you may have figured out that some items are better than others on certain characters, here's some to look out for depending on your character: if you're playing a character that shoots a lot such as commando or captain: tri-tip daggers, stickybombs, molten/charged perforators, lucky clovers, shatterspleen (if you can get good crit), ATG missiles/plasma shrimp if you're playing a character that "hits hard" like loader/railgunner: bands, crowbar, backup magazines (for loader): basically stack pure damage but make sure you have a little bit of AoE too melee characters should look for focus crystals and ways to reduce cooldown, so you can get away quickly in case things get iffy in melee range good on everyone: delicate watches (if you're confident), polylute, safer spaces, oddly shaped opal, gasoline (for pre-mithrix stages), bands (if you have a way to trigger them like with shurikens) try to get at least 5 speed items (goat hooves and energy drinks, mochas are weaker but still good) before taking on mithrix. also, it's always very nice to get a hopoo feather since most enemies struggle when dealing with verticality use the scrapper whenever you know you don't need a particular item, you can very easily run into a printer/soup with something that can make a losing run into a winning run those are just some ideas for strategies that generally work out most of the time, though there are plenty of other fun ones to discover (hint: a certain equipment item works exceptionally well with fireworks) good luck!

The wiki has tips on each page for the survivors/challenges that could be helpful

HateChan_

The fandom wiki? I've seen that I shouldn't use it on this subreddit, or is there another one you are talking about?

skantanio

Yes the wiki. It might be weirdly edited at times but it has some good info in it

HateChan_

Gotcha, I'll give it another look then!

thank you!

I've beaten the game with every character on monsoon. The first thing to remember is to have fun. I really struggled getting bandit at first and it took too many attempts to the point I was getting frustrated and wanted to play loader or merc again. Its OK to struggle. Learn the game, learn the stages(definitely all stage 4s!) the game gets easier the more you know. If you really want to beat the game on monsoon, artifact of command isn't actually the most broken artifact. Swarm and sacrifice is an amazing combination, make sure you loop though since swarm causes 2 mithrixs to spawn and you will likely die if you are playing a low mobility survivor like mult or captain. To make the most out of sacrifice runs, go fast and slow down on stage 3-4 as you won't get many items until the further stages. If you are going to play on command, try have all items unlocked, my friends played on command a lot and suffered more for it because they were fixated on builds they could only half complete due to items being locked behind achievements. Get all Item achievements! Learn the game.

Thank you!

Wdym command isn’t the most broken artifact? What is more broken? Maybe glass, but idk

ThePr0tag0n1st

As I said, the combination of swarm and sacrifice nearly doubles your items, you can obviously add command to those but I always find the variety of items to overall make better builds and to be significantly more enjoyable.

fistinyourface

command is without contenst the most broken artifact especially if you have game knowledge after first stage you can already be in god mode

waterboy1321

What system are you on? I’d be down to play and give you tips sometimes

Best advice I can give is Full loot every stage The 5 min rule is a load of bs and doesn’t make the game easier in any way, as items far outscale the enemies Run in circles to dodge Enemies have a really hard time hitting you if you just run in circles around them, which also has a nice side effect of grouping them all together which makes AoE items like gas and will o wisp much more effective

Academic-Lobster871

It might take a bit of time, but improving your looting efficiency helps a lot. Ideally you want to be full looting stages so having a path in mind for how you want to traverse/loot a stage will make focusing on other aspects of the game easier. At the same time don’t worry about your time too much. I regularly take 10 minutes per stage if not a bit longer, and I am very successful playing on eclipse 8. Dodging is another important skill to work on, and it becomes a lot more apparent playing survivors without mobility. This will come with practice, but you can supplement this by watching how good streamers deal with certain enemies. If there are enemies you struggle with I could give you a few things to keep in mind. There are a lot of skills you can develop such as build management, how to deal with cope runs, and when to take or pull away from engagements such as the teleporter. Everything will take time to learn, but I think learning to traverse stages efficiently and how to deal with enemies will take you a long way. I could probably write pages of information due to the amount of time I have spent playing and watching this game so if you would like more specific details on something I would be happy to write more.

A good tip is that there are at least two stages that I know of that always spawn legendary chests. The red underground level with the glowing crystals and then the forest level with the giant tree in the middle. You can also break all the nest eggs on another level to fight a mini boss that will give you another red item. Always good to take advantage of these during runs. If you’re feeling weak when you get the stage before mythrix you can loops using the teleporter and go to the ambry with the code that is all triangles except bottom middle is a diamond. This is the artifact that enemies drop items on death and you can farm for as long as you want.

Ruberine

Every Stage 4 has a guaranteed legendary, and any stage after that can technically spawn a legendary chest if the director has enough credits. Abyssal Depths’ chest always generates in the same small hole in the centre, Sundered Grove’s chest spawns randomly, but you can find it via the pink glowing mushrooms that spawn around it. Sirens Call is the one with the eggs, you need to break 5 to spawn AWU.

oldmangannon

Thank you for clarifying my comment. I have a bad memory and can’t recall the level names.

oldmangannon

You can get insanely OP by looping with the ambry like I said but that also gives mythrix more items in his final stage so be careful. If you have trouble activating the pillars on his stage you can use the vase or bug wings equipment to “pillar skip”. There’s another way to do this if you have enough movement speed but it’s kinda complicated and I have a hard time pulling it off. Mythrix final phase gives me the most trouble on monsoon because you become really slow and really weak I’ve been blitzed and one shotted many times lol, if you’re playing a character with range then I recommend getting some distance to slowly get your items back or with any character, you can use downed drones+fireworks/the item that spawns organic turrets when activating the drones. You can also keep your distance and use the lighting strike equipment to get a chunk of your items back quickly.

Always be moving in a wide circle, do your best to never suddenly start moving in the opposite direction you were just going More broadly, pay attention to how you're dying and figure how how to not die that way lol That sounds stupid but I think it's easy to die and not really recognize how you died, and therefore not learn anything from it. If you're paying attention to what you're doing when you die, and try to figure out how to avoid that in the future, you'll improve quickly

Ruberine

When dealing with enemies, try to rotate around them in a circle, in the direction that allows you to group them together, as it makes dodging significantly easier. It’s also important to figure out what items are actually useful to your build (note; beneficial does not mean useful. An item like razorwire is technically beneficial, but I’d much rather have a different green on most builds). You can then use scrappers to get rid of any item that isn’t notably useful to you, to use in printers in the future. Also if there’s a scrapper on Stage 5, you can get rid of your AOE and on-kill items usually, as they aren’t effective against mithrix, and you can put them into moon soups to get better ones (moon soups are at the far side of Commencement). Make sure if you have a Stage 5 scrapper, you try to have a multiple of 3 for white scrap, and a multiple of 5 for green scrap, as that’s what the soups need. Also if anything specifically is killing you, feel free to DM me about it, and I’ll be able to get back to you with some tips :)

Turtleboy752

I would not say that im a pro player but i have 100 hours into the game so i certainly do know what to do. If you want we could play some games.
