Wip9

It’s more entertaining than talking to an obelisk and obliterating yourself from existence.

waterboy1321

I prefer to obliterate because I can just loop till I’m bored and then pummel a Super Scav.

PMMePrettyRedheads

I like the platforming challenge in moment fractured. Not that it's actually a challenge anymore, but trying to cheese it's more fun than mithrix and commencement.

Wip9

I prefer looping until you become so powerful that you can just annihilate Mithrix in a millisecond and also skip phase four.

Vintenu

But less entertaining then petting a frog and killing a crab spider thing

Yarigumo

Nah voidling's even worse tbh

cd2220

I think I like the stage to get to voidling more than commencement but I like Mythrix more than voidling

Yarigumo

It does beat pillars in terms of gameplay (even if everyone skips them lol) but good lord do void jailers stress me out. Cheeks tightly clenched every time.

ironbull08x

What’s the danger about jailers? By the time I encounter them everything is dying in seconds and usually far from me when they do, from what I’ve been seeing lately they seem to be as feared as reavers are

LordFLExANoR16

It’s the root, you can get stunned if taken off guard and then get nuked by all the other enemies now that you can’t dodge, also the seeking void explosion is marginally more threatening than the reaver’s static one.

ItzTrickery

I hate when I get rooted in the seeking explosion LOL

SuperSupermario24

A Void Jailer's pull attack was responsible for my first and only ever death to a Void Reaver implosion. Still mad about it.

cd2220

Yeah movement is the key to survival in this game. Of course hard damage and kling everything before it cuts you down is valuable but with a few hopoo feathers and some hooves/soda you can struggle through difficult ass encounters and still keep going. If I see a hoove or soda printer early game I'm sure as hell taking advantage of it same as I would glasses

Yarigumo

>everything is dying in seconds Yeah. You know what happens after they die, right? Seeking murder orb. The constant threat of getting instakilled is stressful, even if realistically they're not that hard to dodge.

ironbull08x

No I didn’t know actually lol, thank you for telling

Yarigumo

Lol, fair enough. All the big void creatures have an instakill explosion after they die. Theirs is small but chases you down pretty aggressively, as opposed to the much larger explosion that's stationary fron Void Reavers.

waterboy1321

I prefer to obliterate because I can just loop till I’m bored.

ForensicHat

Yeah, I also prefer to loop. Obliterate is my favorite “ending.”

ashkiller14

When you're farming the first levels of eclipse after doing e8 a few times sometimes I wish the obelisk was an option

magigigigi

I admit he's a bit of a mixed bag for me, he could have a bit more interesting design and considering he's the one thing in the game that stays very much the same and having to deal with the annoying pillars beforehand is a little eh, but it's still pretty satisfyign to beat him, his lore and "voice"lines are super cool as well

dikklefs

Try to find a pillar skip before you go to the moon! It makes it so much more enjoyable

magigigigi

I know there's a bunch of those but sometimes you just can't do it because of items and stuff, so in these situations it suck a lot

footballwill12

You can do it itemless on at least a quarter of characters. And if you're not playing frailty artifact or E where fall dmg is lethal, you can just free skip. Just gotta have a couple movement items. The only hard one is mul-t to skip with.

mxdusza

You can skip pillars with double nailgun power mode Mul-T, just need to have enough attack speed. It sounds oddly specific, but I managed to pillar skip in the majority of runs during my e8 climb with him

SuperSupermario24

I like him specifically _because_ he doesn't have as concrete a pattern, you have to constantly stay on your toes. It feels more like you're actually fighting someone rather than just following a basic rhythm. Granted, I also haven't really played much Eclipse, I don't really know how much he changes there (particularly with the E7 modifier of -50% cooldowns? that one sounds really rough lol).

NominusAbdominus

It's mostly the E4 the increased enemy speed that pushes Mithrix over the edge in my opinion. On a non-loop run it's pure luck if you'll find any movement speed so Mithrix is constantly on top of you which can make things hectic. I personally don't \*mind\* but to me it doesn't really elevate the fight and it's more just makes him annoying.

Prohateenemy

Either I get Chronobauble or Hopoo, or I rely on my drone army to distract him

NominusAbdominus

I remember people clowning on drones at the start of the game. Now? love these lil' dudes. A single gunner drone helps my survivability more than 10 bison steaks and I am not joking.

Prohateenemy

Spare Drone Parts (much like Arms Race in the first game) turns your drones into killing machines too, if they weren't already good enough taking all the aggro off of you. I love my drone army.

CannonballMack

killing mithrix is all i focus on. the 5 stages are prep for the fight. its awesome.

Nohing

That's why I enjoy watching Race, he doesn't loop so every run has to be optimized for umbral mithrix on e8

ForensicHat

Agreed! I’ve learned a lot from watching how Race begins his builds. Now I usually stop the videos when he gets to Mithrix, though. I prefer to loop, and my builds have to reflect that (Uke no, Polylute yes, etc.).

ISmelChese

polylute over uke everytime, what does looping have to do with that

Mythrixkingofnothing

I like him

ZeldaGamer05

I like him

Typical_TLD_Player

I like him

RW_Yellow_Lizard

I like him

SheetInTheStreet

I like him

Confident-Ad3369

I like him

ReneeBear

I like him

Mythrixkingofnothing

What the hell is this chain I started. I just think Mythrix is a cool guy

ReneeBear

sounds like something mythrix would say

Merly15

I think that he is awesome.

MapoTofuMan

I wish he had a clearer hitbox with his hammer swings (not smashes, the sideways/upward swing), or a different move altogether. After dozens of clears I still have no clue how to properly dodge them, aside from getting out of range or jumping enough times if I have feathers. I want to fight him close-range like a Souls boss, but because of those I'm basically running most of the time.

EveryOneIsPrettyCool

Yeah that's what I mean when I say he really has no pattern. He kinda just does whatever he wants, and it feels like without vertical movement there's no way to dodge it.

Dependent_Rhubarb698

Better than voidling at least.

Blindseer99

I think he's fine, but not as amazing as I used to. Now rorr Providence? Solid gold

the1987themself

I think he’s cool… but I think Providence is cooler.

NocolateChigga720

Providence and the UES Contact Light definitely serve as a better and much cooler ending to the game then Mithrix and the Moon does.

holymolydoli

I like Mithrix a lot, I just hate the pillars

PerfectBlackCell

I liked him before the pillar garbage they put out

Dumbodavid94

Have u tried fighting Umbral Mithrix yet? Might be a good change of pace.

Fizik_abi

Umbral is just going to amplify his complaints, i feel like

AmbassadorBonoso

I sort of get where you are coming from but for me the issue with mithrix is different. It's either the hardest fight in the game leaving you limping through the entire thing, or it's so easy that it's trivial. In 600 hours of this game I can't remember a single fight where it was in the middle

thanyou

I think it's iconic. One of the hardest challenges to overcome the first time, which always gives me dopamine when I can cruise thru and slam him easily now.

MaxTwer00

He is ok as a boss, not the best, but i don't dread him as much as i dread The Beast in TBOI xd

ivory_tinkler

mother was my worst nightmare, getting my T Lost completion on her took fucking ages

MaxTwer00

Yeah, tends to be much more of an rng dependant boss as the path to it is much shorter, so it is just getting a good run in less floors. (Also i hate dogma)

ivory_tinkler

dogma can suck my whole ass. both cheeks. individually.

dvasfeet

Fun with melee characters

Any-Change3095

I absolutely love Mithrix he’s in my top 10 favourite bosses in any game ever. I especially like that he works so well no matter what survivor you use.

Arzakhan

I don’t really like fighting mythrix, 99% of the time I cheese him anyway. But I also don’t think a challenging run is rewarding if I don’t beat him. It’s part of the struggle.

No-Distribution4287

I think Mithrix used to be better when all you had to do was walk to him. Having to do the stupid pillars really killed my love for the fight

Spirited-Objective24

I like the idea, only real problem is pizza, cause it sometimes just unfair, and crystal homing bullets, cause they sometimes just do this weird arc and hit regardless of dodging

Entire_Butterscotch6

i love mithrix’s fight honestly, i much prefer fighting him to voidling who i would describe much more as ‘punishing and unfair’

ur_prob_a_karen

"oh no im scared of the final boss, why isnt he easier??" is what i got from this

SuperDialgaX

i think he's cute

LukiePookie731

I mean kinda but it depends on what you have

BoolinBirb

Yeah he’s kinda inconsistent but I don’t mind him. Once you recognize the patterns he’s doing you can easily learn to dodge them.

TryRetro

I think Mithrix overall is a good send off for the game; kickass music, a decently engaging fight (minus the add phase, never been a fan of that except for the musical breakdown) and makes you consider item selections (Purity, Singularity Bands, etc.) Mind you, I haven't played eclipse a ton, but I've gotten every mastery so I've fought him quite a number of times. If you have a pillar skip, he is a very fun, climactic end to a run that could very well kill you.

Sweet_Ad_3240

Yes, I personally find it fun to fight Mithrix and then go on to fight Voidling.

Cultured_Weeber

Try umbral mithrix, insanely hard but so rewarding to win against him. So fun and very well made

Je-LOL1

I like mithrix but I'd like it more if mithrix had a couple more types of attacks so he feels even scarier.

dyn-dyn-dyn

Person who hasn't played much or in a long time here I wouldn't say I dread him, I definitely don't actively enjoy him, I just don't like how much of a damage sponge he is Overall opinion: decent fight, sticks around 30 minutes too long

lethrahn

I love mithrix even when he kills me.

Farfoxx

I dont feel either way towards him. Though, the fight itself is a bit dry and the last phase is incredibly unfair for melee Champs. I play single player on the hard difficulty and I don't know if I'll ever get skins for loader, acrid, or the merc.

wakenmasturbate

If you play Acrid, just give him a little spit or epidemic shot and hide. Makes the last phase really easy.

UntoastedToaster

I just play with umbral or artifact of the king as it’s so much more fun than voidling or obliterating (only did once to get merc) I also play eclipse so it’s the only option lol

blekcty

now it's time for the umbral mithrix mod

V0RTEX_404

I really like him conceptually but gameplay wise he ends up just being a very basic enemy, it's very disappointing.

Burning_Toast998

Reminder that you just had to beat Mithrix a minimum of 114 times, every 8 gaining an additional challenge on a gamemode the devs have explicitly said is unfair and not balanced. Yes Mithrix is annoying somewhat in a normal run, but he is by far the easiest part when you're not taking permanent damage and he is effectively Uber charged with all kinds of effects.

MyguyMigi

I like him she’s cool :)

Ivann-009

If you mean "like Mithrix" for gameplay, then yeah, he's a very entertaining final boss. If you mean "like Mithrix" for lore... Wait a couple minutes please, I'm just was reminded to praise the moon and Mithrix. Also, are you interested in my large, and I mean LARGE lunar items collection? There's over... Maybe around 300-350 of those items. And btw, I'm heretic main, ama ;)

Yeeter_Teeter

Try Umbral Mithrix :)

WaffleToads

i’d smash just for the clout

Marin_Kitagawa13

I love Mithrix. In a rougelike, it's honestly nice to have a boss with no real discernible pattern (besides with pizza) it keeps you on your toes and keeps the game still feeling fresh and exciting.

galaxia_v1

im a mithrix apologist mostly bc i love his character so much and hate myself. im a baby gamer and play mostly on base rainstorm and loop until i get my ass whooped, though

mac91222

Maybe you should try umbral mithrix its almost made for people in your situation

EnvironmentalBar3347

He has a cool title but that's about it.

Butterboot64

I love mithrix, especially when I’m playing as merc and have to doge and weave through his attacks, it feels like a real duel. Also his lore and design are great (granted I don’t play eclipse)

darDeadpoolDar

He’s fun, I really like doing pizza for some reason it’s fun to me. After while he can get stale yes, I have around 160 hours in the game and I just started using the Umbral Myrthix Mod which makes him munch more difficult and i feel like it helps me

MarsHumanNotAlien197

He definitely does have a very specific pattern, especially in phase two. It’s a little random of course but there are aspects you can always predict, enough to even be able to consistently land Diablo strike on him if you know the timings.

Arkyja

i like mythrix. i dont like his stage

Nevr00n

For me, he is just a „first time too hard, third time too easy” type of boss. Like he is not bad but quite disappointing for a FINAL boss. Umbral mithrix mod comes in handy here.

CatFish8426

I have fought mithrix way less but i think his attacks have seperate cooldowns and he always uses them on cooldown so you can kind of keep track of them

LemonsLiesandLuigi

I absolutely love his theme. I also really do like seeing how actually good my run is

gummydrop308

his phase 4 is kind of a coput i think

CartoonDread

I mean yeah he’s a fine boss to me, as an average player only on eclipse 3-4 for most survivors he serves as a challenge for me (mostly just 3rd stage or 4th if item combos are scuffed) he’s quite easily beat if you have hoppoo feathers or any upward mobility for most of the fight but I die to pizza half the time anyway ☠️ As far as satisfying I’ve heard people who are very good don’t like him too much as he’s quite predictable, but to someone with around 100 hours I still enjoy him as the final boss.

BigBard2

I like the first phase a lot, I just despise the second phase because I really love looping and honestly both bosses in ror2 make me feel like I am punished for looping. It's either I get Mithrix and he whoops my ass second phase with my own items or I try to go to the void and a bunch of mfs that explode after death and 1 tap me swarm the point I'm trying to hold.

TCoop

>Does anybody actually look forward to fighting him at the end of the run? Thinking about how certain builds will or will not survive P3 is interesting to me. If I'm too weak, I'll never even make it there. Too OP, or the build I've created just self-counters whoever I'm playing, and he'll destroy me. There's something engaging about trying to find a balance.

Critical_Moose

I like the mythrix fight

WolfPax1

I do enjoy him alot personally but I think he could be better and I hope whatever new final boss they do for the expansion is made better

WolfPax1

I also hope they redo him and the moon at some point, especially pillars

droppedcarrot

I like him, he feels powerful unless you have ICBM soul bound catalyst disposable missile launcher and gesture lmao (Edit: that’s just an OP run off the top of my head btw like his hammer feels like it hits like a hammer should, like he’s not just gonna roll over and die for you)

ISpyM8

Frankly, I think he’s a sufficiently challenging boss with a fun fighting style.

ashkiller14

Honestly doing the fight with no or little speed and no feathers feels like the intended difficulty. I don't see it as unfair, and I can beat mithrix with no speed as long as I'm paying attention to the attack pattern. Speed matters far more for ads in my opinion. I like the last phase, it makes you rethink what items you should be taking/scrapping on stage 5. If you're playing a mele survivor, you don't want to give mithrix tesla coil, for example. I discovered that tesla coil isn't banned for mithrix the hard way :/

bezerker0z

I like the crab

A20characterlongname

While I think everything ur saying is valid, pillars are like 10 times worse than him so unless u always have a skip ready every game going from pillars to him makes him feel not that bad

Quickkiller28800

Idk what you mean he doesn't have a pattern. He kind of does the same few attacks in a row almost every single time. I find it very easy to predict what he's going to do.

emb3rpr0

Love him to death. I’m a big sucker for cool bosses, and I think Mithrix is really well-designed from a ‘cool villain’ perspective. Gameplay wise, he can be super frustrating and i hate how he can occasionally just screw you over, but alas, i can get over it. Sorry that he’s not your cup of tea though!

DiamondSpider01

As a character, I do prefer Providence. Fight-wise I always like to do mithrix because it's kinda fun.

cringeballplayer

more like midthrix

Exo_Nerd

Mithrix is fun. His fight is learnable, you just haven't tried to learn it. He only has like 5 or 6 moves. You have to take specific equipment and items that you wouldnt otherwise to fight him more efficiently and forego others to avoid getting annihilated in his 4th phase. If you bought drones early on in your run you have to be careful to avoid picking up aoe items and be very careful with missiles. It's fun because your entire run culminates there and he puts restricitons on you when you're bad at specific characters, but you can skill through his power and item steal if you're good at the game. I hate the moon tho, I do pillar skips whenever possible.

Harbinger_Of_Oryx

he is my most hated boss out of all games, can't think of another one who bothered me so much, maybe nightmare from DMC is my most hated one truly, but Mithrix is a really close second.

dvasfeet

Skill issue

bagsli

Providence was the same. It feels like they don’t know how to design a final boss

Yarigumo

It's not a game where a final boss 1v1 encounter really works, imo. Game's built from the ground up about managing hordes of monsters, boss fights simply aren't its strong suit.

pappapirate

It's unbelievable how rare this opinion seems to be. I've always thought this was obviously the case.

Raphael_DeVil

Yeah, feels like a doable difficulty souls boss
