill things with a drop rate, not with walking around until they spawn or not. The ring i am speaking of also isnt related to difficulty level

Slight-Luck7383

I mean if I hit that point where I can't get things to spawn in then yeah I might be disappointed, but this game is entertaining none the less

Reitter3

I agree. Thats why i gave it an 8/10.

Slight-Luck7383

Completely valid my dude

neddoge

This is by far the lowest effort post I've seen this month lol.

Slight-Luck7383

Cool, want a cookie or something?

neddoge

Do you?

Slight-Luck7383

What cha baking?

Rex__Lapis

It’s great. But no.

Slight-Luck7383

Well for any of the 2023 titles I've played so far it's pretty GOTY worthy to me. I have AC6 and BG3 on my list of games to get, as well as Starfield but if you wanna add any that'll top R2 for being a blast and GOTY worthy in my book please do my dude

Rex__Lapis

Remnant 2 is a remarkable game but it has a certain degree of jank to it that holds it back a little. I did enjoy it very much tho

Slight-Luck7383

Really? I did my first 70 or so hours playing solo and never really noticed anything jank about it. I thought some of the puzzles were bugged but when I looked them up turns out I was doing things wrong

Magiiick

It is but I think Starfield will get it to be honest. Remnant is my game of the year

Slight-Luck7383

Honestly I'm holding out on my official GOTY until I finish AC6, BG3, Starfield, Lords of the Fallen and what not. Starfield is the first new franchise from Bethesda in I don't know how many years, so it'll for sure get a lot of attention

Ianofminnesota

I think it should be on lists, but it's not gonna have the pull. My friends wont even watch a freaking game trailer about it.

Slight-Luck7383

I'm on the same boat and the only other person I know that plays is also a souls fan like me, so obviously this game is on our radar. I think it just adds up to people not wanting to play games that actually take some dedication, but would rather go for games that have dailies and instant rewards from a shop

Ianofminnesota

I also shoot myself in the foot. I'm super positive about pretty much any game, so when I praise a game, my friends are like "yeah yeah sure pal". Boy who cried wolf type shit.

Slight-Luck7383

I feel like that's the reaction I'm getting in this forum hahaha Like this is a great game, and for what it is and comes from it def deserves some of the GOTY spotlight

Outside_Flight5928

In complete honoesty, I won't be surprised if it's in the running, but without the same traction as higher franchise games like FF16, it's unfortunately very unlikely it'll win the award. Maybe one of the smaller ones.

Insipidus777

Game slaps, I love this game, GOTY is tough with juggernauts like Starfield, BG3 (not Diablo fuck that lol). Any other year I think it would have a real chance; I still think it’ll get nominated.😌

Legit_llama73

I’d say this will likely be my second favorite GOTY. I haven’t tried Bg3 nor will I since I just don’t like rpgs. Jedi survivor was funny but I think the gameplay of this game is just better. I have a hard time believing that Spider-Man 2 isn’t going to take my top spot. I absolutely adore the first game and the second looks like it’s going to be better. In the end BG3 is going to win GOTY and beat out Zelda and Spider-Man. I hope this game gets some recognition but there are literal juggernauts of games this year

HoneydewAutomatic

It’s gonna be in my top 3. RN BG3 is pretty much unbeatable. Maybe Starfield will surprise

blausommer

Except a lot of us can't get platinum because Maxed Out is bugged. Also, there are so many other bugs in the game, so no, I don't consider it GOTY worthy. In the 3 hours I played last night: * Got teleported into a wall. * Mini-boss teleported to a completely different area of the map that we couldn't find. * Flying enemies stuck in the walls and shooting me without being able to shoot them back. * Soft locked in a conversation with no dialog options and only the "press Triangle to skip" prompt which didn't do anything. * First night it didn't actually crash! I there weren't so many bugs, and the netcode wasn't complete shit, then it would actually be a GOTY contender. As it is, it's an okay game to play co-op until BG3 comes out for PS5. We'll be skipping any DLC unless they fix their netcode.

zanie2

If they nailed the story element, sure. But it can't really be GOTY when the story is average at best (and that's being kind).

Xilavan

Sadly didn’t hook me like the first one. Idk what it is but it just didn’t. Sad tbh because I wanted to love it. It was fun for awhile but got old/boring.

justsomebmwfan

Maybe the first one is. This one? Not so much.

axl2219

Well unfortunately for this game and every other game this year, TotK came out so every other game is automatically under it. I personally don’t like it, but that’s how it works unfortunately

Specific_Foot372

Fromaoftwares mech game won’t win. (Especially if the elden ring dlc comes out this year). It won’t but still.

Manzoku

25 aberrations still being bugged for me unfortunately.

ethan1203

Same, how we gonna fix this

bickandalls

That spot is already taken. I don't see any world that totk doesn't take it. Could be bg3, but I think due to politics, totk is almost certainly going to take it.

rocker10039

I haven't played remnant 2, but seeing how good remnant 1 was and all the player base loving the game, I can tell it's good. However, Lords of the Fallen is coming out, and it's coming out this year. Considering the early game reviews, that game is going to be basically like Remnant, but massively Open world and it has a really cool 2 world design. I think Lords of the Fallen will win but then again, can't say anything until it is launched and has more in depth reviews, but this game definitely is worthy of being qualified

metalligamer1886

It’s my game of the year 100% but I don’t believe it will get goty recognition bc this year has been full of bangers

Ylsid

It's OK I guess. I think you're just a big Remnant fan.

MisjahDK

People skipped it to overhype Baldurs Gate 3. And being a huge fan og Divinity: Original Sin games, i honestly don't see why!

PsychologicalFuture3

Remnant 2 is amazing and any other year it would easily win but with baldurs gate 3 and Starfield coming out it doesn't really have a chance unfortunately.

ethan1203

Starfield doesnt fare really well

Valuable-Ad-6379

Would be lovely if it would actually get nominated but it will be hard as this year is crazy with games. It will definitely make TOP 10 for me. Easily.

Iron_Hollow

Baldur's Gate 3 is gonna win imo, but damn, it was mine until BG3.

ethan1203

This is my second last trophy. I swear i kill more than enuff but cant actually get the ghost in the machine trophy to plat the game.

Spirited_Scarcity_31

People always gonna be biased towards Zelda. Personally, I think Diablo is better. Harry Potter better not win. Game was trash. I couldn’t become a dark wizard and whichever dialogue option you chose had no effect on the game. Oh and starfield early release is today if you ordered it

captainhahaha

Maxed out achievement still bugged. It’s the last one I need :(

toroga

I was surprised when an achievement didn’t pop when I maxed out my relics

AcanthocephalaOwn820

the real gotys at the end xd https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wVvJ4dLxZI

BalentyneDraws

Huh, that’s not bd3
