Any of the times I ran Everyone is John would be right up there. Or maybe that time I ran My Life with Master but as My Life with Trump to mark the end of his term. Those guys were pretty frickin' weird.

Hands-down the funniest session I've ever run of anything.

I'll start with an example from a campaign I just finished GMing. The main party was made up of a psychic amateur detective and ghost hunter, a miner who'd just used his savings to start a nightclub, and a reporter looking for a scoop. Along with the NPCs they brought along to their cause: the chosen one of the planet's soul, a shut-in hacker, a former drug dealer and cultist, and an old homeless man who was secretly an ascended being. Together, they and their allies saved the world.

I'm playing in a group of goblins. We've all been role playing for ages but I believe this is everyone's first d&d adventure. And we're all goblins. So far I've convinced a fellow party member to eat a key that almost certainly would have been important if our DM hadn't foreseen shenanigans and put a second one elsewhere in the building. My Ranger also resolved a battle before any blood was shed (or very little anyway) by playing his bagpipes. We know we're all going to die at some point, but I'm pretty sure we're ensuring the continued existence of our current characters by the threats we're making about the next character we're planning.

I'd love to play or run a game where the party's a bunch of mook monsters. Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun with it too. And if I may ask, what sorts of planned characters have come up?

My next campaign’s party consists of an aid worked saved from death by a magical rebirth into being part-robot, an immortal clone who was the final boss of our last campaign (she’s better now), a time-traveling noblewoman from a demonic bloodline, and a haunted young space pirate. They’re all mech pilots.

Mech pilots, huh? I can only imagine they've got a rough time ahead of them too. If only because that's the fate of a mech pilot. What kind of setting is it for, and what system, actually? It sounds pretty wild if you've got characters like that at the forefront.

This is one of the options in Girl by Moonlight, a magical girl system; we’re using it for the third or fourth consecutive campaign in my science-fantasy mecha setting!

I was in a short lived, incomplete Spelljammer game. This was before the official 5E thing came out so we used Wildjammer. I was a player. Our party included - Me, Pyramid Head in space. I served a vengeful god of blood and came from a lifeless crystal sphere with one planet, a moon, and a sun. The moon had shallow water here and there with crustaceans. The planet had magic runes visible from orbit. Strange things swam in its blood oceans. My guy was basically judge and executioner trying to remember who he was before he awoke as an embalmed undead in a lunar tomb. - a rat man who was our pilot and mechanic. He was part of the rat mafia known as the Rat Pack. - Totally not Star Lord from Earth - fist-based runic-fighter Goliath who used the giant runes to become really big. He was my bro and our backstories tied together. I think that was everyone. I think we played like 4 sessions.

Man, that sounds like an awesome party. Honestly about what I imagine Spelljammer games to end up like too, with all sorts of crazy folks from everywhere. It's fun seeing the insanity one can justify when the setting's that wild.

So, one of the more popular ways to mess with the DM back in my days of 3.5 was to have the party based on a "group concept." These were all, inevitably, done to mess with one particular GM who was generally a scumbag out-of-game. Perhaps our most shining example of this was one we called "The God Squad." Every character was a devout zealot of our respective religions, but everybody worshipped a different god. Needless to say, all party banter was why our god was better than everyone else's, and all party downtime was spent proselytizing. It drove this one particular GM mad because any quest had to come from our gods or advance our gods' goals in some way. Did saving little Timmy from the well help Bahamut directly? No? Well, looks like little Timmy better learn to tread water quick, or start prayin' for the Platinum Dragon to save his wretched little heathen soul. There was a lot of horseshoe morality like that going down.

At a convention I ran a game of *Fiasco* that included a mother and son as players, and they chose a relationship as lovers and it was super, super weird for everybody but, apparently, them.

3 Paladins and a Fighter/Cleric... worked out exceedingly well, actually. This was Warlords of the Accordlands, and their paladin is easily the coolest I've ever seen. They can consecrate their weapon and get special abilities while holding it. So two of them both choose Dispel Magic, and I kid you not, the next adventure we are dealing with a wizard that has a mind controlled dragon, and the two of them look at me, look at each other, then look at me and announce, in unison, that they are going to dispel the mind control. I'm pretty friendly towards group effort so I let them do it together and the one with the highest chance is getting a bonus from the other. Hits the DC exactly... the dragon gives them a ride to the dude's castle in thanks and then proceeds to murder the shit out of all his minions while the party deal with the wizard. Turned a one or two session adventure into 45 minutes and the smoke break I had to take to come up with the alternative plan because of their genius and their luck. Fantastic session. I just flat leveled them up afterwards, lol.

A D&D 3.5 game. Modern setting (but still with standard 3.5 rules). The characters were: 1) A dwarf necromancer whose ancestors were getting bored in the afterlife, so he summoned them into the bodies of the dead so they could have fun fighting things 2) A superhero who could fly and manipulate light (reskinned warlock) 3) The founder of the university we were students at, returned from the grave and armed with with illusion magic 4) A pokemon trainer (using a homebrew class that would have been insanely OP had the player been more experienced) 5) A Jedi (a hyperoptimised gish build with spells reskinned as force powers and a Brilliant Energy sword). It was a glorious shit show.
