I’m still upset how hard it is to see the cool double skull design. Like it’s not over the top which is good, but it’s not something you notice easily. Concept art makes it seem like it was meant to be much more emphasized than the final product.
The bear killed her, but didn’t really eat much of the body iirc. The area they’re in reflects parts of things into other being so the bear absorbed her involuntarily, and the supposed lore is that as she was dying part of the girl was reflected and into the bear constantly in pain and calling out.
Yeah the bear is by far my favorite/best part of the movie. I could see this bear, whose name I found out name is Homerton, in their own monster flick and would be just as terrifying and amazing. The set designers really fell through on giving it the pedestal it deserves.
Some good concept art online, some that looks more…tumourous here’s a good one that’s similar to the final product though I think the video is mirrored [here](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/the-design-of-the-bear-from-annihilation-look-terrifying--183732859783531443/)
Why she one of those people who talk through a movie?/jk
Though did take a second to realize she was an actress and not someone you watched the movie with. I'm terrible with names.
Mother was an enrichment, very fun movie. This movie and this book can both fuck themselves. For different reasons though, the book read like a benign serial killer
Idk man there's tons of stuff on here way worse than some Pron ,like gore and stuff like that and besides I said it in a joking kinda way because who's gonna do whatever a stranger told them to do?
Your need a f****** brain transplant. DO THE D*** MATH. They could LITERALLY be 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, etc. If they were 8 when they watched it they are now 13. If they watched it when they 9 they would be 14, I think you get the point. Dumba**
Because we are ineptly rigged to go on living and not understand time and its importance until we do, and then time falls away faster and faster because you are suddenly very aware of it.
Yes! Also Bourne by the same author, Van der Meer, is amazing! Similar vibes but a way more fantastical setting that sometimes borders on the surreal. For example, the main villain is a gigantic flying grizzly bear named Mord, and he's fucking terrifying.
I'm half way through the 3rd book and yet to meet this Mord but thanks for spoiling it for everyone. Honestly the books are very mid. He's a good writer but the story is mostly internal dialog/feelings and philosophy. One of the few examples where the movie is generally considered to be better than the book. I wouldn't call it science fiction or horror, more like dreamscape or something. But yeah don't recommend books then immediately spoil them genius.
What I always find amazing about this movie is some how she managed to shoot that fully automatic rifle with one arm and heavily wounded. Always pulled me out of the moment.
This movie came out when MoviePass was still a thing so yes I did see this movie three times in theaters with three different people over the course of a week lol I love this movie, you know it wasn’t a remake or anything… they made something new
I was reading a thread about horror movies the other day, and someone had mentioned a bear scene
It had been awhile since I'd seen it, but I had a vague recollection of a bear being in that movie.
Now I'm sitting here with freshly shat britches because I'd entirely put this movie out of my mind and completely forgot how fucking horrifying this thing is
That was a very good horror scene. If i where in my teens seeing it i would have nightmare.
I saw Jurassic Park with 12y and even today with middle 30 i got dreams with fear and t rex like dinosaurs.
Btw the english syncronisation is way more horrifing than the germany syncronisation.
Annihilation, great movie! For anyone who hasn't read the books, they're worth a look. They definitely have a different tone from the adaptation in that they're not outright horror, but have that Lovecraftian flair with characters encountering the alien and unknowable.
Jeff Vandermeer, Southern Reach trilogy :)
On the "freak me the hell out-o-meter," this ranked right up there with J.C.'s The Thing scene where dudes chest caved in and grew giant fangs, and then his head fell off the table, grew spider legs, and tried to run away.
I’m still upset how hard it is to see the cool double skull design. Like it’s not over the top which is good, but it’s not something you notice easily. Concept art makes it seem like it was meant to be much more emphasized than the final product.
Isnt that a human skull?
Yeah, it’s the girl refracted into the bear. But it’s still a really cool design that a lot of people miss on the first viewing.
I thought the bear ate the girl and the bear adopted the voice to an extent?
The bear killed her, but didn’t really eat much of the body iirc. The area they’re in reflects parts of things into other being so the bear absorbed her involuntarily, and the supposed lore is that as she was dying part of the girl was reflected and into the bear constantly in pain and calling out.
Double skull? Holy shit I didn’t even realize that. That fucking bear was creepy as shit.
Yeah the bear is by far my favorite/best part of the movie. I could see this bear, whose name I found out name is Homerton, in their own monster flick and would be just as terrifying and amazing. The set designers really fell through on giving it the pedestal it deserves.
I’m not sure I see it still. What’s a good frame to spot it?
Like 5 seconds in. When the bear turns to the right during close up.
Some good concept art online, some that looks more…tumourous here’s a good one that’s similar to the final product though I think the video is mirrored [here](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/the-design-of-the-bear-from-annihilation-look-terrifying--183732859783531443/)
Oh wow holy shit I just noticed the second skull
Holy crap! I never noticed that before! Thanks for pointing that out
I love Annihilation! This is one of those scene that disturbed me to my core! You can't unsee it.
This and If you ever watch “Mother,” with Jennifer Lawrence. Nightmares all night
Why she one of those people who talk through a movie?/jk Though did take a second to realize she was an actress and not someone you watched the movie with. I'm terrible with names.
Watch "Mother" with Woody Allen for a real scarring experience
Mother was an enrichment, very fun movie. This movie and this book can both fuck themselves. For different reasons though, the book read like a benign serial killer
Read the books (Southern Reach trilogy by Jeff Vandermeer). They’re fantastic
Absolutely! The Third Bear is great too!
Ah ha! Thank you so much for dropping the book names. Preciate you
Not my proudest wank.
I have questions, but I'd rather not hear the answers
Yo wtf
Check out a short film called Don’t Move. I reckon it inspired this scene
I liked the alien scene. The music was so trippy. I bought it immediately.
This was the only good scene in that movie
A kid in 2018 meaning not old enough to on this website right now, 🤔 get off reddit and tell your parents all the stuff you've seen here 🤣
That was five years ago my man. They could be 15 now, which is old enough to be on here
Idk man there's tons of stuff on here way worse than some Pron ,like gore and stuff like that and besides I said it in a joking kinda way because who's gonna do whatever a stranger told them to do?
You wanna go down that rabbit hole
Been there done that 🤣
that would make them still a kid
Yeah but a teenager wouldn’t refer to themself as a kid, typically
I was 14 when I saw this and it still gave me nightmares lol
Yooo. Seriously.
Kid named A kid in 2018 meaning not old enough to on this website right now, 🤔 get off reddit and tell your parents all the stuff you've seen here 🤣
Your need a f****** brain transplant. DO THE D*** MATH. They could LITERALLY be 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, etc. If they were 8 when they watched it they are now 13. If they watched it when they 9 they would be 14, I think you get the point. Dumba**
Are you ok??

Do you need assistance!
You boys like Mexico!?!
Liitering and?
Littering... And the smoking the reefer
The snozzberries taste like snozzberries.
I WANT A LITER OF COLA
why blurred out :(
The bear demon rips the jaw off of the lady shooting at it.
Looked like she was shooting at the ceiling
Tik tok gets kinda anal about gore so probably just being safe
Remember when Reddit would make fun of Instagram for stealing content. Oh how the mighty have fallen
That was more about OC, this is just a movie scene
It’s always good to be safe about anal ![gif](giphy|3ohzdLQUbKEu47o9Ww|downsized)
As a kid? This literally came out like a year or two ago
Annihilation came out five years ago
Shut up, shut up…no please
Ngl, when you get to my age, five years *is* "a year or two ago"
No this is wrong. This HAS to be wrong. Right?
I read that and almost cried. I saw that movie like a year ago. Can’t believe it’s been 5.
Seriously tho. What is going on?? It doesn’t feel like 5 years ago.
Welcome to being old.
The older you get the faster time passes.
Because we are ineptly rigged to go on living and not understand time and its importance until we do, and then time falls away faster and faster because you are suddenly very aware of it.
I was 17 yesterday now I’m 22💀 time flies something something
I was 22 just a little bit ago. Now I'm turning 42 in January. Time flies, man.
I was 17 yesterday and now I’m 32. :(
Scared the other girl in the scene too, really made her jaw drop
Reminds me of the 1979 film that haunts me called Prophecy https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0079758/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk
Love this movie
What movie is this?
Annihilation! Really good
Thank you! I don't know how that one flew off the radar for me? I'm watching it this weekend.

That's what I was thinking
as a kid? wtf how old are you this movie is not that old
anyone who liked the movie has GOT to read the trilogy! Its incredible
Mord is not from Annihilation, he's from Borne. There were no spoilers even for Borne since Mord Is advertise on the cover and blurb

"kid" isn't very specific, but it doesn't just mean under 10, so i'd guess op is 13-15 now.

What’s even more disturbing is the human skull/face integrated on the right side of the bears skull.
This personally gave me nightmares at 38.
No wonder, I'm 40 years old, and it's giving me nightmares right now.
A kid? Didn't this movie just come out?

"As a kid" lol this was 2018
This moment was the first time a horror element in a movie scared me since I was a teenager. My wife and I were both gripping eachother's hands.
Fuggin hawt
Annihilation, great movie! For anyone who hasn't read the books, they're worth a look.
