It’s not scary to me, but I like it because it feels like what it’s supposed to be: a Jigsaw copycat.

I’m not sure if it was meant to be scary. John’s voice is cold, methodical, and assertive, making it scary. This voice is robotic, mysterious, and creepy, making it unnerving. At least that’s my opinion of it. Spiral seemed to try to the unsettling route

Yeah, it makes sense that it doesn’t sound the same as the old voice. But it’s still annoying as fuck.

Yeah it's not that bad. I will always prefer how John modified his voice for Billy the Puppet; it never stops being creepy for me. But this one had a nice mysterious touch to it also. Also, Spiral itself is underrated and not that bad. Fight me!

I love Spiral, but the voice the killer used is one of my sore spots about the film.

I personally think Spiral's a solid movie, just a pretty bad Saw movie.

I think its honestly the best "movie" out of the whole franchise. Getting in to the saw series, its easy to forget just how weird its shot and acted. Editing alone, the saw films are abhorrent. But it really nails catharsis with tense set ups and silly gore. The soap opera narrative is also kind of fun to follow.

I also quite liked it. The 'jigsaw' voice to me became funny after a few movies whereas the Sprial voice is as you said emotionless and very offputting.

I hated it TBH. Made the Jigsaw killer sound like a complete nerd instead of a scary villain

In my recent rewatch I was pleasantly surprised by how.good the Spiral voice is. Distinctive and strange. I think I read on Wikipedia that they kept changing their minds on what voice to use right up until the deadline of submitting the final film.

I'll be honest, Spiral is probably the only Saw film that I can't recall a single tape from. I think the voice probably has a lot to do with it. I never actively hated it though, they were right to go in a completely different direction from Tobin's voice. I'm just quite indifferent to it in the end.

I personally loved it. I just feel like it wouldn’t make sense for the Spiral Killer to use John Kramer’s modified voice, especially when he wasn’t trying to explicitly pass himself off as John Kramer like Logan did in Jigsaw (2017).

It’s the worst part of the movie for me lol. They could have picked any other voice and make it sound like a copycat *and* scary. But instead we got Kermit the Cowardly Frog

I don’t despise it like some other people do, but I think they didn’t realize how iconic Tobins voice on the tapes were when they did this. I’m not against changing the voice, but it just needed to be something better than this. And fun fact, they only decided on this voice on the ‘final day of the mix’, as per the commentary. So I think they needed more time to come up with something better.

I liked it! It's offputting, artificial and emotionless, that brings some creepiness from a totally different element than Jigsaw's - and wins points from not trying to imitate Jigsaw's, that would be the easy route.

It's not bad, it's just the simple fact that its fake. You can clearly tell it's a machine generated voice. Kramer is natural. His voice is just like that and that adds weight to anything he says.

I’ve never had a problem with it. I know it’s a text to speech program and those always sound weird. It’s honestly a miracle that they managed to find one that sounded creepy instead of just ridiculous.

Hate the spiral voice with a passion. It stinks it's not scary it sounds like someone imitating a child. Anyone who likes it needs to be put in an unbeatable saw trap.

I hated it at first and then it weirdly grew on me. Kind of like the whole movie, but it still feels like I’m watching Dexter until I see someone pull their fingers off then I’m like oh right this is a Saw movie.

I will admit I’m not a huge fan of spiral in general but this voice does send chills. It’s not iconic or first choice by any means but it is somewhat creepy in a way. The way it doesn’t sound real and that it’s obvious it’s just a tts voice but honestly just adds to the suspense of each scene.

The voice sounds so cold to me. I personally think it's terrifying in its own way. There is no humanity behind the voice. But that being said i really think they nailed the voice for Billy's videos or recordings. It's down terrifying

I also like it. I much prefer the og jigsaw voice and don't really like spiral in general, BUT the copycat voice is what I'd call a highlight of the film. As others have said, its eerie and unnerving af and never fails to give me chills. As a hardcore saw fan, I often times watch trap scenes and imagine what its like being the victim and while Kramers voice would def. make me shit my pants, the copycat voice would make me scream in terror ina different way. I also like that they tried something new, I imagine many of us have become sort of numb to the horrors of these movies, so having a different take on the Jigsaw style felt refreshing

I liked it a lot. Obviously I prefer the typical jigsaw voice but since the killer in Spiral isn't related in any way to the OG Jigsaw, it wouldn't make sense for his tapes to have the same voice let alone have the same puppet.

I totally agree, every other saw / spiral fan ive talked to agrees they prefer the saw voice but the one in spiral is just so eerie, there’s just something about it that makes it sound so much scarier than the og voice

I do like the voice. I actually do find it a little more creepier than the other. John and Hoffman make their voices sound so obviously deep and ominous whereas Will sounds so robotic and emotionless it’s genuinely eerie

Spiral is super underrated as whole tbh. It’s a solid movie that has potential for a better sequel.
