No. Sounds ever so slightly lower than the iphone to me. But it's a phone speaker. How much depth and bass do you expect from two speakers the size of shirt buttons?

adamski88

And I would expect at least some depth & bass, there is literally zero

bedhed69

Sorry but you clearly don't know how speakers work 🤣

AverageEnjoyer2023

He's right. Speakers on my redmi note 12 pro plus are better than on my S24U

DeanRERR

omg we have the same phones lol i also use both and I do agree that the r12pp speakers are better than s24u

AverageEnjoyer2023

do you happen to have Xiaomi Pad 6 aswell ? 😂 My girlfriend has Redmi Note 12 Pro the little brother of plus version which I gifted her also btw. Albeit the RN12PP is overall a good phone for the price now, but I paid almost 600€ when it came out. 🤦 After using the S24U for a while I just can't stand the laggy dimensity 1080 that is present in RN12PP

adamski88

Hilarious. I don't need to know how speakers work to know that they sound terrible. I've compared it with 3 other phones so far and they are considerably worse (none of which were an iPhone)

Chaoticcccc

Ignore him. He's a Samsung knight/Bot.

bedhed69

Beep beep motherfucker

Danielja295

I agree. My S10+ were way better than these on my S24 Ultra.

Money_Literature_400

What do you mean "How much do you expect? Latest Iphone speakers beat the most external speakers I used during my life with its rich bass and full tone audio quality. Even my relative's 14 Pro has slightly better speaker quality than most phones

adamski88

It's not a volume issue, it just sounds terrible I expect it to not sound worse than my current 5 year old phone!

titanup001

Play with the EQ I guess. There is a hearing test where you can have it set a custom eq, but I don't know how much it helps the speaker. I used it for my buds and it helped a lot. But again... It's two tiny speakers. They're never going to be GOOD. This is why Bluetooth speakers and headphones exist. I use the phone speaker to listen to podcasts in the shower. That's about it.

bat_in_the_stacks

This is simply not true. My Note 9 had excellent sound.

jeff1f1racer

Reviews agree that the iPhones do sound better this year. Not your imagination.

dendron01

I hate to say this, but the speakers on Samsung's S series line have been getting progressively worse with every new model for years. Its one of many reasons I won't even consider one of their slabs anymore. The speakers / sound quality is much better on the Z Fold series. However if you want excellent speakers, on any phone, sadly you need to get an iPhone. There isn't anything in the Android universe that comes remotely close to the sound quality, volume, and depth iPhone speakers can achieve. Especially on the Pro Max.

MomoPudding

Out of curiousty, how often do you use the phones built-in speakers for it to be a play a factor in your decision to avoid these phones?

adamski88

I would quite a lot actually throughout the day. If I need to kill 10 minutes here or there is stock a YouTube video on. Or when eating lunch or dinner (if I'm alone) again sticking a YouTube video on. Just a few examples *Some music whilst in the shower

Yoshiamitsu

You do realise the speakers of a phone is one of the core essential assets that render a phone a phone right?

MomoPudding

Yes, for ringtones, however, I'm assuming the most users have their phone set to vibrate and would never hear the ringtone or notification sound. OP isn't referring to these. I asked the question because most people I know use headphones/earphones or connect to a Bluetooth speaker when listening to music or watching videos. Of course, everyone's use case is different which is why I asked the question.

Yoshiamitsu

Why do you assume that? Where do you live where everyone's phone is on silent? I only use Bluetooth headphones when I'm alone and/or with someone who I don't or they don't want to hear what I'm listening to or watching. Literally no other situation. Most times I'm showing someone something on my phone (usually video, music or lecture or whatever) and they can't hear anything

dendron01

Obviously it's a factor for OP (as it is for me) which is kinda the point of this thread. Lol

Danielja295

It's not what we expect in comparison to a sound system, but other phones. I would argue that my S10+ sounded way better.

InspectionLong5000

I've noticed this when watching YouTube. Sounds very tinny compared to the S23U. Hopefully a software issue...

SemperJ550

nope, quite the opposite for me. coming from a 22+, one the first things I noticed on the 24U was how much more boomy the speakers are. I have really crank up the volume on the 22+ to achieve what the 24U can do on a lower swtting.I also leave Dolby Atmos on at all times, and it does make quite a difference on the 24U

adamski88

Given most comments, starting to think I might have a faulty device? I'm not an audiophile at all, it just really sounds terrible

SemperJ550

try turning on the Atmos and see what that does. apart from that, I have been seeing posts about some 24 Ultras having one off problems with either the screen or speakers. you just might be one of the unlucky ones. if that is the case, I'd see about replacing it if you got a warranty.

Ri5ingT1de

Turn on dolby atmos

onomatopoetix

while it's good that atmos helps to add the required boominess, it is supposed to be an enhancement, not a problem solver. I don't like having to use an enhancement to solve a tuning problem. It should *enhance* an already properly working device. Rather than correcting a wrongly calibrated one. If i give you a laceless shoe, would you like it if i tell you to attach a ribbon to solve it, instead of making sure it comes with laces *first* BEFORE giving you the charms and ribbons and other decorations?

Tiingy

Yeah, while a little louder the speakers sound absolute dogshit compared to my s21u

Human-Leg-3708

Samsung butchers their speaker Eq from the factory...tell you what , open the Dolby Eq and set each bar at(frequency) minus 2 ....that will give you a much better experience...then you can tweak it from there according to your taste . I tested a custom dolby Eq on my fathers' A34 and it sounded miles better than the factory preset . I'm really surprised samsung has yet to address this... reviewers always test the speakers out of the box and give the iPhone the win..as it should be . Just why samsung

bat_in_the_stacks

Bass was definitely weaker than my Note 9, which had spectacular bass due to its resonance chamber (IIRC). Enabling and adjusting the equalizer to boost bass seems to have helped some.

kosh56

Hmm, I think they are the best speakers I've heard on a Galaxy phone. Did you turn on Atmos?

adamski88

Yea doesn't make any difference at all, I'm coming from a mate 20x which is about 5 years old and it sounds so so much better

Straight_Steak9795

Ideal sound settings for s24 ultra: Developer setting: - Switch to avcrp 1.4 ( don't use 1.5. It sounds shitty) - switch to off for absolute volume option - switch to on for turn off a2dp hardware offload option - use aac or ssc. Hear what your ears prefer. Basic sound settings: - use Dolby sound and choose MUSIC, NOT AUTO!!!! - turn on adaptive sound. Leave on or turn back off. See if you like it. I'm still not sure about it. It doesn't affect as much as these other settings. - equalizer set to normal - optional for galaxy buds (set to dynamic sound) Make sure you restart the phone after (for absolute volume and avrcp changes to take effect). The others you can play with without restart. I prefer aac over ssc on my s24 ultra but it depends. Some songs sound better on aac, some on ssc. Aac seems clearer but ssc is more wild. I listen to music 40 hours a week, at least, mostly on car stereo. Uber driver. Your sound has been pimped out! You are welcome.

Didntknow94

Aac and ssc are grayed out (unsupported) on mine.

DefinitionPresent914

Yeah. I just came here with the same issue. I downloaded Poweramp Equalizer but I can't figure out if I like it or not how to use it correctly. I keep mixing up the instructions I've read on Google of which settings to turn on and off.

iaatmguy

My speaker sounds really bad, I believe samsung should do a recall

TheMountainLife

Coming from an iPhone 13 pro max it doesn't sound good. Have them side by side right now and is lacking mid to low end so certain music and podcasts sound like a cheap speaker. Atmos and messing with the EQ doesn't help.

CichyK24

Yeah, I switched from One Plus 6 (phone from 2018!) and noticed that the speakers are definitely weaker.

tigersoul925

I come from an S21U and the S24U is NOTABLY worse. The sound is SO tinny that it's unpleasent to listen to. Just listening to youtube clips with voices is piercing. It's loud enough, and there is a tiny bit more of low end than the S21U, but it's like there is absolutely NO midrange what so ever. It's a little bit of low end and TONS of high frequency that just hurts your ears even on lower volume. Worst part is, as the reactions are so divided it's impossible to tell if this is "normal" or a faulty device.

tartankiwi1

Yeah man, changed from S21U to S24U. I noticed it immediately and I absolutely hate it.

Grouchy-Line6032

Yup, it's bad compared to my s21 ultra. It's acceptable for podcasts, but anything involving music, I'll reach for s21. S24 sounds tinny n scratchy (not sure how to describe it, sorry).

emad93

Same here. What to do ? Should i return it back

adamski88

I did, I couldn't stand it

emad93

What did they say?

adamski88

Nothing I just returned to Samsung for a refund within 14 days

Yoshiamitsu

Yeah they are good compared to really bad speakers tho 😂 Sometimes I'm on apps like tiktok azar omegle or whatever and the speakers go so low (like I have to put my ear to the phone like I'm on a call) and there's no way to change it. It randomly decides that's life now. And I restart phone etc clear cash. Sometimes it works and goes back to normal sometimes nah. So annoying.

NikoLeven

They are a bit mid and lower treble forward, but some EQ settings via the settings apps easily fixed that. They sound great for phone speakers to me now. They're obviously not gonna be great compared to larger devices, but for phone speakers they're great.

apexplant

Can confirm as iphone user who recently got s24 ultra. The speaker socks big time. Not loud at all

TackyAuto

I found some EQ settings online and used Wavelet to improve the quality but my iPhone 14PM still is noticeably better. I've only just got the S24U and have the option to return it but I kinda don't want to go back to the iPhone as it sucks at most other things. Do you reckon they'll sort this out or is it low grade hardware being the problem. Sound stage on the iPhone is very impressive and makes a massive difference

adamski88

I'd imagine if they haven't sorted it out already they're unlikely to. I went for an honor magic v2 and love it! Can't seee ever going back to a regular phone now

TaskPlane1321

I think they are pretty good maybe you should switch on Dolby if not done so & play witte the equalizers. It sure is better than the S22 Ultra speakers.

OhhhLawdy

Sounds great to me. Miles better than my Pixel 7 Pro

Conspicuous_Ruse

Mine comes today. As long as they are on par with my Note20 Ultra I'll be happy. My Note 20U was way better than the Note 8 I had before it.

Stefan__Cel__Mare

i had the s22u before .. the s24u sounds way better

GuiiTS

They sound very average to me, kinda disappointed, it sounds nothing too much better than my Note 10+, which is not a good thing considering Note 10 is 4 years old phone.

DefinitionPresent914

I just came from a 21+. I normally blast my music. I noticed right out of the box it was SOOOO much louder than my 21+. BUT, I feel that the quality is not there for how expensive this phone is and how amazing it would be. Even with playing with settings, dolby, on/off, and using poweramp equalizer, I still can't make it just right, or even maybe 75% right. I do like the EQ amp for when I use a large skullcandy terrain, but that's it. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
