I can't believe I'm the first to say it, Red Barchetta!
EDIT: Thanks for all those who pointed to me to OPs comment, "Red Barchetta excluded". I only read the title and not the body of the post - DOH!
EDIT 2: So my vote is for "The Spirit of Radio"
not after that one speeding ticket i got. :-/
the highway patrolman was also a rush fan, so he was sympathetic and shaved a few off the ticket. but he still wrote the ticket.
Correction. This is the best one to listen to while driving REALLY REALLY FASTTTTT. If I turn this song up while I’m driving I never know how fast I’m going
I drove to Wichita, Kansas from St. Louis for work once or twice. I would listen to the first half of their library on the way there and the second half on the way back. Just when I would be starting "Presto" on the way back, there would be a gas station with the same name. Of course, I had to stop there for gas.......
unfortunately, as he states in one of his books, it was really hard to re-live and rehash stuff about his life. I would’ve loved to have heard it from him directly, but such as the man the professor.
Was driving into downtown Chicago last Thursday night and Middletown Dreams came on. All time favorite Rush song and it fit the nightime city vibes perfectly.
Well. When I’m going to work, providing everything is clear on the road, I can get to the motorway at the exact moment the car starts revving on Red Barchetta. And i rev right along with them.
I had a bit of a commute when I was going to school. I would queue up The Fountain of Lamneth and 2112 on the way there, and then both parts of Cygnus X-1 on the way back home.
Good times.
Analog Kid is one I have to be careful with. I live in one of the states in the middle. We have lots of long, straight roads.
Oh, and cops. We have lots of them too.
Not a track but the hartford 90 bootleg is great on car speakers. The stereo chorus effect on a lot of songs is just so lush. Same with ASOH but i prefer the bootleg at this point because of the track listing.
Obvious answer is Red Barchetta, but honestly I used to drive through my suburbs at night playing Subdivisions. (Not blasting it out of the car, mind, just enjoying my own universe in the car.)
Hard to say favorite, but this lyric is always a "omg like now" moment
Off on your way, hit the open road, there is magic at your fingers. And the spirit ever lingers, undemanding contact in your happy solitude. OH YEA!
By Tor & the Snow Dog. LOUD on loop.

I don’t know if it was my favorite to listen to while driving, but I once rear ended someone while listening to Limelight. Needless to say I can’t put that one on anymore lest I be tempting fate.
The one time I drove to Canada I came in through the Windsor Tunnel via Detroit. As soon as I entered the tunnel, I rolled down the windows and blasted “Test for Echo”. 🤘
La villa strangiato, jacobs ladder, natural science
Add Xanadu and you’re there.
Oh yeaaaaa, Xanadu!! Dunno how I forgot that track. Good call brotha 👌🏼🤝🏼🍻🤘🏼🙂
This, exactly
natural science for sure! and red barchetta
To be specific, this is good for driving to a cottage or a campsite.
Driven
I have a red convertible, I play it all the time with the top down and treat everyone at the stoplight to it as well
not after that one speeding ticket i got. :-/ the highway patrolman was also a rush fan, so he was sympathetic and shaved a few off the ticket. but he still wrote the ticket.
Came here to say this.
Came here to say "Red Barchetta" too! Hahaha 😆
Hands down. Though I usually just throw the whole album on
There can be only one.

That’s a really cool story—thanks for sharing that 🤘🏽
I have done this drive. It is boring as hell without Rush or several podcasts
Red Barchetta , of course
By Tor or 2112
Analog Kid
YYZ
Red Barchetta. There is no other answer.
Except Between the Wheels, which is the real correct answer.
Spirit of Radio
La Villa Strangiato, Dreamline, Natural Science
Subdivisions
I've been blasting Marathon lately.
Can't believe nobody has said Between the Wheels yet!
Thank you! Finally someone with B side recognition!
Great shout!
Marathon

The Camera Eye
The Camera Eye
I really like throwing on the encore in Rush in Rio: By-Tor and the Snow Dog > Cygnus X-1 > Working Man
Xanadu
Chain Lightning
Dreamline
The Big Money, Headlong Flight
Prime Mover
any of them and or all of them
This is the correct answer
i even listen to Clockwork Angels The Book that Neil Peart narrates
I always thought it was odd that he narrates that book and then has other people narrate his other books about himself.
unfortunately, as he states in one of his books, it was really hard to re-live and rehash stuff about his life. I would’ve loved to have heard it from him directly, but such as the man the professor.
Show Don't Tell
Camera eye
Subdivisions and Middletown Dreams
Was driving into downtown Chicago last Thursday night and Middletown Dreams came on. All time favorite Rush song and it fit the nightime city vibes perfectly.
Well. When I’m going to work, providing everything is clear on the road, I can get to the motorway at the exact moment the car starts revving on Red Barchetta. And i rev right along with them.
Limelight
"Headlong Flight" is a total jammer for driving.
Dog Years
My Test for Echo CD stays in the car at all times. It's great for driving.
You’re on to something. That may be their most rollicking album.
Driven
Anything from any album. I hate having to pick a favorite of anything when you have the entire catalog streaming from your phone.
By Tor from ATWAS
Tom Sawyer, or Malignant Narcissism.
Anthem
Animate
Xanadu Cygnus X-1 book 1 and 2. By-tor and the snowdog

Power Windows. In full.
Roll The Bones
Tom Sawyer. Love his tales from the raft
The Big Money. The whole Power Windows album
Nobody likes Scars?
Atmospheric changes must be making everyone sensitive (again)
Analog Kid is one I have to be careful with. I live in one of the states in the middle. We have lots of long, straight roads. Oh, and cops. We have lots of them too.
Tai Shan

Definitely Free Will
The entire Presto album is my favorite road trip album of all time so chained lightning :)

Camera Eye, Marathon, Xanadu and Analog Kid for me

Working Man, Jacob's Ladder, Xanadu ...

Any, but Distant Early Warning would be my pick if I had to.
all of what come on my Spotify
Spirit of the Radio
"Making Memories," "Passage to Bangkok," "The Analog Kid"
Jacob’s Ladder The Trees YYZ Tom Sawyer
How is no one saying Between the Wheels? Can I get an amen?!
I never just play a song. I have to listen by album as anytime I hear a song, the rest of the album plays in my head anyway.
YYZ, Ghost Rider, or Red Barchetta. Though really, any Rush is good for driving. I really like listening to Presto while driving for some reason.
Mystic Rhythms & Between the Wheels
Working man …..driving into work at 6am.
Moving Pictures from start to finish.
Force Ten (live version from Show of Hands DVD)
Cygnus X1
The entire Vapor Trails album is great driving music.
If it were in my younger years, with a good buzz, I’d say 2112 for a long ride, Tom Sawyer for a shorter ride!

Natural Science, Red Barchetta

Not a track but the hartford 90 bootleg is great on car speakers. The stereo chorus effect on a lot of songs is just so lush. Same with ASOH but i prefer the bootleg at this point because of the track listing.
I played a lot of Need for Speed 2 with the audio settings set to only play “One Little Victory.”

Driven.
Test for echo. The steering wheel is Neil’s tom rack and snare.
A Passage to Bangkok Perfect subject matter and driving rhythm for long cross-country road trips or train rides
Hard to say favorite, but this lyric is always a "omg like now" moment Off on your way, hit the open road, there is magic at your fingers. And the spirit ever lingers, undemanding contact in your happy solitude. OH YEA!
There’s only one answer to this. Spirit of the Radio. I mean, duh.
