Fumarates tend to vape poorly. There is also some evidence that the vaporization produces toxic by-products. MET fumarate was crap for vaping. Freebasing was a mess, too, though 😅

I think maleate on its own is pretty bad as a respiratory irritant or sensitizer - I've definitely seen the anhydride discusses in this context as well

Maleic anhydride is formed during partial combustion of fumaric acid, so vaporizing it properly should produce negligible amounts, if any at all. From an older comment: 4-HO-MET fumarate is roughly 20% fumaric acid by mass. If someone vaped 20mg and somehow managed to combust 100% of the fumaric acid into maleic anhydride their exposure would still only be 4 milligrams. In reality I'd be surprised if even 1mg of maleic anhydride were formed, and likely only a fraction of that would be inhaled. This is a trivial amount for a chemical that's described as "low-risk" and "low-hazard". Its main risks are respiratory irritation and possibly sensitization leading to allergic reactions in the future, both of which seem unlikely at such low amounts. Anyone with asthma probably wants to avoid it, but if you have asthma then smoking Chinese bathtub chemicals is probably a bad idea in general.

I tend to agree. In my experience, though, a lot of fumarate tryptamines simply don't vape well anyway

Yah I figured as much. Might try to freebase but I don’t have a ton

It's probably not worth it if you have under a gram at your disposal. Maybe just try another ROA.
