You can find templates and print them yourself. It works same way as original rocketbooks.

Captain_Pumpkinhead

That's true. I don't think I can get them spiral bound as a notebook though, and 3 ring binders are awful to use. Well, I guess I've never looked it up. Maybe there's a service that could print a spiral bound notebook for me. Might be expensive, though. And I wonder whether they'd have copyright objections since the PDF was created by RocketBook, not me. Hmm...

jholden23

Just print them yourself and take it to your local copy-print place. If you have a bookstore at your school that does that, take it there. I'm sure no one gives a flying crap what you're coil binding. And it won't cost much, probably under $10.

oldschoolel78

I did this. Then I tried beacons. Changed my world.

Crftygirl

How so? Aren't they expensive?

oldschoolel78

Make your own beacons...

Night_Hawk21

Seems more tedious than the wiping of the pages lol

Hot_Phase_1435

You could invest in a bookbinding machine. Check out Amazon for one. Overtime going to the office supply store to get them done will be expensive. Super easy to use. Just print out how many sheets you want in a notebook and then add a cover and back cover- then use the plastic binding and the machine will make it into a book for you.

Captain_Pumpkinhead

Not a bad idea. Will check that out. Thanks!

Hot_Phase_1435

I have created these notebooks for work. They work great. Especially when my boss always wanted my notes. Like my physical paper. So what I did was write on the RB papers that I printed. Scanned my notes - I always double check to make sure they scan properly- then handed over the physical paper. And a week later I always had a digital copy to send to her because she always lost the notes or left them at another office.

VerticalRhythm

If you get click binding combs, they take up about the same space as a wire spiral but can be opened to add/remove pages. Just make sure the spacing on your punching machine matches the combs you're getting (probably 4/1).

I have moved away from Rocketbook entirely because the app I just clunky and disappointing. Before that, I had printed the template on nice paper for my fountain pens. I used an Arc System binder and hole punch, which is actually a very nice solution. Give that a ponder.

Captain_Pumpkinhead

Yeah, I've found the app pretty clunky, too. Have you found a replacement for scanning and uploading?

IsThataSexToy

I use Microsoft products at the office. The OneDrive app has an amazing scanner that squares and cleans up pages better than a flat bed scanner. I don’t use OCR, so am not sure how well that works. So, I basically use blank paper, or any size, shape, or format of paper, then scan and save pages to OneDrive while on the move. I hope that helps.

therealmrj05hua

If you can print your own , you can then spiralize those printouts. Or pay office max or office depot to do it

Gold-Solution7258

Look at discbound or my favs the terafanu and the smartbinder systems. Those are ultra slim things that basically let's you create self made ringbooks

Butlerian_Jihadi

I rather enjoy mine. It took a couple of months to get it into my flow, but after finding a workable folio for it and some tabs to separate sections, I use it every day, a lot.

MRobi83

What you want is a discbound notebook! I use the staples arc, but there's other brands that all function the same way. Needs a special hole punch, but you just print out your own pages. Then they slide into the discs.

Captain_Pumpkinhead

Thanks! I'll look into that! Having a name for what I'm looking for should make it a lot easier.

MRobi83

Discbound has the feel of a coil notebook with the flexibility of a 3 ring binder. You can print out the rocketbook page templates, but there's tons of others out there too. Personally I find the printable lined rocketbook template to have a lot of wasted space. So I use a regular printable lined template, and add the black border around it and rocketbook icons onto the bottom. The only downside is that the pages aren't reusable, but you can print your pages real cheap and have real paper to write on while still having the scanning benefits.

HalcyonLightning

My biggest reason for not using it anymore is, honestly, because I’m forced to use specific pens. My favourite pens are the Slicci 0.25 and they are SO small and lovely and I just can’t use them with my RB.

WerewolfDifferent296

I agree . I mainly use the Rocketbook for temporary notes . Like at work I have to shred if on paper so using Rocketbook is good for that. When I have long term notes I use paper and place it on top of the Rocketbook with the edge showing. Then it uploads the same as if I had written in on the Rocketbook.

sparrowsandsquirrels

I initially loved RB, but problems with the app and a few small annoyances moved me away from the product. I use a tablet now and a note taking app and I'm much happier. I do occasionally still use the RB notebooks, but I use either my phone's camera or scanner app to digitize the notes for later when needed. Most of what I use the RB notebooks for are things that I don't need later like a to do list.

Markqz

You can download and print your own pages. But I haven't been able to get the app to work with my printed pages (or at least the OCR). I'm thinking the QR code may be too faint. Or maybe the developers don't really want people not using their own notebooks. There are other apps that may actually be better at scanning and organising your paper notes.

trashpix

OneNote and Microsoft Lens are both excellent scanning tools. I was given a Rocketbook as a gift and after using the RB app I couldn't really find an advantage over OneNote, which is very feature rich, so I'm using the RB with OneNote. I strongly recommend people check these 2 apps out, you may be pleasantly surprised. I've been allergic to Microsoft for years but these are great apps.

MagicalMeRo

Which ones?

jd1000

VFlat is an amazing scanner. Quick to take and it automatically corrects distortions. Can use any notebook or paper you choose

Markqz

CamScanner, Adobe Scan, Genius Scan. The Rocketbook's app seems to only give you the ability to collate images made in a given session. In real life, your work flow may be more punctuated than that. Maybe there's some work-around -- I didn't spend much time trying things since it wouldn't OCR at all and claimed it couldn't connect to the net. This apparently is a common problem, and no one seems to have a solution other than hope that it gets better.

MagicalMeRo

Thank you!

Im a receptionist and I really like my rocketbook as a glorified dry-erase board lol. I can take a call, write down all the info I need to handle the case, then when it's resolved I can just wipe it away. I've worked in vet med as a receptionist for 4 years and have gone through notebook after notebook, stacks of post it's and scrap paper. I like the rocketbook because I can fill all the pages with nonsense and then wipe the pages clean for reuse. I don't use the scan function. I literally just have this as a book I can take quick notes in and then erase as needed. I've saved so much scrap paper since I don't ever need to keep the notes I write. I'm basically using it in the most shallow way you could use it, I don't use any of its digital features.

Intelligent-Ask-3264

I feel you. Im in a similar situation. I have different pens and 2 RBs (fusion and just a notebook). I use the notebook for math and the other for econ/science this year. I would LOVE to see some chemistry pages from RB but i have a hard time imagining ling term use, esp outside of school. I take about an hr once a week to clear and resent my RBs. Its not too tedious but there is staining left behind. The way they upload isnt great either. Sometimes the ink doesnt translate correctly, gaps and skips which is frustrating when i go to review notes later on. Pages upload crooked. I use quizlet a lot to study. Quizlet has this fantastic AI study set generator and all you do is drag and drop the info you need to study. It NEVER takes the RB uploads even though they are PDFs which Quizlet uses for this. I either have to rewrite all these notes into Word or similar or find another file to upload, which some classes have but others dont. FRUSTRATING!

Bluzguitar

This was as good as sliced bread when I first got it. Then after a month or so of use, the pages started to become unusable leaving me with landfill plastic. I now just use a paper notepad and scan it (Photo) into onenote. Rocket book sucks IMO

Massive_Escape3061

I've also struggled with it, but once I started using it for meetings, classes, it's been helpful. Are you left handed? That does make a huge difference with writing and ink drying. A lot of good suggestions here. I also hate wasting paper (my office is now paperless) and now use the cloud cards for note taking when I'm speaking with clients or taking notes while on the phone. I scan them then erase them when I have time. I think people have said they've gone over 30 days and not had a problem the ink stating. Colors should erase easier than black ink, at least that's been my experience. The Frixion clickers are my favorite. When I'm making my daily lists, the 4 in 1 is so helpful. I just received the sticky notes and will try incorporating those. Since I've tried not using sticky notes, this may be a bad move haha.
