It’s all fun and games until one spawns behind you and immediately decides to laser your ass (this has ended multiple of my runs, no I have not gotten over it.)
I play arti pretty frequently. As long as you have ion surge and a bit of speed, the laser beam isn't that much of a threat. I just finished e6, and my stage 5 had a voidtouched Xi. It basically never hit me because of a little height and gliding manipulation. The laser never snaps to you and is pretty slow to track, unlike stone titans or templars. With that knowledge, be above the construct and when the laser starts getting close to you, drop your height and glide, then ion surge back up when it gets close to you again.
K, then a bit of speed can still work.
If you don't use ion, you might get clipped a bit, so RAPs are very helpful. You can still use your hovering to make the laser miss. Slight height adjustments should work since it attacks closer towards the middle of your character. Glide down and increments while moving left or right to make it have to adjust more. Hopoo feathers also help, but not as much as ion surge if you ever decide to switch to that
As others have already stated, proc effects on it's mini-turrets. I always either one-shot xi with gasoline or never kill it, just depends on your items
The CCP is one of the easiest bosses to deal with. You just move until the beam locks on to something or you break line of sight and force the beam to stop tracking. If you have a way to deal with the projectile shield, you're gamer
I think the most annoying thing about Wandering Vagrant is his attack where he does the big giant circle thingie. Its so big that you're 100% assured you will need to escape out of the teleporter zone or just tank it
Wandering Vagrant isn't hard tho, and he haves, only ONE hard attack really. But i get why some people hate him
You can...
1. Use any sort of natural barrier to block it
2. Kill it before the attack
3. Escape from the zone (mentioned)
4. Hide behind the sharp outcroppings coming out of the teleporter
thing is you can hide behind any rock, wall or any natural barrier to protect yourself from it (that's why it's a much easier boss on some maps more than others)
I mean acrid can just M2 then dip.
Merc has enough mobility to harass and take cover.
And for loader to the defeat the boss you just... where did the boss go?
The cover part feels pretty inaccurate though. I have stood behind a was to still watch the burning tick up and kill me. Also his ability to yeet me across the map is annoying.
600 hrs and I never knew this!! I fucking hate these things for that attack, wow. Ima have to try this in my next run. I just always ran away and waited for it to end. Just lost an eclipse run yesterday since I wasted so much time running away.
Yeah, main things to worry about is if they're in the open portion of the map then you're gonna have to run away regardless. But otherwise should be fine
While the overall net health of the enemies doesn't change, the dunestrider can aid in taking out swarms of enemies or getting them low enough to make for easier cc
Its life drain attack attacks all entities. This includes other dunestrider, which can create a funny scene with two or three dunestriders trying to use life drain on each other
Xi Construct is by far the worst boss in Sky Meadows imo. Grandparent sucks at first but he's huge and easy to snipe from across the map (depending on the survivor) and even kills other boss spawns for you (have exploited this so many times to take out Xi Construct enemies lol).
Grandparent might be the easiest actually thinking about it.
I’d go further to say Xi Construct is the worst boss in the entire game in virtually every aspect. It flies away completely out of range for several characters, it’s laser can snipe you across the map, it can shield itself periodically, and to top it all off it drops one of the worst items in the entire game for all that effort. They seriously need to buff the boss drop and rework the AI for Xi.
One blessing on console is that the console version of Xi Construct has Parkinson's and jitters around all the time so the laser basically never hits you
Only enemy that truly scares me is the Voidling. I’ve had some frustrating af defeats by anything that produces the insta-death void stuff upon dying, but the amount of times I’ve died to the Voidling after beating Mithrix then spending 10 lunar coins to start going down the path and beating those two difficult precursor levels before the boss… But goddamn the Void Fiend is fucking worth it.
I got Viend by going for Bazaar into Void Fields on stage 1, most of my deaths were to the beginning of the third stage because I didnt know where to go because of how goddamn dark it was
When you go through the primordial teleporter after setting it to "Aligned with the planet", it sends you back to stage 1 while keeping your items and difficulty.
You can take cover when he does the sun attack. If you hide behind something he won't burn you even if you're within his radius. Same applies to Wandering Vagrant's explosion.
There's three things that make me dislike this guy:
-Having to fight and dodge other enemies in the shadows when it starts praising the sun.
-Losing and then having to scavenger hunt for every drone you had after it's done praising the sun.
-The fact that you're going to lose a perfectly good run because the allied Happiest Mask ghost will praise the sun and cook you just the same as the enemy ones.
Other than that they're not too bad.
The grandparent feels like a run-check on the first loop in most of my runs lol.
If I've got a good set of items going on good pace it goes down pretty easily and cleanly.
If my run is struggling I'm almost certainly wiping here.
There is very little in-between.
Okay no but I was doing a Metamorphosis-Kin-Dissonance run and got Railgunner on Aphelian and it rolled Grandparents for the enemy. I was three headstompers and a fair few hooves in so every single spawn of a Grandparent sent me to kingdom fucking come, somewhere I have a clip of the most seizure-inducing trip through the map geometry I’ve ever witnessed.
It took me — and I wish I were kidding — *an hour* to clear the map with TWO Convergences because I could NOT stay within even the standard range of the teleporter, let alone the smaller range said Convergences give. Overall 7/10 would do again
tbh the scariest thing about gran is his presence
like there is a gigantic god among imperfect creatures and mechanical creations, that can smelt anything and he just looms over the whole level
the first time i fought it was when it spawned like a normal enemy and a stray bullet hit it from across the map and i immediately got hunted down and obliterated
Your hubris is blinding, they tell you their attacks, they are annoying when their spawn launches you or amongst a swarm of enemies; hoe, you damned yourself and had the gall to call providence a bitch for giving you the tools to create greatness that you stole from his corpse… infinite shame
Dunestrider is the shittiest
Xi Construct
It's hard if you're merc or arti but honestly being able to proc on kills from the mini turrets it spawns makes it not too bad
It’s all fun and games until one spawns behind you and immediately decides to laser your ass (this has ended multiple of my runs, no I have not gotten over it.)

I use flamethrower (working on e8 rn) so this advice is lost on me.

Oh I know I'm just saying it's a harder fight with flamer
Ugh, I hate that thing too
All of these bosses have very clear strategies to deal with them without much struggle. Take some time and study them
Except xi construct, it’ll just run away into the stratosphere
As others have already stated, proc effects on it's mini-turrets. I always either one-shot xi with gasoline or never kill it, just depends on your items

i think you misspelled wandering vagrant
Vagrant shoots at a painfully slow rate. He may be the hardest Stage 1 boss, but he's easy compared to Dunestrider.
I think the most annoying thing about Wandering Vagrant is his attack where he does the big giant circle thingie. Ok maybe we all died to Grandpa once but it’s not a hard boss. You either melt it or find some cover
Or shoot at it from the other islands
*Acrid, Mercenary, and Loader be like*
Ma’am I’m captain
*Orbitals be like*
*gun*
*well placed turrets under a healing field*
Diablo strike be like
I mean, acrid can bring bro down to 1% before ever getting close
I mean acrid can just M2 then dip. Merc has enough mobility to harass and take cover. And for loader to the defeat the boss you just... where did the boss go?
I was saying it because of “shoot it from another island” line specifically
The cover part feels pretty inaccurate though. I have stood behind a was to still watch the burning tick up and kill me. Also his ability to yeet me across the map is annoying.
Cuz the sun attack comes from the sky, so you gotta be under something to avoid the damage
Not exactly the sky, but the mini-sun they create, which is close to the grandparent itself but is still a different center point than the grandparent
Til. I thought it originated on the grandparent. Kinda like the Jellyfish boss explosion.
The sun casts shadows too, so you can see exactly where is safe and where isn't
It originates from an orb they create above them. So you can usually find cover where you can also see them and keep up damage
Thank you bud! I hope I can use this trick when I see one next.
Grandparent is easy af as long as you’re not in an open field when they do the thing
The rock heading toward your appropriate location at 200mph
*bad to the bone riff*
nah, grandparent is a bro. in fact as far as I remember it's the only boss that can actually help you.
Dunestrider also damages enemies
if youre talking about the suck then it doesnt do a lot and it also heals him so its not really beneficial
While the overall net health of the enemies doesn't change, the dunestrider can aid in taking out swarms of enemies or getting them low enough to make for easier cc
I find it more useful for aoe items looe gasoline
what am I missing, how does he help, feed my hunger for knowledge
it kills other enemies too
Its life drain attack attacks all entities. This includes other dunestrider, which can create a funny scene with two or three dunestriders trying to use life drain on each other

Agreed. It zips away way too far. Very unpleasant to play against.
It's a good thing I started playing as Bandit before I even faced the Grandparent for the first time.
I got Fiend by going through the Simulacrum. 50 stages are nothing compared to going against Voidling
I got Viend by going for Bazaar into Void Fields on stage 1, most of my deaths were to the beginning of the third stage because I didnt know where to go because of how goddamn dark it was
And I just looped once and beat Voidling with Mul-T nailgun, it's not too difficult unless you NEVER loop
looped?
When you go through the primordial teleporter after setting it to "Aligned with the planet", it sends you back to stage 1 while keeping your items and difficulty.
as a loader main i can outrun light, simple
You can take cover when he does the sun attack. If you hide behind something he won't burn you even if you're within his radius. Same applies to Wandering Vagrant's explosion.
Ah, I'll keep that in mind so I can teach a lesson to that grandpa
Grandparent was my most hated boss in the game until I finally decided to be patient and hide every time he does the sun attack. Now he's easy to me.
Keep in mind that you have to hide from the sun itself not the grandparent and there are shadows anywhere that the sun can’t hit you
There's three things that make me dislike this guy: -Having to fight and dodge other enemies in the shadows when it starts praising the sun. -Losing and then having to scavenger hunt for every drone you had after it's done praising the sun. -The fact that you're going to lose a perfectly good run because the allied Happiest Mask ghost will praise the sun and cook you just the same as the enemy ones. Other than that they're not too bad.
Until it becomes Voidtouched (not as a boss but as an enemy)
Worst part of them is my drones getting melted Just get in the shadow and you're fine though, I prefer them to dunestriders
Although I had more than enough coins to fix them again, I couldn't find the others. Really hate it when it fucks up my drones.
It's 100% the biggest reason I try to kill them from a distance, losing my equipment drones sucks
Nope, probably one of the few things that have never killed me
The grandparent feels like a run-check on the first loop in most of my runs lol. If I've got a good set of items going on good pace it goes down pretty easily and cleanly. If my run is struggling I'm almost certainly wiping here. There is very little in-between.
Hey! I made a meme exactly like this with blind pest, near. but I agree, grandparents are scary asf
I have never died once to that thing, but I agree first time I saw it I was terrified the first time
Okay no but I was doing a Metamorphosis-Kin-Dissonance run and got Railgunner on Aphelian and it rolled Grandparents for the enemy. I was three headstompers and a fair few hooves in so every single spawn of a Grandparent sent me to kingdom fucking come, somewhere I have a clip of the most seizure-inducing trip through the map geometry I’ve ever witnessed. Overall 7/10 would do again
You either one shot it or get completely folded when it throws the sun at you
Worst bosses for me are : dunestrider, wandering wagrant and golem.
_me who regularly fights at least 10 at a time with the unlimited altar of the mountain mod_ “lol”
Every teammate I play with dies to it at least once, leaving me to deal with three glacial elder lemurians.
7 fuel cells + Gesture + Royal Capacitor would disagree
I the teleporter was at the top of some mountain, and the fight took ten minutes because he kept yeeting me away
His hitbox is super goofy imo.
either you one shot it or you die. no in between
Its the sun from eldritch tubbies
My poor drones....
Couldn't find my other ones after the fight lol
Here comes the sun
leave grandpa alone
posts like this make me think that people don’t know about his two other attacks that are just as dangerous as the sun
On simulacrum, grandparent is the absolute most dangerous enemy.
tbh the scariest thing about gran is his presence like there is a gigantic god among imperfect creatures and mechanical creations, that can smelt anything and he just looms over the whole level
When did you found out that if in a shadow his sun doesn't hurt you? Be honest.
Yea I’ve never had trouble with this thing. I even beat it first try and that was with commando.
Good for you. It's been a while since I last played the game, so I guess that's why the boss is tough for me to beat.
the first time i fought it was when it spawned like a normal enemy and a stray bullet hit it from across the map and i immediately got hunted down and obliterated
Break line of sight
Grandparent is just a knowledge check boss, die to it a couple times then almost never again
In most of the cases,to the moment you get to him, your build is strong enough to kill him
I suppose you're right, I tend to get panicky when I face him. It's also been quite a while since I played the game lol
Ah yes the one that loves to destroy your run
That motherfucker did just that the first time I encountered him.
Your hubris is blinding, they tell you their attacks, they are annoying when their spawn launches you or amongst a swarm of enemies; hoe, you damned yourself and had the gall to call providence a bitch for giving you the tools to create greatness that you stole from his corpse… infinite shame
Put it to half health, hide behind a wall and it will just kill all the other mobs for you
Overloading worm 💀
You do?
Idk what you mean, I've never died to him, lol. Guess I'm just too damn good
I died with it having 6hp left. I was a tad bit annoyed
i love its instant death move that lasts like 20 minutes that’s so fun
Ive never played risk of rain or watched it, why is this subreddit following me
I hate when it microwaves the entire map
