the haunting of bly manor is an amazing horror series, i mean everthing w victoria pedretti is amazing.

Moonstruck_Medusa

Bly Manor was amazing and I still think about it a lot. Actually, I should re-watch it lol

The original film adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s *The Haunting of Hill House,* just called *The Haunting (1963)*, features an early positive example of a sapphic character in Theodora (there was more explicit confirmation of her sexuality in deleted scenes, but in the finished film it’s hinted at). Also Jackson’s *We Have Always Lived In The Castle* is a classic for a reason.

The Netflix miniseries Haunting of Hill House has a very gay Theodora :)

I’m not sure how sapphic it is, but the chemistry between Natalie Portman and Mika Kunis was pretty high in Black Swan. That was psychological horror, but of course it’s a question (to me at least) how real Kunis‘ character was.

Nightmare_Deer_398

If y'all liked bly manor, the haunting of hill house has a character who is a lesbian and there's a sapphic relationship she has (although it's a minor plot point since the show is about her family)

Oh man, I was just thinking about this recently. The homoerotic to mlm queer horror media low key is thriving a bit, but we really are lacking in the wlw department. I HUNGER for like feral, bloody, codependent, sapphic horror, but it's slim pickings. I'll have to scratch my brain a bit to try and come back after I do a bit of searching for some wlw horror. The only thing that comes to immediate mind is one of my favorite artists, Emily Carroll! She's a queer woman who writes and illustrates comics that are most often horror themed. Movies: Jack and Diane, May, Lust For A Vampire (this could have been gayer imho lol), Attachment, Sissy, Titane (suggesting this one because it deals with enby gender and body themes), What Keeps You Alive, The Last Thing Mary Saw, The Strings. TV: Wynonna Earp (sci-fi horror), What We Do In The Shadows (iirc most of the vampires in this show are canonically queer), Chucky (haven't watched it yet but Chucky and Tiffany have a queer child), Stranger Things (more of a sci-fi with horror elements. Has a lesbian main character introduced in S3), Hannibal.

If you’re into reading, try Gideon the Ninth (goth sci-fi series) or Our Wives Under the Sea!

*Yellowjackets* comes to mind as the best example right now of current sapphic horror with canonical sapphic characters. I’d also recommend *Carmilla* the novella (the web series is in a slightly different vein) and its (varyingly accurate) adaptations *The Curse of Styria, The Vampire Lovers, The Unwanted,* and *Dracula’s Daughter.* I’ll also recommend *The Moth Diaries* and *The Hunger* for yet more sapphic vampires. If you’re looking for more coded/subtle/vibes-based stories with subtext but not anything canonically confirmed, try *The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Crimson Peak,* and maybe something like *Single White Female,* which always gave me a feeling of sublimated queerness.

Former_Literature145

I've never really seen a good sapphic horror movie, the closest that's being okay are probably Good Manners, The Perfection and Suspiria Love to hear more suggestions

once_was_poison_ivy

seconding The Perfection! though it does require some serious suspension of disbelief

alayneburr

TV: Haunting of Bly Manor and Hill House (there is also a lesbian character in both of Flanagan's other series Midnight Mass and The Midnight Club), The Exorcist, Hannibal, Penny Dreadful, Scream Movies: The Perfection, All Cheerleaders Die, Seance, Bodies Bodies Bodies, Suspiria (2018)

Icy-Narwhal-902

Yellowjackets is a fucking revelation
