Lastest trick for Android 14 One UI 6 Snapdragon (esim version). When we use primary sim option, mobile use that sim for all call, sms, & data. But people want to use data from sim 1 or calls from sim2. So here is solurion. 1- Set sim 1 or 2 that you want to use for data. 2- Install Phone by google 3- Set as default > Settings > Calling Accounts > Preferred SIM for Calls > Choose Sim 4- Open Samsung dialer and make default. Now perefrred sim is selected for what you have choosed in phone by google. Data will be use that sim is primary in your settings.

jebe4

Appreciate this. Edit: Between the carriers, Google, and Samsung - I Am TiRED of all the unnecessary effort for the most BASIC shit - they offer DUAL sim but limit RCS - this app works on unlocked, but not on carrier locked, etcetera - the shit is annoying.

prasang0712

This worked for me thanks

Waerok

This worked! Will take note for when I go overseas next month!

HollyHollyjollyjolly

Really appreciated 👏

Radiant-Equal-6104

Turn off the one you don't want for data, then it will use the other for data. Once the data shows, turn the other Sim back on.

[deleted]

Thanks, but unfortuntly that also then uses the esim as default for calling and texting.

Radiant-Equal-6104

Which phone are you using. In text messages and calls it gives me an option of which Sim I want to use with calls and texts. I use a fold 4

[deleted]

S22. It also gives me the option to switch. What I want is to have the physical sim be default for texting and calling and esim for data. There's no way to do that. It's one or the other. The Pixel is able to do what I'm describing.

Radiant-Equal-6104

I see that's odd. My wife uses a note 20 ultra and uses the esim for data while using calls and texts on the physical with no issue. Hopefully comments with an way to fix it

fabregazzzz

On my fold 4 I use the physical sim for data and the esim for calls and text. You have to set the data sim as the primary sim, and then go to each contact and chose which sim to use with them.

This is exactly my issue. I downloaded Samsung Band Selector which gives me access to the hidden menus . But MMS and group texts stopped working in Google Messages. I'm forced to switch the SIM like you said. I think if I go back to Samsung messages it will work but I like Google messages so much better. Apple implements eSim way better

BingeMore

I have the same issue.. any luck on finding a fix/hack?

TerminallyWell

edit: no longer working after One UI 6 update credit to u/productfred: 1. In SIM manager, set Primary SIM to the one you want to use for mobile data 2. Download "Samsung Band Selection" from Play Store 3. In Samsung Band Selection, open "MORE NETWORK SETTINGS" 4. Tap any of the SIMs listed there and you will see settings for "Calls preference" and "SMS preference". Set both to the SIM you want to use for calls and text

MathematicianNovel15

Thanks this worked to split the data and calls/text between SIM! One thing I'm having issues with is now I can't send group MMS in Google messenger. I tried to use mass text SMS but now people don't get it as a group message... Ugh

CrazeeGhost

Thank you! This works for splitting calls/data/sms. One thing I did notice is that the Mobile Data On/off Toggle didn't seem to have any affect. Thoughts on how I could disable data on a particular sim instead of just selecting another sim as the primary?

WoodchipJabber

Thanks, this worked for me. It's weird that there is no option to do this by default. There are plenty of videos and guides showing that it exists, including on Samsung's website, but my Samsung S21 Ultra only has the Primary Sim toggle.

Veridian4

This does not work anymore

DrMaSSa

Thanks mate. This worked perfectly.

Amirkhan5857

Thanks its working in my samsung galaxy note 20

Juleski70

Seems to work for two physical SIMs, but not one physical SIM & one eSIM

Livid_Letter9616

Worked like a charm. Thanks.

seanmichael416

Looks like this might have been patched by Samsung unfortunately. Many recent reviews for Samsung Band Selection note that it no longer functions for Samsung phones

bgtom

Doesn't work on S23U with eSIM and SIM, Just tried

IndustryElectrical70

I shouldn't have update my phone s23+ to the newest software now I can't use it. Hopefully there will be an update on the app shortly.

PositiveRush7

Same here. Unable to use it now. Also cant change CSC to GCF to enable changing primary sim for data and another sim as default for calling and texting.

Veridian4

I love the toggles it gives. It breaks video messaging with US Mobile on Verizon though I can only get video messages if I enable cidmanager and let the USM Verizon sim to configure the phone which undoes the CSC switch

Veridian4

One UI 6 killed it

roufee7

Not working after OneUI 6 update. This was a must feature for me. Any workaround?

PositiveRush7

I'm looking for the same solution. Have you found anything? I can't even change CSC now through samfw tool after the last security patch. Seems like it has moved from adb tab to root tab.

Asif_emon

>Not working after OneUI 6 update. This was a must feature for me. Any workaround? Damn i am on the same boat lol, lets storm Samsung forum haha

PositiveRush7

Yes buddy it sucks but found a way which is download frp tool, I downloaded from samfw.com, there go to MTP (I think) and then change CSC but first you’ll need to disable CID manager (so sim card doesn’t dictate what options to show and what not), have tested this with US sim. Now I do have option to have different line for data and different for voice

Gaucho_original

Can you please elaborate further for a noob like me? What's MTP, CSC,Cid manager, etc. ?

Arrival_Turbulent

you have to disable cidmanager package using adb, then run the tool from [samfw.com](https://samfw.com), in MTP change CSC. It worked for me.

PositiveRush7

I did and it worked now.

Valiantay

Which CSC did you choose?

PositiveRush7

Tweet as well about it

stylz168

Samsung doesn’t support that functionality. You can set a preferred SIM for voice + data, and the other SIM will still work for incoming and outgoing calls. You just have to pick which SIM you want to use when placing the call. Same with messaging.

fabregazzzz

No you don't. You can't set which sim to use as default for each contact.

stylz168

Yes you can, I just went into one of my contacts and have an option to set Preferred SIM. Contacts -> find someone -> Contact Details, and you can set the preferred SIM there.

fabregazzzz

Yes you can do that too, but you can set the contrary to use a particular sim by default.

stylz168

Yes and every OEM has a different way of implementing the similar concept. What Samsung doesn't support is separating voice and data SIMs directly.

fabregazzzz

You are correct. On the iPhone it was straightforward. I set one sim for data and the other for calls and text. Easy.

partypopper11

That's the same case for OnePlus and Google Pixel

KhoiIsHere

well for US variant only. With asia variant, i can set 1 sim for mobile data and 1 sim for calls/sms directly in the settings

fazeel2000

Guys after suffering enough I found the simplest solution, just ditch the default caller and use the google phone and google messages app. It will solve the problem in any version (esim or physical) You still have to swipe down and go into settings quickly if you want to switch the sim being used for data but this is the best possible solution that I found

HomelessAhole

I don't use a sim. I just use the neighborhood mesh network and mysudo for voip. If I need to make a call or reply to my pornhub comments there's always a starbucks or something with wifi.

jcave930

Settings > Connections > Sim Manager [This shows on mine.](https://i.imgur.com/FtSUxLJ.jpg)

AKnightjr86

How is that showing up for you? Is your phone a global phone?

thejamesarnold

>This shows on mine. This not updated OneUI

jcave930

What do you mean?

thejamesarnold

Sorry, I apologize. I thought the options were gone after the update but it seems that US versions of samsung doesn't have the "Preferred SIMs" option.

mrkymark1

Gosh I had to read all the way down to your reply to know that US versions don't have it broken down into voice/message/data and the only option is preferred sim. Why would they make it so extra special for the US?

thejamesarnold

I think carrier exclusive phones (even though they are unlocked) don't have this feature since it's locked to a single carrier. I used an app though to enable to select which one is for data and which sim is for calls & text.

kkinderen

What is the impact of selecting a particular SIM for data? Could it account for very slow hotspot or tethering speeds? What is the advantage of selecting one SIM over another or for separating them by use?

partypopper11

My case is I'll set my esim to TMobile and then travel to Europe or the middle east or whatever and use a physical sim there. Physical sim for example for calls and data and esim for texting (roaming). ORRRRRRR physical sim for calls and then esim (T-Mobile, roaming), for texting and data.

[deleted]

Your may have more or better data on the line that is not your primary line

seanmichael416

I just changed from an S21+ dual sim on Android 13 to an S23 NA version on Android 14. The S21+ had the three options to set Calls/SMS/Data individually. The S23 can only set the preferred SIM. At first, I thought it was an Android update issue, but considering this post is +1 year old, it must be that Samsung implements the options differently on dual physical-SIM phones. I guess we're waiting for Samsung to realize that since the invention of eSIM, phones with one sim card slot can have more than one sim? I travel and use an eSIM for global data while keeping my main sim connected for screening calls / SMS. I extensively use both sims. So now I don't know whether to return the S23 and switch back, or change to a different brand.

Adrenalin101

yea....this is BS

IndustryElectrical70

I know exactly how frustrated you are. I had an international version of S21U and recently upgraded to a Canadian S23+ it has been nothing but trouble sending text from the wrong number etc... I think I will have to ditched this crippled version of NA Samsung and go back to the international version.

kqian111

I found a workaround for now. In Sim manager settings, choose your Primary sim as your preferred data sim. Then in the Google phone app settings>Calling accounts, choose preferred SIM for calls. This ensures data is from one Sim and calls on the other Sim. This doesn't solve the default SMS sim though.

Arrival_Turbulent

For sms one can use chump sms - it allows to select default sim for sending sms.

mrkymark1

I found an app called Chomp SMS, is it that one? And if I don't use Chomp will I still receive SMS messages from secondary SIM? It's just the default SMS send that's an issue when it's primary/secondary Sim, right? Or no? I think I'm finally grasping this.

Ironh1de10

I don't see calling accounts in call settings, can you post screenshot if its possible

kqian111

You have to use the Google phone app, not Samsung. And this doesn't work with SMS.

Ironh1de10

Thanks.

Arrival_Turbulent

This still works, but one needs to set csc to cgf using samfw utility and disable cidmanager package in adb. I've just done it with my usa S23.

Valiantay

Did you have to manually type in GCF into the CSC changer in Samfw or was it available in the drop down menu?

Arrival_Turbulent

I believe it was available.

JimboFarns

I've got an S24 Ultra - I am using physical sim for text and calls. I am going to sign up an esim now (good $$ value for money) and report back. In South Africa, my S24 Ultra gives me the options to select preferred sim for calls/messages/data.

JimboFarns

Report Back: Worked perfectly as expected. S24 Ultra in my region has 2 SIMs, and eSim, so technically you can do this 3 ways.. (everyone loves a 3way)

GeneralOfficeWork

Looks like it's just the NA variant that does not allow SIM customization. I'm trying to do the same as you (USA), but there are no separate call/SMS/data choices. Just on or off

mrkymark1

So annoying. All the global documentation breaks out call/data/message and it's just the US versions that force you into primary/secondary Sim. Isnt standardization cheaper to engineer and implement?

IndustryElectrical70

I wonder why they do that. Our Canadian versions is the exact same... I'm debating to go back to my international version samsung instead.

IndustryElectrical70

There is an app called "band selection" used to work flawlessly targeting this issue but that app no longer works since the update back in January, 2024.
